The Forbidden
Chapter 5.
A/N; Oh my has it really been this
long since I updated? I am very sorry for that. But I have a legitimate reason
for the lack of updates, you se my old laptop crashed and so I had to wait to
get a new one, when I finally got a new one I needed to revise and retype a lot
of chapters for both this fiction and Mysterious which can be found at ff.net. So
again, I am truly sorry, but I hope you will like this update!
For disclaimer and summary look at
the prologue chapter of this fiction please.
“Mr Kinomiya! We have found
something huge!”, a blond haired woman of average height burst into the
evacuation tent flailing her arms widely.
“You have to come see this! It’s
like we found an ancient city of some sorts. It’s truly magnificent and….Mr
Kinomiya?”
The woman worriedly glanced at the
tall man who was seated behind a makeshift desk; it seemed he was looking at
something. Then the voice of a news announcer reached her ears and she
understood why he wasn’t paying attention to her. He was too engrossed in
watching the news.
“Kinomiya Takao hasn’t been found
yet. No matter how hard they try, Voltaire and his cronies can’t pinpoint his
exact location; they say that they have gathered evidence of the boy still
being alive though. We all keep our fingers crossed that Takao-san will be
save. The hunt is still very much on and more killings reach the news everyday.
It’s such a shame to loose so many innocent lives in this seemingly never
ending game of cat and mouse. Just how long will we be able to…”, Kinomiya-san
turned the little portable TV off and let out a sigh. Takao, his son, had been
missing for weeks now. He hoped he was somewhere save. He wished he could go
looking for him but he couldn’t. One it was too dangerous, he would endanger
Takao only more if he did and two he couldn't be missed here. He frowned
thoughtfully, a pained expression on his face as he thought back to the day
when he went back to Bay-city to give his father and oldest son a proper
funeral.
“Kinomiya-san?”
He looked up and stared at the blond
woman in front of him who was fidgeting slightly.
“Did you need something Loki-san?”
he inquired lightly.
“Uhm well, would you please step
outside with me sir, we have found something huge and we want you to see it”,
she said softly but stern with a slight smile on her face.
“I will be right there”,
Kinomiya-san answered. He watched her walk out of the tent and stood up,
stretching his muscles he let out a small wistful sigh.
“I hope you’re alright my son...”
Hiromi frowned in disgust as she
held her nose. The stench was really something else. She glanced at Kyouyu who
sat next to her with the similar expression on his face. They both watched Max,
who sat in the front seat next to the driver that was so kind to take them
along till they reached Mutan, a small fisher’s village up north.
“How can he sit next to that man
without even cringing?”, Kyouyu asked no one in particular as he watched Max
who was chatting with the driver.
“Oh no, it’s not that hard really,
you just skin 'er right off and then cut them guts out with one swift movement
of your wrist and that’s that little man! I can teach ya when we arrive in
Mutan!”
“Wicked!”, Max exclaimed.
Hiromi shook her head and turned to
look out of the window trying to ignore the heavy smell of rotten fish guts
along the way.
A small smile came to her face. They
had been travelling for quite a while now. They’ve had numerous rides with
different strangers, some even stranger then others. She had seen so much
underway, she never thought she would see this much of her country. They had
been offered places to crash sometimes and other times they just walked until
they found a suitable spot to set up camp.
“This has been really nice so far,
hasn’t it Kyouyu?” she asked turning to the slightly green looking teen next to
her.
He nodded, “Yes I didn’t expect for
things to go this smooth to be honest, it’s a relieve really.”
Hiromi gave him a small smile and
looked out of the window again, really hoping that they would arrive at their
destination soon, she was getting sick of the horrible smell. Max turned around
and looked at his two friends who were slightly green in the face.
He chuckled to himself and continued
his conversation with their driver.
“Well how does it look?”, Takao
turned around to see that Rei was talking to him. He stood up and took the fake
ID from his outstretched hands. He gasped in surprise and if not a little
shocked. It looked so real!
“Wow this is really well done!”, he
said smiling.
“Why thank you, young Sky”, an elderly
man said walking up to the boys. Rei bowed respectfully with a slight smile.
Takao frowned slightly; he still
needed to get used to be called Sky instead of Takao. Since a few weeks he and
Kai had arrived at their destination. They decided to stay for a little while
so that Kai could plan his mission further and to rest up and arrange stuff for
Takao.
“Why the frown young one?”, Xing Chino
questioned.
Takao smiled slightly as he
answered; “It’s nothing Xing-Sensei, it’s just that I am not used to be called
that just yet.”
“We can never be too careful; you
might never know who might be listening in. The name suits you well Takao-san,
you should try and get accustomed to it. Phoenix
choose wisely for you”
Takao felt a blush creep upon his
cheeks with the mention of Kai’s codename.
“Yes Xing-Sensei I understand.”
Rei grinned slapping him on the
back, “Speaking of Phoenix, where is he hanging out this time?”
“I believe he is inside Rei-san”, Master
Xing said before walking to the small gardens to feed the koi-fish.
“Let’s go find the grumpy bastard
shall we?”, Rei joked smiling widely so that his fangs were showing. The first
time Takao had seen him do that he’d almost jumped up in fright. It was kind of
scary to see those long fangs of the Chinese boy.
He followed Rei over the sandy path
that led to a dojo, it reminded him of his family’s dojo only slightly smaller.
It brought a sad frown upon his face. Rei noticed this but said nothing.
He’d heard about what happened to
the teen’s family and could only imagine how he must feel seeing the old and
slightly rundown building that doomed up in front of them.
“You okay?”, came a soft but firm
voice. Takao looked up blushing slightly, Kai was standing in the door opening with
his arms crossed over his chest.
“I’m fine!”, Takao said hastily planting
a huge smile on his face. Kai however didn’t buy the act and turned to Rei.
“I’ll be taking Sky with me into the
woods for a little bit okay, we’ll be back in like an hour or so”
“Sure but don’t expect me to finish
your chores for you again! I’ve done that long enough since you were gone! “,
Rei joked as he turned to leave the two teens to themselves.
“Wiseass”, Kai smirked before turning
around and walking away.
“Follow me Sky”, was all he said as
he rounded a corner on the sandy path.
Takao, curious as he was, followed
the young adult wondering where he would lead him.
Hiromi and Kyouyu were sprawled out
on their backs on the soft sand of Mutan
Beach. It was getting
late in the evening and the sun was already setting.
When they had arrived in Mutan, the
driver had offered them a place to stay at his home but they kindly refused,
well Hiromi and Kyouyu had, Max had only protested until he saw the long
stretch of beach and sea.
“Ah this is the life!”, Hiromi
chuckled as she sat up.
“This is highly enjoyable yes",
Kyouyu agreed stretching some more.
“Hey guys! I caught us dinner!”, Max
exclaimed as he came running towards them waving something in his hand. It was
a net with several small fish in it.
" How nice", Kyouyu said
with a frown as Max laid down the net in front of his friends. Sitting on his
knees, he grabbed a small sharp knife from the back pocket of his shorts and
started to clean the fish from their guts one by one in the way their driver had
teached him earlier.
"Ugh Max! That is soo gross,
can't you do that elsewhere?", Hiromi said gagging and turning slightly
green at the fish guts that lay on the sand.
"Nope, you see, now you can
directly put them in the pan and place them on the fire!", Max said
handing a cleaned fish to her. Hiromi shivered when her skin made contact with
the slimy outer skin of the fish.
"Ewe no you put them in the
pan, I’m not touching that again!"
Kyouyu and Max shared a look and
chuckled.
"You know Hiromi, you should
try and get used to the *wildlife* now that we're on our own with no parents,
no kitchen and no sanitary goods", Kyouyu joked taking the fish from Max's
hand putting it in the pan above the small campfire he just started up.
"Yeah well give me some
time!", Hiromi protested as she took three plastic plates from Max' bag. They
re-used the plates every time and they were really handy.
When the fish was cooked they took
their plates to the edge of the water and sat down with their feet in the
water.
"The fish is good". Kyouyu
said
"Yeah it tastes extra good for
me cuz I caught 'em alright!", Max exclaimed.
"You’re already beginning to
sound like that man", Hiromi chuckles.
"You can say what you want, but
he was pretty nice"
Kyouyu chuckled as he listened to hi
friend's banter. He set his empty plate aside and took his laptop from his bag.
He was very happy that he still had that extra battery with him, because he
wouldn't know what to do without his computer.
"Guys we should drop by an
internet cafe or something so I can recharge this empty battery cache in time",
he said switching the empty one with the full one.
"Sure", Hiromi said taking
all their empty plates and washing them in the salt sea water.
Kyouyu booted his computer and
looked at the map to see their current location and where they should head
next.
"Where are we heading
next?", Max asked curiously.
"Well from here on we should
take highway 45 to Mirai and from there we can go further up north to Kento. Then
we have to figure out how to get to Sinai because it’s a really small village
up north and not reachable through a highway or such. It’s surrounded by
woods"
"Well lets just tackle the road
to Mirai first!", Hiromi said cheerful.
"Yeah I was thinking we could
take a bus to the buss stop that is alongside highway 45, there is a trucker
stop there, and I might be able to recharge my empty battery there."
"By bus? But do we have enough
money for that, I know for a fact that I didn’t bring much", Max frowned
worriedly.
"Oh don't worry about money, we
wont need it", Kyouyu said secretly, "come on let’s set up the tent
and catch some sleep"
Max and Hiromi looked at each other
questionably
"What is he up too?", they said simultaneously.
Takao's breath caught in his throat
at the magnificent sight in front of him. He followed Kai all the way into the
woods till they reached this small open clearing.
Several types of colourful flowers
swayed softly in the evening breeze, the sun was setting, basking the sky in
reds and oranges with a blue swirl here and there, some stars were already out
and the moon could also be seen though not clearly yet.
And in the midst of all that was a
beautiful lake. The water was so clear that it sparkled and you could see the
bottom of the lake and the several fish that swum in it.
"Well?". Kai said with a
knowing grin on his face. This place was beautiful, it was his favourite place
in the world, and it had been since he first moved in with Xing Chino and Rei.
"It's.............very
serene", Takao said in awe.
"It is...I used to come here
when I was troubled, this place really soothed me back then and still calms me
down", Kai said sitting on one of the large stones that surrounded the
lake. "I figured it might do the trick for you as well"
Takao started at him for a moment.
"Aren’t you going to join me ,
the view from this rock is even more magnificent", Kai said matter of
factly.
"Yeah sure okay", Takao
stammered as he sat down next to Kai. His eyes took in his surroundings once
more as a soft sigh escaped from his lips.
"Feeling a little
better?", Kai whispered softly next to his ear startling him.
"Huh I wasn’t feeling bad or anything",
Takao said hastily grinning widely.
"Don’t do that", Kai said
serious taking Takao's chin in his hands.
"D..Do wheat?", Takao
blushed at Kai's closeness.
"Hide behind that mask of cheeriness,
it's alright to feel down once in a while, especially for you, you've been
through a lot in just a matter of days."
Takao swallowed thickly" I'm
not.................hiding", he stammered looking to the ground.
"You’re a terrible liar",
Kai said turning his gaze back to the lake. The sky had darkened again and the
moon was now clearly visible, its reflection sparkled in the water.
"I used to do
that....................hide between a mask that is. But not a cheery one like
you do. It was more of a cold aloof kind of mask. But Master Xing taught me how
to cope with my emotions and I must say it's a lot better to just get it out
then bottling it all up and hiding from yourself", Kai said softly.
Takao was shocked to hear such a
truthful and somewhat hesitant confession of the young adult.
"Why are you telling me
that?", he asked
"Because I want you to do the
same, let it out. don't hold it in , it's no use, you’ll just save it up and
then it will come out ten times worse then you feel now"
Takao sighed and looked away.
It was silent for a while after
that.
Kai laid back on the flat surface of
the rock they were sitting on and closed his eyes for a moment.
"It's just that...", Came
Takao's soft voice suddenly which made Kai open his eyes again.
Takao was sitting up still but had
his back turned towards the young adult. Kai could see him shiver visibly.
"This place................it
reminds me of...them, you know. My grandpa, he was so proud of his dojo."
Takao chuckled for a moment" I remember I always used to run away from him
when it was time for my kendo lesson. My grandpa was a teacher in that sport.
He had a lot of students. My grandpa was a kind man and loved by many and I
miss him so much", Takao buried his face in his hands.
"And I feel so bad because I couldn’t
be there on his funeral and because I couldn’t save him and my brother."
Takao reached in his shirt and
fingered the blue pendant his grandpa had given him in his last living moments.
Tears streaked his cheeks , he wanted to stop them but he couldn't.
Suddenly a pair of strong warm arms
wrapped themselves around his shivering form.
Kai nuzzled his neck affectionately
as he rubbed the teen’s upper arms softly.
"Tch here I go again, bawling
my eyes out a second time in your presence, I'm supposed to be strong, boys
don't cry, that's what my brother used to say to me.", Takao said miserably.
"Ssssh, it's okay, you
shouldn't be ashamed of crying", Kai said, "Even the toughest guys on
earth cry trust me"
"Yeah well afterwards I always
feel like shit so what is the use", Takao said dejectedly.
Kai chuckled at that and hugged the
teen close to his chest.
"It's supposed to be relieving",
he said with a grin.
Takao unconsciously leaned back in
Kai's body warmth, now he realised how cold he was and how close Kai exactly
was. Kai was seated behind of him, his legs on either side of him and his chest
was pressed in Takao's back.
Takao felt the familiar heat of a
blush rise to his cheeks once more.
"Ah there it is, I was waiting
for that", Kai joked.
"Shut up!", Takao said
blushing even brighter.
"Shutting", Kai grinned as
he gently grabbed Takao's chin and turned his face so he faced him sideways.
Takao felt his heart pound in his
chest. Was Kai going to kiss him? They hadn't kissed again since that faithful night when he had changed his appearance. His
pulse sped up in anticipation and he swallowed nervously as he watched Kai's
eyes flutter closed.
The minute Kai's soft mouth touched
his, Takao felt as if he were on fire. He closed his eyes and hesitantly kissed
back, pressing his mouth into Kai's.
Kai deepened the gentle kiss and
caressed Takao's cheek lovingly. He'd been waiting to kiss the teen gain and
now that he was, he couldn't get enough of it.
Takao sighed into the kiss as his
arm snaked upwards to tangle his fingers in the short silken strands of yet
black hair in Kai's neck. He felt Kai's fingers entwine with the fingers on his
other hand as the kiss deepened even more.
"Hmm"
Neither knew exactly who made the
little sound but they didn’t care about that, they were so intensely concentrating
on each other and their passionate and intimate kiss that they didn't see Rei
coming out of the woods into the clearing.
Rei chuckled softly to himself, he had
suspected something was up with Kai and his younger companion, ,his sensed were
never wrong and now here was the living proof.
"I swear, if I wasn’t wearing
my uber-comfertable thick sweater, the heat of that kiss you guys are sharing
would definitely be enough to even keep me warm!", he said deviously.
Takao and Kai broke the kiss hastily
blushing bright red.
"HAH finally! I get to see you
blushing as red as me!", Takao said in triumph.
Kai glared at him and then turned to
face Rei.
"Why the interruption cat,
can't you see I was a little busy here?
"Maybe you were so busy, no
wait skip the maybe, that you didn’t notice the time? You've been gone far longer
then you said you would. Master Xing send me to look for you", Rei said
not in the least frightened of Kai's heated glare on him, he was used to it by
now.
"Hn", Kai sat getting up from
the rock and walking over to Rei and Takao who had already gotten up.
"Let's just go", he said
"Right behind ya!", Rei
said cheerful., then he turned to Takao., "You're still blushing you k
now"
"Shut up Rei!", Takao said
irked, he hated his unique ability of blushing right about now.
"Tomato head would've been a
better codename for you!", Rei teased mercilessly.
"No it wouldn't
..............Kai! Help me here will you!", Takao said grinning.
Kai smirked evilly before bending slightly
towards Takao, he flicked his tongue over the boys’ earlobe for a second before
walking ahead of the two younger men.
"I happen to Agree with Rei,
maybe we should change that codename to tomato head............Tomato head",
he said before jogging off to the rundown dojo that came in view.
Takao felt his whole face heat up
right from his cheeks to the tips of his ears.
"Aahahahahahaha oh my god,
priceless!", Rei said doubling over in laughter
"You just wait!", Takao fumed
before chasing after both Rei and Kai, despite everything a tiny smile was
settling on his super red face.
Everything would turn out for the best eventually, he was sure of it.
END of this chapter, oh god it turned out very differently then the one in
my notebook, but now I happen to like it somewhat, this chap was a necessary
chapter. Hope you .liked still and still read this story, the next update won’t
