Dragonball: Unforgotten
Chapter sixty-seven
“There’s a rumor that you’re leaving the school,” Sharpener said as he leaned back in his chair, looking at you.
You looked up from the math problem that you were trying to do. There was only a few minutes before class officially started and you wanted to get your homework done. Lords knows you hadn’t been able to focus last night after Broly had laid down his expectation. You’d been internally panicking after that. You still kind of were but you had to get the problem done.
“For once the rumor is almost right,” you replied back to him. “I’m taking the test so I don’t have to come back for junior or senior year.”
He had a look of disbelief on his face. You couldn’t blame him for that. After all, you had blindsided him with the news.
“Damn. Is it that bad here?”
You shrugged because you weren’t sure if that was a yes or a no. There were good and bad parts about being in school. Regardless of the fact that because of the rumor mill you were the school’s notorious whore, there were still some parts of your day that you enjoyed.
“I will tell you later,” you said to Sharpener calmly as Gohan finally walked into the room. “Class is about to start.”
And not more than a few seconds later the morning bell rang. You smiled and gave a half wave to Gohan as he walked back to take his seat. Though from what you could tell, even though he returned the half hearted smile, he seemed to be trapped in his own thoughts.
Come lunchtime, you got up from your seat and waited for Sharpener to walk out. You had promised him an explanation. It only seemed fair that you do it at lunch so you wouldn’t be rushing to get home. Or get to capsule Corp as the case may be. You could stand to wait to eat a full meal till school was over. It had been a long time since you’d had food from a cafeteria.
As you walked beside your human friend you never noticed that Gohan had walked out and had been about to ask you a question. You’d already started to turn your back by that point.
By the time you were done explaining your story to your blond haired friend, he seemed ready to flip out. In fact, he repeated ‘no way’ more than once. And you hadn’t even told him about the whole re-pregnant thing. You figured that might be a bit too much information for him in one day.
“You’ve got to be making that up.”
You brought another large mouthful of chocolate cake up to your mouth, chewing and just staring at him for a moment. Even though you weren’t eating a lot by volume, your tray had been filled with the highest caloric food that the school had to offer. Which somehow didn’t seem to catch his attention. Although one of the bitchier girls had walked by and asked it you were eating for two. You hadn’t retaliated even though you had wanted to punch her in the face because you’d been in the middle of your explanation and hadn’t wanted to lose your train of that.
“Time to prove it right?” You asked, standing up with your tray.
Sharpener got the point and sloppily cleaned up his area as well. You lead him up to the roof as you thought about how to prove the situation. The easiest, most impactful, thing you could think of was flying. But you had a feeling that he’d rally against the idea of you holding him in your arms like a baby. Besides that might get awkward seeing as how he was bigger than you.
You contemplated putting him on your back but your tail was a concern there. Damned thing might uncurl and do weird things seeing as you enjoyed flying so much. Still, compared to putting your front against him it seemed like the best idea. You had a feeling that holding him front to back would still bruise that fragile male pride of his.
“Alright, so fair warning I have a tail. Like an actual tail. I’ll show it to you when we land. But what I need for you to do is go ahead and hug me from behind. And hold on real tight. Don’t worry about hugging too hard; I can take whatever. Come on, we don’t have all day blondie.”
You turned your back to him to try and start him off. Sharpener seemed hesitant to do anything. And he awkwardly looked his arms around you. You rolled your eyes and tightened them.
“Seriously, hold on tight. I don’t need you falling and breaking a leg before we even start.”
“What are you—“
You didn’t give him time to finish that thought as you lifted both yourself and Sharpener into the air with ease. He reflexively held on tighter than a moment ago before he consciously realized what was happening. Before you got too high up you flattened yourself out. That way you were between Sharpener and the ground. His weight did very little as you started to fly away from the school. You started off slowly at first but picked up enough speed to keep up with cars on the freeway fairly easily.
You landed in a small patch of trees just outside of the city. You touched down slowly as you tried to keep in mind Sharpeners much more fragile legs. He seemed too stunned to let go of you right away. So you unwrapped his arms as gently as you could before stepping away. What you saw when you turned around was quite funny. His hair was a mess and the expression on his face was pure shock.
You put your hand to his cheek a few times, probably the closest to quickly tapping him as you could get without hurting him. Sharpener shook as he reorganized himself.
“So everything at the tournament...they weren’t tricks.”
“Nope, all real,” you told him candidly.
“And you’re actually an alien,” he stared in a shocked tone of suspended disbelief.
“Yep. If it makes you feel any better I thought I was an Earthling for most of my life. Remember that whole memory implant idea?”
“...but you are an alien right? How do you look so human.”
You shifted from foot to foot as you contemplated what you wanted to say. He was right. For the most part, Saiyans and humans looked a lot a like. Even with some small differences, Saiyans could pass for human if they wanted. You had, Goku had, Gohan was trying to, and no one knew about any of the others. And even though the density and durability was different even the muscular structure and organ formation was the same. Then there was the fact that humans and Saiyans were so similar that they were compatible on a genetic level. Half-Saiyans like Gohan, Goten, and Trunks proved that. And unless they were infertile like mules, then they would be considered successful offspring.
Huh, now you really wanted to know if they were like mules. But that would be a question for a day that was not today.
“Yeah, we do. But there are some differences. Hair texture for one. Ours feels more like soft fur. And it doesn’t grow passed like a genetically defined stopping point. Our bones are naturally a whole lot stronger and more durable, same goes with muscle fibers. Our body is meant to take at least ten times the gravity of Earth so I guess that’s why. Uh...what else...oh! The distinction between iris and pupil is almost non-existent. Honestly I don’t think there is a difference. And we’re born with a fully functional tail like a primate from Earth. Here, I’ll show you.”
After you said that you lifted up your long, dress which you wore like a shirt, to show him your tail. Normally you kept it curved around your hips while you were in school to the best of your abilities. But he’d seen it plenty of times before. It was just that he only saw it over your gym clothes, curled up and folded over itself like a belt. This time you let it unfurl and hang down. Lords that felt good. Like taking off a bra after a long day.
Sharpener’s eyes were as wide as they could be. His mouth was slacked. You hummed to yourself as you waited for the muscular teenager to get a hold of himself. You didn’t hold any of it against him. He was going through quite the shocking revelation.
“Oh and get this, if I stare up at the full moon, I apparently transform into a giant monkey like monster of rage. I haven’t done it yet cause I figured that it would hurt Earth, but yeah apparently that’s a thing.”
“No way.”
“...seriously. But I’m not going to prove that part to you. Sounds too dangerous.”
“So you’re really an alien?” Sharpener prompted again.
“Yep.”
“Gheeze. And here I thought the nerd getting golden hair was the weirdest thing I’d see.”
You smiled nervously at him. You were really bad at lying but you refused to give away someone else’s secrets. Especially since all Gohan wanted to do was be normal. And you had a feeling that being labeled as an actual alien would alienate him from that.
“Uh, so you want me to keep this under wraps right?” Was his next question.
“Yeah, if you can. I don’t really plan on leading an invasion or anything. Earth is my home. It’s pretty awesome and I want to keep it that way.”
“Yeah, sure,” his tone was still as shocked as the look on his face.
You hoped he meant what he said. Life would be a lot easier if you didn’t end up with government agents knocking on your door. That would be a pretty big hassle. It was a wonder that hadn’t happened yet.
______________________________
After school, you met Gohan on the roof. He’d been waiting nervously it seemed like. He propped himself up against the small building that connected to the door. His arms were crossed and he seemed to be thinking a great deal. That’s all he ever seemed to be doing since his dad had gone back to the after life. You and he had barely talked since then. The longest you had talked with him in the last week or so had been when you found out that Goku had injured Chichi everytime they had sex. Which you kept reminding yourself was none of your business.
“Hey,” you greeted.
Gohan opened his eyes and gave you a half smile back. “Hey.”
“You were waiting right?”
Gohan nodded as his arms loosened and fell to his side. He pushed himself away from the building while the door closed behind you.
“Yeah, I told mom that I wanted to talk to my teacher about an upcoming opportunity. So she’s not expecting me home right away.”
You looked at him with widened eyes. “...wait. You lied to your mother? Okay, where is Gohan and what have you done with him?”
“I didn’t lie!” He defended himself, hands raised up slightly to uphold his innocence. “You did teach me the instant transmission technique. So you are kind of one of my teachers…”
“Oh that is so splitting hairs,” you laughed a little. “I’m such a bad teacher; I’m a bad influence on you. Seriously though, you shouldn’t have lied to her. That’s not cool.”
“I know...but if I told her I wanted to talk to you...she’d get upset. My mom doesn’t really like you. I don’t know why; she didn’t like Videl at first either. But once she found out that Videl has a big house, maids and cooks that changed. Now...she keeps telling me to marry her.”
Well, that confirmed it for you. Not only was she a meddling bitch but she was a gold digging meddling bitch. Damn, you’d barely been around her but you were starting to understand Goku’s dilemma more. Especially if she’d only reminded Goku about his promise to marry her after he seemed like a shoe-in to win the martial arts tournament, expecting him to keep competing and winning those large sums of money. And when he didn’t...well...that had probably put a lot of tension on their marriage. Still you were making a lot of bias assumptions of their marriage. It probably hadn’t been easy on her either. It was just that you really didn’t care about her very much. And with how you’d been advocating for her to Goku of all people you should have been made a saint.
The confused and slightly disturbed look on his face was cute. The fact that he was so naive was what made it so. It helped to distract you from all of the assumptions you were making about his mother.
You gently reached your hand up and messed up his hair to draw his attention away from all of his internal thoughts.
“You wanted to talk right? Anything important?” You prompted him.
You had a few things that were really important that you wanted to talk about. But that could Wait. Gohan was the one who had been waiting around with something on his mind. Something that was pressing enough that he’d even sort of lied to his mom because of it. Knowing him that had to be pretty darn important.
“Yeah, can we go to your place? I think if people saw or heard us up here...they might get the wrong idea again.”
As he said that you saw a small blush starting to warm up his features. He was right though. Everyone in the school who wasn’t Sharpener, Videl, or Erasa already thought that you were fucking your “cousin” Gohan on the roof, or at least that you had been. Most people kept commenting that they were glad you stopped being such a filthy whore at school. You might not have much longer being a high school student (assuming you passed your GREs) but you didn’t want them to start in on you again cause you’d been seen with Gohan in the roof.
So you reached out your hand and took Gohan and yourself to your studio apartment.
Once you were there you started to let go of Gohan’s hand but he seemed reluctant to let go. He gently squeezed harder to hold on, which left you a little confused. But you didn’t say anything as he embarrassedly looked down.
“What’s on your mind, Gohan?”
“...I think I understand how my dad felt. A little,” he mumbled. “I wanted to talk to you at lunch today. I miss coming back here and having lunch. I miss talking with you. I miss training with you and playing around too. But you started to walk off with Sharpener before you even saw me. And I really didn’t like how that felt.”
Oh you had a feeling that you knew where this was going. And it made a sort of fluttering panic rise in your chest.
“I know that I’ve been busy taking care of my mom,” Gohan admitted as he finally raised his gaze to look into your eyes. “So I know it’s my fault we haven’t been spending much time together. But when I saw you walking off with Sharpener to go get lunch instead of even checking to see if I wanted to come back here...I got angry. At him. I know I should have been mad at myself but I wasn’t. When I saw you walking with him to the cafeteria it felt like he was taking you away from me. And some part of me really wanted to punch him in the face. Especially when I felt you fly off with him.”
“Gohan…” you breathed out nervously.
He squeezed your hand tighter as he tensed up. You could practically feel the surge of emotions racing through him. They were very confusing, very conflicted. And each sensation felt like it was the sharpest even though they were all equally as prominent. It didn’t feel natural to be feeling it all like that. Literally feeling them against your skin.
“I know,” he breathed out with a mixed expression on his face. “I know. I’m only making things more complicated. I know how weird this is. But I don’t know what else to say or do. I keep trying to think about how this is wrong. And it probably is; you married my dad and everything. But my dad is dead and you’re not.”
Was now a bad time to bring up the fact that you had agreed to bring him back? Even if it was under a lot of different conditions. Somehow you figured it was. Gohan seemed like he needed this release. Especially with the way that words kept falling out of his mouth all the way from his heart.
“And the more I think about it the more logical it all seems. I mean we’re the same. We both want a normal life but...we’re not normal. Even when everything is peaceful I’m just not normal, and neither are you. I can really hurt normal humans even when I don’t mean to just because I wasn’t paying attention. Just because of the way that I was born and how I’ve had to get stronger so that everyone could survive. But it’s not fair - I don’t want to have to worry about every little movement. About being so gentle that I can’t even feel anything but my own tense muscles.”
His honesty was so raw in his voice that you heard it. You felt it. He raised your hand he still had connected with his own. You felt him bring your enveloped hand to his own chest, holding it tightly.
“I don’t have to worry about that with you. You’re just like me. And we both get along right? We could be a good team.”
“Gohan...Goku—“ You didn’t get to finish that thought as Gohan cut you off.
“I can do everything my father can do. I can give you everything he could and more. I promise. I’ll be a better husband than he was to you or my mom,” Gohan declared. “We both legally turn eighteen in two years, so the actual wedding will have to wait till then. But I promise to be the best boyfriend until we’re married. And when I graduate from college I will get a good job so you won’t ever have to worry about money. I’ll keep training so that you don’t have to worry about Broly for long either. I don’t mind getting a few years older if it means he won’t touch you.”
“Your mother already hates me,” you tried to get that idea in his head as you internally panicked a little.
You couldn’t help but imagine what Goku would do if he heard what Gohan was saying. He’d been pissed that Gohan had stopped him when you were in heat. It had been so bad that he’d started separating himself from the fact that Gohan was even his son in that dream! If he heard Gohan promising to marry you...to keep you...you had a feeling no amount of promising would stop him from getting angry. Especially considering the fact that you were already carrying his (Goku’s) child and he seemed extremely against you passing it off as Gohan’s as it was.
“She doesn’t know you. And she doesn’t know what it’s like to try and touch people like they’re made of glass. She’d only ever known that being around Saiyans like me and dad hurts...that’s normal to her. She doesn’t know that it’s not supposed to hurt. I don’t want to make that normal for anyone else. You showed me that it’s not and doesn’t have to ever be that way.”
“That’s not because I’m special or anything like that Gohan. That’s just because I’m a saiyan.”
He nodded. “I know. But I don’t have to worry about hurting you when I’m just being normal. You have no idea how nice it is just to hold your hand and not have to worry about hurting you.”
“Gohan, I think your emotions are running a bit high after that shock with Erasa,” you told him with a small smile. “When you calm down you’re going to feel silly. I mean, I’m here for you no matter what to help but...don’t you think this might just be because you’re worried about hurting people again?”
Gohan lowered his eyes once more. You felt bad that he might be ashamed of his outburst. You didn’t want to make him feel bad for what he was feeling. But what else could you really do? Say no and crush him like that? You weren’t heartless. You cared for him a lot. He was your best friend. And he was a great person. The fact that he was so worried about hurting another girl (you assumed he’d been thinking about trying to have a girlfriend) to the point of thinking you were the only safe option was endearing.
You ran your hand through his hair tenderly as you spoke, “Hey, relax. It’s cool that you’re worry about others like this. But relationships shouldn’t be based on guilt or worry. When you find the right girl it’ll make more sense.”
He looked up, a serious expression on his face. It was actually hard to see considering how close you had to be to reach up to his head. Not to mention that he still held your hand against his chest rather tightly.
“I have,” he said firmly.
Before you had time to respond, Gohan backed you up to the wall. And he started to kiss you. It was much harder than you would have thought. Especially with the way that he used his other hand on your hip to keep you in place. It was like a switch had been flipped in him with all of the pressure he faced. He went from mild mannered, easily embarrassed and modest Gohan to a dominating force in front of you.
You enjoyed it far more than you should have. And as you realized that your heart and stomach sank.
As he stopped kissing you, Gohan straightened back up. There was a slight blush on his face but nowhere near matching yours.
“I’ll prove to you that I’m serious, that I’ve put a lot of thought into this. The next time you go into heat, I’m going to kiss you again and again until you tell me to stop and mean it.”
