Dragonball: Unforgotten
Chapter Seventy-eight
He said nothing as he created a crater around your body. His energy completely destroyed the ground to the point where there wasn’t even debris left in the air. You watched as he strained under his own anger, eyes flashing teal as his hair turned gold. It was interesting to see the super saiyan transformation up close. But he kept going. As anger took over his mind you watched in sort of a fascinated awe as his hair grew out to the point that it fell backwards and traveled down his back in spiky golden waves. You watched as his cranial ridge protruded and the golden short hairs of his eyebrows disappeared completely. His body increased in size as he did all of this, every muscle bulking up as it strained to handle the power he exerted. He almost didn’t fit into his loose Gi anymore. And it looked like he was trying to continue the power up but he plateaued after that.
“No one but me gets to touch you,” Goku fumed.
Everything about the transformations was fascinating. You could even say mystical. Almost like you were watching the birth of some kind of battle god. You ran your hand through his hair. You couldn’t actually reach the end from the position you were in. But you could feel his energy like static throughout his glorious mane. And though you couldn’t see it, his normally dark chocolate brown tail was as golden as his hair.
“Why?” You asked him quietly.
“Because you’re mine. I get to keep you, no one else.”
“...I wasn’t actually meaning that part but you do realize that I’m not your slave right?” You asked, despite the fact that what he said made you feel warm inside.
Your question confused him as he stared down at you. The look on such a transformed face almost came off as angry but you knew better than that. You realized he had no idea what connection you had just made.
“It’s...nice to hear that because I know that means you care. I don’t know why you care after all of this but yeah, I know you do. But you realize that I’m not a possession right? Like, I’m not a slave you can order around. Or keep away from people. Or just use whenever you want to make yourself feel better. I love the fact that you want to protect me and be near me all the time but I don’t like the fact that you’ve actually tried to kill your own son because of me. Not at all. I’m not a toy Goku, and you can’t be a kid who throws a tantrum anytime someone else gets more of my time than you. That just won’t work anymore.”
Goku kept quiet as he stared down at you. His tail curled around the back of his thigh and up over his hip before it hung down towards your lower abdomen. The tip made you squirm as he accidentally tickled you.
“The situation is messed up. I get why you’re angry. Trust me, I get it. But why aren’t you blaming me? Why aren’t you angry at me?” You asked him. “Why do you even still like me? I was going to let you go back and not remember. I was the one who put all those restrictions on you coming back. I was the one who started to be domestic with Broly to get him to calm down. I was the one who apparently put the thought of growing up in Trunks’ head. And I was the one who had sex with your son. But you blame them...not me. Why? All I do is bring chaos. **Why do you even want to be near me?”
Goku was quiet as he stared down at you with heavily accented eyes. Even though he didn’t have any eyebrows to speak of, his face was still very expressive. You watched as he went through confusion and then surprise. Almost as though he’d never considered being angry with you. Which was odd considering how quick he was to anger because of you.
“You never meant for any of that to happen,” Goku’s voice was deeper in this form, a bit rougher...more wild - even in a calmer state.
“No, I didn’t. Well except for letting you go back to the afterlife and not remembering part,” you confided.
Goku being down slightly and rubbed his nose along your cheek. You felt him breathing in and out. A shiver raced down your spine as you felt his hand travel across your body, stopping to rest around the side of your ribs as he slowly pulled back up. His golden tail wrapped around his body in a defensive position as he drew back to look down into your eyes.
“When we were young, you treated me like I was your hero. Someone who was strong enough to save you from everything. It made me feel good. But at the same time I was still just me - just Goku. You laughed with me and even though there were some serious situations, you made the time looking for the dragonballs fun. You stood up for me when I didn’t do it for myself; you hunted the dragonballs right beside me up until you couldn’t anymore. You didn’t make me do it for you or even expect me to do anything you weren’t willing to do. Most people just treat me like they don’t want to ruin something for me, like there’s something about me that they don’t want to change. Or like I’m some sort of kid in an adult body. One that’s good at fighting and surviving off the land but not much else. Not you. And you helped me learn anything I could think to ask even if it embarrassed you. No one else has ever been that open and honest with me. No one has ever treated me like an equal like that. You helped me grow even if I couldn’t remember that for the longest time. How can I blame you for trying to help others like you helped me?”
“But you’re okay with getting mad at the others for liking me?” You asked in honest confusion.
Goku nodded slowly. His energy slowly faded as did his transformation. The astounding golden glow faded. And what was left behind was the simple beauty that was a more mature Goku. Even though he didn’t look nearly as old as a human his “age” should have, he still was more mature than when you’d left him to go heal up. It would take you a while to get use to the unsettling changes in just his face alone.
“They should know better. Just because you’re nice to them doesn’t mean they can keep you with them. That’s my job. And like I said - I don’t like sharing. I didn’t like it back then, I don’t like it today, and I won’t like it tomorrow either.”
“How were they supposed to know better?” You challenged, clenching your fists. “Trunks is a kid, I got to know Gohan before he knew about our history, and Broly...is Broly. Ruling Trunk out because no, he’s a kid...that just means that to Gohan and Broly, you were a side note I’m my life at best.”
“When you wish me back, I’ll change that.”
You frowned and let out a deep breath. You shook your head slowly to negate that idea. As you did, Goku frowned. He had an instinctual feeling that he wouldn’t like where this conversation was about to go.
“You’ll be a big part of my life and you always will be, but Goku you really need to understand the fact that you have a wife that’s not me. Chichi...there must be something between you two right? Something good. Otherwise Gohan wouldn’t be so much like you at heart. And she obviously still held you in high regards even after you died or Goten wouldn’t have been in such awe over you. And now she’s pregnant again,” you pointed out. “She needs you.”
“You’re pregnant too. You need me,” Goku said in a strong, imploring tone.
“Yeah, probably,” you admitted. “And I want to be so selfish too. You make me want to be selfish. But I know better. I can...figure it out. But Chichi seems like the kind of person who needs someone else to provide for her and build her life around. Not to mention I bet getting a job on her own has never crossed her damned mind.”
Hey, just because you were trying to keep a Gohan and Goten’s family together by advocating for Goku to stay with Chichi did not mean that you liked the bitch. Nor did that make you forget the fact that she was a gold digging bitch who had slapped you.
“She was already putting money issues on Gohan’s conscious which isn’t cool. It’s to the point where I think he thinks I would want my husband to pay all my bills too. Like that was a factor in how people pick their partners.”
Goku looked at you cautiously as he took in all of the information. It was a bit hard after you mentioned Gohan with that much worry in your voice. All he wanted to do was push any and all thoughts of his adult son out of your mind. He didn’t want you to worry about anything other than the moment you were in. Especially not after Gohan betrayed him like he just had.
“Stop bringing him up,” Goku said in nearly a whisper, his hand around your ribs squeezing slightly as he tried to stay calm.
“Goku, I can’t do that. You know why I can’t do that.”
“No,” he denied, trying to ignore the abrupt change in topics. “Damn it, your my wife not his. That’s my baby inside of you, our baby. And nothing will change that.”
“...Goku,” was the heartfelt whisper that you managed to get out. “I love you. Even if I don’t know how you could love me after all this shit, I still love you. But...I love him too and it hurts. Because it should be wrong.”
“Yeah, because you’re supposed to stay with me.”
“Where? On the mountain where your wife and children live? In the capsule house that Broly is using as he gets to know the Earth? Or in my apartment where Gohan and I—“ you didn’t get to finish that thought.
Goku’s kiss was angry as he used his lips to shut you up. He knew what you were going to say. He just didn’t want to hear it. It was one thing to know and have seen what had happened between you and Gohan. He wasn’t prepared to hear you talk about it. Not even if that was just a mention. At least not again. Having the fact that you had sex with someone else thrown in his face when you wanted to know why he wasn’t angry at you was enough to last him a lifetime.
“Stop,” Goku said firmly as the kiss ended.
“Huh?”
“Stop bringing him up, stop thinking about him,” Goku elaborated as he pretty much growled at you.
You closed your eyes and counted to ten. He was probably a bit frazzled from everything that had happened recently. You couldn’t blame him for that. All of the changes had taken a toll on you too when you first got back to Earth. In a way, Goku was going through a similar situation. The whole situation was different when he finally got his memories back. And now he was having to deal with a lot of the negative emotions that you had gone through when you saw Chichi, Gohan, and Goten for the first time. Only it must have been worse for him given the fact that the person who was seemingly replacing him (in his eyes) wasn’t a stranger but his own son.
“I can’t do that Goku. He’s a part of my life too,” you said in a controlled tone.
“Not for long.”
You thumped Goku in the nose. “Hurt him and I leave.”
This time Goku’s anger showed through again. You felt his muscles tense up as he frowned deeply at you.
“You’re make too many rules.”
