Hands tangled in silken hair as his lover moved between his thighs, each thrust ripping heavy moans of pleasure from his throat. Strong hands gripped his hips with almost bruising force. He was on fire and hoped it would never end. Whispers of encouragement filled his ears and fueled his desire. Teeth pierces his neck and lips sucked as his lover released inside of him and it felt as if the world exploded. His back arched and he screamed in pure ecstasy.
Quatre bolted up in bed, struggling to catch his breath as his heart felt like it was trying to beat its way out of his chest. He glanced around the dark room and closed his eyes briefly before flopping back on the bed. He stared at the ceiling and raked sweat-soaked bangs from his forehead.
“What was that?”
His pajama bottoms clung to him in a sticky mess. With a groan, he dragged himself from the bed and trudged to the bathroom. He climbed in the shower and leaned his face back to let the hot water wash over him. The dream had been so vivid he could still feel the phantom touch on his skin. His middle began to stir again as he couldn't help wondering if that was what it would be like. He groaned again.
“Stop thinking about it,” he muttered to himself, trying to will the erection away. He turned the hot water off completely and shivered as the frigid cold hit his overheated skin, but it didn't do anything to ease the heat between his legs. He turned the hot water back on and trailed his hand down his torso. He wasn't usually given to self-gratification, but picturing Wufei on top of him, inside him, he couldn't seem to control himself.
He hissed through his teeth as he slid his hand over his length, imagining it was Wufei's hand and not his own. He teased at the sack beneath his erection, spreading his legs slightly and leaning his back to the wall. As he neared release, he slid his hand further down to slip a finger into his entrance.
He bit his lip as he tipped over the edge with a soft moan. After his breathing settled, he grimaced at his lack of control and finished his shower quickly. He toweled off and dressed before sitting on the toilet lid and raking his hands through his wet hair. He knew he needed to get a rein on his emotions. As much as he wanted to be the one Wufei would mate with, he wasn't sure that would happen. Wufei cared for him, after all, wouldn't that mean that he would be happy to be mated to him?
He sighed and left the bathroom, tossing his dirty pajamas into the hamper and making his way down stairs. He found Heero and Wufei in the living room. The Chinese man smiled at him and he mentally scolded his heart for speeding up.
“Everyone else still asleep?” he asked as he sat in the recliner next to the love seat where Wufei sat.
Heero nodded. “Duo went out this morning for a while and didn't get to bed till almost eleven and Trowa would sleep for a year if he could get away with it.”
“I'm not that bad,” he said quietly as he followed Quatre into the room.
Heero snorted. “Lazy cat,” he murmured fondly.
Trowa curled on the sofa next to him. “What's on the agenda for today?”
“Figuring out what we need to do next,” Wufei said softly. “Which isn't really getting us anywhere since we have no clue where to start.”
“I got an idea.”
They all looked to the doorway. Duo yawned, stretching his arms over his head. “Zechs is on his way.”
“Zechs?”
He nodded. “Yeah, some crazy stuff happened when I went to my apartment this morning. First, Zechs showed up and demanded to know why I left without word.”
Wufei's eyes narrowed. “What did you tell him?”
He scratched the back of his head. “Well, I kinda told him the truth.”
Wufei gaped. “You did what?”
“I couldn't lie to him and he wasn't taking evasion. He really wasn't happy when I told him I was leaving.”
Wufei frowned. “Why would he care?”
He flushed slightly. “We've been kinda seeing each other for the last few months. He's coming here and wants to help.”
Heero's eyebrow raised. “He believed you?”
“Not until some green man showed up with a message for Fei.”
Onyx eyes widened. “Green man? What did he look like?”
“Well, green skin, tall, he had claws for fingers and his pupils were slits... and he left through the door.” He cleared his throat. “As in, he walked through the wood, like he wasn't really there.”
Wufei closed his eyes. “He wasn't, not really. What was his message?”
“He said you needed to hurry. That, and I'm quoting, 'Chang Wufei and his pet are not the only Seer and Key'. He said there were others who have foresight, but they weren't as strong as you. And you have to hurry and find something called the Custos before the other guys do.”
He frowned. “What is that?”
“I don't know. He said you needed to find it. That it was the only way to defeat one of the four ancients.”
He ground his teeth. “So not only do I have to find them, I have to find some weapon, too?”
He pushed to his feet and paced. If the damn dragon could intercede beyond the grave, why didn't he just tell Wufei what he was supposed to do? He raked his hand through his hair. He once again felt anger rise at being in the situation in the first place. He had chosen to fight for the colonies. He didn't remember signing up to fight this enemy.
His vision doubled and he ducked his head. “Damn it.” Colors swirled in chaotic images he couldn't understand, but tried to follow anyway. Hoping that if he could just understand one thing he would be able to unlock the rest, but it was too much and frustrating. Suddenly the madness coalesced into one clear image.
He saw a man standing on a balcony. He had shoulder length brown hair and a pale, flawless face. He gazed up at a full moon as he sipped from a goblet, licking the blood from his lips with a quick swipe of his tongue. A beach lay beyond the building, gentle waves lapping at the sand. Along with the image came the knowledge that this was one of the four.
Wufei sucked in a breath as he found himself sitting on the floor, staring into wide cerulean eyes. Slim, deceptively strong fingers were gripping his shoulders, and the blond was shaking.
Quatre blinked owlishly, releasing an explosive breath as he fell forward into Wufei's chest. He felt completely drained, every muscle in his body quivering with the strain of sharing Wufei's vision.
“Are you all right?”
“Y-yeah... just... g-give me a... m-minute.”
“What happened?” Duo asked.
“A clear vision,” Wufei answered, more than a little concerned. That shouldn't have happened.
“Is he gonna be okay?”
Wufei shifted, lifting the blond from the floor and sitting on the love seat with him sideways in his lap. Quatre held a hand to his chest, the other arm lying limply in his lap. His eyes were barely slit open.
“Sorry... dunno what's wrong.”
Wufei tightened his hold. “You shouldn't have done that.”
“D-didn't plan to. Just sorta happened.”
“You're going to have to do it, Wufei.”
“I don't want him any further in this than he already is, Heero.”
Heero pursed his lips. “Look at him. It seems he's going to unlock the visions whether he's linked to you or not, and he's not strong enough to handle it. If you don't do it, he'll be vulnerable.”
Quatre closed his eyes and sighed. “We can't force him,” he whispered. “The important thing is we have information.”
“What'd y'all see?”
“One of the four ancients,” Wufei answered.
“Where was he?”
Wufei shook his head. “On a beach somewhere.”
Heero grunted. “That narrows it down.”
“Alaska,” Quatre murmured. “Near Anchorage.”
Heero nodded. “Then we make plans to go to Alaska.”
Wufei rubbed his forehead. “Just like that, huh? Heero, have you ever fought a vampire? I know you said you were capable, but have you ever actually fought one?”
“No.”
“Then what makes you so confident?”
Trowa chuckled softly but turned it into a cough when Heero shot a glare at him. He forced his lips to a fine, but his emerald eyes sparkled with mirth. “You should tell them.”
Heero grunted.
“They'll find out sooner or later.”
He pushed to his feet. “I'll stick with later.”
Trowa sighed. “It's nothing to be ashamed of.”
Heero spared a glance over his shoulder before leaving the room. Duo cleared his throat.
“Um... were his eyes glowing?”
“He does that when he wants to let me know that he's serious.”
The doorbell rang and Duo stood. “That'll be Zechs.”
“Sun's still out,” Wufei reminded him. “Close this door before you let him in.”
Duo nodded and did as told. His eyes widened as he found Zechs leaning heavily against the door frame, blood running down the side of his face. The blond stumbled forward and he caught him.
“What happened?”
“Wrecked.”
Duo looked out to the street. “How far away?”
“Mile up the road. Breaks went out.”
“Shit. You walked a mile like this?” He kicked the door closed and locked it before pulling the blond to the living room. “Why didn't you call?”
“Couldn't find my phone.”
Trowa jumped up as they entered and helped Duo get the blond on the sofa. Wufei eased Quatre into a comfortable position on the love seat and left the room.
“Call me when he's cleaned up.”
Trowa nodded. “Send Heero down.”
Zechs turned his eyes up to Duo as the brunette dabbed a tissue to the gash over his eye. “Why did he leave?”
“Fresh blood is too tempting because he doesn't feed like he should,” Quatre answered.
“He could if he did what he needs to do.”
Quatre looked to Heero as he entered the room. “He's afraid he's going to hurt me. Don't worry, he'll come around.”
Zechs' hissing drew their attention back to the long haired blond. Duo grimaced. “I think he's got some broken ribs.”
Heero knelt by the sofa, batted Duo's hands away, and placed his palm flat to the area. His brows drew together slightly. “Two broken, one cracked.” He looked up to Zechs' eyes and put his other hand on the gash on his forehead. “This will be a little uncomfortable.”
Zechs gasped as Heero's eyes began to glow and he felt warmth in his side, followed by snapping pain. He gripped Duo's hand and closed his eyes as skin stitched itself back together. The pressure eased and he sagged into the soft cushions of the sofa, gasping for breath.
“How did you do that?”
He smirked. “How else you think I survived the war with all the shit I pulled?”
“What are you?”
He sat back on his heels. “What happened?”
“Breaks went out.”
“Tampered with?”
He grabbed the back of the sofa and tried to sit up, not liking lying flat on his back with people hovering over him. Dizziness and Heero's hand on his shoulder pushed him back down.
“You need to take it easy for a bit. Was your car tampered with?”
“I don't know.”
“Where is it?”
“Mile up the road in a ditch, at that sharp curve.”
Heero stood and looked to Trowa. “Let's go see what we can find.”
The two left and Duo sat on the edge of the sofa and brushed long blond bangs to the side. “I'm glad you're all right.”
He grunted. “Me too.”
“What'd you tell Une?”
He grinned. “That we were eloping.”
He choked. “You did not!”
“Yes, I did.”
“Why would she believe that?”
He raised a shoulder. “She and Noin have known we were seeing each other.”
Duo rubbed his eyes. “I thought we agreed we weren't telling anyone”
“I didn't mean to. Noin and I were out drinking and I let it slip.”
Quatre watched the pair with a soft smile. He could feel mixed emotions coming from Duo with an undercurrent of love he'd yet to realize. Zechs definitely loved the braided man, but it seemed he hadn't told him yet.
Wufei slipped back into the room and Quatre's smile brightened as he sat next to him. He nodded to Zechs. “It's been a while.”
The blond nodded slowly, not sure what to make of the changes in Wufei. “So you're a vampire.”
A fine black brow raised. “Yes.”
“That must be... interesting.”
He snorted. “That's one way to put it. You plan to come to Alaska with us?”
“If that's where we're going.”
“Once Quatre is better and you and the others know exactly what it's like to fight a vampire.” He looked from Zechs to Duo. “If you can last five minutes with me, you can come.”
******
Heero stepped back from the wreckage, shaking his head. “I think it was a faulty part.”
Trowa nodded, leaning against the trunk. “Seems that way.” He studied his lover for a moment and then sighed. “Let's get back to the house.”
Sapphire eyes flicked to him before they began the trek back. “What?”
“I didn't say anything.”
“You're thinking something.”
“Just wondering if taking Duo and Zechs with us to fight vampires is a good idea.”
Heero shoved his hands in his pockets and looked up to the darkening sky. “I know. But, then again, the hunters that wiped out the werewolves and a good portion of the vampires were human, so it isn't impossible. Besides, I don't think there's any way to really stop Duo or Zechs once they've made up their minds.”
“That's true.” He stepped lightly over a fallen tree on the side of the road. “And Quatre?”
“He'll be a sitting duck until Wufei forges the link.”
“Why do you think he's reluctant to do it? Do you think there's more to it than he's letting on?”
Heero shook his head. “I have no way of knowing. All I know is what he's told us, that mating allows a human to be able to use a vampire's power. But somehow Quatre was able to affect the visions without it. He's strong, but a human wasn't meant to hold power like that. Not without a conduit.”
Trowa nodded absently and Heero tilted his head to the side. “Was there something else?”
Emerald eyes narrowed slightly. “Custos... I think it's Latin, but I'm not sure what it means. I think I'll look it up when we get back to the house. Maybe knowing what it means will help us know what we're looking for.”
