KrazyKat001: Lol. I love how you’re guessing at what Vegeta could be (I actually haven’t thought of those before) and I can’t say that they’re right or wrong…mainly because I don’t want to give him away. :p and yes, you’ll have to find out later. :) I’m so happy that you’re loving this story and I do hope you continue to enjoy it. ^^
Kakarot woke up abruptly as he was dragged out of bed and hit the floor. He groaned at being awoken so harshly, he felt like he could’ve slept for a few more hours. He didn’t realize how tired he was as he still had trouble waking up and couldn’t focus his eyes. His muscles ached from walking all day the day before and his strength didn’t seem to want to return to him today. “Come on, Kakarot. It’s morning. We have a long trek through the mountains today, so the sun’s not up yet.” Vegeta explained as Kakarot bolted up from his place on the floor.
“What?! The sun’s not even up yet?!” He looked out the window to confirm His words and noticed it was still dark out. He groaned loudly and laid back on the floor to curl up in a fetal position and tried to get some more sleep.
Vegeta noticed what the other was trying to do and again tried to get the other up. “Kakarot! Don’t you dare go back to sleep! Wake up this instant!” All He got for His efforts was another groan as Kakarot pulled the sheet off the bed and over him. Vegeta was about to go into an insane fit of rage until another idea struck Him. He let go of His anger and let a smirk show on His features, but Kakarot didn’t notice as he pulled the sheet over his head. Vegeta kneeled on the floor next to him and placed a hand on the younger’s thigh and slowly moved it up his torso. “Fine. If you won’t wake up when I tell you to, then I have another way of making you do so.”
Kakarot stiffened when he felt a warm hand on him through the thin sheet and immediately sat up and backed into the bed behind him. He stared at Vegeta in a panic, appearing alert and awake. The smirk remained on Vegeta’s face. “Are you awake now?” Kakarot panted as he nodded quickly. Vegeta stood. “Good. Now, get dressed. We need to get the horses on our way out yet. So stop wasting time and get a move on.”
Kakarot yelped at the harsh command and immediately started moving. “O-Okay!”
Vegeta smiled at the others’ display and continued getting ready himself.

Kakarot sighed as he watched Vegeta and the vendor argue. It’s been about thirty minutes now and he was wondering if getting the horses was even worth it at this point. Kakarot eyed the mountains behind him and kept getting the same feeling…there was no way he was trekking those deadly formations on foot. “Your price is 100 silver pieces! I have the money, so what’s the problem?!” Vegeta argued as He tried giving the money to the vendor.
The vendor argued in return. “You want two horses, which requires more money and look at that big sack in your hand! My price has just risen up!”
Vegeta growled. “You money hungry fool! Your price is 50 silver pieces per horse! Take the hundred or no deal!”
“Five hundred or You walk on foot!” The vendor shouted in His face.
Kakarot sighed in irritation and decided to end the argument. “Listen, how about we take one horse for a hundred? That’s more than the cost you’re asking for one horse and we get transportation. Everybody wins.” The vendor glared at the boy as he thought about his proposal. “Please. We need the money for food and a place to sleep. We have somewhere to be that’s very far away and I imagine you have other things to do as well. Let’s just end this senseless argument already and get on with our day.” Kakarot pleaded with the man and waited for a decision.
The vendor seemed to come to terms with the deal and decided to receive the hundred silver pieces and gave them a horse. Vegeta sneered at the man as He walked away. On their way out of town, Vegeta couldn’t help but smile at Kakarot, who was walking beside Him for the first time on their journey. Kakarot noticed the look. “What?”
Vegeta raised a brow. “Who knew you could be so persuasive?”
Kakarot blushed and looked away. “It was nothing. I’m used to people talking that way with me, so I know how to deal with them, I guess.”
Vegeta smiled slightly and suddenly realized that they’ll be riding on the same horse. “Although, you only asked for one horse, you can ride on it for the day if you wish.”
Kakarot looked back at Him. “Oh, no it’s alright. After all, I don’t even know how to ride a horse.” However, deep down he really wanted to ride it. He knew he wouldn’t last long if he walked. Already his sore muscles were wanting to take a break and they just started.
Vegeta stopped as a sweat drop appeared on His head. “You know, that might’ve been a good thing to say before I argued for hours with that fool.”
Kakarot stopped and turned to Him with his arms crossed. “It wasn’t hours! And You never asked me if I knew how to ride one! If You know everything about me, then You should’ve known that!”
Vegeta recovered as an understanding look overtook His features. “I suppose you’re right. In that case, we’ll be riding together.” With that, Vegeta put a foot in a stirrup and pulled Himself up on the animal; reins in hand. “Although, it probably would’ve been better to get a mule or another such animal that’s used to the paths in the mountains, but I figured this would be a more comfortable ride.” He looked down to Kakarot and smirked. “Do you at least know how to get on a horse?” Kakarot studied the horse and the man on it, then shook his head with an unsure look. Vegeta sighed and got off the horse, then pulled Kakarot next to it. “Alright. First, put your hand on the horn of the saddle.” He moved Kakarot’s hand and placed it where He explained.
Kakarot gulped at the closeness of the other and the uncertainty in how this lesson will end. “O-Okay. Now what?”
Vegeta took a hold of Kakarot’s hips and guided him closer to the horse, then whispered to him. “It won’t hurt you. You must get closer in order to get on it.” He smirked when Kakarot blushed brightly.
“Okay.” Kakarot squeaked in his nervousness.
Vegeta reveled in the other’s nervousness before letting go of him and continuing His lesson. “Next, put your right foot in the stirrup and pull yourself up, then swing your leg on over.”
Kakarot gulped again before concentrating on the task at hand. As he thought about what the other said, he was stumped on what to do. “Uh, put my foot in what?”
Vegeta sighed with impatience, but regained His composure and calmly explained. “The loop right there on the side of the saddle.” He pointed at the object and Kakarot stared at it.
“Ohhhhh.” Kakarot licked his lips in determination before putting his foot in the loop, but almost lost his balance as the horse took a step forward.
Vegeta held him steady. “It’s alright. It’s just preparing for you to get on it. Here, I’ll hold onto it so you can get on.”
Kakarot nodded again and the blush returned as Vegeta pressed closely behind him to hold onto the saddle to keep the horse steady. He shook his head again and concentrated. “So, I just…pull myself up?”
“Yes.” Vegeta answered patiently and waited for the other.
“Okay.” Kakarot answered in uncertainty and tried just that, but didn’t make it and landed back on his one foot; almost losing his balance again.
Vegeta chuckled. “Try again.”
Kakarot was surprised at how much effort it took to get on the tall animal. “It’s…kinda hard.” However, he tried again, but wasn’t expecting a hand on his backside that gave him a boost. He swung his leg over and immediately gripped on the horn in a panic that he would fall off. He panted at the effort and the hand that was on him.
Vegeta smirked. “There, you made it. Now, hand me your things.” He held out His hands and waited for the other to untie his pack.
Kakarot stiffened a moment, wondering if he should move while on the horse, then slowly untied his pack and quickly handed it to Him. Vegeta’s smirk widened, then went to tie the pack on the side of the saddle. He went to the other side and did the same with His. Vegeta then took a hold of the reins and the horn, while Kakarot blushed more at the hand that was in close proximity of his lower regions, then pulled Himself up and sat behind the other. Kakarot was about to have a full blown panic attack when Vegeta scooted closer to his backside and felt the warm chest against him and the others’ hands in front of him. “Y-You know, I think I’m having second thoughts. Maybe we should get another horse or perhaps…go on foot?” Kakarot couldn’t look at Him.
Vegeta chuckled, knowing the boys’ problem with how close they’ll be riding together for the day. “Oh, don’t worry so much. You’ll get used to it as the day goes on. Besides, I like this better. This way, I won’t worry so much about you wondering off or your horse getting out of control or any other disaster that could happen on our way. Also, you can sleep on the way there. You don’t appear to have much rest, so today shall be easier for you. Although, we might have to stop more often, since you’re not used to riding on a horse.”
Kakarot looked to Him then. “What does that mean?”
Vegeta smirked again. “You’ll see.” He kicked the horse’s side with His heel and snapped the reins to get the horse moving as they rode off into the sunrise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kakarot groaned for the hundredth time since they started their journey that day. Vegeta didn’t bother asking why, He knew why, He was just waiting for the other to say it. The boy was going to have to get used to asking Him for help and telling Him what was wrong if they are to move on in their…’relationship.’ However, Vegeta rolled His eyes when Kakarot eyed Him with a suspecting glare and He finally gave in. “Is something bothering you Kakarot?”
However, Kakarot decided not to give in and changed his answer. “No, nothing’s wrong.” He sighed in defeat. It was just…too awkward. Even though his legs were asleep and he could no longer feel his backside, for some reason, it was still hard to tell the other what was wrong. What was more annoying, was that he knew Vegeta knew what was wrong and yet He didn’t bother doing something about it. Kakarot looked ahead at how much farther they had to go until they reached the mountains. It wouldn’t be too long now, he’ll just wait until they reached them, then he’ll tell Him. He looked up at the sky to see how much time had passed and noticed it wasn’t even noon yet. The rocky terrain was getting rockier the closer they got and the ride wasn’t getting any more comfortable. He held in a loud groan when the horse trotted over something in its path; causing his legs to strain more against the horse to keep himself on and also tried to keep from leaning back into the other behind him. Finally, Kakarot had enough. He swore his legs were going to fall off if he didn’t say something now. “Okay, we need to stop! I can’t feel half of my body!” He complained as Vegeta grinned and pulled back on the reins; causing the horse to stop.
“I was wondering how much longer you could last like that, but it’s about damn time you said something.” Vegeta swiftly got off the horse, still holding on to the reins then waited for the other to do so. Kakarot looked around, seeing if there was any easy way to get off the animal. When he didn’t see one, he looked to Vegeta with a look that begged for help. Vegeta chuckled and stepped next to the horse and held it steady. “Take your time. I don’t want you injuring yourself.” Kakarot hesitated before nodding at the other then tried to move his legs.
After a moment, he began to panic as his legs continued stay unmoving. “I can’t move!” He struggled a bit more. “Help! What do I do?!”
Vegeta sighed. “Alright, calm down.” He waited until the boy did what He said. “Now, try bending your knees.” Kakarot looked at Him with an unsure look before doing what he said, then practically screamed when his stiff knees brought more aches and pains into his legs. Vegeta tensed at the sounds the other was making, but managed to stand His ground and waited for the boy to help himself. After a few minutes, Kakarot managed to get both legs on one side of the horse, then paused and looked around; unsure how to get down. Vegeta held out His arms. “Jump down. I’ll catch you.” Kakarot seemed skeptical, but wanted to get off the tall animal. So, he clenched his eyes shut and hopped off the horse and into a strong chest.
After a moment, Kakarot opened his eyes and looked at the man holding him. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as he felt the others’ arms around him. They were comforting and trusting, but at the same time, this man was foreign and unpredictable. He could be trusting only to turn on him and be something completely different, but why would this man go through so much trouble just to cause him harm? Even after all these years? And why him? These questions were bound to drive him mad if they weren’t answered soon, it’s almost a good thing that they’re on a long journey. Kakarot stared intently into the man’s eyes as if trying to solve a puzzle that no one’s ever put together before. Vegeta gazed worriedly at the younger, not sure if he liked the look he was giving Him. “What’s wrong? Are you in that much pain?” Vegeta asked as He held the other at arm’s length.
Kakarot’s gaze was broken from the man’s words and shook his head. “Oh, no. I’m fine now.”
Vegeta relaxed His gaze and let the boy go, only to catch him again as he weakly fell to his knees. “Are you sure?”
Kakarot laughed nervously. “I…guess not. Can we rest here for a while?”
Vegeta nodded and hesitantly let go of him before kneeling in front of him. Both said nothing as they rested and Kakarot couldn’t help but stare at the other again. After a while, Vegeta sighed inwardly and turned to the other. “Is there something on your mind?”
Kakarot’s stare became more stern. “You know the answer to that. I have many questions that You won’t answer. How do I know we’re heading to the place You mentioned and if it is true, why the war? What does it have to do with You? Why am I tagging along? You have plans…things that You’re not telling me that I need to know. If You won’t tell me, then I won’t continue to travel with You.”
Vegeta made Himself more comfortable by crossing His legs and resting His arms on them. “I suppose I can answer a few more of your questions, but only certain ones. You won’t believe my answers to some of them if I answer all of them now.”
Kakarot scrunched his nose in skeptism. “Fine. Here’s my first question, how are You involved with the war? With all the wars in fact. It seems You’ve made a reputation by taking part in them.”
Vegeta’s calm gaze became more stern as well. “I told you. It’s what I do. It’s my job.”
“No! I’m not taking that as an answer! You’re going to have to be more specific.” Kakarot watched the man’s every move, as if searching for the truth on His person instead of His words.
Vegeta looked off into the distance and took His time responding. “It’s…what I was made to do. I am…to be a part of wars because I know no other purpose for myself in this world.”
Kakarot’s features turned innocent and confused. “No other purpose? That’s…how can You say that?” He was at a loss as to what to say to something so…ludicrous. Vegeta turned to His fated one again. “Everyone may have a purpose in this world, but who said that war was Yours? Everyone’s future is unwritten. No one decides Your future for You, You make up Your own.”
Vegeta stared at the other in surprise for a moment before bursting out into laughter. Kakarot’s confusion grew at the reaction and waited for the other to calm so He may explain. “Silly child. You take everything so seriously. That may be true for you humans but not to a-“ He stopped Himself when He realized what He almost said. The boy can’t find out yet. Some time must pass, then he’ll understand.
Kakarot was getting impatient. “To a what?”
Vegeta stared at the ground. “Nothing. Ask your next question.”
By looking at the man’s features, Kakarot decided to let that one go for now and do what the other said. “Why must I go with You?”
“I answered that as well. Because you are my fated one. I can’t let you out of my sight until you’ve made your decision.” Vegeta answered seriously as His eyes continued to stare coldly at the rocky terrain.
“And what is this choice that You’ve mentioned?” The younger prodded.
It took a moment before Vegeta answered, as if deciding whether or not to answer. “Whether or not you wish to be with me.” He answered in a quiet tone, as if He was afraid what the others’ reaction might be.
“To…be with You?” The boy repeated in surprise. “And…if I don’t want to be with You?”
Vegeta flinched as if He was just hit with an insult, then turned towards the boy with a guarded expression. “Then your life will continue on as if I was never here.”
Kakarot’s expression turned to one with understanding. “You’ve…mentioned being with other’s before, were they…chosen…like me?” Vegeta nodded. “Then…what happened to them? None of them wanted to be with You?” His features then turned into pity as he waited for His response.
Vegeta closed His eyes for a moment before staring ahead. “They were all different, but at the same time, the same. There were some who were too afraid to be with me, others didn’t want to leave their loved ones behind, and some…left this world unexpectedly.”
Surprise once again made its way onto the younger’s features. “Are You saying…they died?” Vegeta merely nodded as Kakarot soaked it all in. This man has taken so much rejection and seemed to have been broken so many times, and yet here He was, repeating the process. “Why do You keep looking? After all the heartache, why not…give up?”
Vegeta chuckled darkly and turned to the other. “In case you haven’t figured it out yet, it is against my nature to give up. Also, it is something that has been decided for me. If I am to continue to exist, I must find someone who is willing to be with me for eternity.”
“Eternity?!” Kakarot gasped.
Vegeta stiffened; just now realizing what He let slip out. “I’ve already said too much.” He stood and made His way over to the horse that was currently eating at the blades of grass beneath it.
Kakarot stood none too gracefully and followed Him. “Wait! What do You mean eternity?! Just what are You?!”
Vegeta ignored the other’s questions and got on the animal. “Let’s go. We’re wasting time.”
Kakarot stomped his foot where he stood, determined to get the answers he searched for. “I’m not going anywhere until You tell me what You are! You said You would answer my questions!”
Vegeta growled, getting annoyed by the younger’s constant demanding. “I said I’d answer them to an extent! If I told you, you wouldn’t believe me! Now, get on the horse!” He demanded none too politely as Kakarot flinched at the command and did what he was told.
