Chapter 5. Reunion And The Paparazzi Show
Kai sat up slowly in bed, stretching and rubbing his lower back. It hurt like hell, that was for sure. He looked down to his side, seeing the redhead sleeping soundly beside him, a smile coating his soft face. Kai smiled himself and leaned down, brushing his lips over the blue wolf’s forehead and placing a soft kiss on his temple.
Kai turned to the clock on the bedside table, reading the numbers through his blurry eyes. 4:15 am. Sighing quietly, he stood slowly, gritting his teeth together at the pain shooting through him. He looked back at Tala and smiled weakly, heading toward the bathroom.
‘Damn he really did me in last night,’ Kai growled. ‘Why did I ever let him be on top.’
He turned on the shower and felt the water, enjoying the heat as steam washed by his body and escaped under the door. He pulled the curtain fully open and stepped in, letting the water wash over his sweat-dried body. He sighed, running his hands through his hair, letting his silver bangs drop over his forehead and into his eyes. He leaned against the wall, cussing himself from the pain running up his lower region.
‘I am so going to get you back,’ Kai grumbled to himself.
Tala rubbed his head against his pillow, groaning as white light shone into his eyes. He propped himself up onto his arms, looking at the empty bed beside him. His face crossed with concern and he looked around, focusing in on the bathroom and the steam coming from under the door.
“Hope he isn’t to sore,” Tala laughed quietly.
He sat up and stretched rubbing his eyes, ridding them of their sleep. He yawned and stood, wrapping a robe around his body and walking over to the window, watching as the snow fell silently onto the large houses and spruce trees outside. Smiled, remembering the night before, but a frown crossed his features after, trying to make out what Kai had said to him afterward when he was almost fully asleep.
(Flashback)
Kai growled beneath Tala, his hands clenched into the sheets of the bed, he tilted his head tot he side, squeezing his eyes shut and moaning gently. He had wanted Tala to feel like he wasn’t being used and allowed him to be the seme. Not one of his strongest moments, he knew that, but at least he could prove something to Tala that he wasn’t his friend just for a good fuck.
Tala moved slowly, dragging out their moment like Kai had done in the morning. He felt Kai squirm below him and smirked, leaning down to press a gentle kiss onto his lips. He leant up, running one hand up Kai’s thigh softly and back down again. He could feel himself starting to lose control and knew he couldn’t keep this up for long.
Tala reached between him and Kai, wrapping his hands around his friends erection, stroking it in the best time he could with his thrusts.
“Tala... harder... please...”
Not one to make Kai wait, Tala did as he was told, pushing deep into the phoenix below him with a shudder. He felt Kai clamp around him and growled down at him, knowing he was only doing it for fun. Tala smirked and tightened his grip on Kai’s erection, stroking it harder. He heard his phoenix gasp and arch below him and a warm liquid spread onto his hand and stomach.
Kai clenched again, but this time, harder. Tala hissed and with one hard push, released himself within Kai, sliding out and dropping down beside the silver and blue haired phoenix. He took a deep breath and rolled into Kai’s stomach, leaning his head gently onto the pillow. He felt Kai’s hand slid down his arm and wrap their fingers together in a gentle hold.
Tala felt sleep consuming his body, feeling the quick rhythm of his and Kai’s hearts. Sighing softly, he allowed the sleep to overtake his body, but scrunched his brow together when he thought he heard something.
“I love you... and I promise I’ll never leave you again...”
‘Was that just my imagination?’
(End Flashback)
“Hey, you alright?”
Tala snapped out of his daze and turned around quickly, tripping on his robe and slipping. He waited to feel hi head smack against the window, but no pain came. He opened an eye and found Kai’s arms wrapped securely around his waist, his wet body holding him to his chest. Tala smirked and stood up straight, readjusting his robe.
“You okay?” Kai asked with concern.
Tala smacked his hand away gently and smiled. “Fine, you caught me before I could fall remember.”
“Well aren’t we cheery this morning,” Kai hummed, watching Tala’s retreating back.
“Sorry, I was thinking,” Tala mumbled.
Kai looked concerned at his friend again as he pulled out a pair of baggy sweats and a shirt. He watched as Tala walked into the bathroom and closed the door. Growling to himself, Kai slumped onto the bed, hissing from the pain. He glared at the door.
“I am so getting you back for last night,” Kai yelled at the door.
“No problem,” Tala yelled back. Kai could tell he was smirking. “I don’t much like being on top anyway. To much work.”
“You’re a real bag of laughs you know that,” Kai said, smirking himself.
“Isn’t that why you care oh-so-much for me?” Tala said, turning on the shower head.
“Ha ha,” Kai mumbled to himself, sliding on his boxers.
After his shower, Tala stepped into the bedroom, running a towel through his hair. Kai had already retreated to the kitchen to cook, and it smelt awesome. Tala dressed in his usual: orange and white pants and a matching jacket with a back shirt underneath. He walked out into the kitchen, Kai’s back to him and cooking slowly. He turned when he heard Tala sit down.
“Hungry?”
“Famished.”
“Well I made you your favorite. Eggs benedict,” Kai said, placing two eggs and hollandaise sauce onto two pieces of toast.
“You didn’t have to you know,” Tala said with a smile.
Kai shrugged, placing the plate down on the table. Tala watched as Kai walked back to the stove and placed the frying pan into the sink.
“Not eating?” Tala asked.
“Not hungry,” Kai replied.
“Deja Vu,” Tala said with a smirk.
Kai shrugged, sipping at his coffee like last time.
“Eat,” Tala growled, cutting a piece and placing it in front of Kai.
Kai leaned forward and pulled the piece from the fork, chewing it gently before lifting the paper. He smirked and turned the paper to show Tala, who looked and smirked himself.
“What’s it say this time?” He asked, taking another bite.
“Teammates Rei Kon and friend Lee were seen once again making-out in a public park, but this time, things weren’t as happy as the last time. Long time friend Mariah, sister to Lee, caught the two during the session and went into a fit, yelling and screaming, says a source,” Kai read, looking over the picture again.
Tala pulled the paper out of Kai’s hands and started laughing, looking the photo up and down. Mariah stood, holding Lee by the ear and Rei yelling at her. Her eyes looked dangerous and fiery, like she would kill anyone at that moment. Tala placed the paper back down and dropped his fork onto his plate, looking at Kai mischievously.
“Now I really can’t wait for that reunion,” Tala growled playfully.
“Any why is that?” Kai asked curiously.
“You and me are going to put on quite a show,” Tala snickered.
Kai smirked and stood up, walking over to Tala and leaning down to kiss him gently before standing up and heading to their room. He packed up his things and brought his suitcase out, dropping it beside his travel bag.
“How long are we going to be in France?” Tala asked when Kai entered the kitchen.
“Three days starting tomorrow,” Kai replied, dumping out his coffee cup.
Tala smirked and went to the bedroom himself, bringing out his suitcase and placing it beside Kai’s He looked at the travel bag and turned, but stopped when he saw a blue box sitting on the top. He reached down and picked it up, looking it over curiously. He was about to open it when Kai entered.
“It’s almost six and the others aren’t here yet,” Kai said, leaning on the frame.
“Don’t worry, they’ll be here,” Tala said, dropping the box back into the bag.
Kai and Tala turned when their was a knock at the door and Tala smirked, walking passed Kai and toward the door. Kai shook his head and looked at his bags. He froze when he saw his travel bag was still open. He ran to it and zipped it up, picking up the box and placing it in his pocket.
‘God I hope he didn’t see it,’ Kai said to himself.
“Hey Kai,” Brian chimed, walking into the living room “Ready to get going?”
Kai nodded and picked up his bags, walking tot he door to put on his shoes. Tala passed him, moving into the living room. He looked around and noticed the box wasn’t anywhere. He looked back to Kai and noticed he had zipped up his travel bag. Sighing, Tala picked up his bag and walked to the door, putting on his boots and walking out the door, locking it and heading down the their waiting limousine
*~*~*
The plane ride was long, tiring and sleep filled. They had had a private jet take them and everyone got a seat that could be pushed into a bed. Spencer and Brian immediately had fallen asleep, leaving Kai and Tala to their awkward silence. After a short time, Tala pulled his seat down and began to doze off, leaving Kai to muse while looking out the window at the clouds and blue sky.
‘He might have only seen the box. It doesn’t necessarily mean he saw what was inside,’ Kai thought to himself. ‘That’s total bullshit. He must have been curious and looked in. But if he didn’t then...’
Kai looked down beside him att he sleeping redhead, his back to him and sleeping comfortably. Kai groaned. He was so tired but couldn’t sleep. He didn’t want to. Their were to many things floating around in his head that he needed to sort out. He heard the captain speak over the intercom and looked up to listen.
“We are now descending in Paris, France. Please pull all chairs into an upright position and fasten your seatbelts. Thank you.”
Kai touched his friends shoulder and shook it gently. Tala stirred slowly and looked at Kai with blurry eyes. He grumbled and sat up stretching and leaned his chair back up, rubbing his eyes.
“What is it?” he asked.
“We’re descending,” Kai announced. “I’ll wake up the others.”
Kai stepped over Tala and woke the other two, getting an angry glare from Brian and almost a fist in the face from Spencer. He sat back down as the two set their seats up and fastened their belts, yawning and stretching from sleep.
“Did you sleep?” Tala asked, looking over at Kai.
A shake from the boy next to him.
“Weren’t you tired?”
A nod.
“Thinking?”
Kai turned to Tala this time, looking him directly in the face. He took in a deep breath and leaned back into his seat, smiling at the other boy.
“Yea, I was thinking,” Kai said in a hushed voice.
“About what?” Tala asked.
“About two years ago. When you left,” Kai said, more quietly this time.
“I think back to that day too,” Tala said, almost sadly. “You were going to tell me something but got interrupted by the taxi.”
“Yea,” Kai mumbled.
“What were you going to say?” Tala asked, putting Kai into an uncomfortable position.
“Well... I was going to... you see...” Kai put his hand in his pocket, his entire body shaking. “I was going to give you...”
“We are now landing in Paris, France. Please grab your belongings and get ready to exit the flight.”
Tala looked up and grabbed his duffle bag, pulling it down into his lap. Kai cussed inwardly to himself and pulled down his own bag, leaning his head back, his entire body screaming on the inside.
‘It happened again. I got interrupted and now I can’t tell him... I just cant.’
The plane came to a stop and the stewardess walked to the door, opening it for the team. Brian and Spencer stood up first, heading toward the door. Tala was next, followed by Kai. The wolf and phoenix looked out the window at the many people and camera waiting for them. They smirked at one another and Kai put out his hand. Tala looked down at it and back up at Kai, placing his hand over top of his friends and lacing their fingers together.
“Just like we planned,” Tala said.
“Just like we planned,” Kai repeated, a grin on his face.
Flashes exploded as the team descended the steps of their plane, reporters and photographers crowding around and yelling out questions to them. Brian and Spencer smirked at one another and pushed through, giving out yes’s and no’s as they walked. Kai and Tala merely walked behind them, holding hands and nodding to th people. One photographer got close and Kai pulled Tala toward him, their lips meeting in a thick kiss.
The reporters and photographers gasped, snapping photo after photo of the kissing pair. They pulled apart and Tala smirked, leaning his head onto Kai’s shoulder and holding back a burst of laughter that was threatening to erupt. One reporter got into Kai’s face, her microphone up to his mouth.
“How long have you two been seeing one another?” she asked.
“Long enough,” Tala answered.
“How can I resist this sweet ass,” Kai said, pulling Tala in again for a more passionate kiss.
Photo’s snapped more and more and the reporters got closer, asking more and more questions.
“Do the other teams know?”
“Do you two plan on getting married?”
“Is this why you and Ray broke up?”
At that question Kai broke into silent laughter. He and Ray... dating... that was a laugh. He definitely would choose Tala over the cat any day. Kai turned to the reporter and smirked at her.
“Me and Ray never dated. I’ve been with Tala long enough to know he could take him on any day. Besides, why would I want a cat boy when I can have a rough and tough wolf,” Kai answered smoothly.
“How sweet of you,” Tala whispered into Kai’s ear.
The pictures went on and so did the questions. Brian and Spencer spoke freely with many photographers and got asked many disturbing questions about their sexuality and relationship with one another. Kai and Tala stayed silent from the questions, but whenever a photographer came near, they began a huge make-out session that ended in thousands of photo’s and more questions about their relationship together.
“Hey Kai...”
Tala turned around and saw Max bouncing toward them, Rick, Michael, Eddie and Emily following close behind him. Kai also turned, releasing Tala’s hand as the bubbly blonde bounded up to him. He stopped and smiled at Tala, offering his hand, which Tala shook gently.
“Good to see you,” Max said cheerfully. “How you doing Kai?”
“Good enough,” Kai answered. “Where are the others?”
“Well Ray and White Tiger X aren’t expected until the afternoon and I believe Tyson and the others are already here,” Max answered.
“Come on Max, let’s get our room and sleep. I’m beat,” Rick yelled over the crowd.
“Okay, give me a minute,” Max yelled back. “The Majestics are coming and so is Barthez Battalion. Raul and Julia will be coming tomorrow in the morning and BEGA might come depending on if they can get away from training.”
Kai nodded, but Tala looked at Max more with a surprised look.
“How do you know all this?” he asked.
“My mom. She and Mr. Dickinson were the two who organized this reunion,” Max answered.
“Max, let’s go,” Michael grumbled. “We want to get into the hotel so we can swim.
“Okay. I guess I’ll see you guys at the dinner,” Max said, bounding away. “Bye.”
Kai looked at Tala and smiled, pictures and reporters still asking questions. They turned toward the hotel and started walking, hands laced once more for the camera. They walked silently together, knowing it was going to be a long reunion... Scratch that, a VERY long reunion.
