A/N: Lol. I’m so happy how thrilled you all are about this story. It almost makes me feel bad because I haven’t been updating as much, but not to worry. I won’t give up on this story. :) There also seems to be some confusion in what is happening in the story. Let me ease your worries. Tsukai’s can’t get each other prego because they’re sperm isn’t strong enough or is sterile, if you will. So only the dom’s or non-sterile Saiyans can reproduce. I have also noticed that it sounds like Vegeta has much free time to himself, but I assure you that he’s always being accompanied by guards. However, I can’t remember how I worded things, but that’s what I’m trying to get across. As for the bond…I haven’t put much thought into it. So for now, it’s like a ring to show that one is taken. Also, with two tsukai’s together, the bond shouldn’t even work, but like I said, I haven’t thought that far. :/ You all have so many good questions and ideas that I haven’t thought of, I just might use some of them. As for the other thoughts that you guys have on it, you’ve either guessed what I’ve already planned or what I don’t have planned. Either way, we’ll find out together. :)
~Dream~
Brolly yawned and stretched when he gradually woke from sleep. He stared at the dark colored ceiling for a while until he mustered the strength to get out of bed. Once he sat up, he came face to face with his betrothed. He flinched back in surprise before rubbing his face to get the expression off as well as shaking off the slight feeling of shock and exhaustion. “Do you need something, my prince?” He asked tiredly.
Vegeta was leaning against the wall across from him with a scowl on his face, however, there was mischief in his eyes. “Rumor has it you know where the tsukai is. Tell me, where is he?”
Brolly paused in his actions briefly before sighing. “If you know that I am aware of where the tsukai is, then you know that I can’t tell you.” He stood then and made his way to the bathroom connected to his room, but didn’t bother closing the door.
Vegeta frowned and followed the burly Saiyan. “If you know me as well as you think you do, then you know that I’ll keep bothering you until you tell me. Either that or…” He smirked as he leaned against the door frame.
After Brolly washed his face and brushed his teeth, he turned to the prince with mild curiosity. “Or?”
Vegeta pushed himself away from the doorway. “Or…I’ll eventually run into him.”
Brolly frowned, knowing that that might be possible. “What makes you think he’ll talk to you?”
The prince shrugged. “Nothing. I know he’ll run as soon as he sees me.”
Brolly raised a brow and crossed his big arms. “What do you get out of this, Vegeta? You know you’ll be punished just for seeing the tsukai and you know he wants nothing to do with you. So?”
Vegeta straightened his posture and glided over to his betrothed while swaying his hips seductively. He stopped once he came into contact with the other and trailed his hands over a broad chest. “Call it, a sick little fetish. I have a soft spot for adorable little weaklings and I can’t help but…punish them for being so.” He nuzzled his head into him.
Brolly relaxed his stance when the prince came into contact with him, but made no move to respond to it. “You do realize that makes no sense. Unless…”
Vegeta paused at Brolly’s last word before pulling away. “Unless?”
Brolly looked down at him coldly. “Unless you find your ‘fetish’ as a way of punishing yourself for thinking that you yourself…are weak.”
Vegeta pushed away and sneered at him. However, before he could retort to that statement, his expression immediately turned to surprise as he rushed towards the toilet and promptly yarked into it. Brolly watched the prince in slight shock but quickly registered what was happening. He grabbed a towel and stood by him until he was finished. When Vegeta stuck his head out of the bowl, he flushed it and stared at the towel offered to him. He glared at it before taking it and wiping off his face then stood.
“Looks like things are going well with the baby.” Brolly pointed out.
Vegeta threw the towel back at him. “Little bastard deserves to die for doing this to me.” He mumbled then left the room.
Brolly followed him. “It’s just a baby, Vegeta. Give it a chance to live before you throw his life away!” He shouted at the retreating form of his betrothed before going back to getting around for the day.

~There was…pain…and cold. He was freezing. Why else would his body be shivering? Oh wait, there was the pain too. So much pain…he was sure he’d pass out from the sheer feeling. And screaming…so much screaming. It took him a moment to register that it was him. He thrashed. He had to get away…he had to escape this dreadful feeling. His throat went raw from all the screaming and his writhing body eventually stopped from exhaustion. Out of nowhere, he heard a voice…that sinister voice, “Don’t tell me you’ve had enough, kitten. You’re punishment isn’t over yet.” He didn’t even see the nail until he felt it pierce through his hand…~
Kakarot awoke with a start and gasped for breath. His body was covered in his sweat, however, he appeared cold when he shivered. Once he realized it was a dream, more like a memory, he wiped his face down and let out a few breaths to calm his body. He suddenly jumped when he saw Brolly staring at him with his arms crossed, waiting for him to get up. “Sorry for startling you. It’s time to get up.” Brolly stated as he watched the tsukai fall back on the bed in exhaustion; completely ignoring his state of being.
“What’s the point? It’s not like I have anything to do.” Kakarot muttered at the ceiling.
Brolly strode forward and flung the sheets off of him. “Look, the sooner you find someone, the sooner you can go on about your life…and don’t expect me to do it for you. I’m no matchmaker.”
Kakarot eyed the burly Saiyan from his pillow. “Why would I expect you to do it? You can’t even get with the prince.” Brolly froze at that statement until Kakarot got out of bed. The tsukai stopped when he was about to go to the restroom and gave his temporary bodyguard an apologetic look. “Sorry.” Not waiting for a response, he entered the tiled room and closed the door.
Brolly let out a sigh and sat on the bed until the tsukai was done. He ran a hand through his hair and rested his face in them. Right. Vegeta. What was he going to do? It was obvious the prince wanted nothing to do with him, but why? What was the prince running away from? Was he that undesirable? He was the strongest Saiyan alive. He thought that alone would get the stubborn prince to mate with him. Looks like he needs to try harder to win the prince over. His thoughts were broken when Kakarot came out of the restroom and he stood from the bed. Kakarot stood still for a moment and gave the burly Saiyan a thoughtful look. “So, who’s this other guard you have in mind?” He remembered the conversation the other had with the king and was curious to know who it was that Brolly thought of.
Brolly cleared his throat. “He’s a royal guard I’ve gotten to know pretty well since I’ve been here. Unfortunately, he is away on a mission and won’t be back until next week.”
Kakarot’s expression became solemn. Either to having some stranger following him around or Brolly won’t be with him anymore, the noble wasn’t certain. “I see.”
“He is trustworthy though. He is mated and therefore you won’t have to worry about him…” He trailed off, not sure how to end the sentence without making the tsukai feel uncomfortable.
Kakarot nodded in understanding. “Doesn’t mean he won’t try anything though.”
Brolly gave him a look. “You’ve never met a mated Saiyan, have you?” Kakarot returned the look and shook his head. “Then you know it’s rare that we mate right?” The tsukai nodded. “Saiyans can only mate when the king gives them the okay. In that case, all Saiyans that are mated work here at the palace.”
Kakarot gasped in shock. “Are you serious?! Why’s that?”
Brolly leaned against the door frame that lead into the living room next to the bedroom with his arms crossed. “Basically, if you want something from the king, you’re going to have to do something for him in return. Any others that have wanted to mate didn’t get that pleasure if they didn’t work for the king. However, doesn’t mean that there aren’t others out there who are mated and didn’t get permission. Doing so is an illegal act and therefore must be arrested and/or put to death.” Kakarot silently gasped at that knowledge as Brolly continued. “Tsukai’s are rare Kakarot. Therefore, only those who are truly worthy of mating with them are the ones that get permission.”
Kakarot sat on his bed in shocked awe. “That’s terrible. So, others can’t be happy until the king is happy?” He asked in disbelief.
Brolly nodded. “Basically.”
The tsukai shook his head, still not believing what he just heard was true. When he recovered, he looked to the burly Saiyan. “So, what have you done for the king?”
Brolly stood straight and uncrossed his arms to rest at his sides. “I have the highest power reading that the king has ever seen. Therefore, I have agreed to use it for my king if he ever needs me and to give him a grandson in exchange for mating with the prince.”
Kakarot stared at the other in silence before coming to a conclusion. “You love him, don’t you?”
Brolly’s face turned sour. “I wouldn’t say that. I definitely care for the prince, but why that is, I’m not sure yet.” He shrugged then. “Could be because I had this…image in my head of how ‘we’re’ supposed to be, but…it looks like it’s just going to stay a dream. Still, how can I care about someone that wants nothing to do with me except to have a good fuck?” He stiffened then. He’s never told anyone this. Why is he spilling his guts to a tsukai? He eyed the other and looked away. “Sorry. I don’t know why I’m telling you this.” He walked into the other room. “I’ll give you your privacy, let me know when you’re ready.” He closed the door.
Kakarot watched Brolly in curiosity before the warrior left him alone. His expression turned sad when the other confessed his feelings towards the prince. Poor guy. He cares for the royal and yet the arrogant prince doesn’t notice nor even care. What was wrong with him anyway? He decided not to think about the prince anymore and quickly got dressed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“So, what do you think of the new tsukai that currently resides in the palace?”
“I think it’s like dangling a live yasei rat in front of a doku (poison) snake.”
“I agree. One lonely little tsukai living in a palace of mostly unmated elites is just the way to describe it.”
“Ah come on. I think it’s a challenge. Who will get the tsukai knocked up first?”
“You’re terrible. He’s protected by the king you know.”
“And Brolly. Don’t forget him.”
“Man, that bastard’s lucky. He gets all the tsukais.”
“Yeah, but he’s under orders. If it were me, I’d still prefer the prince.”
“Oh now who’s talking crazy? Have you heard what he’s done? He’s wiped out a good population of us already. Is he trying to make us extinct?”
“Nah. Maybe he wants to be the only tsukai left so he can do the repopulating. Hahaha-ah…!”
The soldier’s laughter died when he saw Brolly enter the cafeteria and give him a glare. The whole table silenced when the rest of them noticed him as well and went back to eating. Brolly ignored the bunch and lead the way to an empty table after they retrieved their food. The soldiers watched the tsukai that followed him, but didn’t say a word. Kakarot felt their stares, but ignored them as he sat down. “Isn’t there a more private place where we can eat?” He whispered to his bodyguard.
“You can’t hide from everyone forever. Don’t forget. You’re here to do what tsukai’s do…or find a mate.” Brolly sighed when he saw the solemn expression on the younger’s face. “Look, not everyone here is all bad. If you just talk to some of them, I’m sure you’ll find someone that’s not a complete bastard.”
“Easier said than done.” Kakarot muttered while he played with his food.
Brolly sighed again. “Alright, how about this. You can stay shut up in your room and away from everyone until you’re settled in, which really means until the guard I was telling you about comes back and takes my place next week. Got it?” When Kakarot kept playing with his food and didn’t answer, he repeated his last two words a little louder. “Got it?!”
Kakarot jumped slightly then stabbed his food with a fork and nodded, growling slightly. Neither said another word throughout their meal.
“Where is he?! Where is that little bastard!! I want him now! I want him dead!” A Saiyan with great stature barged into the throne room, obviously in a rage.
The king growled to himself, knowing that this was going to happen sooner or later. He quickly met the man in the middle of the room. “Now, now Lord Son. We’ve been over th-“
The noble interrupted him. “I said now! I want him dead now!” The man growled in his king’s face.
The king did nothing about it though, knowing full well that he had no right to question the noble. “Son, please calm yourself. My son’s punishment is already in order-“
“Bullshit! He’s the prince! What punishment could you possibly give him?!” The noble barked.
The king remained calm. “We’ve impregnated him with his mate-to-be’s sperm through artificial insemination and he shall finally be mated.”
The noble looked at his king as if he’d finally lost it. “What kind of a punishment is that?!”
The king rubbed his forehead to relieve the stress that was already building. “Believe me, Lord Son. If you knew my son like I did, it certainly isn’t a blessing for him.”
“Well I don’t think it’s good enough!” The man growled.
That’s when the king decided to shout back. “That’s not your decision to make! Look, I’m truly sorry about your son, but since it was my son, the prince, that did it…there’s only so much that I can do.”
“I think you should suffer the same fate and lose a son as well!” The man shouted back.
The king growled and took a step forward. “Is that a threat, Son?!”
A boy that looked to be in his early twenties decided to come to the rescue and ran in to get in between the powerful men. “No! Your highness, he doesn’t mean it. He’s just feeling much grief from losing my brother. I know it’s hard to understand, but he’s just not himself right now.”
“Stay out of this Goten! I meant every word of it!” The Lord tried pushing his son away.
“No father! Please calm down! Don’t make this worse for yourself!” The boy tried pulling his father away from the king.
“You should listen to your boy. You don’t want to make this worse for yourself or for him.” The king growled.
The noble growled back but was stopped by his son. “He’s right father. You’re not the only one who’s grieving over Gohan. What about papa? What about me?”
This actually seemed to calm the man somewhat. “I know…I know!” He rested a hand on his son’s shoulder. “I just hate myself so much because I couldn’t protect him. You must still feel some jealously towards your brother when we haven’t even paid any attention to you since we found out…” He trailed off.
Goten set his hand on his father’s. “No father. I don’t feel jealously. That’s gone now. I just miss him is all. I want there to be justice as well, but there’s nothing we can do.”
The noble seemed to pull himself together when an idea hit him. “Yes we can. We can find out how he died and what happened to him the whole time he was in that prison.” He turned back to the king.
“No, father…no we don’t need to know-“ Goten retorted.
“Maybe not you Goten, but I, for one, would like to know what happened to my son. What about that tsukai that survived? I heard he met with my son before he…passed on. I’d like to talk to him.” The man said in a surprisingly calm tone.
“Father-“ Goten tried to talk his father out of it, but the king interrupted.
“No, it’s alright. If anything, you deserve to know what happened.” The royal seemed to think for a moment before making a decision. “I’ll see if he’s up to it. He’s still adjusting from moving into the palace.”
“Why has he moved into the palace?” The noble demanded.
The king scowled at the other’s tone. “Because my idiotic son decided to mark him, therefore, making him useless in a facility. So I moved him here in the hopes of him fulfilling his duty as a tsukai.”
“That’s terrible.” Goten whispered.
“Hn. Makes sense. So, bring him here. I’m not leaving until I speak with him.” The noble was eager to know what happened, despite the well-being of the tsukai involved.
The king gave the man a look. “I’ll send a guard.”
Brolly sighed in boredom. “So, what do you want to do now? Train?” Kakarot shook his head in his place on the stone bench. He hugged his knees to himself as he stared at nothing, except the grass maybe. Brolly sighed again in his place on the grass. He took a gloved hand and plucked at the green blades and let them go to watch them float away in the wind. “Hm. Well, want to tell me about your dream earlier? It looked like a bad one.”
A shiver shot through Kakarot before quickly shaking his head. “I don’t want to talk about that.”
Brolly sat up from his half laying position. “You sure? It might help.”
“Yes, I’m sure!” Kakarot yelled. The last thing he wanted to think of was that. It’s been in his head all day. What he really wanted was to have a bad case of amnesia, like to the point where he had to relearn how to walk and talk.
Brolly frowned at the outburst, but before he could retort, one of the guards approached and interrupted him. “Sire.” The guard bowed to the burly Saiyan, who nodded in return. “The king has asked for the tsukai’s presence.”
Kakarot perked up slightly at that, but didn’t turn to face the man. “Why?” Brolly asked.
The guard became a little nervous. “Well, the…Son family has demanded…that they know what happened to their eldest heir, Gohan.”
Kakarot suddenly stood at the name and faced the guard. “Gohan?” He whispered.
The guard nodded. “Yes. They…wish to hear it from you since you were the last one to speak to him.”
Brolly stood as well and looked to Kakarot. “Kakarot, are you alright with this?”
Kakarot stared at nothing in particular as it all came back to him. He quickly shook his head. “No! I don’t want to remember! I don’t want to be reminded of what happened!” He covered his ears as if the images would go away from doing so.
Brolly took a couple steps closer. “Kakarot, it’s alright. You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” He said calmly as he gently rested his large hands on shaking shoulders.
Unexpectedly, Kakarot quickly turned around and embraced Brolly and sobbed into his chest. Without knowing what to do, the man stood still with his hands in midair before deciding to settle them around the tsukai. When the sobs continued, Brolly turned to the guard. “Please tell the king that he can’t make it.”
The guard hesitated a moment before answering. “I’m…afraid that he doesn’t have a choice.”
Brolly tightened his grip slightly in a protective manner around Kakarot. “Can’t you see that he can’t even keep it together by the mere mention of the subject?” He knew what the guard was going to say so he beat him to it. “Alright. Can’t you just…give him a minute?”
The man looked at Kakarot with a somewhat solemn expression before nodding and went to wait for them at the door. Brolly watched the guard leave and continued holding the tsukai. After a few minutes, the sobbing died down and Kakarot sniffled and pulled away. He took a few breathes and wiped his eyes before voicing his thoughts. “I-I guess…I couldn’t just forget about it, could I?” He looked at Brolly, but he didn’t know what to say, so he sniffled again and continued on. “Then again, maybe I shouldn’t forget about Gohan. He was a friend to me and therefore…I should honor him by remembering him…right?” Brolly looked at him helplessly before nodding his head somewhat in an unsure manner. “I should tell his family what happened to him. After all, they deserve to know. No matter how much they don’t like it.” Another sniff and a wipe at the eyes and Kakarot turned to the waiting guard. “Okay. I’m ready.”
Ack! Cliffhanger! >< Sorry folks, but I need ‘something’ in my next chapter. Hm, now how long is that going to take me to finish? :/ Hopefully soon. I’m on a roll, but I also need to keep up with my other stories.
Geez, I have a dream sequence in every story I’ve written. At least I think I have. Hey, who says that’s bad? Doesn’t hurt to throw the reader off every now and then, right? Then again, it’s starting to become expected. >.> By the way, I know I’ve been spelling Brolly’s name differently throughout the story. I know I spelled it one way in another one and now I’m spelling it differently and…yeah. It’s confusing, but hopefully it doesn’t throw the story off. :/ Hope it’s not getting boring…I should probably start throwing in the major events now. :/ Hm. This…might not be a very long sequel. Eh, we’ll see.
