Part 30

Disclaimer: I don’t own any of the Gundam boys or their world, I just like to imagine them in my own little world (which is totally of my making). No profits (as in no money made by me) are made from this story, just gratuitous pleasure.

Summary: They were thrust together at the age of 14, members of an assassins guild, then rudely ripped apart at the age of 21. Now, three years later, Duo walks back into Heero's life. The rollercoaster ride has just begun as they must learn to live together once more and to love each other again. Life isn’t always easy, living with Duo, and Heero has to fight hard to remember that.

pikeebo: I hope that you are still with me here, sorry it’s been so long. Life seems to be getting in the way of my free time. But I am still working away at this, although it is going slowly at the present. Thanks for your continued support.

onidra Thanks for your support. It looks like this will be winding down in the next two or three chapters. I hope you stay with me until the end. Sorry it’s been so long, hopefully life will let me have some free time so I can get back to doing what I like to do instead of what I have to do.

Pull the Trigger and the Nightmare Stops…

“dear my friends in the time we've spent forever after beyond this when will our nightmare ever end?
pull the trigger and the nightmare stops...”

Part 30

~*~

Heero arrived back at the room to find Duo half dressed and fighting with his shirt. And it looked as if the shirt was winning the battle.

“Need a hand, babe?” Heero asked with a hint of amusement in his voice.

“Yeah,” replied a disgruntled Duo. “I can’t move my arm properly with this bandage. Can’t button the damned pants and the shirt won’t cooperate in the least.”

“Here. Stand still,” said Heero, moving towards his frustrated lover. He reached for the pants first. “Seems odd, doing them up. Seems like I should be taking them off, instead.”

“Heero!” Duo exclaimed. “This is not the time to be talking like that.”

“No? Then what should I be talking about?” he asked innocently as he pulled the shirt up Duo's other arm and began to button it.

“Something that isn’t going to get me hard!” retorted Duo, a blush crossing his face.

“Am I getting you hard?” teased Heero, brushing his hand across Duo's burgeoning erection, getting a moan from his lover.

“Stop,” moaned Duo, trying to pull away.

“Alright, sweetheart,” said Heero, moving back and looking at the reaction he had caused. “Looks like we need to cover that.”

He looked around and decided that one of the blankets from the bed would work. Draping it over Duo's shoulders, he then swept his unsuspecting wife up into his arms. Duo immediately began to struggle.

“Put me down,” Duo sputtered. “I can walk, you know.”

“Ah, babe,” replied Heero in a calming voice. “Indulge me just a bit. I seldom have you helpless and at my mercy, so I want to take advantage of it. And if you keep squirming like that, I’m going to drop you on your ass.”

“You’re impossible,” huffed Duo, but his agitated movements ceased. “Don’t think you’ve heard the last of this, Yuy. Helpless and at your mercy, my ass. I’ll give you helpless.”

Heero just laughed and carried him out to the waiting car. Regardless of what Duo said, Heero knew he really wasn’t ready to do any strenuous moving. By the time they reached the car, however, Duo had cuddled into his arms and allowed him to do as he wished. It really did feel nice to have Heero care for him, although he would never openly admit that to Heero. After all, he did have an image to maintain, didn’t he?

The pain was starting to take hold by now, and Duo thought for a moment that he might have been just a bit hasty to outright reject the offer of sedation for the ride ahead. Oh, well. Sally had made mention of pain killers, hadn’t she? Heero must have them on himself somewhere. Duo just needed to ask.

“Ah, 'Ro?” Duo asked tentatively once Heero had him settled in the back seat.

“What is it, babe?” Heero inquired, as he made ready to get in the car.

“Ah, do you have those pain killers that Sally mentioned? And some water? I think I’m ready for some now,” said Duo.

“Of course,” replied Heero. “Here’s the meds, let me go back to the house for some bottles of water.”

“Thanks, 'Ro,” said Duo gratefully, leaning back against the seat, trying to get comfortable.

Heero left quickly, wanting to get on the road as soon as possible. Duo, meanwhile, was left alone with the two agents.

“Hey, ladies,” he greeted them.

“Mrs Yuy,” responded one of the agents, stiffly. “I’m Agent Greene and this is Agent White. We’ll be your drivers for this trip.”

Oooh. That was just a bit frosty. Must have had a run in with Heero. Duo grinned at the thought. Heero had a way of running rough-shod over anyone that he felt was thwarting his plans. He’d bet anything that the agent had felt the rough side of Heero's tongue. Oh, well. Better her then him. He’d been the recipient of Heero's high handed manner several times before. He had learned how to handle the stubborn Heero Yuy, but that was a secret that he wasn’t about to share with anyone. Let them learn on their own. Heero's return brought him out of his private musing.

“Here you go,” said Heero, tossing Duo a bottle of water, then getting in the car. “When ever you’re ready, agent.”

Agent Greene made no reply, opting to try not to piss the assassin off again. She found the situation just a bit annoying, but was too professional to allow it to show. Time enough to grumble later, in private, to her partner.

They headed out and Duo lay back, letting the pain killers start to do their work. About 45 minutes later, he was feeling pretty good. And playful.

He unsnapped his seatbelt and nudged Heero, getting him to open his arm. Heero turned slightly and cuddled the happy Duo up close to his chest.

“So, what did you do to that agent?” Duo whispered into Heero's ear. In a low voice, Heero recounted the episode. Duo laughed, trying to bury his face in Heero's shoulder so it wouldn’t be so loud. It was just as he though.

“So, Heero, remember what you were saying earlier, in our room?” Duo asked in a low, sultry voice. “I still have that little problem.”

“Duo,” said Heero. “Don’t. This isn’t the time or place.”

“Aw. We can play just a little,” said Duo and he began to kiss Heero seductively on the neck. “It’s a long ride and I feel good right now. And I want to make out with you. We’ve never been in the backseat of a car together.”

“Fine,” agreed Heero, knowing it would be easier in the long run to go along with Duo's drug induced whim then to try to fend him off. “Kissing only. NO touching.”

“None?” asked Duo, with a slight pout.

“None,” replied Heero, a note of finality in his voice.

“Then kiss me,” whispered Duo, turning his face up to Heero's.

There were no words after that, although Heero managed to get several deep throated moans out of Duo, which the agents in the front seat did their best to ignore.

Soon enough, Duo felt himself growing a bit sleepy and opted to cuddle in closer to Heero and take a nap. The next couple of hours passed in relative peace as Heero took the opportunity to doze as well. It had been a long night, with little sleep and he trusted his instincts and the agents in the front seat to keep himself and Duo safe for the time being.

The agents sat in the front without talking, not knowing exactly what the pair in the back would be able to hear of their conversation and not wanting to cause any more misunderstandings. Agent Greene put the radio on softly and let the music ease some of the heavy silence.

~*~

Some three or four hours had passed when Heero felt the car slowing. He came awake instantly, hand reaching for the gun concealed under his jacket, eyes alert for any threat.

“Agent Greene?” he queried.

“Just stopping for gas and a bathroom break,” she responded. “That is, if it’s alright with you.”

“Fine,” he grunted in response, noting the bit of flippancy in the agents reply, but chose to ignore it. He turned his attention to Duo. “Hey, baby, wake up.”

Duo opened sleepy indigo eyes and yawned cutely. He blinked, trying to get his bearings as his still drugged brain sluggishly clicked into gear.

“What’s up, 'Ro?” he asked, stretching his cramped back.

“Pit stop,” replied Heero.

“Good,” said Duo. “I gotta pee. And I’m hungry. Are we going to eat, too?”

“We’ll see,” said Heero. “Depends on what’s around the place we stop. You may have to settle for snacks for now.”

“If I only get snacks, you’re gonna have to spring for a big dinner later,” Duo informed him.

“Fine,” agreed Heero.

They had pulled off the highway by then, but all there was in the vicinity was a couple of gas stations with convenience stores. Duo snorted his displeasure at not getting a real meal, but he knew that Heero would come through with a good dinner later on. Agent Greene pulled up to the pump and Agent White accompanied Heero and Duo into the store, trying her best to make it seem as if they were really just a group of friends on a road trip.

Duo headed for the bathroom immediately, but stopped at the door, looking back at Heero. Heero merely looked at him and quirked an eyebrow as he sauntered along behind.

“Ah, Heero?” Duo asked hesitantly.

“Yes?” Heero answered, smirking at Duo's discomfort.

“Are you gonna make me ask?” Duo asked, his hand on the bathroom door’s handle.

“Ask what, babe?” Heero returned innocently.

“Damnit, Heero,” Duo blustered.

“What, babe,?” Heero asked, still feinting innocence.

“You know I can’t undo my pants with my arm like this,” Duo replied though gritted teeth.

“Oh. Are you trying to say you need my help with your zip?” Heero asked, coming closer.

“Yes,” Duo grated.

“All you have to do is ask me,” replied Heero.

“Heero, would you stop fucking with me and get in here and unzip my damned pants?” Duo finally demanded.

“Well, if you put it that way, how can I resist such an offer?” Heero teased.

Duo's face flamed red and he stomped into the bathroom, slamming the door behind himself.

“I’m going to go give Duo a hand,” Heero called over to the incredulous agent.

Is this really how he thinks to stay inconspicuous, thought Agent White, by this senseless sexual banter? Oh, well. He’s the one in charge of security. Annie and I are only the drivers, as Simon so nicely pointed out to us.

Heero disappeared into the bathroom, laughing and a few minutes later a fuming Duo emerged.

“One day, I’m gonna kill that joker,” he snarled as he stalked past the girl. “He thinks he’s cute. Wait until I get the use of my arm back. Then he’s gonna pay, big time.”

Duo continued to grumble as he prowled the aisles, gathering an assortment of snacks. He dumped them on the counter, then waited for Heero. A couple of minutes later Heero wandered up to add a couple of more items to the pile.

“My laughing friend here is paying,” Duo informed the clerk, then gathered his purchases and stomped out of the store. Heero only laughed again as he took out his wallet to pay.

The agent standing behind him only shook her head.

“He’s so much fun when he’s pissed off,” Heero commented, grinning as he followed Duo out to the car.

“You’re an asshole, Yuy,” were the words he was met with when he got back to the car.

“Aw, you say the sweetest things, babe,” said Heero, a smirk on his face, opening the door for Duo.

“Humph,” snorted Duo, getting in the car and sitting as close to the opposite door as he possibly could. He started in on his snacks and glared at Heero when the other cast an eye in his direction.

“And don’t even think I’m going to share my chips and cookies with you, either,” said Duo in a lofty voice.

“I wouldn’t dream of it,” replied Heero, unwrapping his granola bar.

“I want steak for dinner tonight,” Duo demanded.

“We’ll have to see what’s available when we stop for the night,” Heero said.

“It better be somewhere good,” Duo told him.

“I’m not driving,” Heero responded.

“Then you’d better tell the driver that she’d better damned well make sure there’s a decent place to eat when we stop,” retorted Duo.

“Is this why your manager and produces said you were difficult to work with?” asked Heero.

“I am not being difficult!” Duo exclaimed, slightly offended by Heero's attitude. “I am just trying to make sure that I am properly taken care of.”

“Oh. Is that what you call it?” Heero laughed.

“You know what, Yuy? Fuck you,” retorted Duo and did his best to turn his back on Heero.

Heero just laughed softly at him. Duo continued to ignore Heero, glaring out the window until his shoulder started to ache again. Then he was obliged to ask Heero for some more pain killers. He gritted his teeth and forced himself to speak nicely to Heero, even though he was still a bit pissed off at him for his earlier antics.

“Heero,” Duo called to his lover, peeking at him through his unruly bangs. “Ah, do you think you could give me a couple more of those pain killers?”

“I think I could,” replied Heero, but made no move to give Duo any of them. Heero, it seemed, was still in the mood to torment the hapless Duo.

“Well?” asked Duo, when no pain relief was forth coming.

“Well what?” asked Heero, restraining a smile.

“The pain killers,” said Duo, waiting.

“What about them?” asked Heero.

“Are you going to give me some of them?” Duo demanded.

“You didn’t ask me to give you any,” replied Heero, innocently.

“Yes, I did!” exclaimed Duo.

“No,” disagreed Heero. “You only asked if I thought I could give you some, and I agreed that I thought I could.”

“What? Why… Yuy, you asshole,” Duo sputtered. “Give me the fucking pain killers or I’m going to hit you.”

“All you had to do was ask,” responded Heero, handing Duo two of the pills.

“I did!” screamed Duo.

“No, you never actually asked me to give you any of them,” pointed out Heero.

“You asshole,” Duo repeated, throwing the pills into his mouth and chugging the rest of his water. He muttered to himself for a while and Heero chuckled at his ire.

Finally the pills began to take the edge off of the pain and Duo decided to forgive Heero, crawling into his lap to cuddle before he fell asleep again.

The beat of Heero's heart and his steady breathing soothed Duo as peace once again came over the car.

The agents in the front breathed a silent sigh of relief in the quiet. It this was any indication of how the rest of the trip was going to be, it was going to be a long one indeed.
