Dragonball: Unforgotten
Chapter Forty-six
“These things are getting uglier.”
Your words rang out into the chamber paired with an intense look. The thing that stepped out from the next doorway looked like it had barely fit into the whole. It was almost like a cross between a toad that could walk up right and a hornet. Each arm had a stinger adorning it, and the creature looked incredible unbalanced. Most of its bulk was on its top half with the legs looking like a fraction of its size.
“Hn, did you expect all creatures to be as pretty as me?” Vegeta asked.
You weren’t sure if he was amused or annoyed by his tone. It sounded like both. So you were going to go with that assumption and tread lightly.
“I guess not? But like...look at that thing,” you made a gesture to the latest opponent. “I looks like a mutant toad fucked a hedgehog and a wasp and couldn’t figure out which one was the father.”
“Watch what you say!” The Supreme Kai. “Yakon is one of the deadliest predators of the far reaches of the galaxy! If we’re not careful and don’t work together, we’ll all die.”
He had so little faith in the boys. You hard a great deal more, but still you kept your mouth shut after that. Especially when you realized how rude you were being to the creature. For all you knew it could have been considered the most beautiful specimen of its kind. Much like the three men around you, which were attractive to you, could have been considered disgusting to a less humanoid species.
“Heh, for that, I will eat you first,” Yakon spoke out, looking directly at you.
“Hey, slow down there. She already had her turn. You’ll be fighting one of us next,” Goku said as he made a small motion towards Gohan, Vegeta and himself. “Trust me, it’d be safer to give up now.”
“Hn, You can have this one Kakarot,” Vegeta said as he crossed his arms.
“Awe, thanks Vegeta.”
Goku’s smile faded at Vegeta’s next words, “I will fight their strongest warrior on the next level.”
“No fair!”
You laughed at the pout on his face as Goku looked at the prince of all saiyans. From what you had picked up so far the base core that made Goku, Goku hadn’t really changed. Which was going to be a problem when everyone got out of the ship. You had to let him return to his family and the after life while you bore the burden of remembering everything. It was that thought which sobered you up a great deal.
As the two argued, Yakon went on the attack. True to his word, the large creature rushed at you. And despite how much progress you had made with Gohan in the chamber, you weren’t prepared. You were able to just barely dodge out of the way. The sting of his natural blades bit into your flesh, slicing open a good sized gash on your arm as you spun out of his way.
Yakon didn’t have an opportunity for a second attack. You watched with mild surprise and fascination as Goku was almost instantly between the beastly alien and you. One of his hand glowed brilliantly with Ki as he broke off the stinger before even a drop of your blood could fall for it. The other hand was against your middle as he had gently moved you out of the way so he could intercede. The touch lingered longer than he probably needed it to but you didn’t voice that.
“I told you, your fight isn’t with her,” his serious, almost angry tone almost made you shiver.
Instinctively your tail wrapped protectively around your waist. The great beast made a horrible screeching sound as the pain finally registered in his body and mixed with his rage. You moved back so that Goku had room to maneuver; when you did you felt the loss of the warmth from his hand like a jab to the gut. You kept your face straight so nothing seemed amiss as Goku began the fight.
The beast Yakon strung at him, only Goku was much faster than you were and he dodged. His knee ended up in Yakon's back. The creature crashed to the ground and Goku was in front of that crash. It was hard to keep up with Goku's movements exactly but you did your best. At the very least you were able to see the moment that Goku made contact with the other creature, pounding him around the room with little mercy. It was almost like a one sided dance. Watching him move and trying to figure out exactly how he did it was fascinating. It distracted you from the pain surging through your arm and the blood that was dripping onto the ground at the very least.
Suddenly the room shifted and spun out of control. Your heart raced even as the Supreme Kai explained that it was Bobidi's magic at work. You tried to look towards where he was speaking by the time that the room stopped spinning, you couldn't see him. The entire area was black. You took in a deep breath as you clenched your fists and focused on the world around you. Everyone's energy was like a fuzzy sight in the back of your mind which let you understand what was going on around you without the use of your actual eyes.
The fight was overly brief though. It almost felt like Goku had been personally offended and angered by Yakon when he powered up to super saiyan. A gripping sensation in your stomach told you that you might have been the reason why. Yakon had made a mistake when he'd come after you and ripped open part of your arm. But that gripping, fluttering feeling was something you tried to suppress. It wasn't because it was you, or so you told yourself, it was because he had seen someone get hurt. Goku was a very protective, kind soul. If he hadn't changed that much then that would still hold true. But the level of aggression he dealt with Yakon seemed a little extreme from where you were standing.
Still...it got the job done.
The dark world faded quickly, leaving the room back to what it was before. Only this time, the hole in the middle of the room was open. Vegeta was the first one through but the others, including yourself lingered. Gohan and Goku moved over to you. You looked between the two of them and the Supreme Kai. The later of which looked very impressed and a little panicked. You tilted your head as you blinked, looking back to the two saiyans curiously.
"I think he underestimated you guys," you teased with a small smile.
Gohan offered one in returen but Goku did not. Which was odd; right up until you saw that his eyes were focused on your damaged arm. You tried to turn your body slightly away from his gaze as you moved towards the opening. No sense in focusing on the inconsequential at this point.
"Supreme Kai," Goku spoke out as he stopped you from continuing through the hole.
"Y-yes Goku?" The Supreme Kai's voice even sounded surprised.
You felt Goku's hand flex on your wrist as he gently tugged you away from the opening. He spoke in a calm, rather jovial tone that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Can you heal her like your friend did Gohan?"
The kai seemed surprised but nodded softly. Goku gently released your arm, subtly putting you closer to the purple man. Said man was close to your height so you didn't really have to bend or have him bend. Without another word passing, the purple man radiated energy towards your arm. Pulse after pulse you felt it enter your body. The warmth was nice but the incessant itching the came with the healing processes was almost enough to drive you mad. The moment that he finished you started scratching at your arm as the ghost tingles continued to annoy you. Once that was taken care of, Goku had no qualms with jumping into the tunnel followed by Gohan, you and the Supreme Kai.
Oh look, another room that looked exactly the same...who'd have thought.
This one had something different than the last. It wasn't anything in the way of something that you could touch or see. It was actually the lack of what was in the room. Even after waiting there for a minute a new challenger had yet to appear.
"This is rediculous. I'm just going to blast my way to the bottom and be done with it!" Vegeta raged, aiming his hand towards the next middle area.
The Supreme Kai rushed into the area where he would have blast. His arms were spread wide, making himself as big as possible. You could see that he was very concerned over the situation but you just really didn't care. He seemed to have done nothing really worthwhile up to that point. Even fixing your arm didn't make up for his obtuse neglect of the danger in the situation.
"Don't! The tremor caused by your blast might awaken Buu."
Oh. Oh hell no.
"You said that he could only be awakened by a very specific, very obscure spell," you started in on the man who'd just won all of your ire. "So what is it? Can he be awaken by getting a little shaken up? Or is it the spell which you swore was so rare that no one other than his creators knew?"
The Supreme Kai was silent as he looked back to you with shock on his face. It seemed like you had just caught him in a lie. Although which lie you caught was up for debate.
"You don't get to say that you thought it was safe to leave him on this planet because nothing but a spell would awaken him and then go and derail Vegeta's plans to hurry this circus along because you're afraid a little shake might wake him up. That's not okay. That's messed up and you know it. Why the hell would a bit of shaking be able to wake him up if he can only be unlocked by that super secret, super hard spell that you were super super sure that no one else knows? Were you lying to us? Were you just hoping that the egg vessle bullshit thing didn't get unlocked huh?"
"Woah, calm down," Gohan tried to edge in.
"No, no, I'm done being calm. This whole situation is fucked. He's a shitty protector if that's what he is," you threw the accusing finger towards Supreme Kai. "He's the one who made everyone stop so you could be stabbed Gohan. He's the one that let your energy get sucked out of you, almost killing you. He's the one who knew about this oh so called great evil and did nothing for who the fuck knows how long about it. And his whole reason? Oh, because a super secret spell was the only way to wake him up. But now he's telling us we can't damage the ship because that might wake him up. And oh, better not rock it while we're here either. You never know how cranky that'll make him. It seems like everything can wake this so called monster up. And yet he left him on a planet that, in their own admittance, apparently was just giving rise to humanity. You know what's been happening since then? Earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, all sorts of natural disasters. And you know what else? Humans waging wars, genocides...aliens coming down with all sorts of abilities and knowledge. If this vessel was as fragile as he keeps trying to tell us then either he's a bastard who wanted all of this to happen so he lied to us to lure us in...or he's an incompetent fool. There is no middle ground."
Silence. You had shocked pretty much everyone with your temper.
"Blow the fucking door up Vegeta or I swear to any competent god actually out there that I will. But oh, you know what, don't waste too much energy. You know how to make a clean hole by now don't you?"
Vegeta scuffed at your remark. "What the hell do you take me for woman, an imbulsule? Of course I know how to blow open a god damned door."
"Good. Now do it so we can get home. Before your guys' little tykes try to find us. Or did you guys forget that you have other kids out there that can sense your energy and probably would love to come fight too?"
"huh...I didn't think about that," Goku admitted. "Hey, Gohan, do you think Goten and Trunks would try to come find us?"
Gohan's silence as he nodded, wide eyed, was answer enough. You looked pointedly to Vegeta despite the supreme Kai's disapproval. You felt your body being locked up and your eyes turned over to the Kai. That seemed like a desperate bid to regain control to you. That damned fool. You weren't the one he should have been trying to lock up. Although, you had a feeling you were the much easier target.
Vegeta smirked as he held out his palm. Within moments the energy blast had ruptured the door. "Let go of the woman or you're next."
Goku moved to stand in front of both you and the Supreme Kai, blocking Vegeta from attacking either you or him. "Vegeta, stop. This isn't right."
"Nothing about this has been right since we followed him to this place, Kakarot. That woman is right. She's the only one talking any sense here. Now let's just get this over with so we can fight the strongest warrior that Bobidi has and put an end to all the rubbish."
"Dad, maybe we should try to hurry," Gohan said cautiously, though you knew he didn't approve of the outright violence. "Goten and Trunks will probably be here in a couple of minutes. I don't want them mixed up with this. They're still too young."
Not that it ever stopped Gohan when he was younger from what you'd heard but hey, if that's what got them to move faster you were all for it.
Goku slowly seemed to submit to the will of the people. He looked back over his shoulder to the Supreme Kai with an almost regretful smile, "I'm sorry. But maybe they're right? Maybe we can do this our way instead of fighting on Bobidi's terms."
"Damn right," Vegeta scuffed.
"You don't have any idea! None of you do!" The Supreme Kai said desperately.
"Let me go so we can find out," you reasoned, your jaw clenching.
He looked around frantically but his hands quickly dropped, releasing you. Which meant that it was down into the bowls everyone went. And after blasting through another door (those liars there was more than three levels) you and everyone else found a very surprised looking Bobidi. The room was unimpressive by almost all standards. But what caught your attention was the giant purple peachpit looking object. You could feel the energy radiating from that thing. Gohan's energy.
"Bobidi!" the Supreme Kai rasped out.
The wizard called out for Debura in a frightened voice. For something that the Supreme Kai kept trying to make out to be a bad guy, well...he seemed rather pitiful. You watched as his hands went up and the world started to shift. Unfortunately, that was also at the time that you were launching the attack. You scattered countless of small energy shots around you and flung them at the wizard, just incase he was trying to hide. They riddled his body like bullet holes, dropping him to the ground in the matter of second.
You watched as his blood pooled on the ground and while you felt horrible for kind of sneak attacking, you weren't sorry. If everything that the neglectful kai had been saying was true then this man would have tried to destroy everything you loved. It was better to end it quickly.
"I...my...what?" Supreme Kai seemed completely baffled that everything ended so quickly.
"I told you didn't I? I act first, talking and questions get to come later," you muttered.
And just like before you walked up to the dead wizard and blew him away. Double tap style. Thank you zombie video games.
