Chapter six: a proposal

Gohan got up and dressed quickly: today was going to be spend the day patrolling the Makai. He checked the zone he needed to go and, after making some questions about its localization he parted. Unlike Mukuro, Yusuke didn't have a mobile fortress so he had just to run through the Makai. He run and run until he felt a weak ki. It was some kilometers away inside the area he had to control that week. He sped up and arrived there finding an old human unconscious. She probably had fainted from the schock of finding herself in Makai, according to 'the monk', as he had come to name him, it happened often. He didn't blame her, this world far too strange for somebody who used to live in a similar way to the typical Earthlings he had know...He suddenly realiased that he wasn't the only one who saw the lady. A horned demon was moving towards her with no good intentions. Gohan sent it a weak ki blast and the beast retracted. He then took the lady but more beasts similar to the first came. He ki-blasted them trying not to hurt them more than necessary. Still, the beasts, seemed not to had enough as they keep trying getting near the lady. He shake controlling himself, he didn't want to revert into some kind of killer, his aim was just protecting the lady. However, it seemed that that was not enough, that these creatures will only stop his annoying habits if dead. 'I refuse to kill them' he thought. Then all happened so quickly that human eyes would never have seen it. Hiei entered the scene killing the beast with his sword in less than a heartbeat. "Why had you done this?" he question angrily "Why hadn't you?" "I...there's no need to hurt somebody unnecesarily" he stated shivering. When all the demons were nearing him there had been something in his chest telling him to hit them and attack them -a strong saiyajin claim- but he had managed not to listen and this instead of making him happy had made him feel repressed. Hiei shook his head, he will never understand this boy. He obviously had near as much power as him or even more but he just behaved like a weakling. "This are low-class demons, they don't think." he stated "Oh" was all Gohan could reply. "How is it that you're in this area?" "returning from mine" he answered. 'So this was the reason all this weak energies were disappearing a few meters ahead. Was it even needed? Why has he to be the only other second in command staying here? Why can't Kurama be here more often or Yusuke?' he thought. " Mukuro wishes that we patrol together." Hiei spat at a confused Gohan "Sure? I mean probably it will be good to take advantage of the mobile fortress but we had always patrol separetely. Besides, I'm under Yusuke's command not hers" "call it diplomacy" he said with desdain obviously he also thought it was not a good idea. "I need some time to think it over. I'll give you an answer tomorrow" he said and then he was gone and Hiei realiased he hadn't had time to explain him where they were going to meet in case he agreed. Well the fool will locate him.

Gohan arrived at Yusuke's castle and explained to 'the monk' the bizarre proposal. " I think Mukuro has had a very good idea. You should accept" "Why?!" "Well until now this kingdom diplomacy was a bit one-sided. Quite focused on Yomi because is the strongest and potencially more conflictive. But is not good to neglect Mukuro. She might get pissed because of it or become resentful." "And I guess this is not a good thing" Gohan sighed "fine, I'll accept"

The saiyajin runned and flied through the Makai, wishing he knew IT. Hiei's ki was quite far from the castle. He finnally arrived to the mobile fortress "Hiei I accept" he said to a non-surprised demon. The fire apparition couldn't think of him choosing anything else, since he was always diplomatic when it came to the relationships between kingdoms. Not that it made him feel much better about it. The other's strange energy always driving him mad with the odd sensations it provoked. For this reason he had always tried to patrol far away from him. No longer an option. "Just two weeks" he said more to himself than to inform Gohan. "Ok" agreed the saiyajin. He entered the fortress with Hiei and was guided to Mukuro's presence. "Welcome Gohan" the demoness said "Surely Hiei has explained you everything" "Yes, I have no problems if it's as he said for a limited time" "Yes, Gohan. I don't forget who you belong to." she replied amused at the other's nerve to question her judgements at that degree. 'He seems to be an interesting being I expect that in this two weeks I can discover more things about him. Hiei told me his energy was special and I can feel that he was right' he thought feeling the contained waves of pure lust for fight. Of course, the beings in the Makai tended to have strong urges when it came to fight...at least some of them. But it was the first time she had ever feel that so clearly and strongly in someone's aura. "You may go" she said. Hiei made a gesture for Gohan to follow him. As Mukuro he thought the boy had some nerve. He had been diplomatic in a different way than that of the fox. Kurama was more of biting his tongue at inappropiate remarks and making his point in a subtle way so the other agreed with his purposes even without knowing which they were. Gohan stated his conditions carefully but plainly and simply and it was more dangerous. Specially with somebody like Mukuro. And how could it be that he had all this nerve at diplomatics and almost sinked at fighting situations? Something was not right, not balanced. 'I will find out what's on your mind, Gohan' he thought
