Dragonball: Unforgotten
Chapter Seventy-five
You hadn’t exactly fallen to sleep next to Gohan but you did rest. The entirety of your body felt far more relaxed than it had prior to your romp. And there was something about his expression when you had confessed about your still existing feelings for Goku that kept you in your place.
Gohan was the most accepting person you’d ever met. It was insane how much he was willing to accommodate or overlook for you. Hell, he’d offered (well more like stated he was going to) help you raise your unborn child. That was on top of the fact that he’d offered to make a child with you to begin with and yet you had turned him down; choosing to have his father’s child instead. You weren’t sure there was another living being in the universe that was as understanding and accepting as he was. And so you couldn’t help but lay in your spot and stare at his face.
He had such a serene look as he fought off the urge to sleep. He kept forcibly reopening his eyes as they tried to close. Like a little kid who was falling to sleep during a boring lecture. You ran your hand over the front of his hair where there was a wayward curl. His hair was very interesting to the touch; not quite human, not quite saiyan. He was caught between both worlds like you were, only his seemed more cemented. While you’d been raised human and mentally that had stayed, you were physically all saiyan. Gohan, however, walked the road right down the middle; he was a good blend between human and saiyan.
You shivered when you felt his hand brushing down your tail almost as though you were a pet. If it wasn’t for the fact that it felt really good and had you scooting down and snuggling into him to try to give him more to reach, you might have been offended by that. As it was the only thing that “offended” you was the fact that he stopped. When you realized that he’d actually gone to sleep you couldn’t blame him.
You smiled into his still clothed chest as you realized he must have tired himself out before he had even gotten to you. After all, it seemed that men spent more energy for a single climax compared to women. And Gohan had given himself multiple before he’d come to break up the cat fight. At least if your assumptions were right about what he’d been doing.
Gohan shook slightly as he woke himself up. He looked down to see you cuddled against him and smiled. His arm tightened around you as he took a deep breath. In that moment he had finally gotten a taste of a future worth looking forward to and he was hard pressed to give it up. Even to something as benign as sleep. After all, he had heard from you about how you’d gone to sleep once and woke up to everything you knew and love being different. Gohan wasn’t sure what he would do if he went to sleep only to find out that you had moved on to raise a family with some guy he didn’t know, that you had died, or a combination of the two. Though, as he thought about the former and he felt angers tart to tighten in his chest, Gohan had a feeling he wouldn’t handle it as well as you had.
“You can go to sleep Gohan, I’m not going to molest you or anything,” you teased quietly.
Gohan smiled in uncertainty. On one hand he wouldn’t mind if you did. He was looking forward to round two. On the other hand he was already tired. And the last thing he wanted to do was turn in a sloppy performance. He didn’t want to give you a single reason to consider anyone or anything outside of his and your relationship. Physical or otherwise.
He took in a deep breath. It turned sharp when he realized that he’d closed his eyes again. Gohan forced them open, blinking heavily a few times. He needed to fight through the urge to sleep. Even if you weren’t going to “molest” him he still didn’t want to miss a moment. He wanted you to fall asleep in his arms in order to help cement the bond like all of the romance books he’d been reading. You might have been on the fence when you said “too” but Gohan was determined to fix that. He had, at the very least, until prom was over. At which point you’d probably be going to Namek. He’d done a whole lot more in a lot less time than that but still if he had his way his dad would just stay dead. Or maybe forget about you again; that way at least Goten could have his actual father and Gohan could have a picturesque future with you.
He imagined the coming months as your belly swelled would be filled with opportunities to prove that he was a better spouse than his dad. And you’d do plenty of small things to remind him what all this current struggle was for. Like sing him to sleep, shower him with affection, be there to talk about school when he came home every day, help him keep Goten occupied, argue with him about what kind of crib would be best if that was even a thing…
He never realized that he’d sent himself to sleep with a smile on his face.
______________________________
You woke with an abrupt start when you felt someone else in your room. Though you hadn’t actively been trying to sense energy it was hard to ignore the sound of someone moving about the room. Or even just shifting actually. Your eyes snapped open as your heart beat so quickly you thought it was going to break in your chest. Somehow as you sat up to look around in the dim evening light, Gohan stayed asleep.
You nearly screamed when you saw that there was indeed someone in the room. It wasn’t because they were scary, exactly. It was more that you’d been taken by surprise.
The supreme Kai stood at the end of your bed. You could even see his punchable face as he looked at you. What the heck did he want? More importantly why hadn’t Gohan woken up?
“I’m keeping him asleep,” the purple skin man-thing answered.
You narrowed your eyes on him. That’s right - he invaded people’s privacy of their own thoughts. Bastard.
“There’s no time for that. I require your help.”
Suspiciously, you looked at the supreme Kai. “With what?”
Last time you had seen him had been just over a week and a half ago during the tournament. He had let Gohan get stabbed and picked clean of his energy. Then continued to prove his contradictory nature and incompetence with the whole Buu thing. Basically you did not have any fond memories of this creature.
“Not what...whom,” Supreme Kai corrected you, narrowing his eyes at your rather unflattering inner monologue.
“Goku?” You guessed.
Supreme Kai nodded. “Yes. We are having great difficulty getting him to calm down. He has become enraged with what he has witnessed on Earth and has since taken it out on the environment and any person foolish enough to go after him. At the rate he’s destroying what’s around him I fear that there may not be anything left for the countless generations that will join him in the afterlife.”
“And you want me to stop him?” You asked plainly.
The Supreme Kai nodded. It was pointless asking what upset him or why they thought you could calm him down. You had a feeling you knew exactly why Goku was causing mayhem. You looked down at Gohan as though he would suddenly wake up. He didn’t, he was sound asleep.
“But if a problem, I'm not dead,” you pointed out.
“Yes, normally that would be a problem as you are not a Kai or a Guardian. However, I believe that you have something that can be of use in this situation.”
Was this guy trying to get you upset? You weren’t exactly a fan of puzzle games when the puzzle came from someone you disliked.
“I believe you have a length of a soul chain. I’ve been told that you and Goku used it during your wedding ceremony.”
“Wait, are you talking about that red rope?” You asked, to which he nodded. “How’s that going to help?”
“As the name implies, when it’s used to bind two people together it links them in all ways through the soul. You and Goku were bound together in every way. If the conditions were right you could even bring him back to life without the dragonballs if you do wished. Though in your state, I would advise against it. Such an act would weaken you to the point where you might lose the child. However, utilizing the soul chain without attempting to bring him back to the land of the living will not cause you as much harm.”
“...are you sure?” You prompted the purple skinned man. “Because...based on what you’ve said, if you’re wrong and I lose the baby I bet you Goku really loses it.”
“I assure you that won’t happen. Now get ready. I will take you to him.”
Aaand you suddenly realized that you were still naked from the waist down atop your covers.
