Chapter 7 of 7
Bardock entered the throne room with Raditz and Prince Vegeta, Nappa and Fasha close behind. They looked expectantly at the king, who turned on the loudspeaker. "Incoming message from Lord Frieza," he announced, his voice laced with sarcasm at the formality. The group tensed at hearing the despised name.
"Greetings, people of Vegeta-sei," Frieza's grating voice crackled over the loudspeaker, "How are my favorite monkeys today?" They could hear his mocking sneer and all their teeth clenched, their tails bristling.
"What is your news?" King Vegeta asked, ignoring his spite.
"I bring you good news," Frieza announced triumphantly, "I'm pleased to announce that Rina-sei no longer exists. I myself ridded the universe of those brainless pests, so you shall have no more trouble from them. From now on I expect you to show more competance, as they will no longer be in your way. Oh, yes, and I will be visiting your planet in three days. Only a routine inspection, nothing extraordinary." After a theatric pause meant to emphasize the importance of such an occasion, he concluded, "Make your preparations for my arrival, and have a pleasant day." The disdain and sarcasm that dripped from his voice could not be missed, then the connection was cut off.
King Vegeta allowed his warriors a moment of outraged seething.
"That fucking lizard destroyed the Rinajin because they were disobedient, uncontrollable, and he feared their mutany, as is his view of us," Nappa declared angrily, "As he sees us no differently, it's only a question of time before the Saiyan people fall to the same fate." The Elite paced pointedly among the group, all of whom exclaimed their agreement.
"This has already been discussed," the king said grimly, "We know what we have to do, and it will be done. You heard the lizard, get to our preparations. The real ones," he dismissed them. All but Bardock left the throne room, an unnatural, determined silence about them.
When they were alone, King Vegeta and Bardock as well remained in stony silence, quiet fury blazing in their dark eyes, their bristled tails twitching.
"Bardock," the king's deep voice said slowly, "Prepare the rebel army for a worthy reception. It's time." Bardock nodded and stood like an uncoiled spring to call for his next in command on his scouter. King Vegeta blocked his hand, his large fist curving around Bardock's own.
"Not just yet." His royal's slow, deep voice turned sultry as he pulled him close, a low growl resonating in his chest. Bardock's body reacted on cue to his heat, looking at him expectantly as his arms closed around the king. "I want you prepared for this battle," he said quietly, the glint in his piercing obsidian eyes flashing, "But first I want you relaxed, and later focused."
Bardock's gaze locked with King Vegeta's, not doubting his real thoughts. Their chances against Frieza were slim at best, which hindered not their courage. The king ran his fingers through Bardock's thick locks, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss full of promise. Three days and two nights of promise. The heat that pooled in Bardock's loins began to ache with need, a groan escaping him when he felt the king's own hardness grind insistingly with his own. His royal broke the kiss to stroke his cheek as though for the first time.
"Bardock..." The king's voice trailed off, his silence carrying more meaning than would any words.
"Sire," Bardock said quietly, "We are proud to be Saiyan. We will gladly die on our feet, but refuse to live on our knees." Bardock knelt at King Vegeta's feet, his hands placed adoringly on his hips as he buried his face in the source of his heat he so craved. "Only you have that privilege of me."
King Vegeta placed an approving, possessive hand on Bardock's head. Whatever be the outcome, it would be known that the Saiyan people of Vegeta-sei fought with pride and honor. Their destiny was sealed, and this was a privilege for which the king of Saiyans silently promised to show himself worthy.
