Viking

Chapter 3

Na-paj

Heero huddled, numb with cold and miserable, on the planked deck of the dragon

ship, beneath the meager protection of the tent Duo had ordered erected for he and J.

Duo’s flagship, DeathScythe. Was the largest of the five. Heero had learned much

about these fierce Viking warriors since being taken from his home and dragged

aboard Duo\'s ship. Heero had not known what to expect once he lost sight of land.

He had never been so far from the coast before, or with men who both hated and

feared him.

He was grateful for J\'s company, for Duo had all but ignored him once they set

sail. He had expected to be set upon and raped. But no one had touched him,

though he sometimes caught Duo glaring at him as if would like to wring his neck.

He had greatly appreciated the tent and the measure of privacy it provided.

They had been at sea five days when the first storm struck. The ship was tossed

about like a cork, blown hither and yon by the capricious wind.

Heero and J huddled together beneath the meager canvas shelter, praying that the

wind and waves would no rip them away from beneath it.

J was pale as a ghost. During the height of the storm he had staggered to the

side of the ship to vomit. When he returned he collapsed beside Heero, moaning

and clutching he stomach. Though queasy himself. Heero knew he had to do

something to ease J\'s suffering.

He searched through his medicine chest until he found a small vial containing

Valerian, a potion often given to ease distress. Then he left the shelter in search

of fresh water.

Poised at the tiller of his wind-tossed ship, Duo saw Heero leave

the tent and experienced a moment of fear.

He knew that Heero\'s small body was no match for the violent elements and

he watched in trepidation as Heero inched his way across the wind swept deck.

Just then, Duo became aware of a great clamor that rose up among the crewmen

when they saw Heero.

\" \'Tis the witch! He has cursed us! Throw him overboard!!.\"

One of the crew men seized Heero and lifted him above his head, intending

to pitch him into the sea. Duo\'s heart pounded furiously as he left the tiller,

shoving and pushing his way through to Heero.

\" Put him down,\" He ordered with cold fury. \" The youth id my thrall, no one is

to touch him but me. It does no please me to kill him.\" Ulm stepped forward,

his _expression ruthless, hard. \" the boy is a witch, Duo. He has called

Thor\'s fury down upon us. We will all die.\"

\" We have all faced storms, some worse then this,\" Duo scoffed. \" My ship is

in no danger. Deathscythe rides the waves with ease. Go back to your stations.

Even as I speak the storm abates.\"

Heero was lowered to none to gently, to his feet, as the men returned to their

chores, grumbling about witches and spells. Duo grasped Heero\'s arm and dragged

him back to the shelter.

\" What were you doing out there?\" He demanded to know. \" You could have

been swept overboard. My men think you caused the storm.\" He eyed Heero

suspiciously. \" Did you?\"

\" Nay! I did not! Let me go! I needed water to mix with a potion for J, he is ill.\"

\" Stay here, I will fetch the water. The men are riled enough, seeing you only

makes it worse.\"

A few moments later Duo returned with a horn filled with water. He handed it to

Heero, then turned his attention to J.

\" What\'s wrong with him?\" he asked.

\"He is sea sick. I found a potion in the medicine chest to ease the symptoms,

but I needed water in which to mix it.\" Heero explained as he poured a few drops

of liquid from the vial into the horn. Then he knelt beside J, lifted his head and put

the horn the old wizards lips. After J took a few sips he closed his eyes and

appeared to drift off to sleep.

\" What did you dive him?\" Duo asked. \" What matter of magic have you brewed?\"

\" No magic.\" Heero returned. \" \'Tis merely an infusion of valerian to ease his

stomach. All healers know of this remedy.\"

Duo stared at the youth before him. Even wet and bedraggled, Heero was lovely.

His captivating eyes seemed to reach into his very soul. Duo tried to look away

but could not. His fingers itched to touch Heero\'s face, his hair, find the sensitive

places on the boy\'s body and memorize them.

Duo had tried to ignore him these past five days, with little success. he should

take Heero now and ease his lust between the youth\'s white thighs.

The only thing that stopped him was knowing that once would not be enough.

\" Why are you looking at me like that?\" Heero asked.

\" How am I looking at you?\"

\" You are staring at me like you did that first night you found me bathing in the

stream.\" Heero retreated a step but there was no where to go.

Duo\'s gaze did now waver, this was the first time he had been alone with Heero

since he had set eyes on him. Despite the fact that nearly thirty men were toiling

against the storm a few feet away, and that the wizard was sleeping near by, he felt

if no one else existed but Heero.

\" Do you fear me, Heero?\" Duo asked when he saw the youth beneath the intensity

of his gaze.

\" N-n-nay.\"

\" You should. Vikings are the most feared of all men. Many call us crazed savages.

Berserkers. Pirates. We are all those things and more\"

He stalked Heero into a corner. \" I could squeeze your scrawny neck with one

hand if I were of mind too.\" Duo nearly laughed when he saw Heero raised his

pointed little chin in blatant challenge.

\" What is stopping you?\" Heero asked boldly.

\" Those seductive midnight eyes, for one,\" Duo muttered. \" If I kill you , I fear

I will be damned forever. But I am stronger then you. One way or another I will force

you to release me from your spell.\"

Duo gave the boy a hard look.

\" You are my slave. I can gorge myself on your sweet flesh if it pleases me to do so.

Once I am sated, perhaps the spell will be broken and I will be free of your enchantment.\"

\" You are mad! If I were a witch I would never cast a spell upon a Viking, a man

universally feared and despised.\"

Duo\'s jaw tightened and his brows drew together in a fierce frown.

\" I do not thyou you despise me at all, Heero. I remember the heat of your kiss, the

provocative curves of your body. The memory seduces me even in my dreams.

To Heero\'s horror, Duo reached for him, dragging his slight body against that powerful

chest. Duo had removed his mail; Heero felt the remarkable hardness of sinew and

muscles against his chest. Then all thought ceased as Duo grasped a handful

of soft thick earth brown hair and pulled Heero\'s face to his.

His mouth came down hard on the youth\'s, bruising Heero\'s lips. Heero opened

his mouth to rage against the indignity and found it filled with the Viking’s tongue.

Heero felt helpless, completely and utterly possessed by this fierce sea raider.

The assault upon his emotions stole his breath and sent blood pounding through

his veins. Heero was surprised when he felt Duo\'s lips soften and gentle;

he had expected brutality but found startling pleasure instead.

What manner of man was this fierce Viking? Tender one moment and

intimidating the next. Duo thrust his loins against him, making

Heero aware of his rampant lust. His staff was fully distended and throbbing.

Heero moaned as Duo slid his hands down to his firm buttocks, pulling

the youth flush against him.

Heero offered resistance but Duo quelled it with the sheer strength of his

determination. His hands skimmed Heero\'s hips and waist slowly moving inward,

to ease between their bodies.

Heero could stand no more of this...this molestation. He grasped a double hand

full of the Viking’s thick braided rope of copper-chestnut hair and yanked with

all his might. Duo broke off the kiss with a groan and a curse. Heero tried to break

free of the Viking’s arms, but Duo was immovable, much stronger then he.

A mass of muscle, brawn and tenacity. When he started to lower Heero to the deck,

the youth protested violently.

\" God help me! Nay, Viking cease!\"

\" You are my slave, Heero. I will have you now.\"

God must have heard Heero\'s cry, for the deck heaved beneath them and water washed

through the tent, nearly sweeping them away. Lightning flashed. the wind howled

and the sea surged. The ship traveled up one trough and down another, buffeted from

every direction, sending men and sea chests sliding across the wet deck.

\"Thor, save us!\" Duo cried, sending Heero a dark look. \"Tis true! you *are* a witch

Virtue. He prayed for forgiveness and lie.

“ If that is what then you think then, Aye tis true.”

Duo paled, but was allowed no time to consider the implications of the youth’s reply.

He was needed immediately at the tiller. He was the only man aboard with the experience to lead them safely through the storm.

“Tis far from finished between us, Heero.” Duo promised in parting.

“You did well to resist him, Heero.”

Heero glanced down at J. He was not sleeping as he had thought. The wizard’s eyes were open, his burning gaze fastened to Heero’s face.

“ You heard?”

“Aye, and saw too. Tis as I predicted. The Viking believes you have bewitched him, but in truth tis much more. He is a hard man, Heero. There will be difficult times ahead for you. But one day Duo the Relentless will recognize your worth and open his heart to you.”

“ Nay, I do not wish it. Why; J? Why must it be the Viking? Is there naught I can do to change the course of fate? I do not want the Viking. He is too strong and powerful. He wants to make me his whore. \"

\" In the fullness of time you will be everything to him, Heero.\" Before Heero could question this strange remark, sleep once again claimed J. Heero mused over J\'s words. How could he be every thing to Duo, when the man believed him to be a witch?

None of this made since.

* * *

A week later the dragon ships made land fall an the western coast of Scotland. They

sailed up a river and erected tents on the beach, fill their water bags, made an

evening meal of fresh game, then sailed away the following morning without

encountering a single soul.

Heero and J shared a tent, they were fed gurdginly by men who both eyed them

with fear and revulsion. Heero knew the Viking\'s blamed him for the frequent storms

they had encountered and they wished Duo had slain him.

Days passed, the sea was monotonous and unchangeable, except the brief periods

of rain and storms. The dragon ships made brief stops on the Isle of Skye and

the Orkney\'s to replenish their water supply and feast on fresh meat.

On Skye, Ulm plundered a nearby monastery that yielded gold, silver and captives.

The plunder was stored below the planked decks and the captives were divided

among the other four dragon ships. Heero felt a pang of pity for the poor monks, who would no doubt be sold into slavery.

Before they left the Orkney\'s, Duo informed Heero that the next landfall would be

his home land.

\"Prepare yourself, slave. \" Duo warned \" My father and brother will not welcome

you. They will think me crazed for bringing you to our home. I can only guess what

my Betrothed will say.\"

\" You are betrothed?\" Heero asked, wondering why he should be surprised. Most

men Duo\'s age were either wed or betrothed.

\" Aye. I am to wed Relena the Fair. Why are you not wed?, True you are young, but

you are old enough to have a mate.\"

Heero flushed. It was true. Most people wed at thirteen. If they were breeders or

wed to breeders they would have several sons or daughters by Sixteen, his age now.

But Odin had not insisted that he wed when he came of age. He instead learned all

he could from J and kept his father company when his mother died.

\" There was no one I wished to wed.\" Heero explained. \" And my father did not push

me to wed. I am a healer. My gifts are better utilized without a mate and children

vying for my attention.\"

\" Are you saying there has never been anyone whom you have been attracted?\"

Heero gazed past Duo, recalling Solo (*smirk*), the brave young man who had died

while saving him during a freak winter gale that had blown in from the sea and

nearly swept Heero away with the tide.

Solo was a gentle and kind soul. Heero may have wed him, if he had not been carried

out to sea and lost.

A surge of jealousy jolted Duo. Heero\'s _expression has turned wistful and he

wondered who has stolen this beautiful youths heart.

\" So there was someone, why did you not wed? Duo asked.

\" He is dead.\"

\" Did you love him?\"

\" Perhaps.\"

\" What kind of answer is that?!\" Duo demanded.

\"Tis all you are going to get.\" Heero replied, carefully hiding his smirk.

\" Did you gift him with your virginity before he died?\"

\" If I did, tis none of your concern, viking.\"

Duo gave him a smile that did not reach his eyes. \" Tis no account. Soon I will find

out for my self, Will I?\" ?\"

\" I think not, Viking.\"

\" We shall see, Witch.\"

* * *

That was the last time Duo had spoken to Heero until DeathScythe and the other

dragon ships sailed up the fjord and docked at the trading town of Kaupang.

It was late summer.

Heero had no idea what he would encounter in Duo\'s homeland, but he never

expected to see a thriving town, bustling with people and activity. The mesmerizing

sight of towering snow caped mountains outlined against clear blue skies captivated

him.

\" Heero will ride with me.\" Duo announced \" J can follow on foot with Ulm and the

others.\"

Heero followed Duo onto the narrow dock, gazing with interest at the assortment

of houses and buildings hugging the banks of the fjord.

\" Tis a fine town. \" Heero said as he looked his fill.

When they reached the place where Duo\'s horse awaited his master, Duo lifted

Heero with ease as if he weighed no more than air, onto the the large animal\'s

back then leaped up behind him.

The horse reared then shot forward. Moments later they were racing through the

countryside. Heero found himself pressed between Duo muscled thighs. The

Viking\'s arms holding him tightly, lest he be thrown to the ground.

Duo rode with wild abandon, which did not surprise Heero in the least.

Duo the Relentless generated excitement. He did everything with vigor, and

passion, and he had a zest for life that made everyone else pale in comparison.

Duo was intensely aware of every curve of Heero\'s body, pressed so intimately

against his. Heat suffused him. His loins stirred, blood pounded through his veins.

He had to be under a spell, he reasoned , for he could not recall ever being so

obsessed with anyone, man or woman.

His arms tightened around Heero, pulling the resisting youth\'s body against the

muscular hardness of his. Duo could no remember when anything had felt better

then the warm body now pressed against him.

\" You needn\'t hold me so tightly.\" Heero complained \" Or ride so wildly. Are you

trying to kills us both?\"

Duo gave a laugh of pure enjoyment. \" Do no worry, Witch. I can control this beast.

Just as I will control you. One day I will break the spell you have placed upon me,

and when I do, your magic and enchantments will have no teeth.\"

\" I am of no threat to you.\" Heero claimed.

Duo gave the youth a look that conveyed without words, unbearable fascination. For

an entire year, Duo had suffered Heero\'s enchantment, his spells, the bedevilmentof Dof Duo\'s mind and body. Heero had lured him to the island, bared his body then

cast his spell.

Duo knew he should have killed Heero and freed himself, but something inside him

had balked at slaying a youth with powers he did not understand. Duo was still

lost in thought when Heero spied a collection of buildings built of rough pine logs

sporting pitched roofs of either straw or turf.

There were so many buildings that it looked like a small village.

they had arrived at Duo\'s home
