Trunks looked back to make sure Goten was ok. So far this place had been desolent. The buildings old and corroded. Stained with things Trunks didn't even want to know. So far, all Goten and him had found was a large baseball bat and a golf club. Which they had discovered at an old sports shop. They had also found a map. Goten had kept track of blocked roads, Trunks wrote down memos in a notepad he had in his pocket for plans on writing every time his parents fought.
Goten walked up next to Trunks. He seemed frightened of the surroundings. But Trunks couldn't blame him. The place was creepy. Fucked up even. Trunks looked over at the map in Goten's hands. So far they had run into 5 broken roads. But the closest building to their current location was a pet store. Trunks decided to keep going, that the pet store couldn't be anything special.
"Trunks!" Shouted Goten, his body shaking. He stared forward, through the mist.
Trunks looked up, expecting some over grown bunny. He gasped. In front of them was a huge monster. It's hands were huge knobs that had a huge bottoms. The thing walked on all fours. It had a disfigured face on a minature virsion of the leg knobs. It had on clothes but they were dirty and stained.
"Wh-what do we do?" Asked Goten. Every part of Goten was shaking, even his voice.
"Run!" Yelled Trunks as he grabbed Goten's arm. He headed towards the closest building. He could feel Goten being dragged along. And for once Trunks didn't feel whimpy for running. He honestly didn't think they could take that thing out with a gulf club and a baseball bat.
Trunks ripped the door open and shoved Goten in. Glancing back one last time to see the creature right behind them, it's arm lifted in the air. Trunks was frozen. He stared at the sickening creature. The things clothes and skin stained with what looked like blood and age. The flesh pink and nasty. The clicking noises it made.
Suddenly Trunks was yanked inside the small building. The things arm pounded into the door. Trunks fell to the floor. His heart was racing. He looked around for Goten. He didn't see him. But the realized he had fallen onto his lap when he had pulled him inside. Trunks stood up. Goten looked dazed and stared forward. Trunks knelt down towards his friend. "Are you ok?". He asked.
Goten nodded. Then took a deep breath. "I just barely got you out of there in time!"
"Sorry... I froze up."
Goten shrugged and stood up. He turned and started looking through the small store. Trunks turned towards the door. The blow and crammed it shut. There was no way they could leave through that door. Not that Trunks had any intentions of facing that thing again. Turning back towards Goten, Trunks also began to examine the store. The selves were filled with toys and bones and.... Leashes? It was that pet store!
Trunks looked up to see Goten examining the counter. Trunks walked up behind him and glanced over his shoulder. Goten had been holding a bunch of papers. Suddenly Goten turned his head. Their noses touched and Goten staredat Trunk. Goten jumped, odviously startled. He dropped all the papers onto the floor. Trunks moved. Thinking about why Goen would jump like that.
"Trunks," Started Goten, "Look at this." Goten turned towards Trunks and handed him a small receipt.
Trunks looked down at it. The thing had stuff on it about dog food and some rare kind of dog Trunks didn't really care about. But then he realized why Goten had thought it was important. On it was scribbled, in pen, the words 'We're watching you!'
Trunks looked for a date, hoping it would say many years ago and give them some sort of comfort. But the date had been scratched out. Scratched out so much that it had almost torn through the thin paper.
"What should we do?" Goten broke through Trunks' thoughts.
"Keep going." Trunks folded up the receipt and put it into the notebook.
Trunks turned towards the rest of the place. He picked up something shinny off the floor. It was some rare coin. He shoved it in his pocket. Maybe if they ever got out of here, He could sell it. Goten had continued filing through papers. Trunks saw a door behind the register. Trunks walked over to it. He really hoped it was a way out of this building. Because if someone was watching them, Trunks wanted out of there ASAP.
He wrapped his hand around the knob and pushed. It swung open easily, but led into a back room. Trunks looked at Goten, who was still holding a bunch of papers. He looked at Trunks nervously. Then set down the papers and picked up the Golfclub he had sat down on the floor. They both turned and faced the door. Trunks took the first step in.
The floor was a moth tile. It was a deep gray covered in stains of dirt and age. The room was filled with boxes and shelves. Trunks walked in farther. Goten started to shuffle through things. Obviously trying to find useful stuff. Then he pulled out a flash light.
"Yes!" Said Goten, obviously happy he found a flash light.
Trunks only rolled his eyes. A flashlight wasn't going to do much in this hell hole. Trunks suddenly found another receipt. It was tapped to a side of a metal shelf. Trunks plucked it off and looked at it close. It had more words written in pen on it. It read, 'The Butcher and the Pyramid are here today! Beware my friend.'
Trunks glanced over at Goten, who was being occupied by some pen he found. Trunks didn't want to worry Goten anymore. He shoved the note into the notepad with the other. He had no idea of what the note talked about, but he had a feeling it was bad.
