By the time Heero came to, he was too weak to even get up from the position on the floor. The memories of what made him faint swam innt ont of his visions. He didn't want to get up, he didn't want to see that...that Duo was actually a figment of his imagination, that Duo was just a hallucination that his body mustered up because he was not in the right state of mind. No, what Heero feared was that if he got up, Duo on the bed would be erased, but then he felt the crumpled up paper that was in the dirt filled envelope still grasped in his hand.
Carefully, but slowly, Heero started to drag himself up. It was a miracle that Quatre had not stormed in here when he was unconscious. Heero would never hear the end of it.
Heero slowly peeked up from the side of the bed to see if Duo was still sleeping in his bed. There lying on the side of the bed was Duo all right. Heero with shaky legs got up and carefully sat at the edge of the bed. The little table on his side of the bed illuminated the room with its yellow lights. But then this time they weren't just plain yellow lights. It was as if they were a golden glow of a miracle touching the sleeping boy. As if god sent back his angel whom was unwillingly taken.
Heero edge slightly closer to the sleeping form of Duo. It was still hard to register what is happening, but then the note, was still in his hand. Did it say the truth? Heero won't know. If it were true then Duo would wake up, So Heero waited.

Duo slowly opened his eyes, but shut then quickly. The light was too bright, why was it bright? Wasn't his world supposed to be filled with darkness? Duo tired again this time and opened his eyes slowly, everything started to come in focus slowly. He realized he was in a bedroom. Duo felt to soft cushioned bed under him and the soft breeze that grazed his face.
He moved his arm a bit to see if it was even functional. 'Yep, it was' Duo though. 'Now lets see if you can turn your body around.' And promptly did so. What Duo didn't expect to see was Heero sitting on the cushioned chair sound asleep.
"How is it possible?" Duo said to himself. He must have said it pretty loud enough for the occupant on the chair to wake up. Duo froze.

Heero heard something beyond his slumber that woke him up. Everything from last night started to flood back him and made him jolt out of the chair. His eyes landing on Duo who was turned around and staring at him in shock.
"Duo..." Heero said softly.
Duo finding his voice, "H-hey Heero" he croaked.
The next thing Duo knew was Heero launching at him and holding him in a tight embrace. Duo felt Heero's body shacking at bit, and when he heard the small hiccups and whimpering confirmed that indeed Heero was crying.
"I...I can't believe it D-Duo. It was like a nightmare. I had a dream that you died in rms rms and no one could do anything to save you. I didn't even get to tell you how much I love you" Heero rambled.
Duo rubbed Heero on the back, trying to soothe the sobbing man. "Ne Heero, it's alright now, I'm here now" Duo said softly. He didn't know what to tell Heero. That it was true? That he really did die and that he didn't know why he was brought back again? Was it some sick joke?
"Heero I have to tell you something" Duo said softly.
"What ever it is, could it wait. I just want to hold you right now," Heero said.
"No Heero, it can't wait" Duo said pushing Heero lightly off him. "I-I really did die Heero, you are not imagining it. I died a long time ago, you see, I died from the plague on L2, but death was being cruel to begin with..." and Duo behis his long story while Heero sat down and tired to absorb in what Duo had to tell him.

After Duo was done Heero was staring at him like he was crazy. But he must believe in Duo. Duo never lies, not about these things.
"He told me he gave you a letter," Duo said softly. "What does it say?"
Heero, who still clutched the letter relaxed the grip on it and handed it to Duo who took it with care. He opened the envelope and laughed at the clumps of dirt inside the envelope. 'How typical of death to be sending a letter in this form' Duo though as he took out the dirty old sheet of paper and read the contents in it. As Duo read the letter, tears started to form in his eyes.
Heero squirmed uncomfortably. He had a feeling that it was bad news and that Duo was only back for a while and would soon be snatched away by darkness, but what came out of Duo's mouth made all those thoughts disappeared.
"Oh my god" Duo choked. "He's giving me another chance Heero! He's giving me another chance by living my connected to yours!" Duo said, happy tears falling from his eyes.
Heero though only heard the 'He's giving me another chance' part didn't understand what Duo meant that Duo is now living by being connected him. Duo must have saw his confused look because he explained.
"Death gave me a chance to live with you Heero because you called me back" Duo said, "and in so, he connected my life with yours. That means that I only die when you do."
After Duo explained it, Heero got the whole situation. 'Duo dies when I die, that means that we would be together forever' Heero thought as tears of happiness sprung from his eyes. Heero embraced Duo with a strong hug. He couldn't believe that this is happening at all. It has been one surprise after another for him and he doesn't know what to do, but thank death for being so kind to them.
When the embrace ended, Duo pulled away and poked at Heero. "Ne, Heero when was the last time you ate! You want me to go off and die again cause you want to starve yourself?" Duo joked.
Heero gave Duo a small grin. "Then what are we waiting for Duo? Let's go eat!" Heero said tackling Duo to the bed and tickled the boy. Today would be the day that Heero would never forget. His angel came back as a belated birthday gift.

Quatre yawned and stretched as he descended the stairs. It was his turn to make breakfast, but when he reached the landing he sniffed the air. Someone was already up cooking? Who could it be, he knew that Trowa was definitely still sleeping in their bed, could it be Wufei?
Quatre rounded the corner to get a full view of the kitchen, what he saw made him think he was halnatinating. Heero was in Quatre's pink apron, humming while he fried an egg on the skillet.
"H-Heero?" Quatre said meekly.
Heero turned around when he heard his name being called. "Good morning Quatre! Breakfast will be served in a bit," Heero said while flipping the egg professionally.
"Are you alright! Are you still feeling sick?" Quatre asked, hurrying to Heero's side to check his temperature. Heero gave off a look that tells Quatre that Heero was in the happiest mood and nothing can ruin it. 'This isn't good' Quatre though as he backed up from Heero to call for back up, but he bumped into someone behind him.
"Hey Quatre, you should look out where your going" a familiar voice said behind him. Quatre recognized that voice, but he was too afraid to turn around, but did so anyway. Slowly that is, and came face to face with Duo's large violet eyes. The last thing Quatre knew was the welcoming darkness that surrounded him as he fainted from shock.
Duo looked at Heero in concern. "Let's move him to the living room. When he wakes up along with the other guys, I got some serious explaining to do," Duo said with a sigh. Heero agreed.

When the other guys finally decided to wake up and go downstairs hoping to eat some breakfast. Heero, who told them that he has something to show them, greeted them. They waited in the living room where Quatre was starting to stir a bit.
"What is going on here," Wufei demanded while Trowa tried to help Quatre up.
"Wha-where am I?" Quatre asked when he became fully awake.
Heero cleared his throat. "I brought you guys here because I think that you should be the first to know about this situation," Heero said.
"What situation?" Wufei asked feeling Quatre who was at his side tensed up.
"My situation," a voice said behind Heero. Duo stepped out from the hidden entryway that connected kitchen to the dinning room. Time might have stopped because no one moved a muscle. It was Wufei who broke the silence.
"What the hell is going on here!" Wufei shot up from his seat, "You were dead, we...we buried you. The death certificate and the autopsy..." Wufei rambled on still not believing the situation.
"Yes, but I guess Death has other intentions for little old me," Duo said. "I didn't expec-," Duo never finished what he was saying because he found himself an armful of Quatre. The sobbing blonde was holding onto Duo for all its worth; trying to drink in the fact that Duo wasn't gone, that his best friend was actually there with him. Besides Heero, Quatre's heart ached almost twice as much when Duo was gone, but he could show that to the others. Quatre had to stay strong so they would not all fall apart, but now that Duo was back, Quatre couldn't hold it back anymore.
"I thought you left me Duo, we still had so much to talk about, so much to plan!" Quatre sobbed. "We were supposed to go to the beach and enjoy ourselves, just the five of us, but then you left so suddenly," Quatre said wiping his tears all over Duo's shirt.
"Ne, Gomen Quatre, I didn't realize you were feeling this much," Duo said softy, petting the top of Quatre head. "We have all the time in the world now to make up for it" Duo said.
Quatre looked up and sniffled. "Really? You promise?" Quatre said.
"Yes, that is if Heero doesn't die," Duo said.
"What do you mean?" Trowa finally spoke.
"I think you guys need to sit down. What I am going to tell you will be a long story," Duo said as he untangled himself from Quatrholdhold and led them to sit down. Once they were all settled, Duo told his tale, and Heero told his.

Two weeks have passed, everyone who where shocked at the sudden death of Duo Maxwell, were now shocked with his sudden revival from Death. Heero made promise that Duo was never too far from him. Heero took great care with his life and health as well as Duo's because the framed letter that hung over their bed always reminded him of how precious life is and that living it to the fullest with Duo by his side is the greatest gift he could ever receive.
