Dragonball: Unforgotten
Chapter Forty-five
The events started to unfold rather quickly. Piccolo told everyone exactly what he overheard the evil raisin say. Apparently Namekian hearing was spectacular. Go figure. You were happy, however, that his ears just weren't for show although how they were stronger than anyone else's when the actual part that heard things didn't seem to be any bigger than yours was a mystery. You were decent at biology and anatomy but you weren't a scholar. Maybe Gohan knew...huh, alien taxonomy. Maybe you could make that a thing. It'd be fun.
"Let us see how this plays out," the Supreme Kai said.
Those words would bite him in the ass. Debura quickly got over to the cliff face and with his hand in Kibito's face, he sent the large pink man to the other world. Or as far as anyone could tell that's what happened. There wasn't really a body left after all. Goku and Vegeta jumped into the fray, throwing a few quick punches but they seemed to back off. Which...was confusing to you as it gave Debura time to target Krillin. His next attack you might ask? Spitting on the small Earthling.
"Oh no! I should have warned them!" you heard Supreme Kai say.
"Warn us about what?"
By the time you'd gotten your question out, Piccolo had also tried to charge the devil man and was spat on for his efforts. It seemed like such a weird thing to do until a crackling sound filled the air. White stone erupted and grew from the phlegm that Debura had spit on two of the warriors.
"It turns them to stone. It's one of Debura's special attacks."
"Wow," his level of incompetence was frightening you.
And while you didn't know about the fact that the Supreme Kai was telepathic, you weren't really sure if you would have cared at that point. Your mind was your safe place. If he was in there and didn't like what he found...well, that was his own fault.
"We can do nothing for them now." Goku rushed forward towards the stone version of Piccolo at the Kai's words. "Wait! Goku! Don't touch him. If you touch him now, he might break. And then there's no possible way to put them back together."
This time when Gohan got fired up you didn't reach out for his hand. You didn't try to stop him or comfort him. He had a good reason to be pissed. Especially with the taunt that Debura said as he flew off.
"I leave you one chance to run. Take it unless you'd rather end up like your friends."
"Can we put them on their backs so they don't get knocked over at least?" You asked the Supreme Kai.
He nodded slightly, his hand flickering out. There was this sort of energy that you were pretty sure wasn't exactly Ki. It wrapped around both the stoned Krillin and Piccolo, putting them onto their back as gently as possible.
"Hey, Supreme Kai. You said we can't put them back together if they break. Does that mean there's a way to return them back to normal?" Goku asked
The purple one nodded. "They will only return to normal if we are able to defeat Debura."
Well, he just seemed to make Goku's day. Or at least he made it better considering the fact that he thought he found such an easy way to return his friends to normal. And that was such a sexy smirk he had on. You smiled at that; he did confident very well. Goku really was in his element right before a fight. It was going to be nice to actually see him fight. Like a real one. Not just some street thugs.
"Oh, is that all? Good. Then it'll be easy. They'll be back to normal in no time."
"Let's do it dad," Gohan replied; though he looked far less comfortable than Goku and a bit angrier. "You and me together. I think it's time we show them who they're dealing with."
"What are we waiting for? Let's go!"
As the two of them took off, the Supreme Kai called up to remind them that, "Wait! You're falling right into their trap. Remember what Piccolo said! They're counting on the fact that you'll charge into their spaceship to stop them. It's safer for everyone if you just wait out here."
"I'm sorry," Goku called out from the sky. "But I just can't leave my friends like that."
"Watch over everyone!" Gohan said in a near polite tone. "Bella, are you staying here with the Supreme Kai?"
You looked towards the purple man and then back up to Gohan. Hell no you weren't. You really, really didn't like the guy's guts. Besides if horror movies had told you anything growing up (...though...you'd really not grown up much on Earth, huh...thoughts for sometime that wasn't now) it was that splitting up was a bad idea. And while you were technically still splitting up from the group by leaving the Supreme Kai at least you were with the group that you actually liked. Which was probably just as dangerous for you considering the fact that part of that group was made up by the man you were so confused over to begin with.
As you started after the two Sons, Vegeta made a snarky comment to the Supreme Kai as well before taking to the sky. It was all too soon before the space ship's entrance was in sight. Ominously it was open as though waiting to devour your group. You and the guys descended into the bowels of the ship with just about no hesitation. The room that everyone landed in was rather large with a door and something in the middle. The odd thing was that there was no one down there to greet you and the guys. At least not right away.
The Supreme Kai joined you, making Goku laugh goodnaturedly. "So, couldn't resist the call of a good fight after all?"
The purple thing replied sharply, "You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. Once inside this ship, there's no way out. Our only hope of escape now is to destroy Bobidi."
"IT," you said with a slight laugh, not wanting to say it's full name. Only Gohan really understood what you were saying without you having to say the full name of Instant Transmission; he'd spent six months with you after all, he'd gotten used to some of your idiosyncrasies. "Also, pretty sure if everyone here can destroy planets...we can bust out from the spaceship and some rock."
"Hn, the girl is right. I'll solve all our problems and blow this place into oblivion."
See, you knew there was a reason you liked Vegeta. He kept agreeing with you. Although from the looks on Gohan and Goku's faces they also agreed with you. They just hadn't said anything in support of your idea.
"No you won't! The sudden shock could set Majin Buu free."
"...not if you had killed him instead of leaving him here," you muttered aloud.
Which really just earned you a glare that possibly meant you were on the Supreme Kai's shit list. Considering how he treated his enemies, however, you were probably safe from his 'wrath' for another million years or so.
"The degree to which you've underestimated him is astounding. Don't you understand? Even at a fraction of his power, Majin Buu could annihilate this whole planet and all of its inhabitants in an instant. He can't be stopped."
"Vegeta, you were like what...at 10,000 when you tried to do the same thing?" You asked.
Vegeta scuffed but nodded in agreement. "Even a weakling can destroy a planet. I think you're underestimating us."
A minute later and the silence had gotten underneath Vegeta's skin. His pacing and rather pointed glares were like the key that opened the door. It rose up, the M getting higher and higher, to reveal what really did look like an actual alien. His stretched head was crowned in some kind of white armor and there were spikes of the same thing jutting out from his shoulders. He looked like there should be a tongue with a mini face coming out of his mouth at any moment. Dude was creepy.
"Welcome warriors. You've arrived at stage one."
"What's stage one?" Goku asked.
Awe, that was cute. It was kind of obvious that by stage one, the alien man had meant himself. But Goku seemed almost oblivious to it.
"Master Bobidi is on the bottom level of this ship. We are at the top level. Also known as stage one. And there's no way of getting down to him unless you beat the warrior that appear at each stage."
He was making this sound like a game.
"This is no game," the Supreme Kai hissed at you.
...shit, had you said that aloud? No, no you hadn't. You glared at the Supreme Kai from the corner of your eye.
"Stay out of my head, it's mine."
"You're right. This is no game. But you need not concern yourself with getting to stage 2. Because unfortunately for you, the first warrior is me. And that means that none of you will make it out of here alive," Creepy alien man opened his mouth to laugh.
You decided that he needed something inside of it. So you aimed a well placed, highly concentrated ball of ki to it. You sort of expected that it would somehow not make it through. The funny thing was that your ball of energy went right through his mouth, leaving a gaping hole in the back of his head.
"Huh...well that worked out better than I thought," you said as you blinked.
All of the eyes turned to stare at you in shock. You smiled nervously, looking down slightly and biting your lip.
You weren't very good at taking turns. You were an only child after all. So you hadn't really learned to wait and share. You also tended to act before you spoke. It seemed like the most opportune time to act when you saw his mouth open. You figured that since the insides were inside and not outside that they needed to be protected. In that case it meant that they were the weaker points; better targets. His head stretched backwards and since he was humanoid-ish you also figured that would be where his brain was. There was also the fact that he was monologuing and villains were always vulnerable when they were monologuing. Judging by the fact that he went down with the smoking hole in his head, you had to say that you were right.
"What? How?"
"I caught him monologuing," you said in response to the Supreme Kai's utter disbelief. "Sorry guys... figured we'd make this quick. And that you guys would need your energy more the further we got down since the grape man probably keeps the strongest closest to him."
As the creepy alien man's body gave what looked to be its final twitches, the middle of the floor started opening up. Goku and Gohan made their way over to that as they were only a few feet away. Meanwhile you moved over the the fallen villain and sent out a blast of energy to disintegrate the body.
"Don't you think that was a little overkill?" Gohan asked as he looked up from the hole.
"What if he was a regenerative monster?" You asked as you walked over to join them.
"Good point," your friend admitted.
Goku smiled, "You're kind of smart, huh?"
"Most of the time," you replied to him, smiling right back.
And then it was on to level two. You practically heard the game music playing a sound of accomplishment as everyone descended to the next level.
