“Vegeta?”
She managed through grinding teeth. The knife, still ready for impact above her head, shook.
“It’s me.”
He held his hands up in defeat.
“It’s me, Giana.”
He could feel all of the emotions he thought he had repressed, flooding back into him. His heart pounded. He reached up, taking the knife out of her hands and tossing it away from them. She studied his face.
“Is it really you?”
Tears swelled in her eyes.
“It’s me, baby.”
He whispered.
“I’m here.”
She swung, punching him in the jaw.
“You swore you’d come for me!”
She screamed.
“Ten years, Vegeta! I’ve waited for you for ten years and you never came!”
She swung at him again.
This time he was ready for it. He caught her arm.
“Stop!”
He shouted back.
“Ana!”
Goku grabbed her attention as he ran toward her.
“Get Yamcha, please?”
She sounded desperate.
“Make sure he’s ok.”
Goku nodded before running into the wrecked hut.
“Where were you?”
She managed through the tears as they rolled down her dirt covered cheeks.
“Why didn’t you come for me?”
Vegeta fought back every emotion that flooded him. He shoved her off of him.
“Why didn’t I come for you?”
He rose to his feet, wiping the blood from his face.
“Why would I?”
He glared at her.
“You held me back! You made me weak!”
His heart pounded in his ears as he shouted at her. Every fiber of him wanted to touch her, hold her, kiss the lips that had kept his heart beating all of those years ago. Anger flushed through him.
“I am not that weak.”
He told himself.
“I am not that pathetic.”
She watched him as his eyes went cold.
“But, Vegeta… You said…”
He rolled his eyes.
“I know what I said, Giana! I lied! You seem well-traveled. You should know by now that there are a lot of liars out there. Did you think I was in love with you or something?”
He crossed his arms arrogantly.
She glanced down at her feet, embarrassed to admit that she had. She had believed that he loved her. She would have told anyone that she knew that he loved her. How could she be so stupid?
“Oh god! You did!”
He laughed at her.
“You don’t understand ‘love’, Giana. ’Love’ is what I feel when I wipe planets clean of the insects that crawl on it. ‘Love’ is the feeling I get when I shred the lives of my enemies.”
He smirked.
“You? You were a piece of ass to feed my teenage hormones. You were an easy solution to my hard cock.”
Giana couldn’t believe what she was hearing. For ten years she had searched high and low for any trace of this man and now, he was treating her like a 2-bit whore. Her heart shattered. She felt ridiculous. She had held on for so long to an image of a man that never truly existed.
Vegeta looked past her at Goku as he helped Yamcha out of the rubble. Goku shot him an angry glance as he carried his friend to safety. He could feel her eyes watching him.
“What?”
He glared at her.
She was silent. She didn’t know what to say. He had successfully made her feel two inches tall. She was embarrassed and broken. She had put her entire life into him only to find that he never truly cared at all.
“What have you done, Vegeta?”
Krillin shouted as he kneeled next to Yamcha.
Ana shook as Piccolo grabbed her by the arm.
“Let’s get you cleaned up.”
He looked at her with soft eyes.
Vegeta smirked at her as Piccolo pulled her away from him.
“You just made a huge mistake.”
Piccolo growled as he passed Vegeta.
He rolled his eyes, still standing back, admiring his work.
Giana kneeled down next to Yamcha. Vegeta watched as she ran her fingers over the loser’s hair. He cringed as she kissed his forehead.
“Are you alright?”
She sniffed as blood still dripped from her nose.
“I’m ok.”
He managed, gruffly.
“I’ll be alright.”
His shaky hand reached up and brushed the blood from her nose.
“You look like hell.”
He smiled.
She couldn’t help but smile at him as she nuzzled her cheek into his hand.
“He will be fine.”
Goku touched her shoulder.
“Let’s get you two back to Capsule Corp.”
He glared back at Vegeta.
“I’ll deal with you later.”

Vegeta watched the group as they disappeared beyond the mountains. As soon as he was sure they were gone, his emotions overwhelmed him. He fell to his knees, clutching his chest. Tears formed in his dark onyx eyes. He punched the ground.
“No!”
He shouted.
“I will not give in! I will not be weak! I do not love her!”
He rested his head to the ground and closed his eyes. He pounded the ground as he fought back everything but his anger and frustration. His heart ached as her imaged flashed through his mind like a picture book. She was just as perfect as he remembered. She was lean and strong. Her green eyes still sparkled when she looked at him. Her bloodied nose and lip, crushed him.
“How could I do that to her?”
He groaned against the dirt.
“No, dammit! I refuse to feel sympathy for that stupid wench!”
Vegeta sat up, looking toward the west. Home. He screamed to the sky as he fought his own heart. It was no secret that Vegeta’s heart had become cold as ice over the last ten years.
“She would never love me like this anyway.”
He tried to convince himself.
“She is too soft for a man like me. We’ve both changed. Some for the better, and some for the worse.”

Giana patted her lip with a wet cloth. She tossed the blood covered towel into the sink. She looked at herself in the mirror in front of her.
“You’re so stupid.”
She grunted, tears still flowing down her cheeks.
“You’re such an idiot. How could you be so naïve? How could you think that you’d ever be good enough for a prince? Of course he was using you.”
She couldn’t help but shake her head at herself in the mirror.
“Disgusting.”
Yamcha tapped on the bathroom door.
“Ana? Are you ok?”
She pulled the door open. Her usual bright green eyes were dull. Her cheeks were red and lip swollen.
“I’m fine, Yamcha.”
She pushed past him and quickly made her way down the hallway and out to the back patio.
“Hey, Ana!”
Bulma shouted.
“Come sit with us!”
Giana ignored the bubbly woman and kicked off of the ground, disappearing into the sky.
“Sheesh! What’s wrong with her?”
“Don’t ask.”
Krillin sighed before taking another drink of his beer.
Yamcha slid into the seat next to Krillin.
“You ok, buddy?”
Krillin patted his friend on the back.
“I’m fine.”
He took a swig of his beer.
There was a silence in the group. They knew better. Yamcha was not “fine.” He was visibly shaken and visibly upset.
He glanced at his friends.
“She completely forgot about me when he showed up.”
“What are you talking about, Yamcha?”
Krillin squinted at him.
“She almost killed Vegeta for attacking you.”

Vegeta never turned around as a pair of boots landed on the ground behind him. He crossed his arms and stayed perched on the bolder, staring into the distance.
“What do you want, Wench?”
“Why?”
Her voice shook as tears rolled down her cheeks.
“’Why,’ what?”
He sighed.
“Why did you lie to me?”
She took a step toward him.
“I already told you. A lot of people lie to get what they want.”
He turned his nose to the sky.
“No.”
She took a deep breath.
“Why did you lie and tell me that you never loved me, Vegeta?”
His breath caught in his throat.
“I didn’t. End of discussion.”
He stood up to take off.
“Please don’t walk away from me?”
The pain in her voice caught him in mid-flight.
“After everything we have been through, I deserve an answer.”
He spun around to her.
“I never loved you!”
He screamed.
“Bullshit, Vegeta!”
She screamed back.
“You can’t tell me that you never loved me! You saved my life when Frieza destroyed our home but you didn’t love me?”
He glared at her.
“Listen to me…”
He flew to her, their noses almost touched, his chest rose with pride.
“I am not the man you remember. I am not even capable of loving anyone or anything. I am a warrior. I am a murderer. I am a destroyer. I will never be what you once knew. Never again! I was weak and pathetic. I am stronger than ever now and that is no thanks to my sentimental self.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
She shook as she spoke.
“Why did you lie to me?”
Vegeta squinted.
“You will never change will you? You could never take ‘fuck off’ as an answer.”
“I loved you, Vegeta.”
She sobbed.
“I loved you with everything I had.”
“Shut up.”
He grunted, turning away from her.
“I’ve missed you so much.”
She cried harder.
“There was never a day or moment that went by that I didn’t think about you. For ten years, Vegeta, I waited for you. I longed for the day that you would find me. I prayed for the night that we would meet again. I reeled for the moment that my lips got the chance to, once again, touch yours.”
She wiped her cheeks.
“I needed you, Vegeta. I needed you because you had my heart. It’s hard to live without your heart.”
She paused as she tried to hold herself together.
“Don’t you think I’m owed an explanation?”
Vegeta’s heart pounded in his ears as his chest ached once again. The only thing stopping his fingers from piercing through his hands were his gloves. He wanted to take it back… He wanted to take back every second he hadn’t gone to her. He wanted to do it over. He wanted to apologize, kiss her lips, and wrap her in his arms.
“No!”
He told himself.
“That’s not me, anymore!”
Giana walked toward him. She wrapped her arms around his waist like she had so long ago. She held him tight. Her green eyes darted up at him. His dark, cold stare darted back at her.
“I love you, Vegeta.”
She whispered.
She kicked into the air, climbing to face level with him. She ran her fingers through his hair sending chills down his spine. She leaned forward and placed her lips on his. Her kiss was just as gentle as he’d remember.
In that moment, the walls around his heart shattered. It felt so good to have her against him once again. His body soared. He cupped her face, kissing her back. She pressed her forehead against his, reluctantly breaking their kiss.
“What?”
He managed through a breath.
“What is it?”
“I can’t do this.”
She cried.
"I wanted this moment more than anything and now that we're here, I can't do this."
Vegeta never let her go.
“It’s that disgusting little wannabe warrior. I’ll take care of him right now!”
Anger flashed through his eyes.
"Stop."
She pressed her finger tips to his lips.
He kissed her fingers.
"Let's leave. Let's get off of this forsaken planet and find a new! Enslave the habitants and raise an empire! You'll be by my side as my princess."
She squinted as she studied him.
"You're not joking..."
"Of course not!"
He growled.
Her sad eyes studied his face.
"You're right, Vegeta."
She slowly moved his hands from her face. Her green eyes shifted to the ground at her feet.
"You have changed. The man I fell so deeply in love with would never say such things."
She turned away from him.
"Wait..."
He grabbed her hand. A familiar electric pulse shot through her. His love for her radiated through him and into her.
"Don't... Don't leave me here alone."
He managed.
"I have to go... Yamcha..."
She whispered through her tears.
"Fine!"
Vegeta screamed.
"Get the fuck out of here!"
Anger was the only way he knew how to cover up his sadness. He shoved her away from him tears running down his cheeks.
"Run back to that disgusting waste of space!"
She watched him wide-eyed.
"Vegeta..."
Vegeta shook as he fought to keep his eyes open. He glanced around. Giana's green eyes hovered over him. She gently brushed her fingers across his cheek. He almost sank into her electrifying touch as it jolted his heart back into reality.
"Wake up, Vegeta."
Her voice was soft and caring, just like her fingers that were now brushing through his hair. He leaned slightly into her palm. He felt seventeen again. He almost expected to open his eyes to her glowing face, smiling at him, in nothing but her panties and his shirt, about to beg him to take her to the riverside or ask him what he wanted for breakfast. His head spun.
She kneeled down next to him as he leaned against the large boulder, shading him from the sun.
"Hey."
She forced a smile as his cold black eyes fluttered, hardly meeting her bright green ones before closing again.
"Hey."
He could hardly make a sound. Was he still dreaming?
"Good morning."
She tried hard to wake him gently. Her face flushed as his still sleepy eyes scanned her figure.
"They're waiting for you back there."
"They can wait."
His sleepy tone made Giana smile.
"Open your eyes, Prince Vegeta. It's time to go."
She patted his muscular thigh.
"Come on."
She raised an eyebrow at him as she received no response from him.
"I'll leave you here for the bears to eat!"
Still nothing. His head leaned back against the hard surface of the boulder.
"Fine!"
She popped up to her feet.
"Get eaten. Bye!"
The gravel under her boots ground as she spun on her heel, ready to leave him there for the wilderness to consume.
"Wait."
A cold hand quickly met hers, catching her in mid-stride.
"Please don't leave me here alone."
Ana turned back to the man who, only a short time ago, seemed like a complete stranger and for the first time in ten years, she saw him. The man she had fallen so in love with so long ago. His dark onyx eyes gazed up at her making her breath catch in her chest.
"There you are."
She whispered.
Her knees hit the ground next to him.
"Are you ok? I didn't hurt you did I?"
Her concerned eyes searched his face. Vegeta shook as her thumb cleared the blood from his wrinkled eyebrow.
"I'm so sorry about earlier."
He glared at her. How could she be so kind after the things he had said? How could she care so much after making it clear that he didn't care for her at all? What was she up to? Was she an idiot?
"Ha! What a pathetic woman you are!"
Vegeta batted her hand away from his face.
"You? Hurt me?"
A taunting laugh found it's way to the surface.
"You've got to be kidding!"
He stretched as he rose to his feet. Dirt sprinkled down from his shoulders as he brushed himself off.
Giana stood, never taking her eyes off of him as she watched him transform in front of her face. The man she once knew was gone and the stranger he had become was shining through, perfectly consuming the person he truly was.
"What?"
He raised an angry eyebrow at her.
"Why are you staring at me you pathetic wench?"
Anger festered in him at her silence.
"Get out of here!"
He shoved her to the ground.
"Go!"
She jumped to her feet.
"What's wrong with you?"
She glared at him.
"Did you not hear me?"
He screamed in her face.
"Leave me alone!"
Vegeta darted into the sky, disappearing into the distance.
Giana flew after him, as fast as she could go. She was not about to let him treat her like that and run.
The ground pulsed as he landed at Capsule Corp. Yamcha, Krillin, Goku, and Bulma watched him. Purple light surrounded him as he threw his hand into the air. The tiki bar at the end of the patio exploded.
"She found him."
Krillin watched Vegeta as he stomped up the patio's path.
"I'm guessing it didn't go well."
Yamcha ran his fingers through his hair.
"Good news for you, huh Yamcha?"
Krillin smiled at his friend, always trying to make a joke.
Bulma ran toward him, her usual bubbly self.
"Hey! You're going to replace that, Buster!"
She stopped in front of him.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you!"
She put her hands on her hips.
In one swift movement, Vegeta clenched the woman's throat and slammed her against the metal wall of the house. His eyes were on fire. His body shook.
"Get out of my fucking way."
"Vegeta!"
Giana caught his attention.
He dropped the blue haired woman. She quickly crawled back to the table with her friends.
"Do not run from me, Vegeta! What is wrong with you? Why won’t you talk to me? This isn't over!"
"It's over because I say it's over!"
Vegeta shouted at her.
"That's not how it works!"
She darted in front of him.
"Why do you keep doing this?"
She glared at him.
"Doing what?"
He growled at her.
"One minute, you're Vegeta, the Vegeta I remember and the next you treat me like dirt! What did I ever do to you? What is wrong with you?"
Her green eyes pierced through him.
He didn't know how to answer her. He knew the answer but didn't dare admit it, especially not in front of the Z fighters. He didn't dare tell her that it killed him inside to watch her tend to Yamcha the way she did. He would never admit the guilt that overcame him when he learned that she was still alive. He could never admit to the wanting of nothing more than to hold her when he had first laid eyes on her. He wanted to kiss her now, as she glared at him, her body shaking out of sheer frustration. She had always been so beautiful when she was angry. He used to conjure arguments with her just to see her nose wrinkle in a way it only did when she was mad. He couldn't admit that, no matter how cold he swore he was, she warmed him. She melted the icy walls that surrounded his dark heart. He refused to let the others see him in a moment of weakness. He refused to let himself seem pathetic. He stomped toward her. Her body shivered as his eyes locked with hers.
"You want to know how I really feel about you?"
He grunted, still coming toward her. He glanced at Goku, making sure he was paying attention. Heat filled the palm of his hand.
"Want to know exactly what it's been like without you? Do you really want to know what I think of you now?"
He raised his palm toward her.
"Vegeta! No!"
The Z fighters sprung from their seats, darting toward him.
"Galick Gun!"
Vegeta screamed as the bright light flashed through the air toward her.
Goku grabbed his arm but it was too late.
Yamcha tackled her to the ground as their surroundings pulsed before shattering into a million pieces.
