Ed was prodding the eggs, bouncing on his toes while he waited when the door rang. “Got it!” His feet pounded and the door was flung open without checking. He grinned at the young blond woman standing on the step. “Hi.” He stood smiling while she stared at him.
“Who is it?” Roy’s voice floated from down the hall.
The blond turned and yelled over his shoulder. “I dunno, a pretty girl.” He turned back to scowl at her. “I hope you’re not here for him, he’s taken.”
“Ed, I’m here for you! How could you not call or write? You jerk!” Winry clonked him over the head a few times with her purse before dropping to her knees and hugging him. He just sat, staring at her in shock.
Roy wandered down the hall buttoning his cuffs. “Really, Edward, how many times have I told you not to open the door without checking? I…” HE stopped and linked, then sighed. “Bring her into the kitchen.”
Ed looked up at him in confusion. “Roy, who is this?” He stood, carrying the light weight to sit in a chair and stood behind it, watching her cry.
“She’s an old friend of yours, Winry Rockbell. She’d an auto-mil mechanic from Rissembool.” The older man stepped around to grab some coffee and turn off the eggs.
Tears stained the round face that turned up to look at Ed. “You, really don’t remember?” Ed shook his head. “Really?”
“No, I’m sorry. I don’t remember very much.” He shifted back when she tried to grab him but patted her hand.
Roy leaned against the counter, sipping his morning drink. “He lost all his memories. Has Al written? He mentioned he would.”
Her eyes narrowed at him and she turned away, refusing to look. “Do not speak to me.”
“Hey, don’t talk to him like that.” Ed came to his defense even though he just shrugged it off. It was alright for her to hate him, he deserved it.
“Why not? He’s just a murderer and I won’t forgive him, even if you do.”
“He is not! Roy wouldn’t do something like that. He’s a good person.”
The cup settled on the counter with a clink. “Ed.”
“He did too, ask him. He shot my parents, under orders.” Fresh tears started but when Ed turned horrified eyes to him, he could make out a faint smirk.
“Ed, I…” There were no words, no excuses. He ached to scream at her, for doing this, for hurting his darling but nothing came. He looked into those mocking eyes and knew. She’d come here deliberately, to destroy him.
Ed was looking at him like he as a monster and he drowned, helpless before the malicious blue he couldn’t blame. The darker blond backed away, reaching for the door. He stumbled out and the girl caught him, letting him lean on her, murmuring reassurances as she led him to the waiting car. One last triumphant glance and they were gone, Ed not even looking up from his hands.
Roy stood, staring after them until his legs gave out and he knelt, bruising his knees on the hard porch, waiting. Hours passed, the phone rang, the neighbors stared and he waited; Ed would come back, he had to. Finally, someone called the police. A kind officer talked him inside and called Riza’s number from beside the phone. She was there in minutes, Black Hayate on her heels, and took over. Roy told her everything while she cleaned up the kitchen and made him tea. He sat, staring blankly at it and refused to leave, determined Ed was coming back.
Blue eyes rolled but she called in for him and sat staring back until he felt awkward enough to talk. He chatted about Ed and his lab, the things they’d done on the weekend, places he wanted to take him, when Al was due to visit again, how pleased he was with his progress during his changes, anything he could think of. Finally, he was silent again, a hand absently petting the black and white dog. “He’s coming back, isn’t he?”
“I don’t know, sir. You’ll have to ask him that.” She shifted and drank her tea.
The black eye focused on her. “He’s everything, he had to come back. What will I do if he doesn’t?” A single tear slid down his cheek and he didn’t bother wiping it away.
“Sir. Roy. He loves you. It was a shock but he does. I’m sure he’ll come back, if only to tell you he isn’t. He wouldn’t just walk away; he’d tell you off and let you know exactly what he thought. Give him time.”
He smiled a bit. “That’s not very reassuring.”
A tiny smile graced her lips. “It wasn’t meant to be.” She stood and took his still full cup. “Now, come to work sir. There are many reports to be read.” His head dropped but he stood and retrieved his coat, waiting patiently for her to take him in.
Work was long and he rushed home to see if he’d come back yet. The house was empty and stayed that way for two days. Every day, he rushed home and explored the house again, checking for calls or any sign of Ed.

The train was strangely quiet; at least it seemed that way to Ed. His head felt strange, maybe he was just tuning everything out in an attempt to think. Winry tried to talk to him but he ignored her, or answered in little grunts.
“Ed? Edward!” He looked over, surprised she was still talking.
“Can you please pay attention?” Her arms wrapped around his metal arm and she pressed close.
“Sorry, I was thinking.” He’d already decided to go back. He would at least ask Roy about it; he’d been shocked, hurt that he hadn’t told him, but he would go back. It didn't seem to be worth the fit he was pretty sure this girl would throw if he said anything, so he would just go when he had a chance.
“About him? Don’t worry, once we’re home, everything will be fine. I’ll have a look at your arm and leg too; who knows how they’ve treated my masterpiece.” And her determination that parts of him belonged to her made him uncomfortable enough to shift away a little.
He looked out the window and felt her hide her face against the back of his shoulder where the flesh and metal joined. “Ed? I, um, I really like you.” His head whipped around to stare at her and he felt the heat of her face through his shirt. Blue peeked up at him. “I love you.”
“Love me?” A picture formed in his head; of a shabby hotel in a crappy town he’d never cared enough to learn the name of. Of Roy looking up at him, grinning and telling him he loved him, kissing him, teasing him, hugging him, taunting him, loving and spoiling him. Other images forced their way in; the stone, the drive to get Al’s body back, Al following him, fighting with him, loving him even when he didn’t deserve it, friends, missions, everything flooded back. His eyes flew open and he gasped; Winry looked up from her place at his side and he realized only seconds had passed.
“Why? Why did you do this?” Cold eyes watched her.
“Wh..what? Ed, he’s a murderer, a monster! He killed my parents!” The blond girl pulled back to stare up at him in confusion.
“I remember. I also remember telling you it didn't matter; he suffers more by himself than anything you could do to him. I’m going back. Why couldn’t you just let it go?” A small fist hit his chest, hard enough to make him flinch back.
“All you think of is him. What about me?” She was crying again but he stood, shaking her off.
He looked down sadly, wishing it could be different. “Just because he won’t stop you, doesn’t mean you can do anything you want.” He walked to the door and pulled it open, looking for someone to tell him when the next train headed back.
“But, but I love you!”
His shoulders dropped a bit but he didn’t look back. “If you loved me, I’d be at home with Roy.” He closed the door softly behind him and walked away.
There was no train back until morning and he spent the night in the tiny hotel, without even a phone to call with. The return train was hot and uncomfortable and his stomach growled from being denied food; he couldn’t talk himself into eating the ‘breakfast’ of cold eggs and burnt toast.

4:45. He looked away and peeked back. Still 4:45. Almost, just relax, almost. Roy listened for the sound of footsteps but only faint murmurs came from outside his door. A paper drew his attention, something else deathly boring to look at, read, and sign. Maybe, if he left them alone, they would grow and run away. A scientific experiment, right on his desk; surely Riza would be kind enough to let him have that. He giggled and realized dimly that lack of sleep was making him giddy. A bang and screeching came from the outer office and he perked up his ears. This might be enough distraction to escape in.
“Where is he? That useless bastard. Get out here! I know you’re in there, asshole!” He blinked; that sounded a lot like Ed, except Ed didn’t talk like that anymore. His chair scrapped lightly as he stood, evidently enough to draw attention, and his door burst open. He stared; Ed stood in the door, panting, practically foaming with rage, and abusing him for something. Words started to make sense. “Left me there, you IDIOT, just let me walk away, spent the night in the shittiest hotel ever, and I’ve seen some shitty ones, you BASTARD, no breakfast and you didn’t even come after me, I’m starving, it’s all your fault. Such an ASSHOLE, you’re lucky I love you or you’d be a little puddle, got it? Fucking prick.”
“Edward?” Nothing else came but he was moving forward and threw himself on the blond, knocking them over to lie in the doorway. “You came back!”
“What? Of course I did. Stupid moron, like I would just take off.” A gentle hand brushed his hair back and soft kisses were placed on his forehead. “You’re such a bastard, just letting me walk away like that. You didn’t even try to stop me.”
“I, I thought you hated me, that you wouldn’t want to be near me. I thought maybe you weren’t coming back, I was so scared, I love you, love you so much. I need you, I” A quick tongue invaded his mouth, cutting him off.
The blond pulled back enough to rest their forehead together. “I remember, everything.” Roy jerked back. “Yes, everything. And, just for the record, I had decided to come back even before I did.” He grinned up. “And, I expect a bigger lab and an extension of my funds, damn it. Cheapskate.”
“I was concerned for your safety. And you’ll have to fill out a grant request like everyone else.” He smiled down, glad to have this teasing back, glad to have EDWARD back.
“What? What’s the point of sleeping with a general unless he’s gonna give me a break?” He laughed at the look on Roy’s face. “Yeah, yeah, I’ll get right on that.” He bucked a little to be free. “Up, I want to talk to you without these idiots staring.”
Roy looked up to find his staff watching silently, listening to every word they said. He blushed and stood, scooting back inside quickly, Ed’s hand in his. He was barely turned around before he was leaped on and pushed towards his desk.
His butt hit the edge and he sat by reflex. Ed’s hands on his hips moved him back further and the blond hopped up to straddle his lap. “Now, I believe some repayment is in order.” If he’d had both eyes, they’d have been stuck crossed; the damn man was hard and rubbing just right and ummm.
“Yesss, please do.” His hands settled on those slim hips, rocking and squeezing. A knock on the door had him panting out “What?”
“You still have those forms, sir. I expect them tomorrow morning.”
“Ye-s, of cour-se.” Ed wasn’t waiting; his hands already down the front of the blue pants, mouth on the exposed neck. A loud sigh was heard from the other side of the door, then the lock turned and she was gone. “Remind me to get her a present.” A vague hum from his neck and sharp teeth sunk in. The wet tongue slid up to his ear and hot and cold hands rubbed him firmly. “Ed, I can’t”
“I know.” Lick. “Go ahead; you can make it up to me later.” Another squeeze and hot air blew over his skin, sending shivers down his back and spasms through his cock. He bit back the yells and tasted blood from his lip. Ed was licking his hands clean, sucking each digit carefully, when he opened his eye. The black eye watched lazily and captured the last one, nibbling the pad before taking the entire finger in to swirl his tongue around it. Gold fluttered out of sight and the long hair tilted back.
Smooth skin was too great a temptation and he leaned forward to taste, nipping gently while he undid the tight black pants. A hand snuck in and curled around the hot length, rubbing the vein along the base and thumbing the head. A low moan made him smile and he moved, stroking quickly. As much as he enjoyed this he wanted his bed and his blond, preferably naked under him. Fast strokes and he nipped the shell of a prefect ear, lapping the edges while the young man shrieked and bucked under his hands.
“Come home, we’ll celebrate properly.” A whisper against blond hair and it moved slowly in a dazed nod. Roy dressed them quickly and raced the younger man to the car. They made it half way there before they ended up again a wall, groping and kissing frantically.
“Fuck, bastard, we’ll never get home like this. This way.” He was dragged down the hall and shoved into a tiny closet with a door that blended into the wall.
“What? Where did this come from?” Ed blushed and looked away.
“I, ah, made it.” He tried to grab but his hands were captured so Roy could think; he did some mental spacial rearrangements.
“This is, right beside the library. The restricted archives are right around here, if I remember correctly. Am I right?” More blushing and the blond pulled his hands free.
“I thought you wanted to fuck? So get on with it.” With such a charming invitation, how could he resist? He snickered against hot skin and nipped, undoing buttons and sliding the zipper down to release the already hard length. His hands slid easily from base to tip and blond hair tipped back to rest on the wall. “Ah, now, bastard, too long, now.” The metal hand freed him and wrapped lightly around his hot flesh. Slim hips moved into the contrasting hold and he moaned into soft hair.
“Ed, I don’t have anything, I”
“I do, here.” Thick liquid slicked his hand and it was dragged down between gold thighs. His fingers probed and slipped in, his hand muffling small screams. A few seconds of stretching and he couldn’t wait any more. He slicked himself and pressed gently. A quick flinch and Ed pulled himself up to balance on his hips, legs wrapped around him. The blond nipped his neck and rubbed. “Now, hurry up.” Roy shoved him against the wall and pressed again, nudging the tip past tight muscle.
His forehead met Ed’s and he stared into his eyes. “Love you.” He pressed the rest of the way in and stood shaking. “Love you, love you, love you.”
The slow pace wasn’t enough for Ed and he bit, hard. “Hurry up!” The older man laughed and moved faster, shifting to rub the prostate on each pass, one hand combing gold curls to reach the twitching erection. Mismatched fingers dug into his shoulders and his mouth was forced open by a demanding tongue; screams were swallowed and thick seed covered his hand. He pumped again and shivered, twitching with release.
“I want this destroyed, and your word that you won’t make anything like it again.” A little nose nuzzled his neck. “Edward.”
“Fuck, you’re so unromantic. What a jerk, I hope you didn’t treat your girlfriends like this. Yeah, yeah, not like I need it anymore anyways.” Roy’s mouth flattened and he pulled back. “Alright, fine. I’ll fix it and won’t make another one. Tomorrow?”
The adorable grin made him smile back. “Yes, tomorrow will be fine.” They actually made it to the car and most of the way home before Ed’s hands started to wander again.
Roy called in in the morning. Riza informed him he was already short on time off but he begged cutely and, while she rolled her eyes and sighed, he was freed. He let Ed carry him back to bed and proceeded to spend the entire day there, except for times he had to feed the pest, which led back to bed.
Yay! Remembers! I think the shock of being away from Roy for the first time since he met him again and the repeating of an old phrase, one that was closely tied in with their relationship would be plenty to bring it all back.
Ed was prodding the eggs, bouncing on his toes while he waited when the door rang. “Got it!” His feet pounded and the door was flung open without checking. He grinned at the young blond woman standing on the step. “Hi.” He stood smiling while she stared at him.
