Trowa pulled his shirt on as he stepped out of the bathroom. It was a simple outfit; just jeans and a black T-shirt, but he knew he also looked killer in it as it accented all of his best assets. He debated momentarily over the small hoop he usually wore in his left ear before putting it in. It was the only piercing he had and he didn’t think Duo would find it trashy. The tattoo on the other hand… Well, Duo wouldn’t be seeing that any time soon – if ever – so Trowa wasn’t going to worry about it.
A low whistle came from the direction of the sofa as he entered the living room and he spun on his heel to see Heero appraising him. “What the hell are you doing here?”
The Asian shrugged. “Just thought I’d stop by and see if you needed help getting ready.”
He glanced at the clock. “Shouldn’t you be at work?”
“We’re not on till nine.” He stood, face growing serious. “Be careful, Trowa. Don’t let him hurt you.”
Trowa smiled. “I won’t. I think… Well, Quatre is known for his morals. I doubt he’d have friends who were untrustworthy.”
Heero nodded. “All right, call me later.”
“I will.”
Trowa watched Heero leave and shook his head. He was a mother hen, but Trowa couldn’t say he didn’t appreciate it. Heero had brought him back from the lowest and darkest point of his life and taught him to live again.
He shook off the morose thoughts of the past and grabbed his keys. Hopefully, the future waited.
-----Duo rarely gave much thought to what he wore, but he almost desperately wanted to make a good impression on this date. He was far from hard up for dates, but no one had made such a striking impression on him in such short a time as Trowa had. He stared at the bed full of shirts before settling on a soft blue sweater. He pulled it on and gazed into the full-length mirror. Gray slacks hung appealingly on hips and the cashmere sweater hugged his torso in all the right places. He sauntered out into the living room and spun toward the sofa. “What do y’all think?”
“Definite nosebleed,” Quatre exclaimed.
Wufei chuckled. “Hot enough for a first date without seeming too pathetically desperate for sex.”
Duo thought over the comments and grinned. “Perfect.” He snatched his keys. “I’ll see y’all later.”
He glanced to the clock on the dash every few seconds, lips pursing. He knew he should have left earlier. He was almost ten minutes late and he couldn’t call Trowa because he still didn’t have his number. It would have been nice if the other man had called him from his cell phone instead of the office phone to confirm their plans.
He pulled into the restaurant and jumped out as quickly as he could without looking like he was in a mad dash. Trowa was already seated at a booth, head ducked over a menu. Duo took a slow breath and moved toward the table, throwing on a smile as emerald eyes turned up to him.
“Sorry I’m late. Traffic was awful and Quatre felt the need to lay some ground rules.”
Trowa tilted his head. “Ground rules?”
He grinned. “Yep. Sorry, but no bedding you on the first date.”
He smirked. “So he set you up but won’t let you claim the prize?”
Duo flushed slightly. “Was it an obvious set up?”
“Actually, I didn’t realize it until Heero pointed it out. I did think it was strange to be asked to dinner out of the blue from a boss I hadn’t even started working for, though.”
Duo chuckled. “Welcome to life with Quatre.”
The server came to the table. They ordered their drinks and when she went to get them Trowa looked down to the menu. “Do you eat here often?”
“A few times. Their steaks are really good.”
“I’d hope so with it being a steakhouse.”
Their server returned with Trowa’s beer and Duo’s Jack and Coke, and they ordered their food.
Trowa took a long sip of his beer and appraised Duo. From what he could tell, Duo had a lot to offer to a prospective partner, so Trowa couldn’t figure out why he would even need to be set up. “Does Quatre do this often?”
“It’s been a few months, but often enough.”
“Not to sound rude, but I wouldn’t think you would be lacking in suitors.”
Duo laughed softly. “Long story short: I had a lover that died four years ago. The last two years Quatre’s made it his mission to help me find love again.”
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Me, too.” Duo shrugged. He smiled softly to Trowa. “But it’s in the past, and Solo would be disappointed if I didn’t move on, you know?”
Trowa nodded. “Yeah, I can agree with that. So… why did you ask me out?”
Duo raised an eyebrow. “Who wouldn’t ask out an unbearably beautiful man complete with intelligence and grace?”
He flushed slightly. “Beautiful? Looked in a mirror lately?”
The brunette laughed. “Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?”
“I,” Trowa wet his lips, “I’m looking for commitment. I’ve only been with one person, and I won’t sleep with someone unless they’re looking for a deeper relationship.”
He was afraid he may have been a bit too honest too early until Duo smiled softly, violet eyes gazing at his drink. “I’ve only been with two people, both of which I’d planned on forever. One died.”
Trowa couldn’t stop himself from asking. “And the other?”
“We discovered we weren’t as compatible as we’d hoped.”
“Did you love him?”
Duo nodded. “Still do, but I was never in love with him.”
Trowa studied the braided man. In many ways Duo was exactly what he was looking for in a lover. In other ways he was completely different from Trowa’s previous lover. In retrospect, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
A thin chestnut brow lifted and Trowa realized he was staring. He dropped his gaze to his wine. “Sorry.”
Duo chuckled. “Don’t be. It boosts a man’s ego to be ogled.”
Trowa laughed softly. “I’m not sure if your ego needs to be boosted.”
He grinned. “Wufei would agree with you there.”
Trowa settled back in his chair. “Were they lovers before Wufei started working for him?”
“They grew up together, actually. Wufei’s father was Quatre’s dad’s bodyguard. They were playmates for a long time and became lovers in high school. Quatre didn’t really want a bodyguard, but his father insisted and Wufei was hired.”
“Does his dad know about them?”
Duo’s smile fell slightly. “His dad died a few years ago, but yeah. He knew.” He rolled his eyes slightly and grinned. “He thought it was terribly romantic that Quatre’s lover was his bodyguard, too. And Quatre has that same romantic streak.”
Trowa nodded slowly and the discussion fell silent as their dinners were brought. He gazed at the braided man as he checked to make sure his steak was medium rare before allowing the server to leave.
“So, what do you do when you’re not gallivanting around the world with your camera?” Trowa asked before taking a bite of his salmon.
“I spend a lot of time restoring a ’57 Chevy 210. It’s my baby.”
Trowa took another bite. “I don’t really know much about cars.”
Duo raised a shoulder. “It’s a hobby. What about you? What do you do when you’re not working the most boring job in the world?”
He laughed. “It isn’t that bad.”
He lifted an eyebrow. “It isn’t interesting, either.”
“It pays well.”
“A job shouldn’t be about money. It should be doing something you love.”
“Not all of us have that luxury.”
Duo propped his chin on his fist. “If you could do anything you wanted, anything at all no matter how ridiculous, what would it be?”
Trowa paused with his fork halfway to his mouth and set it back down with a sigh. “All I’ve ever wanted was to be able to make a good living.”
“Come on, man, dream a little.”
Trowa studied Duo for a long moment before smirking. “Won’t Quatre be a little upset that you’re trying to convince his new accountant to quit?”
Duo laughed. “I don’t want you to quit, I’m just curious. So think about it. Anything in the world, what would you do?”
He tilted his head back slightly as he thought. “Once upon a time I wanted to be a gymnast.”
“So what happened?”
He shrugged and drained the rest of his beer. “I gave it up.”
“Why?”
He waved the server down and ordered a Jack and Coke. “My parents and sister died in an accident when I was young. I guess I just lost my drive.” He shook his head. “It wouldn’t have mattered. I injured my shoulder a couple of years later and would have had to give it up anyway.”
Duo grimaced, realizing he’d tapped into something that had completely destroyed the jovial mood. He reached over and covered Trowa’s hand with his own, waiting until the deep emerald eyes met his own before speaking. “So I guess that means you’re pretty flexible, huh?”
He smirked, mirth returning to his eyes. “If you’re lucky you may find out.”
Duo barked a laugh. “Damn, Trowa, you can’t tease a guy like that.”
He leaned over the table slightly. “Who says I’m teasing?” His drink arrived, stalling the conversation for a moment. He drained half of it and set it down gently, eyes focused on the glass. “I’m sorry. I’m not usually so forward.”
Duo laid his hand over Trowa’s on the table. “Trowa, look at me.” When the other man’s eyes met his own, he smiled softly. “You can be as forward with me as you want. Remember, I’ve sworn to not bed you tonight.”
Trowa stared into those blue-violet eyes and wet his lips. “I’m not used to…” He caught his bottom lip between his teeth.
“Used to what?”
He took a breath. “To being so swept away by someone. Normally I would never have met someone like this, no matter who set me up.”
Duo smiled and pulled Trowa’s hand to his lips, kissing the knuckles. “Don’t worry too much about being swept away, or the rarity of it. We’re in the same boat.”
Before Trowa could respond, his phone rang. “Sorry. Hello?” He listened for a moment, eyes widening. “Is he okay?... No, yeah, not a problem… Stop apologizing… Yes. I’m on my way.” He hung up and looked to Duo, brows drawing together. “I’m really sorry. I’ve got to go.”
“What happened?”
“A problem with Heero and Zechs needs my help.” He stared at the brunette across the table and reached back out to take his hand. “I really hate to cut this short.”
Duo gave him a small smile. “Maybe continue tomorrow?”
He squeezed Duo’s hand. “I’d like that.”
Duo stood as Trowa did and leaned over to place a kiss to his temple. “Call me.”
“I will.”
-----Zechs turned swiftly in the dressing room at the crash. Heero was lying on the floor, entire body trembling violently and a bruise already forming on his cheek where he’d hit the vanity.“Shit!” He crossed the small space, clearing everything away from his lover as he turned him to his side. He ran a gentle finger over Heero’s gasping lips, watching for any sign that the seizure was getting dangerous.
A pounding came to the door. “Everything all right in there?”
“Tell Treize we have to leave!”
Slowly the tremors faded and Heero closed his eyes, taking a deep, shaky breath. He wet his lips and slit his eyes open, tears leaking from the corners. “Zechs.”
“Shh,” he leaned down and kissed his forehead. “You’re all right.”
“What happened?”
Zechs looked over his shoulder as Treize came into the room, worry clear on his face. “A seizure.”
The older man pursed his lips. “Will he be okay?”
Zechs nodded. “After some sleep and pain meds. Can you sit up?”
“Without throwing up? Not sure. What the hell did I hit my head on?”
“The vanity.” Zechs lightly ran his fingertips over the forming bruise. “This one wasn’t that bad.”
He pursed his lips. “I’ve got a new prescription that I haven’t picked up yet.”
He sighed. “All right, let’s get you home.”
It took Treize’s help to get Heero dressed as he still fell weak and drowsy. They finally reached the car after half an hour. The drive home was made in tense silence. Zechs helped Heero upstairs and into bed, watching over him silently for a moment before blue eyes slit open and gazed up at him.
“My meds?”
“Damn.” Zechs brushed Heero’s hair from his forehead. He desperately didn’t want to leave his lover for any reason, much less leave the apartment complex. “Hold on.” He pulled out his phone and hit ‘2’ on the speed dial.
“What are you doing?”
“Calling Trowa.”
Heero gripped his arm. “His date.”
Zechs swore softly but it was too late as Trowa had already answered. “Hey, I really hate to bother you on your date, but Heero had a seizure… Yeah, he’s okay, but he’s got a new prescription and I don’t want to leave him alone. I’m really sorry… Are you sure?” He hung up and took a breath. “He’s on his way.”
Heero let his head fall back to the pillow, his brows drawn together in what Zechs knew was acute pain. The seizures always did this to him. “Get some rest.”
He left the bedroom and moved to the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of wine and draining half. This night had so not gone the way he’d wanted it to. He heard the front door unlock, open, and close; and moved to the living room. Trowa held up the bag from the pharmacy.
“Where is he?”
“Bedroom.”
Trowa nodded and went into the room while Zechs grabbed a bottle of water and followed. He found his lover’s best friend sitting on the edge of the bed. When they’d first hooked up, Zechs had found Heero and Trowa's close relationship threatening, but after months of close contact he'd finally understood they were more like close brothers than anything else.
Trowa glanced over his shoulder to Zechs. “Will you two be okay if Heero misses work a few days?”
Zechs started and sat on the other side of the bed, handing Heero the water. “We’ll figure it out.”
Heero nodded, taking the pills Trowa offered and swallowing them with the water Zechs handed him. “I can sell some stuff and-“
Trowa pursed his lips. “How far behind are you?”
The blond sighed softly. There was no point in secrets. “The last month has hit us hard.”
Trowa frowned. “How?”
“Third seizure in a month.” Heero glared at Zechs but he continued, ignoring his lover. “Between hospital bills, numerous tests, and prescriptions…”
Heero cut in, glaring harder at his lover. “We’ll be okay, Trowa.”
He shook his head and looked to Zechs. “Can you do it alone?”
The blond raised his chin. “Of course.”
“No!” Heero sagged under the effort it took to shout his denial. He looked to Trowa. “Treize depends on us. He’ll make him dance with someone else.”
Trowa understood their reservations with dancing with someone else. “What if I did it?”
Two shades of piercing blue shot to him.
“What?”
“Hell no!”
He sighed. “It’s one or two dances, right? You won’t have to worry about who touches Zechs.” He gave Heero a pointed stare before looking to the blond. “And you won’t have to worry about your dance partner taking it too far.”
Heero and Zechs exchanged glances, neither looking very happy. It touched Trowa that his friends didn’t want to drag him back into the world he’d worked to leave behind, but he couldn’t leave them hanging. They’d been there for him when he’d needed it.
“Look, I already know the routine so you won’t have to teach someone else. This is the best solution until Heero can get back on his feet.” He laid a gentle kiss to Heero’s forehead. “Let me do this for you.”
Heero’s brows drew together but he looked up to Trowa with infinite gratitude. “Thank you.”
-----Quatre sat at the foot of the bed and kicked his shoes off. He glanced to the clock. Duo and Trowa should be well into their date by now. “I hope it’s going well.”Wufei slid his belt off, hanging it on the hook on the closet door. “I’m sure they’re fine. I haven’t seen Duo that excited since Solo.”
He grinned cheekily at his husband. “So I did good?”
He couldn’t help but chuckle as he crossed to the bed to stand in front of his lover. “Yes, you did good.”
Quatre took Wufei’s hands, kissing each palm before running his hands up the Asian’s arms to his elbows. His grin turned to a smirk and Wufei suddenly found himself on his back on the bed, the blond hovering over him with heat in his eyes.
“One day you’re going to give me whiplash doing that.”
Quatre laughed softly as he nuzzled his husband’s neck. “Don’t worry. I’ll nurse you back to health.”
Laughing was the furthest thing from Wufei’s mind as the blond sucked and nipped at his neck while grinding their growing erections together. A turtle neck would be required for work tomorrow.
Strong, slim fingers trailed down his sides until they reached his hips and he bucked. “Tell me you’re not in a teasing mood tonight.”
A soft hum was his answer and he groaned when those playful lips trailed down his jaw and talented fingers worked on the buttons of his shirt. A wet tongue lapped at his exposed skin, drawing gasping breaths and pleading moans from his lips. He could have rushed things. He could have sped up the erotic torture. But Quatre loved driving him to mindless ecstasy… And he couldn’t truthfully say he minded it.
Quatre gazed up at the lust-darkened black velvet eyes of his lover as he dipped his tongue into the indention of his naval.
“Shit.”
The blond allowed a soft laugh as he moved down his husband’s body to lap at the tip of his erection. He coated one finger with lube and pressed it into Wufei as he took the tip of the heavy length into his mouth.
Wufei sucked in a gasp. “Fucking hell.”
Quatre chuckled as he moved up to lay a soft kiss on his lover’s lips. “I know… We’re destined for it.”
Wufei shook his head. “I hope not.”
“Such language. You remind me of Duo.”
He cupped his husband’s length and fisted it. “I better not resemble your best friend.”
“Doing that?” He groaned. “Hell no.”
He pulled away, gripping Wufei’s wrists gently and pressing them to the pillow on either side of Wufei’s head. “Remember who’s in charge here, love.”
Wufei felt a shudder run through him at the sultry heat in Quatre’s voice. “How could I forget?”
The blond smirked and resumed his exploration of very well-known territory. “That’s what I thought.”
Wufei fought to keep his breathing even, but Quatre wasn’t making it easy as his tongue and fingers taunted every sensitive spot on his body. Slick wetness raked up the tender skin of his inner thigh while that lone finger slid in and out of him. Light fingertips ran in circles over his lover abdomen, barely grazing the soft curls leading to the apex of his thighs. One day he was sure he’d die from the exquisite torture. He knew Quatre got off on holding power over another. It wasn’t malicious, though. He only enjoyed it if it brought pleasure to both parties. In a boardroom that meant tons of money. In the bedroom that meant Wufei screaming – loudly.
He pressed his head back into the pillow as a second finger entered him and Quatre lapped at the erotic zone in the cavern of his hip.
He wet his lips, thrusting back on the fingers. He knew what his lover wanted, and if he didn’t give it to Quatre, Wufei wouldn’t get what he wanted.
“Take me,” he whispered in a gravelly voice.
Quatre pushed a third finger into him. “All in good time, my love.”
Wufei groaned. “Good time, my ass. Take me now!”
The blond pulled his fingers out and covered his length in lube before positioning himself. “You know how much I love being inside you?”
Wufei pressed his head back into the pillow. “Hopefully at least,” he cut off as his husband slammed into him into the hilt, “as much as,” he gasped, “I love you in me.”
He’d expected heavy and hard, but Quatre had apparently decided that slow was the way to go and his back arched against his will. “Quatre?”
He shook his head, gazing into half-lidded onyx eyes. “I need you to know something.”
Wufei gasped softly as he met the slow rhythm. “What?”
“I love you beyond words.”
Wufei allowed a tender smile to lift the corners of his lips. “Same here.”
“I’d hope so.”
He laughed. “So, you need me to know,” he cut off at a particularly well aimed thrust and sucked in a breath before he could continue, “you needed me to know something I already knew?”
Quatre shook his head. “You’re the best I’ve ever had… heart, mind, and soul.”
Wufei stared up at his husband, feeling immensely loved, cherished, wanted, and needed. “And I could never live without you.”
Full lips curved into a sultry smile as Quatre pounded into Wufei, curling his palm around the Asian’s erection. “Cum with me.”
Wufei arched into the touch, unable to do more than willingly give his body fully over to his husband. He felt the heat coil as he was caressed inside and out. He tried in vain to control his breathing but heard his own panting breaths heavily in his ears as he was brought to the edge and tipped over in an explosion of pleasure. Moments later he felt the warmth of Quatre’s release deep inside him.
He sagged to the mattress beneath him, gasping for breath as his lover collapsed on top of him. Fortunately, Quatre didn’t weigh much at all. He wet his lips and kissed his lover’s neck. “Damn I love you.”
Quatre chuckled. “Good to know.”
They heard a door open and shut and both frowned, glancing to the clock. It was only a little after ten. Quatre slid from the bed and pulled on a pair of sweat pants before moving to the bedroom door. He leaned out and saw Duo heading to the guest room he’d been using.
“You’re back early.”
“Something came up and he had to go help Heero and Zechs. We’re supposed to get together tomorrow.”
“But it went well?”
Duo tilted his head slightly. “I think so.” He shrugged. “I guess I’ll know if I was really blown off if he doesn’t want to meet tomorrow.” He waved his hand when Quatre opened his mouth to speak. “I just wanna go to bed, Quat. Okay?”
“Okay. Night.”
TBC…
A/N And there Wufei goes and steals a scene. I hadn’t exactly planned that last part, but oh well. I think by now everyone knows how big a Fei fan I am. LOL
