Vegeta just finished his second bottle of sake as he got started on his third one. He didn’t miss the samurai that he saw the evening before make another appearance as he tried to drink away his stress. He also didn’t miss the warrior eyeing him as he made himself comfortable at an empty table. Vegeta smirked at the attention, but only made eye contact for a moment before he downed a gulp from his beverage. And now…he waited. He was going to try to track down the stranger again tonight. Of course, he could just walk over there, but that wouldn’t be very competitive.
Tonight, the warrior didn’t take off his straw hat. It covered those wild, dark locks as it shaded his eyes, causing him to be more mysterious. His sword was still hidden and the same attire adorned him as he calmly sipped at his tea. Vegeta wondered, if he was a wandering samurai, how come he’s still here? From being tailed the other night, he thought he would’ve became suspicious and left. Or, maybe he was curious in who was after him. Maybe today he was going to find out. Apparently, the warrior has a solid idea in the identity of the one who was chasing him. He was more suspicious of the people around him and more careful of keeping his guard up. That would explain the sword being hidden from view. Then again, his sword was hidden last time. Perhaps he never had his guard down.
Vegeta downed another bottle before he decided he was at his limit. If he drank anymore, he wouldn’t be able to chase down his prey. He smirked as he stared at the stranger, no longer caring if he got caught or not. After awhile, the warrior thought it was time to leave as he made his way out the exit. Vegeta’s smirk grew as he suddenly stood, but swayed a bit from his excess drinking. He regained his balance, then followed the stranger. As soon as he was out the door, he couldn’t spot the samurai. He climbed up to a bird’s eye point of view again and spotted the stranger rounding a corner. He grinned and clumsily made his way over to the vacant location, only to not find him there. He frowned as the warrior, once again, slipped from his sight.
He looked around a bit and still couldn’t spot the stranger anywhere. He jumped from the rooftops to get a ground point of view. Maybe he’s hiding? The noble moved a couple steps one direction, then a blade made it’s way to greet his throat as he exposed himself in the open area. “Who are you? Why are you following me?” Vegeta heard a gentle, but agitated voice greet his ears. Calm breathing was felt against his back as he stayed still. He grinned at his situation, expecting a move like this.
“Does there have to be a reason? Maybe I was looking for some competition.” He spoke slowly so he would keep from slurring his words. He turned his head slightly as an arm wrapped around his waist to keep him from making another move.
“I don’t believe you. Who do you work for?” The gentle voice became more agitated as none of his questions were satisfied with an answer he wanted.
Vegeta chuckled. “If I told you, I’d have to kill you, and that’s something I don’t wish to do. We’ve only just met. Besides, I could ask you the same thing.” His tone became playful as he finally got to speak with the stranger.
There was a pause as the warrior took in the noble’s tone of voice. “If your intentions are not to assassinate me, then you should stay out of my business. The last thing I need is for someone to get in my way.” The blade came closer to the noble’s throat as he tightened his hold on him.
So, the warrior has enemies, huh? He must be popular if people want him dead. Vegeta was surprised that the Shinobi clan hasn’t been given orders to go after this man, but he probably hasn’t brought about the community’s attention yet. He suddenly became dizzy and leaned his head back against his assailant’s shoulder, letting the blade kiss his skin as he looked at the samurai’s face. “Stranger, I’ve been in your way since the moment you set foot in this town and I won’t give up until I’ve beaten you.” The intoxicated noble replied lazily as his body became more lax in the samurai’s arms.
The warrior’s breathing sped up at his prey’s condition and lessened his hold on him. He hesitantly pulled his sword away from the noble’s throat and sighed. “I don’t think you should fight in your condition. Besides, you should really stay away from me. You could get killed.” The agitated tone left his voice, but still had a guarded edge to it as he kept his hand on the hilt of his sword, in case this was all an act.
The noble chuckled. “How quaint. A stranger is worried about someone he doesn’t even know, but don’t you worry…I can take care of myself.” He smirked at the warrior.
The stranger’s stern gaze softened. “Yes, I can see that…as you carelessly lean onto your attacker and expect him to believe your words.” He received a dazed stare in return and frowned. “You should go home. I don’t think you can so much as walk straight, let alone deal with an assassin like me.” He put his sword back in it’s sheath and loosened his hold on the noble.
However, Vegeta straightened himself and brushed off the samurai’s arm as he turned to stare at him. “Hn. You’re no assassin.” He reached up to take off the straw hat covering the stranger’s eyes. “You’re eyes have too much life in them for a killer.” He put the hat back on his head as if he’d insulted him and since this is their first meeting, he wasn’t impressed. “And here I thought you’d be a challenge.” The noble staggered a bit as he stood his ground.
The stranger’s expression was neutral. “That still doesn’t stop others from trying to kill me.” He resituated the hat on his head.
Vegeta staggered a bit. “Then tell me stranger, why are they after you?”
The warrior smirked. “Maybe because I am a challenge.”
Vegeta smiled in return. “Is that so? Well then, it’ll be very interesting to find out.”
The stranger frowned. “In that case, I’m responsible for you. Just for making contact with me, that makes you a target-”
Vegeta interrupted him with his laughter. “My life just got more interesting. All I had to do was run into a samurai.” He gestured toward him. “So, shall we commence?” He pulled out his pair of duel swords and twirled them in his hands before staggering into position. He used a pair of duel swords for work as well, but when he went into town, he used a different pair. Just in case someone recognized his weapons, though that was very unlikely. He was very good at keeping anyone silent. Still, better safe than sorry.
The warrior studied him for a moment. “Sorry, but you’re not intimidating when you’re drunk. Shall we fight another time?” He actually didn’t want to fight him, but for now, he had to play along to keep the smaller male away from him. Hopefully he wouldn’t even recall tonight.
The noble seemed to think about it for a moment. “I suppose. It wouldn’t be any fun if I didn’t fight with you with everything I had. After all, I could black out in the state I’m in, but usually warriors like to take advantage of that.” He eased his stance as he said his words and put away his swords.
The samurai watched him with careful eyes. “Well, I’m not like those warriors. I only fight when necessary.”
Vegeta frowned. “Then you’re no fun at all. Why be a samurai when you only fight when you must? Do you wish to disappoint your Master? Surely you must have some skill worth using. Why not try it out on someone just as skilled?” He smirked and crossed his arms.
The stranger frowned; already getting an idea of what kind of person he’s talking to. “I only use my skills to survive. I don’t like violence, but it seems to be the only way to stay alive.”
The smirk grew. “I see. So, if I intended to kill you, which is precisely what I’m going to do, you’ll fight me.”
The samurai hesitated. “If I have to, but I employ you to reconsider. I’m sure you get nothing more than excitement out of fighting, but I assure you…there are other ways to find as much excitement.”
Vegeta’s frown returned. “Not when you’re a noble, there’s not.” He muttered as he looked at the ground.
The stranger’s look became one of surprise as the other male basically confessed that he was of nobility. Suddenly, Vegeta’s eyes snapped up at the warrior as he realized his mistake. His expression became fierce as he, once again, pulled out his duel swords. “Now I can’t let you live.” He rushed forward and attacked. The adrenaline raced throughout his body as he became a little more sober.
The stranger tensed and quickly pulled out his sword to block the noble’s attack. A moment of strength ensued between the two warriors as their blades locked. Then, Vegeta brought out his foot to collide with the stranger’s legs, but the stranger jumped out of the way and readied his stance. Vegeta smirked and twirled his blades around again before they settled in his palms. “It seems our plans to fight another time won’t occur. It was foolish of me to speak to someone that I plan to kill. I hope you’ve taken in how grave your situation is because if you hold back, I won’t.” He crouched into a more ready position and pounced.
The samurai blocked all of the noble’s attacks with his blade and even dodged a few. When he landed a distance a way on a rooftop, he tried talking out of the situation. Not just for himself, but for the life of the young noble as well. “Look, you don’t have to do this. I promise I won’t tell anyone.” His only answer was a head-on attack as he leaped out of the way again. He refused to swing his blade at the other male. If he truly was a noble, then he would have more trouble than he already has. Just for being in contact with him could cause him more trouble. He tried again as the noble brought an onslaught of double sword attacks his way. “Please! I don’t want to fight you!” He hollered over the cling of metal as he blocked the attacks.
He finally pushed his blade forward once both of the swords hit his and shoved his opponent back. It was enough time for him to get out of the way and come up with a different strategy for beating the noble. Vegeta staggered a bit from the unexpected force, but came back with a vengeance as he followed his prey. The warrior ran in one direction toward a couple of crates sitting on the side of the street and leaped over one and hit his sword against it, causing the empty box to fly toward the noble. Vegeta merely cut it with his duel swords and continued his pursuit. The samurai leaped over the next crate, which was filled with apples, and threw it towards the noble’s direction as he continued running towards a hay wagon…a dead end.
Vegeta dodged the crate and sliced through what fruit made his way. It was the perfect distraction. The warrior pushed all his strength into his sword and swiped it towards the wagon (that he was behind >.>) and just like the crates, it flew straight towards a very surprised noble as it crashed into him and sent him flying. After a moment, the samurai relaxed his position as it seemed the noble wasn’t able to get up from the debris that was on top of him. The duel swords flew a distance a way from the impact, making the noble defenseless. The stranger sighed and swept his blade to one side before putting it back in it’s sheath. He approached the noble, who struggled to free himself, and pushed the debris from him. As soon as Vegeta could breathe again, he couldn’t help but voice how much his pride had been wounded. “I don’t need your help! Ah!” The samurai had enough. Once the noble was free, he took a hold of him and pinned him to a nearby wall. If he wasn’t told that the smaller male was a noble, he was sure he would’ve guessed it, the man acted like a child.
“What is wrong with you?! Didn’t you take into consideration the risk that you just put yourself in?! I could’ve killed you! If you truly are a noble, then you should realize how important your life is!” He gripped his shirt as he pinned one of the smaller male’s arms to the brick wall; keeping him from freeing himself.
“Don’t think of me as a child, stranger! I put myself at risk everyday! And for what?! To end up at a path that’s already laid out for me?! To not even make any of my own decisions or have any kind of free will?! My life is a prison! Having eternal darkness to come and take it all away would be merciful compared to everything I’ve lived for!” Recognition dawned over the stranger’s features, but only for a moment as he released his grip on the young noble. Confusion replaced Vegeta’s features at the look, but didn’t question it as he was relieved to no longer have a crushing grip on him.
The samurai turned away from the noble and silence ensued for a moment. “I understand that the responsibility you bear is great, but you must take in consideration of everyone else in your path, not just yourself. Think of how everyone else is depending on you to make the right decision.” His gaze became stern and cold. “People would kill to be in your position and yet you runaway from it. You should be thankful you get a life of luxury, where most people aren’t so fortunate.”
Vegeta growled and turned his gaze away from the stranger. “You don’t understand. Of course, how could you? One who has spent his life making his own path and decides whether who crosses it lives or dies couldn’t possibly understand a life where absolutely nothing happens to you.” His eyes became half-lidded as exhaustion took a hold of him.
The warrior’s gaze was fixed on the young noble as silence once again ensued. Finally, he came toward the fallen noble and bent forward and held out his hand. “We should get you home before your family notices that you’re not there.” It was obvious that the noble had to sneak out in order to come into town on his own. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be allowed to go anywhere without an escort and the young noble obviously came alone.
Vegeta ignored the offered hand and stood weakly, not really wanting to return to that dreadful prison, but knowing that he had to. He eyed where his swords landed and slowly retrieved them. Before putting them away, he swiftly held one in front of himself, pointing at the stranger threateningly. “If you tell anyone that I was here, you’ll regret it.” His fierce gaze told the sincerity of his threat and the stranger merely nodded. Once he saw that the stranger understood, he twirled his swords in an impressive fashion and put them away. Vegeta turned his back towards the samurai, “Don’t follow me.” And with that, he left before the stranger had a chance to retort.
Once the noble disappeared from the samurai’s view, he walked in the opposite direction to find somewhere to sleep for the night.

I wasn’t too…sure about their first meeting. :/ I mean, at first it was good, but then afterwards, I just kinda improvised, hehe. Then again, that’s how it always works with first meetings. >< I never know what to do. Oh, well. Hope you liked it anyway.
