Vegeta sighed for the umpteenth time today. Not only did he have to suffer through the dull conversation of the plans for the ceremony, but he also had to put up with his fiancé’s stares of desire and grins of evil intentions. This little act was getting dull. How much longer was the bastard going to gloat? What was there to gloat about anyway? He wasn’t going to become leader of the clan, like he thought he was, but only to have his father’s teachings passed down to him. If it were him, he’d be royally pissed. Maybe he was going to unleash all of his fury on him as soon as they were wedded. Well, at least he had something to look forward to.
“Vegeta?” Both Lord Hokoru and Koga were staring at him with a worried expression.
Vegeta just noticed that he was being spoken to as he turned to them. “My apologies. What did you say?”
His father gave him an impatient stare. “We were telling you what robes you were going to wear.” He turned his attention to Ookami as he gave up on his explanation to his son. “Master Ookami, what do you think?”
What the hell? Ookami gets to speak his mind and not him? Vegeta growled at the lack of attention as Ookami came up with an answer. “Vegeta would look wonderful no matter what he wore.” He smiled charmingly as he laid it on thick in front of their fathers.
Vegeta couldn’t help but sneer at the comment. Was he making fun of him? “Well, that’s nice, but we need something more specific.”
“Well, he’s going to have to wear your House’s colors and the collar will have a V line so the necklaces can be exchanged.” Lord Koga explained to Lord Hokoru.
“Necklaces?” Vegeta felt a little embarrassed for asking the question, but couldn’t help his ignorance become known.
They looked back at him. “Yes. It’s tradition for both males to exchange necklaces to symbolize your bond. For instance, a ring, but it didn’t seem fit to bond both males together.”
Vegeta chanced a glance over in Ookami’s direction, who had the biggest smirk ever. “I see.” He sat back in his seat and kept his mouth shut throughout the whole meeting unless spoken to.
When the day was only half over, Vegeta grew tired of the meeting. “May I please be excused? It’s obvious that my assistance is not required.” He stood. “Master, I am more than ready to take on your mission now.”
Vegeta didn’t miss the glare from his father sent his way as he waited for his Master’s response. “Oh, Vegeta. I know the planning of the ceremony can be quite tiresome, but you must know what’s going to occur when the day comes.”
“I know that, Mas- my Lord, but I can know of the plans as soon as you make them. Since I’ll be of no help while you make them.” Vegeta placed a hand on the back of Lord Koga’s chair as he tried to talk his way out of the boring meeting…and his fiancé’s intensive stares.
Lord Hokoru was about to intervene in the conversation when Ookami beat him to it. “Father, how about I talk to Vegeta of the plans so far and tell him the rules of what’s to come. That way, when we come back, we can tell you if we came up with anything and you can tell us of anymore plans.”
Vegeta glared at him. We? His acting skills may fool everybody else, but to him, it was a lame disguise to get him alone and under this thumb. “Yes, that’s a great idea. It would be good to give you two a break and some time together before the ceremony, but don’t be gone for too long. We still have much to discuss.” Lord Hokoru responded as he waved them away. Vegeta gave his Master a shocked expression. Did he just imply…?
Ookami came over and grasped Vegeta’s hand, then proceeded to guide him out of the room. Vegeta let him touch him as he was led away from the safety of his Master and father’s gaze until they were out of view, then jerked his hand away from Ookami’s. “What’s your real plan?” He crossed his arms as he glared at the arrogant man.
Ookami turned to smirk at him, then started backing him against the wall. “Just to get you alone. Like your Father mentioned, we haven’t had any time alone since I proposed.” He looked at him with a disappointed expression.
“Like I would ever want to be alone with you, you waste of human flesh.” He yelped as he was suddenly pressed into the wall and flinched as his jaw was firmly grasped.
“You are a piece of work. It’s going to take some time for me to mold you into the loyal lover I so rightly deserve. Speaking of which, this is the perfect time to explain to you of the rules.” Vegeta sneered at the cocky tone in the noble’s voice, then groaned as his jaw was held tighter. “You will do everything I say, you will not leave the manor unless I allow it, you will constantly be at my side until I tell you to leave it.” Ookami’s gaze became more lustful as he pressed closer into the smaller body. “And your body will be mine to take whenever I please.”
Vegeta let a look of fear show for a split second before he hid it and prepared to defend himself. “You can’t treat me like I’m a slave. I have the same right to boss you around as you do me. Besides, it would be a real shame to have to tell your Father what you plan to do to his favorite assassin.” Vegeta’s air supply was suddenly cut off after he made his threat.
“Insolent whelp! I can treat you however I please! And if you tell Father such a thing, I’ll just deny it, then I’ll punish you for trying such a thing with me!” Ookami whispered harshly as he squeezed his fiancé’s throat a little harder for an instant before he let go.
Vegeta gasped as he tried to breathe in the needed oxygen, then glared threateningly at him before quickly pulling out a hidden knife and held it at Ookami’s throat. “If you ever touch me again, I’ll kill you.” With anyone else, he would’ve killed the bastard right away, but since said bastard is being married to him, all he can do is make threats. Hopefully they’re not empty ones.
Ookami smirked, not really believing that Vegeta would do that, but decided not to take any chances as he grabbed his wrist and pulled the blade away from him. Vegeta tried moving his arm against his strength, but realized it was almost impossible. The man was incredibly strong for a spoiled noble. Vegeta’s arm started to cramp with the force, then relaxed it as his arm was pinned to the wall. Ookami smirked as Vegeta’s knife fell to the floor. “You always come prepared, don’t you? I wonder though, am I going to have to do everything by force to get you to do what I want?”
It was Vegeta’s turn to smirk. “You can try.”
Ookami decided to put that to the test as he forcefully kissed the unsuspecting noble against him. He managed to slip his tongue pass stilled lips as he explored. Vegeta managed to get a hold of himself as he tried pushing against him with his free hand. The man was a brick wall, which was odd because he wasn’t that big. He whimpered in protest as a hand slipped under his robes and roamed wherever it could. Vegeta stiffened as an idea came to him. A move like this was a disgrace to all males, but at this moment, it seemed to be the only option and the best approach. His knee shot up into Ookami’s groin as he released his hold on him and fell to the floor; both hands where the pain occurred. Vegeta got a hold of himself and bent down to pick up his knife and placed it back in it’s hiding place. He watched Ookami writhe on the floor as he groaned in pain. Vegeta smiled in triumph, then straightened his clothing and proceeded back to Lord Koga’s office. He was just in time to hear them arguing.
“We will have the flowers by the altar and the statues over by the entrance.” Lord Koga explained as Lord Hokoru counter attacked.
“No, no. We will have the statues all along the isle and the flowers over by the altar and the entrance.” He pointed at a place on the layout of the garden that’s in the back of the Hara’s manor where the ceremony was going to be held.
Vegeta thought it was his time to intervene. “So, I’m guessing you two haven’t come up with anymore plans?”
The two Lords looked at him with some annoyance. “At least we decided what you two are going to wear.” Lord Koga defended as he looked around for his son. “Where’s Ookami?”
Still writhing on the floor. “He went to the restroom.” Vegeta answered calmly as he took his seat beside his Master.
“Oh. Did he come up with anymore ideas for the ceremony?” Lord Koga asked.
Vegeta narrowed his eyes when his Master practically admitted that only Ookami is allowed to have plans of his own. “Unfortunately, no. Though, he did try to go over the rules with me, but it seemed he couldn’t remember all of them.”
“Well, I’ll be happy to explain the rest to you. What all did he tell you?”
He pondered. “Well, he mentioned that I was never to leave his side and go wherever he goes.”
“Yes. That’s one of them.” Vegeta frowned at this being true and wondered if the others were as well. “You also must protect him from potential assassins and follow his orders when needed.”
Vegeta froze as his anger increased. “You mean, I have to obey every command he gives me? Like a servant?”
Lord Koga looked surprised for a moment. “Oh, no. Nothing like that. For instance, when meeting with another clan, you must listen to him when it comes to negotiating with them and listen to him when he needs support. But, when a threat occurs, that’s when he must listen to you, since that is your area of expertise.”
“Ah. I see.” Vegeta’s anger faded; glad to know that one of Ookami’s ‘rules’ was a lie. “What about when we are at…home? Must I constantly be at his side?” He hesitated at stating the manor as being his home.
“No. You are free to do as you please, but you must stay near or not be gone too long in case an intruder breaks in.”
“I understand.” Silence ensued for a moment before Lord Koga and his father continued arguing about the decorations.
An hour later, Ookami returned from endless minutes of unbearable pain. “Son. It’s about time you returned. I was beginning to wonder if you were feeling well.” Lord Koga glanced up as he saw his son entering the room.
“Yes, well, I’m better now.” He glared at his fiancé before attempting to seat himself across from his father, but changed his mind and preferred to stand.
For the rest of the day, Vegeta and Ookami spent the rest of their time glaring and smirking at one another before Lord Koga decided that was enough for the day. As Lord Hokoru and Vegeta took their leave, Lord Koga thought it better for Vegeta to stay so he can go over the mission with him before he left. Vegeta and Lord Hokoru said their goodbyes, then Vegeta stood before his Master. “The target is a samurai, red and white clothing, and a strong blade that took part in killing hundreds of people. He’s now in Edo to continue on with his killing spree. He’s very dangerous and a lot more skilled than your previous victims. You must find this man and kill him on sight.” Vegeta tensed as the description matched the very person he’s been seeing the past few nights. “You may leave when you’re ready.” Vegeta collected himself.
“If you don’t mind me asking, Master. What does this samurai have to do with the clan? There must be a greater reason other than being a threat to the community.”
“He’s taken lives of countless nobles. I don’t want him to be a threat with us. He’s also ran into some trouble with one of our allies, the Doumei (ally/alliance) clan.”
Vegeta pondered this for a moment. “The Doumei clan of Kyoto?” He paused. “So, do you think he might be targeting one of us?”
Lord Koga thought a moment before answering. “It’s possible. In any case, I want him dead before he gets the chance. Also, I’ll send five of my best assassins to accompany you.”
Vegeta never thought about that. What if the real reason why Kakarot was in Edo was to assassinate him? He could’ve made up all those stories about being chased after to make himself seem innocent. Not to mention he beat him twice. What if he’s not the target? After all, he’s had several chances to kill him whenever they met. Yes, perhaps he’s trying to get close to him so that he can kill one of the higher nobles. But why? Was it revenge? There’s only one way to find out.
He then took off his robes, revealing the black attire underneath and the dark blue and gold that symbolized the clan wrapped around the arms of his attire, and neatly folded them and gave them to a guard standing nearby. Next, he took the black mask that was hanging loosely around his neck and tied it around his nose and mouth to keep half of his identity hidden. He then took out his duel blades, used especially for this occupation, that had the black handles and were tucked before his back waistband on his robes, and twirled them around impressively before quickly putting them in their new place at his back.
“Always prepared.” Ookami muttered to himself as he watched the display with desire in his eyes.
Lord Koga looked at him with slight confusion. “I didn’t realize you were so eager to take on your mission. You must’ve been looking forward to this all day.”
Vegeta sighed and muttered to himself. “You have no idea.” He turned towards the entrance. “I’ll be back as soon as the mission is complete.”
“Vegeta…” He paused as he waited for his Master to speak. “do be careful.”
A strange sort of vengeful gleam appeared in his eyes. “I will.”
