Day broke. Goku bid the Briefs a good day and flew home. He smiled at the sensation of the sun\'s rays on his face. He landed on the doorsteps of his home. Slipping out of his jacket, Goku silently made his way indoors and tip-toed up the stairs. At the very top stood Chi Chi gazing down at him.
\"And just where were you all night?\" Chi Chi snarled.
Goku bore a huge grin. \"Hey, Chi Chi. Are the boys still asleep?\"
She uncrossed her arms and placed them on her hips. \"Yes. Don\'t change the subj-\"
\"Touch my tail!\" He pulled it from the belt loops and swished it about.
\"Oh, I\'ll touch it alright, \" she grinned wickedly.
Chi Chi grabbed his tail and held it in her fist. Blinding pain coursed throughout Goku\'s body. His vision blurred and faded to black as Chi Chi tightened her grip. The pain brought him to his knees and his forehead met the top of the stairs with a thud. He felt faint.
She released him. \"Now where were you, Goku?\"
Tears burned down his cheeks. As a response, Goku could only open his mouth as if to scream. The only noise that came out was a whimper.
\"Aww, did that hurt, Goku?\" Chi Chi laughed. \"Now you know how I felt when you stayed out all night. Where in KAMI\'s NAME WERE YOU!?\"
Goku\'s hands found their way to his backside where they began to rub and soothe the searing pain. His tail stood erect as he ground his forehead into the carpet. Growing impatient at his lack of responses, Chi Chi lurched forward to grab at the appendage. It found its way between Goku\'s legs and coiled around his thigh.
Goku grabbed a banister and pulled himself to his feet. \"I was at Vegeta and Bulma\'s,\" he rasped.
\"Really?\" Chi Chi folded her arms across her chest.
\"Yes!\" he yelled. \"If you want to call and ask, be my guest!\" His voice rose. \"Is that what you want, Chi Chi? To check up on me?\"
Her eyes grew wide. \"Quiet, Goku. You\'ll wake the boys.\"
\"I\'m surprised you haven\'t already,\" he said coolly. He got louder. \"What has been your problem lately. You\'ve been yelling at me, talking down at me--treating me like a damn child!\"
Two sets of eyes peered around the corner above Chi Chi\'s head.
\"Do you think I\'m stupid, Chi Chi?\"
\"No, no, Goku, but please, lower your voice.\"
\"Again with the orders! You want to control me? Fine! Do whatever the hell you want! Let\'s just see how easy it is when I\'m not around!\"
The boys flinched. Goku softened his gazed before shifting it in the boys\' general direction.
\"I love you, my sons,\" he whispered. \"Gohan. Goten. Please forgive your father.\"
Goku clutched his jacket in one hand as he brought two fingers from the other to his forehead.
\"Daddy!\" Goten screamed as he ran towards him.
\"Father,\" Gohan ran after Goten.
Before they got to him, Goku flickered out of sight. The boys stopped at their mother\'s side and grabbed hold of her. The three sank to sit on the top step holding on to one another as if holding on to dear life itself. Tears began to burn their faces.
\"I--,\" Chi Chi began.
Gohan pushed stray strands of hair from her face. \"Mother. What happened?\"
\"I guess--I--I drove him away,\" Chi Chi sobbed.
\"Will he come back?\" Goten asked.
\"Of course he\'ll come back... to see you boys. He loves you.\"
She cupped her face in her hands as she thought \'It\'s me he hates.\'
