Dark cure

chapter five: second in command means...

It had been around ten days since Gohan parted with the group of youkais when they finally arrived to a castle. The monk-like demon informed him that this was Yusuke's home or one of his homes because he stayed a lot in Ningenkai. "You're going to be publically introduced today. You need to be cleaned. Follow me, I'll guide you." The demi-saiyan looked at the rest of the group for a moment and then followed the monk into some room of the castle "here there is a little cascade that goes through the rock and there are some new clothes and towels in the cupboard. There's also a mirror. Take the time you need" he explained and left the warrior on his one. Gohan put himself under the cascade and let the water take away the dust and the dirtiness getting a wonderful feeling as he cleaned himself, hair included. When he thought it was enough, he got out of the cascade and went to the cupboard getting the towel and starting to dry himself and, while doing so he accidentally looked at the mirror. He hadn't noticed changing that much. He was a lot taller.His face was quite different, less round features, sharper eyes and with a longer hair; posibly even longer than it was before going to planet Namek. It was going to be a mess if he had to fight but he didn't want to cut it down. Instead he ripped a bit his old cloths, making a hair holder and combed it into a pigtail. Afterwards he put himself into some clothes. Yusuke seemed to have a similar taste to his, all the clothes being gis or quite simple designed and comfortable t-shirts and trousers. He picked some of them randomly and dressed, hurrying himself into the balcony of the castle were he was to be introduced. He arrived at the last moment.
" ...and the decision of our king is to choose Gohan" Then Gohan appeared looking questionly at one side and another 'what am I supposed to do? Give a speech?' he palled. "Well...mm...that's it all already...mm...said. I'm going to be the second in command here and...mm" "Our king has had the brillant idea of chosing some not very known but trustable and very close to his fighting level" the monk helped and began and speech of his own Gohan merely making some comments or nodding at some points.

Kurama and Hiei stayed in the crowd listening carefully. "Hiei you're transfixed" stated the fox with a funny tone "I'm not!" he said trying to tear apart his eyes from the body or now neatly clean saiyajin. "Well you should" he whistled "If I had a kingdom I'd acept him just for how hot he is" Hiei blushed at that shameless display "Stop ogling him" he said before muttering something that sounded as a curse about kitsunes and kitsunes' appetites. "I bet kitsunes are not the only ones that would be attracted by such a gorgeous piece of meat" he replied. Then the monk finnished and Yusuke took the word "Well, after this,...errm too long explanation I'm going ok? Just any fuss disturbe first Gohan than me" he informed making Gohan smile. This days of travel had permitted him getting to know better to the demons and he had noticed that Yusuke was quite an accomplished creature even if he seemed to take an special pleasure being as rude as possible. Kurama had also proven to be different from his first impression. He had considered him polite and gentle but after the attack they had in their way here he knew that was just a façade, his really nature could be terrific. 'So much like me...' As for Hiei, the demon was an enigma. He wasn't specially rude but he was quite harsh. He was also proud and distrustful. He was so much like Vegeta...and he wasn't. Because sometimes the demon would say some gentle words or care about some emotion only for reverting to his previous actitude the next second. In Gohan's mind he was like a very complicated puzzle with a lot of pieces. "Bye, guys" said Yusuke leaving through a portal. Then Gohan realised he knew little about the functions of the second in command. 'Instead of thinking about all that I should've questioned him' When they went inside he tried asking the monk. "Listen..." "Ah Gohan I was supposing you were going to have some doubts since Yusuke-sama didn't explain anything" "Why was he so impatient?" "He has a girlfriend in Ningenkai. By the way, what matters is that now you represent our kingdom. As nobody from here won the last tournament, the most inmediate function will be patrolling the Makai in search of lost humans that need to be returned to Ningenkai. In some cases it's possibly that some demons hunt them and you'll have to protect them.Demons take turns at patrolling different zones. Check yours. As for the other functions... a very important one is diplomacy with the other kingdoms mainly by relating with the others second in command." "Aa that'll be fine. At least I already know them" 'and trust them' he added in his thoughts. He was no longer naïve but he wasn't distrustful. Both Kurama and Hiei seemed honorable. He went down the castle finding them in the middle of some discussion. He believed they were close friends, Hiei always having longer conversations with Kurama than with the rest and Kurama always seeming more amused by the spiky-haired than by anybody else. "congratulations" said the red-haired when he saw him "Ee...thanks. I come to say good bye since by what I heard in the trip it seems that you're not going to stay." "That's right. I need to go to Ningenkai too and Hiei is required at Mukuro's" "I suppose I may see you when we patrol Makai" "Yes, probably" Kurama agreed "Good bye" "Hn" snorted the short demon and then in a quick movement they were both gone. 'I think this is not so different from what I used to do on Earth' Gohan reasoned not knowing wether it was bad...or good.
