Pull the Trigger and the Nightmare Stops…
“dear my friends in the time we've spent forever after beyond this when will our nightmare ever end?
pull the trigger and the nightmare stops...”
Part. 7
Several mornings later, Heero told Duo that they needed to go in to the office so that Duo could sign some paperwork.
“That slime ball won’t be there, will he?” asked Duo, yawning and stretching, trying to entice Heero back into bed.
“No. He’s out on a job” Heero growled, pouncing, pulling the sheets off of his lover’s naked body.
Duo took Heero's hand and pushed it down his flat stomach until their entwined fingers found his cock, then they began a slow slide and pull, Duo guiding Heero's hand. Heero lay and watched the two hands in their erotic dance along the length of Duo's shaft and Duo arched and thrust as the hands grasped tighter and moved faster. Then Duo was coming deliciously on his own stomach, much to the voyeuristic pleasure of Heero.
Using the hot semen on his hand, Heero slid his fingers along the crevice of Duo's ass to find the tight muscular entrance to his body, the come acting as lube for the questing fingers. Meanwhile, Heero's tongue had began to lap up some of the come that had pooled on Duo's belly, much like a cat lapping up cream. When his fingers began to stroke Duo's sweet spot, Heero changed his position to better accommodate his lover’s pleasure. By now Duo was panting and writhing in earnest and Heero was ready to explode. Removing his fingers from Duo's channel and dragging them across Duo's belly to gather up what come was left, Heero used it to lubricate the length of his own cock, giving it a couple of good strokes before positioning it at Duo's entrance.
One look at Duo's glazed eyes told him that there would be no resistance and he easily slid in, sheathing himself fully, waiting only a moment before he began to thrust in and out of Duo's highly charged body. Duo clutched at him, wrapped his legs around the backs of Heero's thighs and rocked his body in time to Heero's thrusts. It seemed almost every thrust of his hit that sweet spot and Duo was soon clenched so tightly around him that he could hardly move, but the rhythmic pulsing of Duo's channel around Heero's shaft was enough to send Heero gently over the edge. The orgasm was long and sweet and Heero felt that he rode for it for what seemed a lifetime before he came to rest on Duo's hot, sweaty body.
It was several long moments before he was able to pull away from Duo and roll off of his body. Then he could only lay and groan. Heero had achieved a bit of Nirvana, he was sure of it, and it’s name was Duo Maxwell. Duo dozed beside him, completely sated.
~*~
“Duo? Duo, wake up, babe,” came the insistent voice, along with a gentle shake. Duo seemed rather disoriented, so sleepy at the moment. Heero just shook his head, smiling. He’d been lively enough earlier when he’d coaxed Heero back into bed with him. Maybe that was it, but Heero had never known Duo to suffer from an excess of sex. Quite the opposite, in fact, it had always seemed to energize him. Of course, it had only been about two weeks since he’d walked back into Heero's life, and that had been a bone jarring rollercoaster ride in itself, him getting his feelings and everything sorted out. And the three years apart. From the looks of him, it hadn’t been easy, but he wouldn’t talk about it, so Heero didn’t ask. He deserved to be tired, and to be treated as gently as possible for now. He’d talk when he was ready. That had always been Duo's way.
Heero kissed him and was finally rewarded by open and sleepy indigo eyes. Heero loved to look into Duo's eyes. He could almost lose himself in their ever changing colors that ranged from almost violet when he was happy to an intense dark blue when he was aroused or angry. But today, he couldn’t spend time swimming in the deep pools of Duo's eyes. Right now they needed to take care of business. Duo needed to start work.
Heero got his sleepy lover out of bed and into the shower, then headed to the kitchen to made some coffee and breakfast for him. Before long Duo bounced into the kitchen.
“Smells great, 'Ro. I didn’t know you could cook,” Duo chattered, grabbing the coffee Heero offered, then helping to set the table before sitting down to eat. “If I’d known that, I’d have made you be the wife, know what I mean, 'Ro? I don’t cook worth a damn, mostly burn things. Good thing we don’t have to rely on me,” he paused for breath and to shovel some food into his mouth, then continued, “or we’d really be sorry, 'cos I got to tell you, I really suck in the cooking department. I always got take away when I could so I wouldn’t have to cook if I didn’t have to. Thought I can clean, even though I really don’t like to, so that’s not too bad, I guess…”
“Duo,” said Heero, trying to interrupt, but Duo babbled on.
“I don’t do laundry, though. Laundry and me, we don’t get along too well, I can tell you. I never did get the whole idea of that sorting clothes thing, and the water thing, you know cold, hot, what goes in what, so if you don’t do laundry, we’ll just have to…”
“Duo!” he said, more emphatically.
“What, 'Ro?” asked Duo, blinking innocently.
“We have a cleaning lady and we drop off the laundry, and yes, I will be doing most of the cooking. Stop chattering, you’re driving me crazy,” said Heero, at the edge of his patience.
“Sorry, 'Ro,” Duo grinned sheepishly. “I guess I’m just a bit nervous, you know, starting work and all. I just kind of talk, you know? Hey, am… am I going to be in your office with you? And with the slimy guy? 'cos you gotta know that I really don’t like him, and if I have to be alone with him…”
“No, babe. You don’t even go in the building unless we have to go see Simon. After today you’re just a name on a paper as far as W.E.I. is concerned, just a shadow,” Heero informed him. “You don’t ever have to worry about being around Mac, with or without me.”
“Not ever go in? But, why not?” he asked, feeling a bit hurt.
“You’re a shadow,” Heero repeated. “It’s like in the guild, but a bit different. We go into places that we need to investigate, you provide distraction, I do my job, we leave. But we don’t want everyone associating you with the company, because then they will be looking for me. And we don’t want that. I need to be able to investigate things discretely, you know?”
“Ah, I see. Well, that makes sense then,” Duo agreed. “I look pretty, dumb and available. You do the dirty work.”
“Not as dirty as some ofthe work we used to do,” said Heero. “I just investigate things now, find out any information that Sally needs to know about a new company, or where the trouble lies within our existing company holdings and then we take care of it by what ever means necessary, short of killing someone. And just like in the guild, it helps me if I have someone to draw the attention away from me while I am doing my job.”
“I guess that WuFei didn’t do that part so well,” quipped Duo.
“No, he wasn’t a distraction of any kind, just company. That’s what I’ve been lacking, my foil. And that’s where you come in, babe. While everyone is busy watching you, falling all over themselves to get a glimpse of you, I slide in, do what needs to be done, and then I get the prize at the end of the game,” said Heero smugly.
“The prize at the end of the game?” asked Duo, rather archly.
“That’s you, babe. Nobody gets you but me. Remember? You belong to me and no one else touches you,” said Heero, sudden menace in his voice.
“Yeah, 'Ro. I remember that lesson. I learned that one really well, right from the beginning. No one ever gets me but you,” replied Duo, darkness falling over his eyes and he put a hand to his face. “That lesson came through loud and clear.”
“I love you, Duo. You’re mine,” Heero said, then stood abruptly. “I’m sorry if I hurt you.”
“No. It was something I needed to learn if I was going to survive with you, and you let everyone else know it, too.” Duo turned to hide the quick flash of pain. Then he laughed and moved into Heero's arms and Heero held and kissed him and it was alright again.
“Let’s go do what we need to do, then you can take me to lunch,” Duo smiled up at him.
“Sure, babe. What ever you want,” agreed Heero. “You driving?”
“You bet, so fasten your seatbelt, Yuy!” Duo chortled, grabbing his keys and heading for the lift.
~*~
They arrived in one piece, with Heero's heart only having minor palpitations. Duo was only slightly scary behind the wheel. Heero was reasonably sure he wouldn’t intentionally kill the both of them, but he was wondering if teaching Duo to drive had really been such a good idea.
Having survived another “Duo Maxwell 500”, they took the lift to Heero's office first, as Heero said he needed to pick up some paperwork before they went back down to personnel. The office was empty, as Heero had promised, and they had only been there a few minutes when there was a knock at the door, then a young blonde woman stepped inside.
Heero was at his filing cabinet, back to the door and Duo was sitting slumped down at his desk, partially hidden by the computer monitor, so she didn’t notice him when she entered, not that she would have cared. She only had eyes for Heero Yuy and was determined that today was going to be the day she finally got him.
“Heero, I heard that you had come in, so I hurried up here to catch you before you left again,” she said breathlessly. Breathless was always how she felt around Heero. Also blonde and silly at times, but not today. Today all of her courage was screwed up. She had been pursuing him for so long now, and was sure he would finally give in today.
“What can I do for you, ‘Lena?” he asked, not turning around from his files.
Well, first it’s Relena, and second, you can turn around when I talk to you,” she said, slightly agitated. “It’s rather hard to talking to you when your back is to me, you know.”
Duo snickered quietly, but she didn’t hear, too intent on her prey.
“Yes, Relena,” said Heero, dutifully, turning and leaning against the cabinet, his arms crossed over his chest, a slight frown on his handsome face.
Not a good sign, thought Duo. No, not at all! Closed and unreceptive. Demands and ultimatums are not the way to talk to Heero Yuy.
“Well, Kelly Anne is having a big birthday bash this weekend, you know, Kelly Anne from personnel? And I’ve come to let you know that you’re going to take me. I won’t take no for an answer this time, Heero Yuy. You never participate in any of the company functions, or attend any personal parties that I know of, you just run off as soon as you can to that house where you live with those guys. That’s not a healthy way to live, guys all alone with each other, people might get the wrong idea about you,” she said, eyes flashing. “Oh, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, you always manage to dodge any invitations that are sent to you through the mail, office or otherwise, so I came up here in person to deliver this one.
“You’re not getting out of it this time. You are going to take me to that party and that’s final. I won’t take no for an answer. You need to stop being such a loaner. You should be going out on dates all of the time. It doesn’t look good for a man of your age, not to mention your position in this company, to be all alone. You need to have a girlfriend, and that is going to be me. We are going to start going out and doing things like a normal couple, Maybe we’ll even live together.”
And Duo burst out laughing, almost hysterical, clutching his sides. She looked so ridicules. Who did she think she was, issuing ultimatums to Heero Yuy? Telling him what he was and wasn’t going to do? Hell, even he didn’t do that. You asked Heero, and nicely, if you wanted to have even a small a chance of him doing as you wished, you didn’t tell him what he was going to do. No one ever told Heero Yuy what to do. Even the guild master gave his orders as requests.
“And just who the hell are you? What are you doing, lurking around in here? How did you get in here? This is a secure building,” she snarled, whirling on the laughing Duo, fists clenched, an ugly blush of red staining her face. “And how dare you laugh at me? Get out of this office at once, this is a private conversation!”
“Ah, Relena,” said Heero casually, moving over to put an arm around Duo, who leaned against him in a possessive manner. “I think that this is someone that you need to meet. This is my wife, Duo Maxwell-Yuy. I’m afraid you will have to discuss my weekend plans with him, but I’m pretty sure that he has plans for me that don’t include taking you to Kelly Anne’s party. Or even attending that party, for that matter.”
“Your… your wife? When… How… But that’s… that’s a…” she just couldn’t say it.
“As for when, we’ve been married since I was 15, he’s just been away for a while. And how, well in the usual way that people get married. And yes, my wife is a man. I’m gay, I’ve always been gay,” said Heero matter of factly, leaning down to kiss Duo. “So you see, I really don’t need a girlfriend, and I especially don’t need you as my girlfriend. I’m quite happy living with my wife. We do plenty of thing together, even if we’re not a ‘normal’ couple, so to speak.”
She turned an even uglier shade of red, made some unintelligible noises, then turned and dashed for the door, slamming through it and racing down the hall.
“Nice to have met you,” Duo's voice followed her in her humiliation. They’d pay for this, she’d tell everyone! But then, they would all know that she had been rejected by a gay man. She just couldn’t live with people knowing that. This was just too much. She could never say a word about it. She collapsed, crying in the lift, vowing to take her secret to the grave with her.
“Guess you’re pretty popular here, huh?” asked Duo, arching an eyebrow at Heero.
“That’s why I stay away as much as possible, all of the stupid girls around here that think I need a girlfriend,” said Heero, returning to his files, got what he needed and held out a hand. “Well, babe, let’s go announce my sexual preference and my choice of a partner to all of W.E.I., shall we? Next stop, 2nd floor, personnel office, the biggest gossip pit in the world.”
Heero smiled and put an arm around Duo, pulling him close for a kiss before they left his office.
They took the lift down and went into the personnel office where all of the young girls who sat up front immediately left off of what ever they were doing to stare in open admiration at Heero and to look suspiciously at Duo, who was standing very close to him, uncomfortable with all of the looks directed at Heero. He slid a hand into to Heero's and Heero squeezed it.
“Mrs Peters, I’ve brought Duo in. Simon said there was some paperwork that you would have ready for him to fill out? And I need to make a change to my file while I am here,” Heero said to the older woman who seemed to be in charge.
“Yes, Mr Yuy. I have paperwork for a Duo Maxwell-Yuy?” she said, a frown on her face as she noted the two men holding hands. “Mrs Heero Yuy?”
“That’s me,” Duo chirped happily, though she seemed to be ignoring him, attention focused on Heero.
“Yes, Duo Maxwell-Yuy. Mrs Heero Yuy,” Heero stated. All talking suddenly stopped.
“Mrs?” the woman repeated.
“Yes, he’s my wife. Is there a problem with that? We could bring in our marriage certificate, but I don’t think that you really need to see it for him to be employed here. The paperwork? What he needs to fill out and sign to put him on the payroll?” Heero prompted, starting to get tired of the woman’s stupidity.
“This is highly irregular, Mr Yuy,” Mrs Peters returned, trying to sound dignified in her outrage. “Such things aren’t done here.”
“Then maybe you should call upstairs to Simon and tell him that you have a problem with my wife. I’m sure that Simon would be more than happy to take time out of his busy day to come down here to your office to explain your job to you and to give Duo the paperwork that he needs to fill out to put him on the payroll, since he’s going to be working with me as my partner,” said Heero coldly, his icy blue eyes daring the woman to contradict him. “Now, are you going to do your job, or should I make that call?”
The woman blanched and started to tremble.
“I beg your pardon, Mr Yuy. No offence was intended, Mrs Yuy. Just one moment and I will have the papers that you need,” she said in a shaky voice, and quickly went into the back room to get the necessary documents.
“Good one, 'Ro,” Duo whispered, squeezing the hand he still held.
Heero smirked and pulled him close for a quick kiss, which brought a collective gasp from several now crushed and heartbroken young ladies who saw all of their hopes and dreams of one day becoming Mrs Heero Yuy, if they could win him away from Relena, being suddenly dashed to pieces right in front of them with that one gesture. Heero smirked again.
Mrs Peters came back out and handed them a folder filled with an assortment of paperwork and an ink pen and showed them to an empty desk. Duo sat and shuffled thought the papers, while Heero leaned back and admired the view.
“Hey, 'Ro,” Duo whispered to him after a bit, having shuffled through the papers at least twice.
“What, babe?” Heero replied, sitting up.
“What do I do with all of this crap? I don’t know half of the shit they want on these forms,” he complained, handing Heero the pile of half filled out forms.
“Let me see,” said Heero, taking the papers. “You don’t need that, that one is nonapplicable, put unknown, unknown, none of their business, you don’t need to answer that one. Duo, that’s not what that one meant. Don’t put that in there. They don’t need to know things like that. That’s none of their business. Here, sign here and put today’s date.”
Heero scratched through some answers, filled in some other things, changed a couple of others, then handed the papers back to Duo.
“Well, I thought that was a bit personal, and they didn’t give a very big box for an answer, but we do, every night, sometimes more that once,” said Duo and not too quietly.
Heero just shook his head, gathered the papers and took them to the counter, ignoring Duo's babbling.
“But Heero, the question was sex…” said Duo, innocently.
“Duo, enough,” replied Heero in exasperation, handing Mrs Peters the paperwork.
“But Mr Yuy, these aren’t complete,” she started to say as she looked through the papers.
“Look, he’s not applying for a job, he already has one. Do you want to know how many years he was a guild assassin, how many people he killed and if he did it with his bare hands? I thought not. You have what you need, that’s enough. Oh, and on my files, change my marital status to married and make my wife my beneficiary,” said Heero, and he turned away before the woman could say anything else. “Come on, Duo. I’m going to take you up to meet Sally. Then we’ll go have lunch.”
They walked out, still hand in hand, and Heero looked at his grinning lover, knowing he had enjoyed watching Heero disrupt the older woman’s placid life. They took the lift up to the 5th floor. It was a quiet place, compared to the personnel office, with large open spaces instead of cramped offices.
“Heero,” said a petite blonde woman. “You’ve been causing quite a stir around there today. And breaking a lot of hearts, from what I understand.” She eyed Duo speculatively. “Nice. He’ll do just fine. Just what we needed.”
“Trust you to already know what’s been going on, Sally,” said Heero. “Duo, this is Sally Po. She knows everything that goes on in this company. She takes all of the information that we gather and puts it all together to show how everything works. Our reports, all of our documents, almost everything ends up here in her hands before anything ever goes up to the head office. She’s probably Simon’s number one person.”
“No, not quite, but I’m working on it,” she said smugly. “Mrs Yuy, I don’t expect to see you very often, except perhaps on formal occasions, but it’s been a pleasure. No matter what all of the singles girls here seem to think, Heero's been needing you back at his side. Take care of him. He’s the best.” Then she smiled, turned and walked away.
“Wow. That was something. She really does know everything that goes on here, doesn’t she?” asked Duo, a little in awe.
“Yeah. Well, how about lunch? You can pay, now that you have a job,” said Heero as they took the lift to the ground floor and headed for the car park.
“But Heero, I haven’t even gotten paid yet! How can I pay? Anyway, that’s your responsibility, paying for stuff. I’m just the wife, here. My job is to spend all of your money,” retorted Duo.
They exited the building hand in hand, laughing.
