Chapter 7. The Wolf And The Phoenix
“Tala... I need to tell you something...”
Tala removed his hand from Kai’s cheek to rest it on his shoulder. He looked at Kai with a soft, confused expression. He could feel the phoenix trembling under his hand and knew whatever it was wasn’t going to be pretty.
Kai turned away from Tala his entire body quivering. He felt so weak right now. Not only was he crying, he was afraid to say it, say the only words that have been itching at the back of his throat for two whole years. He felt a hand rub against his back and smiled, hearing Tala’s soft voice in his ear, calming him and his nerves.
“What is it Kai?” Tala asked softly. “You can tell me. Were friends, remember?”
“Tala, do you remember two years ago when you left,” Kai said, voice quiet. “I was trying to tell you something but that stupid taxi interrupted me. I also tried to tell you on the plane, but the pilot interrupted me there.”
“Yea, I remember,” Tala said, nodding his head.
Kai took in a slow, shaky breath. He closed the blue box, squeezing it in his hand again, biting down on his lip. More tears sprang to his eyes, but he shook them away. He heard a loud beat kick up and people cheering inside. He could here laughter and friends yelling at each other over the music and dancers.
“What were you going to tell me?” Tala asked.
“Were friends, right?” Kai said, mind in a daze.
“Of course we are,” Tala scolded. “Why do you ask? We’ll always be friends.”
“Did you ever think, we could ever be more,” Kai whispered.
‘All the time,’ Tala said to himself. “Kai, why are you asking me this?”
‘This is it, Kai, you have to tell him. No turning back now,’ Kai said to only himself, turning to look at the confused redhead.
Kai placed both his hand son Tala’s hips. He waited to see if Tala would pull away or give him an indication to move his hands, but nothing came. He moved one of his hands to Tala’s cheek, brushing his thumb over the pale surface. It was now or never, and now was a much better bet than never.
“Tala... I want you to know... that two years ago...” Kai began. His throat felt so dry. “I was going to ask you... to stay with me... to live with me...”
“Kai...”
“I love you Tala. I know I’ve told you before, but I love you more than just being friends. I love you Tala... I’m in love with you,” Kai said, pulling the wolf closer. “Two years ago I wanted to say that too you, but I didn’t. I wanted to call, but I thought you’d reject me. Now I said it, and I don’t regret my choice. I’m in love with you Tala, and I want to be with you.”
“Kai...”
Everything fell silent. The world seem to have been paused. Their was no music playing. You couldn’t hear anyone laughing or talking. The thundering of feet was gone from the dance floor. Everything had disappeared except for them, staring into each others eyes. The red and the blue. The fire and the ice. The wolf and the phoenix. It was them, and only them now.
“You don’t know... how long I have waited... to hear those words,” Tala choked out, tears brimming in his eyes and leaking down his face.
Kai pulled Tala forward, holding the wolf’s chin, his eyes glazed over with lust and love. He pressed his lips gently to Tala’s not wanting the moment to die. He wrapped his arms around the boys waist, holding him, if possible, even closer. They opened their mouths, tongues running together in the dance that only they knew.
The pair parted when air was necessary, panting for breath. Tala rubbed his head gently against Kai’s chest, sighing and closing his eyes, the tears shaking from his lashes and dripping onto his cheeks. He pulled away, Kai’s thumb rubbing over his shining cheeks and he smiled, kissing Kai’s palm in a soft kiss.
“Two years ago I wanted to say the same thing to you Kai,” Tala whispered. “I thought it was too late, but now...”
Kai kissed him again gently and pulled away, looking at him with the coolest of eyes, the warmest of gaze, the shining of tears giving him a childish look from many years ago.
“I love you too Kai,” Tala whispered. “I’ve loved you since the days of the abbey. We were always so close, and I knew we could be closer. I’m in love with you now just as I was back then, and I don’t want that to change.”
“It, won’t,” Kai hushed. “I promise. I’m here to stay Tala, and nothing will pull me away anymore. Nothing.”
Kai pulled away from Tala, knowing this whole scene wasn’t over. He still had something to give his beautiful wolf. He felt his hand shaking and lifted the small blue box, holding it out with his hand. Tala tilted his head, looking confused, yet intrigued by the velvet casing.
“What’s in it?”
Kai sighed, lifting the lid, the light above bouncing of the diamonds, making the two rings sparkle in Tala’s blue orbs. He gasped silently, his mouth dropping open. He picked the box up from Kai’s hand, holding it to look more closely. More tears shined in his eyes and he looked up into the bright rubies standing in front of him.
“I had them made two years ago. That was what I was going to give you whether or not you stayed with me,” Kai whispered. “I loved you in ever aspect and wanted to show it to you.”
“Were these... custom made?” Tala asked, voice low but happy.
Kai nodded.
“Kai... I don’t... I...”
Kai lowered his gaze, not knowing what was to come. He felt needles ready to pierce his heart if Tala said he couldn’t accept them, and he felt that same needles if he did, but the pierce wouldn’t hurt. His hands shook and he rocked from one foot to the other, the silence becoming odd and uncomfortable.
“You really are a charmer,” Tala whispered. “I love them.”
Kai looked up quickly, noticing Tala had already pulled the ring from the box and set it on the railing. He held both in his hand, staring at Kai with such a handsome gaze he could have melted on the spot.
Kai reached out and took the rings from Tala’s hands, getting a confused look from the redhead. He began to lower himself onto the floor.
“I need to do this right,” Kai said, moving down slowly onto one knee. Tala looked around with a hint of a blush on his face, making sure no one was watching. He looked down at Kai who was getting comfortable on his knee, the blush spreading slowly.
“Kai... Kai what are you doing?” Tala asked, in a high voice.
“I’m doing it right,” Kai said, shifting on his knee and looking up.
“This kinda gives you some ideas,” Tala said, smirking from the thought.
“Pervert,” Kai muttered.
Tala rolled his eyes, the blush spreading wider across his face. He stood calmly, but knew his legs were shaking full throttle. He swallowed, looking around once more to make sure everyone was still dancing and not paying attention to them. He turned back to Kai and noticed he had the ring held out with the red ruby, smiling up at Tala with soft bleary eyes.
“Tala Ivanov, I love you so much, “ Kai said with a whisper. “Promise never to leave me and live with me.”
Tala smiled. “Of course.”
Kai grabbed Tala’s hand and slid the ring onto his finger, looking at it. It was amazing it still fit perfectly. Tala slid down onto both knees to be eyes level with the phoenix. He grabbed the other ring from Kai and lifted his hand, looking at him with a smirk.
“Promise me the same thing,” Tala whispered.
“I confessed my feelings, of course I wont leave you,” Kai said with a smile.
Tala did the same, sliding the ring onto Kai’s finger. They stood together, admiring each others rings. A whistle from the door caught their attention and they turned with a start. Tyson, Daichi, Max, Ray, Lee... oh hell... everyone stood at the balcony door clapping and whistling at them.
“Way to pop the question, Kai,” Tyson cheered.
“You rock, Tala,” Ray chimed.
“You two are going to be so happy,” Max giggled.
“OUT,” Kai snarled.
Everyone ran at Kai’s sour tone, breaking for the dance floor. The music started again and everyone began dancing, some still staring out at the two on the balcony. Kai sighed and rubbed his temples, growling under his breath. Tala smiled and grabbed his hand, turning him to look out over the city. He leaned his head on Kai’s shoulder, closing his eyes and humming to himself.
“Are you humming the wedding theme?” Kai asked, looking at the smirking redhead.
“You betcha,” Tala laughed.
“Prick,” Kai grumbled, but gave a hint of a smirk himself.
They stood for a moment, staring out at the lights of the city, never once removing their gazes. They held hands, Kai running his fingers up and down Tala’s arm softly. Tala turned, pressing a kiss to Kai’s neck softly, making the other shudder. He sighed and leaned his head back down, feeling a yawn coming up on him. He looked at the clock on the hotel wall and stared almost shocked at it.
“2:14 am already,” Tala muttered. “Wow.”
“Let’s pack it in,” Kai whispered.
Tala nodded and they walked off the balcony, entering the room only to get more cheers and claps. Kai shot everyone glares, making them shut up and they left the reunion back up to their room. They entered the elevator and immediately latched onto one another, groping and kissing one another passionately.
“What did Spencer want,” Kai asked through a kiss.
Tala pulled away and thought for a moment. He had almost forgotten Spencer had spoken to him. The words popped back into his head and he smiled, his own thoughts laughing at him for forgetting.
“He wanted me to tell you I loved you,” Tala said.
“So I didn’t actually have to go through all that,” Kai muttered.
“But aren’t you glad you did?” Tala said sweetly.
“Oh hell yea,” Kai smirked pulling Tala into another kiss.
They pushed the door to their bedroom open and Kai froze, looking around the amazing looking room. Candles had been splayed all over the room, glowing on the floor, one the dressers and in the closets. The sheets had been changed from the usual white ones to blue and red silk ones. The pillows the same. A bundle of red and white roses sat on the pillows and a ring of red and white pedals in the shape of a heart with an arrow through it lay on the centre of the bed spread with a note on the bottom.
I love you Kai.
Smiling, Kai turned to the redhead who only smiled back and passed the phoenix, pulling him into the room and closing the door. Tala was about to kiss Kai, but he stopped him. He looked at Tala with a quizzical expression.
“Spencer didn’t tell you to tell me you love me did he?” Kai asked, getting a flushed smile from the redhead. “He told you your set up was ready.”
“So,” Tala muttered with a blush.
“Sexy,” Kai answered smoothly.
“There’s more of that to come,” Tala whispered huskily, making Kai shudder.
Tala sat Kai on the bed and turned off the lights, turning on a slow sexy song. He slowly began to undress himself, giving Kai sultry looks, making the phoenix pant. He pulled his top off completely, giving Kai a full view of his muscled chest. He moved closer to Kai, unlatching his belt but leaving his pants on. He removed Kai’s jacket and shirt leaving both of them topless.
Kai pulled Tala close, holding his hips while he kissed and licked Tala’s chest, getting a soft sight from the redhead looming over him. Tala continued to move slowly to the music, moving Kai’s hands with his hips. He placed a hand on Kai’s shoulder and pushed him back, crawling over his body to sit on his groin.
Tala pushed his hips down onto Kai’s making the phoenix moan under him. He ran his hips harder, still swaying to the song. Kai tightened his grip on Tala’s hip, making him push harder. He felt Tala’s erection and wanted so badly to feel the actual flesh. He moaned when Tala pushed again, letting out a moan of his own.
The redhead pushed again, slowly removing his pants and boxers. Kai watched, his eyes glazed and lusty. He continued to pant, licking his lips and running his hands up and down Tala’s soft sides. In an instant Tala’s member was free. He moved down to Kai’s pants, tugging at them. Kai lifted his hips, allowing the pants to come fully off. Tala lowered himself onto Kai’s chest, the tips of their erections touching together.
They moaned simultaneously, Kai moaning out Tala’s name in Russian. He pushed his hips up, grinding their members even closer together. He could feel Tala’s tip was already wet and continued to thrust his hips up, making the redhead moan along with him. He pushed himself up onto his elbows, pulling Tala into a heated kiss. They opened their mouths, tongues dueling together and rubbing against one another.
Tala reached into the side table and pulled out a small tube. He popped the cap and looked down at Kai, smirking while he rubbed the jell onto his hands and wrapped his hand around Kai’s hard erection. Kai immediately felt heat and gasped, knowing Tala had asked Brian and Spencer to buy heating lube. He twisted while Tala stroked him, all the while grinding his hips up against each other.
Before Kai could even finish, Tala removed his hand, leaning down to kiss the now panting and confused boy. Tala lifted himself up and positioned himself over Kai, shaking gently. Kai grabbed Tala’s hips, leading him down onto his erection. Tala groaned when Kai’s tip entered him, panting as a tear came to his eye. He lowered slowly with Kai’s help and within seconds had buried Kai deep inside himself.
His arms shook and he panted trying to calm himself and relax. He felt Kai run a hand up his cheek and looked down, smiling softly at the phoenix. Kai kissed him again and ran his hand up Tala’s sides, soothing him with soft hums and moans, brushing a hand over his cheek softly. He moved his hands back onto Tala’s hips, wanting him to control the thrusts.
“Take your time,” Kai whispered. “Draw it out as long as you want.”
Tala smiled and pulled up very slowly and pushed down even slower, groaning and throwing his head back. He heard Kai growl below him and arch into the push, wanting more. He smirked, a blush creeping onto his cheeks as he pushed up again and back down slowly. He knew he wouldn’t be able to keep the pace up, but wanted to draw it out.
“God... Tala...” Kai panted.
Tala pulled up again and back down, pushing hard against Kai’s body. He pulled up again, stopping at the tip and back down. Kai bucked his hips, hitting Tala’s prostate. The wolf froze to the spot, stars shooting behind his eyelids when Kai bucked. He shuddered, biting back a loud moan that he knew even the reunion would here. He pushed up again and again Kai met his downward thrust. This time he couldn’t hold back and moaned loudly, panting as he pushed down onto Kai’s erection.
Kai moved one of his hands from Tala’s hips and wrapped his hand around the large erection stroking it slowly in time to Tala’s thrusts. Tala growled, gritting his teeth together and began to move faster, Kai doing the same. Panting hard and pushing with all his force, Tala clenched, feeling Kai’s seed release into his body at the same time he released onto the phoenix’s chest.
His body convulsed, arms shaking and breath coming in short, sweet, pants. He lowered his head, his long red hair, dripping with sweat. His two long strands clung to his face and his cheeks were flushed red. He looked up through glassy lust filled eyes into Kai’s fogged loved ones. Kai sat up, never once removing Tala from within him. Tala wrapped his arms around the phoenix’s neck, his body shaking, sweat and semen sticking to him. Kai buried his face into Tala’s shoulder, kissing him gently.
“That was amazing,” Kai moaned.
“We need to do it like that... more often,” Tala gasped out.
Kai smiled and kissed Tala on the lips, lifting the boy from his erection and lying him on the bed, moving the flowers to the side and pulling the silk sheets over their body. Tala curled into Kai’s chest, leaning his forehead into the warmth of his lovers body.
“You think anyone heard my moan?” Tala asked with a snicker.
“We’ll see by the looks on everyone’s faces tomorrow,” Kai said, giving a smirk.
“I love you, Kai,” Tala whispered, feeling sleep over take him.
“I love you too, Tala,” Kai whispered.
*~*~*
Kai woke up slowly, stretching and feeling his back crack in some places. He looked down beside him, Tala’s side of the bed empty. He knew Brian and Spencer probably slept in one of the other teams room, knowing Kai and Tala would want some alone time. He heard a pan drop in the kitchen and Tala cuss loudly. Laughing silently, Kai stood and walked to the kitchen entrance, leaning against the frame, watching the redhead, glare daggers at the pan.
“You know I hear if you glare long enough it actually will burst into flames...”
“Shut up and help me,” Tala grumbled.
“You know I was hoping to make love to you this morning, but you were gone,” Kai said with a smirk, seeing the redheads bright expression.
“It’s only nine, we still have time,” Tala said with a smile.
Tala pulled Kai into the bedroom, slamming the door behind them. An hour later they emerged from the shower, Kai walking over to the stove and beginning to cook while Tala grabbed the paper to read it. He looked over the back cover first and then turned the paper around, staring googly-eyed at the front page.
“Umm, Kai,” Tala croaked.
“Hmm,” Kai answered.
Tala turned the paper to show Kai, a blush across his face and a soft smile on his lips. Kai looked at the picture and smiled, seeing them together on the balcony, Kai kneeling in front of Tala and placing the ring on his finger.
“I thought the reunion was secured,” Kai said with a growl.
“Looks like one did a spy gag and found us,” Tala said with a shrug.
Kai placed a place in front of Tala and took the paper, reading the caption underneath. He snorted and cleared his throat, ready to read it out loud. Before he could, he found a fork in his face and a piece of pancake shoved at his mouth. Kai took it, but didn’t release the fork. Tala lead him over to him and they kissed, Kai swallowing his mouthful before deepening the kiss. They parted and Kai sat, clearing his throat again to read the caption.
“Long time beyblade, Kai Hiwatari, was seen proposing to his boyfriend, Tala Ivanov, during the night of their reunion. The pair have decided to close the deal and become a real couple after many long years of friendship,” Kai said.
“How sweet,” Tala said with a smile.
“At least they got the boyfriend part right,” Kai said, dropping the paper. “But the proposing part is a little off. They rings are more like... promise rings.”
“We can act, can’t we,” Tala said with a smirk.
“Yes we can,” Kai said, smirking as well with a nod of his head.
“Hey, you guys aren’t fucking are you,” came Spencer’s booming voice.
“Yes... we are... on the kitchen table... fuck off,” Tala said through fake pants.
Kai growled and moaned out Tala’s name to the door, holding back his laughter. He heard Spencer groan in disgust and Brian’s loud laughter. Tala cried out Kai’s name, panting loudly. That was it and the two boys burst out laughing as Spencer and Brian barged into the kitchen, seeing the two boys pounding on the table, laughing hard.
“You guys are assholes,” Spencer grumbled.
“Funny guys, real funny,” Brian sighed. “What’s for breakfast?”
“Pancakes,” Tala said, pushing away his empty plate.
“So what is today, the lunch goodbye and then we head home tonight?” Spencer asked, dropping a large stack of pancakes onto a plate.
“Yep,” Tala answered.
“But some of us are going to a new home,” Kai said with a smile.
Tala smiled back, leaning over the table and kissing Kai softly. Spencer groaned and lifted his plate, leaving the kitchen while Brian kept his back to the two and staked his own pancakes. Kai and Tala separated and looked at one another, leaving one last kiss before they stood and exited the suit, walking out of the hotel and into the streets of Paris, the city of love.
