In Preparation
Heero chewed his food slowly, thinking about whether Duo had anything to eat or not. But, he knew that he needed strength, so he continued eating. He was no use to Duo if he wasn't running at full capactiy. He decided to clear his mind and just think about preparing. Now, the only thoughts he needed to have were about eating his supper.
Trowa looked over at Heero, seeing him start to gulp down his food. "In a bit of a hurry there Heero?" Trowa asked, a little concerned.
"I gotta have time for a power nap. I need to be at my fullest for this mission. If I am not, lives could be in danger," Heero explained.
"A power nap does not sound like a bad idea," Trowa commented, quickly finishing his food.
Heero smiled dryly, looking upon his empty plate. The food just didn't satisfy him like the thought it would. It wouldn't until he had Duo back at his side. As his battle buddy, telling Duo that he loved him would be another battle. Although, he would be completely happy just to see Duo's face again.
"I think we should call Ming and find out a place to sleep. It's 18:20 now, so, we should have a good hour to sleep."
"We can just go sleep in the lobby on the first floor. Let's not trouble anyone. They have plenty of chairs, plus we have slept in worse situations before," Heero suggested.
"Yeah, I think that will be fine. Seeing two officers asleep in a lobby would be pretty funny, don't you think?" Trowa asked.
"Whatever, I just need a quick nap. I will set the alarm on my phone to wake us up."
They headed toward the elevator, taking them down a few floors to the lobby on the first floor. They didn't care who they bothered or upset, or what kind of image they presented. Sitting down, they both drifted off to sleep.
About two hours later, Heero's cell phone went off playing a really sappy love song. Heero awoke with a start, and he woke Trowa, who was snoring away. "Wake up, Trowa!" Heero commanded. "It's 20:20, we gotta head to the armory."
"I don't wanna get up, Quatre," Trowa said, "I want to stay in bed with you."
Feeling a little weird now, Heero tried waking him again, this time with a little more 'umph'. "Trowa Barton, wake up immeadiately!" Heero boomed. Still nothing. He picked Trowa up, and decided to carry him there, since he would not wake up. He would wake him up in there. He sure would.
He walked down the hallway to a different elevator this time. It was an elevator that required fingerprinting and a retina scan to enter. It identified him as Heero Yuy, and it opened the door. It took him down to the lowest basement level, and the elevator door opened from the opposite end. It opened to a long corridor, with a large room at the end that was barely visible. Heero squinted to see it, but it was there, it was no illusion.
He began his long walk down the corridor, lugging Trowa the whole way. He didn't have time to waste waking him up. He had to hurry and collect everything that they needed. The walk seemed like a forever, as if the corridor never ended and this was where they were going to face their final judgement. But, it was not. Heero soon arrived at the end, into the big room filled with all the weapons imagineable. Heero felt as if he had just walked into heaven.
He sat Trowa down in a chair and put some gunpowder on his fingers and held them under Trowa's nose. He awoke with a start. "It's time already?" He asked with an alertness in his voice.
"Yes," Heero said softly, "It is time. Hurry up and take what you need. They even have fresh uniforms for us!"
"Wow," Trowa said, "It's almost like we went to heaven." He looked upon all the weapons and clothing. They do have everything! "We just need to make sure we have plenty of ammunition."
"Hn," Heero said, already immersing himself into it, quicker than he gets stuck playing on his laptop. He was excited. Heero walked through the clothing part first. Stripping himself down, getting on a fresh uniform right from the shelf, and then getting body armor, and ammo pouches. He needed lots of ammo pouches. He made sure to get plenty, and then he outfitted himself, smiling as he did so. He was getting closer to seeing Duo again. That made him happier than ever. He grabbed a kevlar helmet from the shelf and held it in his hand as he went on to boots. He got some that were his size and put them on. He enjoyed the feeling of new boots. He smiled a large smile as he went on to the weapons.
He picked out a few sensor bombs and placed them in the pockets for them on his belt. He went on and grabbed an M-16A2, his favorite rifle of choice, then he grabbed the grenade launcher attachment for it. He had his glock already, that was his pistol. Duo had given it to him, after the war, replacing his other one that had gotten damaged just before the war was over. It made it all the more special to him. He was going to shoot Duo's captors with it. One by one he would kill them all. He went and grabbed four more pistols. He was going to use them only when he ran out of ammunition for his rifle. Slim chance, but likely. He decided to grab a scope for the rifle just in case. He attached it with care.
Walking on to the ammunition, he grabbed as many shells could fit in his waist pouches for his M-16. He also filled the magazine completely full. 20 rounds. That was enough to take out plenty of people. But, they didn't know how many were going to be there. What if it was Oz? What if it was? That thought hadn't crossed his mind until just now. Oz had only a few female operatives that he knew of that could pull this off.
He then filled his pistols with rounds, then filled his glock. He filled the ammo pouches on secured to his legs with the ammo for his glock. He was done. He looked down at his watch. It took him fifteen minutes. Not bad, Heero Yuy, he said to himself, not bad at all. If only grocery shopping was this easy, he thought. He never thought a new set of weapons and a new uniform could make him feel this good inside. He grabbed a field knife too. Never know when you are going to need one, he thought. He secured it to his belt, on the spot provided for it. If needed, he could use it as a bayonet, but he was thinking like he was about to go into war. After all, he was just going to save Duo from kidnappers, not fighting a full-scale war. He did expect Duo to be heavily guarded. That was not unexpected.
"Heero," Trowa called out, "Are you done yet?"
"I am," Heero replied, realizing that he had been standing in the same spot for several minutes daydreaming.
"Well, let's get out of here, it's time to get to Ming's office for the mission briefing. You know, they might have found out who kidnapped Duo," Trowa told him.
"I think it's Oz," Heero explained. "They have female operatives and they are as skilled as Duo."
Trowa went silent. He thought to himself silently. It all made sense now. Find the weakness of the pilots and get to the Gundams. But, why didn't they just try to steal the Gundams? Then, it all clicked. This had to do with Relena Peacecraft. She loved Heero but he did not return that love. So, take the one that he loves most away, she helped her brother, Zechs Marquise. Now things seemed all too clear. They could be walking right into a trap.
