Chapter 4
Ok, here we go. Next chapter, as promised. Thanks to the people who have reviewed so far: Hikaru, Asha, Keba-kun, and the ever faithful cuylerjade. Thanks guys! I'd also like to point out that I made some changes to the end of chapter three, just some little ones.
Chapter 4
The specialist’s office was only a ten minute walk away and they shook the snow off their boots and spoke with the receptionist. There was an opening in an hour, so they waited, talking quietly and filling out the admission forms.
A handsome woman of about fifty with dark brown hair stepped into the room and walked over. “Edward Elric? And your younger brother, Alphonse?” She looked at Ed and Al in turn and Ed decided he loved her; he could count the people who guessed right the first time on a single hand. They nodded and she motioned them after her. “I’m Doctor Elsha Devans.” Ed balked and looked back at Envy, who was sitting quietly, chewing a finger nail.
“What about…” He waved his hand towards her.
“I need to see you each individually and you can come in together after that. Come now.” Al went to stay with her but his chair was kicked out from under him before he could sit. He shrugged it off and followed his brother and the doctor.
“Well. This is interesting. I just got off the phone with Dr. Katil from down the street and he assures me that you are in fact pregnant. I have a few questions about your general health and I’d like to do an examination.” Ed licked his lips and nodded again. “Alright, let’s start with your job. It says here you are both State Alchemists, is that correct?” Nods. “You work mostly research now, Edward?” He nodded slightly.
“I run the odd mission, but mostly research. Specializing in medical applications and chemical breakdowns.”
“Hmm. It says both parents are deceased. Any diseases that I should be aware of?”
Al answered for him. “Mom had heart problems. She died when we were 9 and 10. Dad died a few years ago, in an accident.”
She just nodded and made notes. “And you are single, Edward?”
“I don’t think I can be called that, really. It’s, complicated. En, Tiffany is my partner.” He fidgeted and squeezed Al’s hand tightly.
“Hmm, well this is going to be interesting. You won’t be able to go on missions from now on. I’ll write you a note for your superior officer and I can be reached any time during the day.” They nodded at her. “You need to limit your exposure to chemicals, fumes, and large scale alchemy. I understand it can be a shock to the body and those are to be avoided at all costs. This will not be easy, for any of you.” Dark eyes examined them carefully. “You are absolutely certain you want to do this? I’m not encouraging you otherwise, but it is a big responsibility and a lot of work. Even a low risk pregnancy can be dangerous and difficult.”
Al gasped when his hand was squeezed hard enough to turn the tips of his fingers white. “I want to, this is my responsibility and I will take care of it. Just tell me what to do and I’ll do it.” The famed Elric stubbornness showed through. Al nodded and she smiled for the first time.
“Excellent. I’m very excited for you and we’ll do our best to make sure you both come through in good health.” They blinked at the sudden change. “Hop up here and take off your shirt, let’s have a look at you.” She patted the table and Ed stood slowly, slipping his shirt over his head. Soft hands turned him and ran over his shoulders and down his sides to his stomach. “Good, looks like you have a good base to work from. Staying in shape is important, but nothing heavy. Plenty of walking, swimming might be something to think about.” Her hands massaged his stomach gently to get a feel for future changes. His breathing and pulse rate were checked while she asked questions about his weight, physical symptoms, and emotional state.
“Alright. So far you look like you’re in good condition to continue. Here’s a list of foods to help you balance your diet and I’d like to see you in two weeks. Alphonse, why don’t you go make the appointment and grab the information package for new mothers, I’d like to speak with your brother.” Al slipped out, leaving Ed sitting looking at the floor.
Her chair scraped on the floor as Elsha scooted over to sit beside him. “Edward, if anything is bothering you, you can tell me. Anything you tell me is confidential, I can’t tell anyone else. I’m here to help you, we’ll get through this together, ok?” He nodded a little. “Would you like to talk about the birth now or next time?”
“Next time, please.” He hunched his shoulders and set a hand on his stomach. “This, is real, right? I’m really having a baby?”
“Yes, you are. Everyone feels like that at first. You’ll probably feel a little insecure and overly emotional for a bit, but you have your brother, your girlfriend, and me, not to mention your friends and family. We’re all here for you. In a couple of months you’ll really be able to see it and you might even feel it move a bit. We’ll talk about what to expect as the time comes, so you aren’t too surprised.” She patted his hand. “Feel ok?”
He smiled a bit and nodded before standing to grab his coat and head out to sit in the waiting area with Al. Envy ignored the call for her to come in and needed a little push from her lover. Ed hissed at her. “You promised, now move it.” In a louder voice, he offered for Al to go with her.
A haughty look and she pushed up, swatting at the hand that moved to help. “I’m not helpless, unlike some little pipsqueaks.” They snarled at each other until Al firmly placed his hand on the redhead’s back and shoved her towards the room, shutting the door behind her.
“Hello, Tiffany.” The little nose pointed in the air. “How are you feeling?”
“Like shit.”
“I expect so. You are right in the middle of the most common time for morning sickness.” The older woman leaned back, balancing her writing board on a knee. “I can give you something for it, if you want. I’ll have to examine you first, to see how stable you are, and you need to answer some questions for me.”
An indelicate snort. “No. How long left?”
“Until the baby is born? About seven months. May I ask some questions?” She didn’t wait for an answer. “How long have you been experiencing morning sickness?”
“Since that little bastard knocked me up. And it’s all day, not like him, the prick. He just gets to be sick in the morning and feels fine all day, while I puke constantly.” Her face flushed with anger and Elsha put her pen down.
“You’re pretty upset with him. Because he cheated? Or because you’re pregnant?” The redhead flushed more and looked away. Her hands tangled in her lap and she nibbled her bottom lip. “You can tell me, I can’t talk to him or anyone else.”
“Screw you. It’s not FAIR, I didn’t do anything to deserve this! I’m weak and tired and I can’t even go outside anymore, and, and” She choked on ragged sobs and pounded her fists against the table, making little dents. “I hate this, I don’t want this!”
“Do you not want the baby?” The small body shuddered violently and huddled into a ball on the table. “Do you want to terminate the pregnancy? We can if you want. It’s your body, so your choice.” Sniffles accompanied the shaking hair. Dark eyes narrowed. “Is he making you have it?”
“Like he could.” The doctor approached and sat beside her. “That little bastard, this is his fault.” A gentle hand tucked long bangs back and invited the small body to lean on her. A vicious shove and she flew into the wall with a crash. Voices could be heard outside the door and it flew open, Ed and Al racing in. Al immediately moved over to help the doctor and Ed grabbed his lover’s hands.
“What are you doing? You can’t just hit people!” Heavy sobs had him tucking her into his side and cuddling the little form. “En, you have to have more control.”
Al had Elsha on her feet and was helping her dust off, apologizing profusely. “It’s alright, everything is fine. Tiffany, why did you hit me?”
Faint sniffles answered her. “Do you want the men to leave?” Red shook quickly and small hands clung to Ed’s shirt. “Well, then?” Long hair shook again and she nuzzled into mismatched arms.
Al moved over to sit on the other side and laid a light hand on a shaking shoulder, rubbing gently when he wasn’t pushed away. “Brother, I think we should just tell her everything.” The two looked at each other, communicating with small hand movements and half spoken words. The brunette tapped her foot a bit.
Ed took a deep breath. “Ok. So. I said it was complicated, right?” Dark hair nodded and the woman sat. “Ok. Tiffany’s real name is Envy. The father of my baby is Envy. She, isn’t human, entirely anyways.” He took a second to kiss red hair and rested his head against it. “She can change forms and was involved in the same accident as I was. I guess she got pregnant because of it and now she can’t change.” Al nodded and kept rubbing little circles, trying to help the young woman calm down.
Dark eyes stared at the three, silently asking if they were joking. Both blond heads shook. The wall was suddenly very interesting while she thought about it. “Alright. So, Tiffany, is a guy, named Envy.” Both heads nodded again. “And she, or is it he?” They just shrugged. “Ok, she is stuck and can’t shift back to a male form.” More nods. “And you think being pregnant will help?”
“No, but if it’s already started, we want to have it, and hopefully her body will go back to normal.”
Soft hands folded in front of the doctor, elbows resting on her knees. “But there’s no guarantee.”
Envy’s head shot up, cracking Ed under the chin. “What? But, but you said! You said I could be myself after!” Ed rubbed his chin, mouth tight.
Al shuffled closer to protect him. “En, I never said that. Al and I think, and I emphasize think here, that you will go back to usual after the birth. But there are no guarantees, no precedents.” Her eyes were huge and shocked, appalled at the thought of being stuck like this forever. “I didn’t say anything because I didn't want to upset you, ok? Just calm down, don’t panic.”
Breath stuck in her throat and she stared at him, not seeing anything. “I’ll be stuck, be like this forever.” Green flared suddenly and her hands were pressing on Ed’s throat. “This is your fault! All your fault! How could you do this to me!” Al was on her, dragging her hands back quickly before any damage was done and gritted his teeth to hold the delicate looking arms back, small hands curved into claws.
Ed coughed a bit, rubbing his throat. “Just calm down, ok? It’s done, so you can’t change it. All we can do is wait and hope it isn’t permanent.” A wordless shriek had him cringing back and Al was pulled forward a bit before he regained control.
Elsha chose to interfere there. “Ok, just relax. The most important thing is to have these babies healthily and safely.” The redhead continued fighting until her body gave out on her and she collapsed onto the table, kicking feebly at the blonds when they tried to touch her. “I’m going to give you a series of books and pamphlets on pregnancies and what to expect. Envy, I still think a natural birth would be best for you, and I’m not going to give you anything for the morning sickness. Given your circumstances, I feel it’s too dangerous for the baby. Edward, there are some sections about caesarian births, so read those a bit and we’ll discuss it later. I highly suggest you two figure out what you are doing and as quickly as possible.” Ed and Envy looked at each other and blushed. “I think that’s enough for today, don’t you?” The older pair nodded. “Good. Go home, get some sleep, talk a bit, ok? I’ll see you in a couple weeks.” She stood and walked out, closing the door softly behind her.
“Ah, Al, can we have a minute? Maybe you could call a car; I think we could all use a break.” Short hair bobbed and the younger blond closed the door behind him. Ed sat, shoulders hunched and head down while Envy remained sprawled on the table. “Look, Envy, I.” He wasn’t entirely certain what he wanted to say. He wasn’t sorry, he wanted these babies, but he wished his partner weren’t so upset or having such a hard time. “I wish I could carry it for you.”
Green cracked open at him and he pushed forward. “I, I wish you weren’t sick so often and that you wanted this. I wish you weren’t stuck and I hope you can go back to normal after. Maybe I should have told you earlier, about not being sure you can go back, but, I just wanted, I mean.” His voice trailed off, slightly confused by what he wanted.
“I hate you.” Light bangs nodded. “I really do. I don’t want this.” Another nod and the small form pushed up to sit and lean against him. “But, it’ll be the same if I have it or not, right?”
Ed swallowed and licked his lips. “I think so.” He looked up to meet intense eyes. “I don’t know, Envy. I’m doing my best.”
“Huh. And we all know where that got you.” A hint of a snicker made him smile down at her. “Alright, I’ll still do it. But, you owe me two now.” A little hand prodded his stomach gently. “Right there.”
The metal hand covered hers and his flesh fingers moved over her stomach. “Right there.”
**************************
He couldn’t do this alone. As much as it galled him to admit it, there were simply too many things to be done; doctor’s appointments, fixing a nursery of some sort, shopping, and cravings from hell, not to mention his morning sickness had intensified in the past two months, with work on top of it all. And that was just him.
Envy was her usual charming self; sick constantly, acid sarcasm between bouts, mood swings he couldn’t even begin to wrap his head around, and she told him she hated him a dozen times a day, when she wasn’t crawling on him for sex. He tried not to let it get to him, she was just like that, but his hormones were all over the place, he was exhausted, and he cried by himself as often as not. At least she now slept like a rock almost eighteen hours a day, which was a boon as she was useless otherwise.
They’d chosen the little house Roy picked for them but they hadn’t even been able to move properly, just the basics; between Envy spazzing over everything and Ed being sick every hour or so, it had just not been practical. Al tried to help but he was only sixteen and still had his own missions to run. Winry was still not talking to him and he hadn’t told anyone else.
Al had been shocked at first but thrilled; a new baby was a big deal, even if it was his brother having it. And his male, temporarily female, lover too. At least he’d understood that these things can happen. Winry was less amused. She conked him over the head twice before Al got in the way and even he got whacked a few times. Then, she proceeded to tell him all about what an inconsiderate idiot he was before stomping off and heading home. After that, he hadn’t really felt secure telling anyone.
Most mornings were spent fighting with Envy, throwing up, and trying to sleep off the nausea before he dragged himself into the office and the lab. At least no one bothered him if he felt like sleeping, which he did, frequently. Though Gabby was getting annoyed with him avoiding doing any actual experiments. ‘Guess I’ll have to tell someone. Can barely hide my stomach as it is.’ There was a definite bump now, Elsha said he was putting on weight a little more quickly than usual but not a big deal. He was just grateful it was just moving into spring and he could still wear bulky clothes without looking too suspicious.
“Good afternoon, First Lieutenant.” Hawkeye looked up from her work and smiled at the unusually polite young man standing before her.
“Good afternoon to you as well, Edward. How are you feeling?” He’d been sick regularly during the past little while and still looked a bit pale.
A faint blush rose in his cheeks and he cleared his throat. “Ah, well, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. Is the General free?” He still didn’t look at her and shuffled his feet.
A small frown creased her forehead before it disappeared behind her professional mask. “Yes, he is. Is something wrong, Edward?”
The younger blond just turned and waved her after him into the office. A brisk knock and he walked in to stand in front of the wide desk. Mustang looked up hopefully, waiting for a distraction. ‘Oh, he’s gonna love this.’ Riza moved around to stand behind her superior and they both gave Ed their attention. He looked so serious, Roy didn't even start with short jokes.
Ed swallowed, took a deep breath, and blew it out softly. “Ok. So, you know I haven’t been feeling good for the last few months.” He was shucking off layers as he talked, dropping them on the couch beside him. “Four months ago, there was that little accident in the labs? The rebound that we tried to contain from that idiot’s chimeras?” He fidgeted with the last sweatshirt then yanked it over his head, leaving him in his tight black tank top. “SomethinghappenedandI’mpregnant.” Silence. He chewed his lip and waited. More silence. Blond bangs shifted and he peeked up to see them staring blankly at him. “Um, hello? Did you, ah, hear me?” Both heads nodded. “Well?”
Roy’s mouth opened, then closed. His eyes remained fastened on the blond’s stomach. “Are you sure?”
“Of course I am! You think I would come in and tell you something like that if I weren’t?” A heavy boot stomped and his arms crossed in front of his chest. “Idiot. I should have known better.” He started putting his clothes back on, tears threatening. He’d hoped at least these two would be able to help him.
“Wait, wait. Edward, come sit.” Riza edged him around and settled him on the couch. One hand rubbed his shoulders while she held his flesh hand. “Now, just relax, we believe you. How far along are you?”
Sniff. “About four months, same as Tiffany. The doctor said it probably happened right after the accident, within a few days.” He blushed brightly but shuffled over to curl against the blond woman. He’d been alone with it and it felt so nice to just curl around someone stronger. “I just, can’t hide it anymore, I’m fat, and Al’s away, and E, Tiffany’s being more horrible than usual, and I feel so shitty, and I’m hungry all the time, and, and” Riza rocked him gently and whispered against his hair.
His superior leaned back in his chair and watched him cry. “Edward, who is the other parent.” A blank monotone and dark eyes stared at him, carefully bland.
Deep breaths and the cries faded. “Oh fuck, you’re not going to believe this. I guess you never saw him.” He pulled away from the Lieutenant and lifted his chin. “It’s Envy.”
“Who?” Cat-like eyes narrowed further. “You don’t mean… That Envy? Psychotic, human hating, undead Envy?”
Ed frowned at him. “He’s not like that. So what if he isn’t human, he still thinks and feels. Don’t say things like that.” The quiet determination set Roy back a bit and he watched the blond boy, no man now. The bright temper had finally calmed enough for him to sit there and stare his commander down, and that strength deserved to be called a man.
A thought occurred to him. “Wait, he was the one who could change form, wasn’t he?” Red flushed into Ed’s cheeks as he nodded. “Then, Tiffany is…” Pale cheeks burst into color. His first meeting with the petite redhead was legendary around the base and he still had to silence the odd snicker when she showed up to meet Ed.

~~Roy’s first meeting with Tiffany~~
“Holy shit, look at this!” Jean’s nose was pressed to the window and he was practically drooling. Vato ignored him but Breda and Fuery wandered over to look.
“Wow, who’s that?” The door opened behind them while they discussed their new view.
Ed walked up behind them, a stack of papers in his hands. “What are you looking at?” He shouldered his way in and peered out the window. “Oh, she’s early.” The window was opened and he leaned out. “Hey! I’ll be a few more minutes.” A faint wave and the small form went back to chatting with the gatekeeper.
A long arm slung over wide shoulders and he was dragged back to be surrounded by his office mates. “And how do you know her?”
“She’d really pretty, is she your girlfriend?” Cain stared at him in admiration.
“What? No! She’s, just someone I know, that’s all.” He yanked himself free and sat down to finish his paperwork. “You guys should get back to work.” His cheeks heated and he kept his head down, working steadily to finish as quickly as possible.
Three larger forms leaned over his desk, blocking the light. He just squinted and ignored them as best he could, writing quickly. After a few minutes of stubborn silence from him, they wandered back to the window. “Hey, ah, Boss? You might want to hurry it up a bit there.”
That got his attention and he looked up, the last form under his pen. “Why? What’s happening?”
“Well, the General is down there. And I think he spotted her.” Three sets of eyes watched his mouth work for a second in horror. “Yeah, he’s definitely spotted her.”
“Oh fuck!” Ed bolted, leaving the papers strewn around the desk and slamming the door behind him.
“Huh. Just someone he knows.” Even Falman had to get up and go over to watch the fireworks.
**************
Roy wandered along, whistling to himself. So far, the day was going well; he’d had inspections all day, so no paperwork AND he escaped from that boring meeting. Things were looking up and. He stopped whistling and licked his lips. Well, the day just got much, much better.
A gorgeous young lady was standing by the gate, chatting with the officer on duty. Red hair hung in thick waves to the middle of her back, well rounded hips, flat stomach, and well, generous didn't even start to cover those. Long lashes fringed green eyes, with just enough blue to be absolutely fascinating, and brushed high cheekbones. The little nose was slightly upturned, giving her an adorable, mischievous quality. Pale skin was dusted with a hint of a blush and full lips smiled, showing even white teeth. A bit on the short side, but he wouldn’t let something like that deter him, not from a wet dream come to life.
“Well, hello. What can we here at Central Headquarters do for such a beautiful young lady?” He grinned and gestured elegantly to encompass the compound, making certain to show the array on his gloves.
She giggled at him and smiled back. “Are you an alchemist?” Her hands tucked behind her back, stretching her blue dress over her chest and he tried not to stare too obviously.
The Corporal was waving at him from behind the delicious little thing and he glared briefly before ignoring him. “Why, yes, I am. I forgot to introduce myself; General Roy Mustang, Flame Alchemist. May I ask what your name is?” Not that he cared, but anything this pretty had to be his.
Red rose charmingly in high cheeks and he almost drooled. “I’m Tiffany.” She giggled again and the Corporal got more bold, waving frantically for him to come over.
“If you’ll excuse me for a second, Miss Tiffany. I have to speak with this rude young man.” Dark eyes glared as he stalked over.
“Sir, please! Forgive me for speaking out of turn, but this young lady” He noticed her watching them, a small smile on her face, and lowered his voice further. “Is Fullmetal’s girlfriend. Sir, I really think you should leave her be, it might not be” A slim hand was held up and he went silent.
“Thank you for your concern, but I can handle Fullmetal. Now, if you have nothing further…” An arched brow and the man backed down, tilting his head in defeat. Fine, if he wouldn’t listen, no one could say he didn't try.
A charming grin was put back in place and the brunette turned back to his soon to be conquest. “Would you care for a cup of tea? There is a charming café just down the street and I happen to be free right now.” She just kept smiling and he waited, a bit impatient but it would be worth it.
A delicate shoulder moved and he watched it, and its effect on those wonderful, wonderful breasts, pupils dilating a bit. “No, thank you. I’m afraid I’m already otherwise engaged.”
“Oh? With Fullmetal? I assure you, miss, I am much better company.” The sound of pounding feet came to him and a shriek echoed over the quad. “Really, so loud and unmannered.”
Ed raced across the hard packed dirt. Shit, shit, this could only get worse. “You bastard, get away from her!”
Dark eyes rolled at his yelling and he placed a hand on a softly rounded shoulder and leaned in close, breathing in her scent. “Are you certain? I have a reservation at Haft’s, I’d be more than happy to take a pretty young lady like yourself for supper and perhaps a play?” No need to mention that the reservation was a standing one and he took someone different almost daily. His hand trailed down her back, one finger pressing lightly at her spine and teased over the top of a perfectly cupable ass. More bold than his usual approach but he was running out of time rather quickly with the short blond’s approach.
That same sweet smile looked him right in the eye when a solid hand slammed into his cheek, whipping his head around and spinning him to the ground. He sat and stared in shock as Ed skidded to a halt and started yelling at the redhead.
His arms jerked through the air as he gestured, his face red. “I told you, you can only come here if you don’t cause trouble.” His finger jabbed at the perfect chest.
“I didn’t.” A gentle pout curved the full lips.
Blond puffed a bit. “And what do you call that??” A gloved finger pointed at Roy, who was still frozen on the ground, a hand to his cheek.
Big eyes stared up innocently. “Oops?” White teeth nibbled at her lips and she looked away. “He started it. He touched me!”
Both hands flexed, looking like they were dying to wrap around someone’s neck and the brunette watched in dazed fascination while the blond’s flesh arm bunched with effort to contain himself. Finally, a hand was pressed to his face and he took a few deep breaths, calming himself. “We will talk about this at home.” The General suddenly realized they had an audience, a rather large one really.
“Yo, Bastard, you ok?” A white glove appeared in front of him and he took it by habit to be yanked to his feet. He brushed himself off and tried to maintain a bit of dignity. Faint snickers could already be heard around them and he glared around, sending the men scattering.
“What is the meaning of this, Fullmetal?” His foot tapped and his arms folded over his chest.
A blond brow cocked at him and he recognized his own smirk. “Well, looks like the girl isn’t interested in you or your supper.” She smiled from behind him, a hand wrapped around Ed’s. “Hey, James, you didn’t tell him?”
The Corporal stood straight and stared ahead. “Sir, I tried, Sir.” Dark eyes glared at him. “I did try to tell you SHE is the one to be careful of, Sir.”
“Well, then Mustang, no one to blame but yourself.” The blond shrugged and turned to leave. “I’m done, so I’ll see you later.” He and his date walked off, fingers tangled, chatting quietly.
Roy stood staring after them; how the hell had this happened? He was good-looking, popular, cultured, everything Ed wasn’t, so how the hell did HE end up with the prettiest damn thing he’d ever seen? Snickers followed him around all day and Hawkeye removed his gloves from him after the second man was taken to the infirmary. The story turned into a sort of urban legend, told to all new men after their first girl wound up on the General's arm.
****************
“You know, that was really bad of you.” Ed looked down at his companion, who grinned up at him. “Envy, you can’t cause trouble at work.” He untangled their hands and stuffed his flesh one in his pocket, using the other one to talk with.
“But it was so fun! Admit it, you loved seeing him fall on his ass. And the look of shock on his face was worth the supper you’re buying me.” Green eyes shifted around a little before settling back into their original color.
“I’m buying you supper? Since when?” The metal arm was slung over delicate shoulders and amber laughed down.
“Since I gave up a damn fine meal to go home with you.” A slim hand grasped the metal one over her shoulder and she tugged. “Come on, the sooner we eat, the sooner we can go back.” Wide shoulders shrugged and the blond followed; he could be generous, not everyday he got to see Mustang land on his ass, after all.
~~Back to present~~

The brunette finally shook the shock off and came over to sit beside them. He patted Ed’s shoulder awkwardly and stared across the room in thought. “Obviously you can’t have two pregnant people in the same household without some kind of live-in help. You’ll need a note with a believable reason for you to stay out of the field for a year. Do you still want to do research at home?” A firm nod and he hummed briefly, thinking.
“I have a note, Elsha wrote me one last time. Oh, and I can’t use alchemy anymore, at least until after the baby is born.” Dark hair tipped at him and he continued. “As to someone to live with us, they’ll have to be pretty patient. Envy’s moods swing faster than mine.” The brunette cringed a bit and Riza’s eyes rolled. “Hey, at least I just yell or cry. She attacks people at random, so whoever comes will have to be pretty tough too.”
“Exactly how dangerous is it to send someone over there, Edward?” A pale brow rose and the blond officer leaned back to look down at him in concern.
A small smile. “Shouldn’t be too bad, as soon as she gets used to the idea. She’s not as fast now and gets tired in a few seconds, so it’s not a big deal.” Roy hummed and thought.
“Alright, Fuery has experience with children, so he might be a good choice. Havoc will be good as backup for him; they work together well. Lieutenant?” She stood with a final pat and left to find the two requested men. “Those two won't be permanent, but it’ll do until we can think of something else. How has moving been going? Is there much left?”
The blond blushed and looked away. “Yeah, almost everything. Al’s been moving stuff whenever he’s here, but I can’t lift stuff and Envy, yeah. It’s been a challenge to get the basics there.” He scrubbed at his cheek.
His superior sighed and got a paper, starting a list of things to get done. Cain and Jean appeared in the door and were waved in. “I have a request for you two. As I’m sure you’ve heard, Edward’s girlfriend is pregnant.”
The small brunette nodded and smiled at Ed. “Congratulations, Edward.”
“Yeah, congrats there Boss.” The older blond leaned against the wall, arms folded.
“Yes, well, apparently he has managed to get himself pregnant as well.” Ed growled at him.
“Don’t say it like that; you make it sound like I planned it or did it all alone.” He snorted at the amused smirk. “Bastard.”
While they taunted each other, the two older officers stared at the smallest’s stomach. He noticed them and obligingly lifted his shirt. Cain blushed furiously and looked away while Jean moved forward to poke the little bump. “Hey, no touching.”
“Huh. So who were you fooling around with?” A thought occurred and shock showed on his face. “You! You cheated on Tiffany? How could you? There are guys who would kill for a piece like that.”
A snarky smirk and Ed slapped his hand when it prodded him again. “Like you? I’m pretty sure she’d be a bit much for you to handle.” His shirt was tugged down and he grabbed his sweater. “And I didn’t cheat. It’s complicated.”
Jean went to question him some more but Cain’s hand on his arm stayed the words. “General, sir, we’d be happy to help however we can.”
“Excellent.” Roy leaned on the edge of his desk. “I want you to go live with Edward until the babies are born. They need help moving, getting to and from doctor’s appointments, shopping, anything and everything.” Quick nods and salutes were snapped off.
I know it ends a bit awkwardly but I'm moving quickly today, so I hope to have a second chapter and that will smooth things out. Thanks for reading and, as always, review! (please)

(please)
