Rikku opened her eyes and closed them again when she was blinded by the sudden brightness she saw. Slowly, she opened her eyes and discovered that the bright light she saw earlier was sunlight passing through the window.
When she had fully opened her eyes, she examined her surroundings while trying to remember where she was. Is she already in Otherworld? But if she is already in Otherworld, then why is her brother not around to greet her?
She got up and sat down on the bed where she lay before. She was in somebody's room, she finally realized. And she had been sleeping in somebody's bed. She looked down to examine herself and she found out that she wasn't wearing the clothes she had on when she escaped their planet, but a different one. She was wearing an oversized orange shirt that reached up until her knees. She tried to move her legs and winced a little when she felt a jolt of pain on her left leg. She looked down to examine it and found a blue material tied over her wound. It was already stained with blood. Her blood.
"Oh, you're finally awake." A voice said, interrupting her thoughts. She looked for the source of the voice and found a tall and handsome man standing beside the door of the room she was in. He had an unusual hairstyle and a muscular body, but he had a gentle smile plastered on his face. He walked towards the bed and sat down on one side while looking at her.
"I found you in the woods yesterday while I was fishing. You were wounded and you were asking for help, so I brought you here with me. I'm Goku, by the way, and this is my house." He told her.
She nodded while still staring at him, taking note of how handsome he looks. Sure, she had seen men before, but he had to be the most handsome man she had ever seen in her life.
"What is your name? And where are you from?" He asked her again.
"R-Rikku. My name's Rikku." She answered in a soft voice.
"Rikku. That's a nice name." He commented, mentally noting that their names sounded exactly the same. Also, now that she was awake, he took note of the fact that she is indeed beautiful. He loved the color of her eyes. They were greenish-blue and colored like a Super Saiyan's eyes. "Where are you from? I think you're not from around here, since you were wearing a different clothing yesterday when I found you. I even thought you were a Princess or a Royalty of some sort." He said to her.
To his surprise, she suddenly burst into tears. Goku panicked, instantly wrapping his arms around the girl while trying to calm her down.
"Hey, was it something I said? I'm sorry.." He said while hugging her and rubbing her back gently.
She clutched his shirt tightly. "They're gone... They're all gone.. He killed them." She said while crying.
Goku became even more confused. What was she talking about? Who killed who? "Sorry, I'm not getting you. Please try to calm down first, then tell me everything." He told her gently. She continued to cry while he hugged her tightly. For a moment, even though she was distressed when she remembered what happened on their planet, she seemed to enjoy the feeling of being enclosed in his arms. She felt safe and secure and it's as if nothing could harm her if she stayed there.
After a few minutes, she finally managed to calm herself. Goku released her from his hug and looked at her while his hands rested on her shoulders.
"Are you all better now?" He asked gently.
She nodded and smiled a little, though there were still tears in the corner of her eyes. "Yes. Thank you." She said to him.
"So.. Are you ready to talk now?" He asked her again.
She nodded. "Yes. You are right, Goku, I am not from around here. I came from Planet Marak. It's not very far from Earth. We were all living in peace. Me and my brother, Prince Virku, protected our people and our planet from invaders." She started.
Goku nodded. "So that explains your get-up when I found you. You're indeed Royalty." He said.
"Yes. We govern our people and our planet. We were trained to fight so we could protect everyone from conquerors and threats. Until one day, Zarr, the sole survivor of the Ziru race from Planet Ziru came to Planet Marak. He was looking for the Saiyans from Planet Vegeta. He even accused us of protecting the surviving members of the Saiyan race. Of course, that's not true. When Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, we knew that all Saiyans perished from it. But Zarr was insistent. He said that there are survivors left and he planned to exact his revenge on those living Saiyans. When we were not able to give him answers, he wiped out each and everyone of our people, until he came face to face with me and my brother. He said that he would destroy Planet Marak and kill my brother, but not me, because he wanted to start the rebirth of his race with me. My brother told me to escape while he fought Zarr. But my brother died. And Zarr finally destroyed Planet Marak. While I was travelling through space, he even followed me and blasted my space pod, that's why it was crippled and I crash landed here on Planet Earth. That's when you found me." She explained.
Goku frowned when he thought of the innocents killed by the creature she was talking about. If there was one thing he hated the most, it was murdering innocent people. What made him angrier is the fact that the creature she was talking about is actually after them. But when he didn't get what he wanted, apparently he chose to take many innocent lives and destroy a planet. Just like Frieza.
Rikku sensed Goku's anger because she sensed his ki as well as his power level rising. She grew afraid of him and cowered in a corner of the bed. Judging from how he looks right now, he seemed as if he was ready to kill someone with that murderous look on his eyes.
Goku noticed the girl and sensed her fear, so he immediately calmed himself. She had been through a lot, she had been traumatized, and scaring her is like adding insult to her injury. "I'm sorry if I acted that way, I just didn't like the idea of innocent people dying." He explained.
"It's all right.." She replied.
"By the way, we have to go to Capsule Corp. I have to talk to Vegeta about what you just told me." He said to her.
"Vegeta? You mean Prince Vegeta? He's here? Wait... How do you know him? You must be a..." She said, her eyes wide as she slowly realized something.
He smiled. "A Saiyan? Yes, I am. And yes, Vegeta, the Prince of All Saiyans is also here on Earth with me. He lives at my bestfriend's house in West City. Actually, he married my bestfriend, Bulma." He explained.
"But.. Your name doesn't sound like a Saiyan name. Although you really look like one." Rikku said as she looked at him, seemingly studying his features.
"I was sent to Earth when I was still a baby. My Saiyan name is Kakarot, but the old man who found me and adopted me as his own gave me the name Goku. Since then, I was used to being called by my Earth name instead of my Saiyan name. Only Vegeta calls me Kakarot." He explained to her.
She nodded with understanding. "I see." Then she became sad again. She had nowhere left to go now. Her planet was nothing but space dust now, and her only family is gone. If she stayed here on Earth, how would she survive?
Goku noticed this. "Is something bothering you?" He asked her with concern.
"It's just that I have nowhere left to go now. My planet is nothing but space dust, and my brother is already gone. I have nowhere to go now. I don't want to travel back in space, Zarr will probably hunt me down. He wanted me to be his queen, but I loathe him. He killed my brother. He destroyed my planet and my people. I cannot marry someone like that." She said while tears again formed on her eyes.
For some reason, Goku disliked the idea of her being that creature's mate. He didn't know why, but he didn't want the idea of anyone else touching Rikku intimately or making advances to her. "You can stay here with me. I live alone anyways. I had a family once, but they died years ago. Since then, I had been living alone." He told her.
She looked at him. "I'm sorry to hear that. It must be too hard for you." She said.
"Well, yes. Because I loved them more than myself. But I guess, some things happen for a reason. Anyway, as I have said, you can stay here with me. I don't mind at all. And don't worry because I won't let any harm come to you. I won't let anybody hurt you or touch you." He said to her.
His words caressed her heart, and she felt touched. On instinct, she smiled at him and threw her arms around him, like a young child would do if she had been given the thing she wanted most. "Thank you Goku. I promise I won't be a burden to you either." She said.
He returned her hug and caressed her soft red hair. "Don't mention it. Now, let's go to Capsule Corp so we could have a word with Vegeta. And I'd also like to introduce you to Bulma. You'll like her a lot. She's a nice woman." Goku said.
She untangled her arms from him and nodded happily. Then he grabbed her arm as he teleported the two of them to Capsule Corp, much to Rikku's amazement.
