A couple of weeks later, Gohan could be found walking around aimlessly in a thick grey fog. Looking for where his Koi was hidden from him.
“Trunks!!” He called out desperately for what seemed like the hundredth time, but the only response he got was the echo of his own sad voice. He walked on some more, trying to find a path of some kind within the haze he was lost in. He couldn’t explain how he knew or how he got there, but he just...*knew* that Trunks was in here somewhere, waiting to be found.
He then cupped his hands over his mouth, to heighten the sound of his calls. “TRUNKS!!!” He cried out again in hopes of finding him, but once again only the echo of his own voice answered him.
Gohan slowly lowered his hands to his sides in despair, feeling that at this point he would never find his aisuru. A few tears came into his eyes at the thought of it, but he wouldn’t let them spill over the rim. ‘Where are you, Koi?’ He thought to himself sadly.
Taking one more quick look at his hazy surroundings, Gohans spirit picked up when he saw the dark outline of a person, that looked *very* much like his Koi. The only difference being that he wasn’t so big anymore with the pregnancy, and that he seemed to be just as muscular yet slender as always before it happened.
“Hey, Trunks!” He called out happily as he quickly ran over to where he stood, Trunks didn’t move from the spot though. As he got closer ks bks became clearer, and Gohan could do nothing to contain his joyful excitement aside from speed up as he ran to his beloved.
Finally he made it to where his Koi still stood, he had his hands in his pockets with a look on his face that simply said how little he cared about anything, but Gohan didn’t notice this as he threw his arms around his Love in pure relief for having him back.
“Kami Trunks, I was so worried about you! When I couldn’t find you I think I almost went insane!” He cried out while still tightly holding onto him. Trunks removed his hands from his pockets, but he didn’t return the hug, and then he sneered at him, but Gohan still couldn’t see it as continued his rambling.
“I’m so glad you’re ok, Koi! And I’m so glad I found you!” He said joyfully while pulling away slightly to kiss him.
Trunks snobbishly turned his head away from him, and this had Gohan both confused and hurt. “Get away from me.” He said nastily whilill ill sneering at him. Gohan gasped in pure shock when he heard that.
“W-what?” He choked out in disbelief. “Why?” He asked quietly in a hurt tone. “What’s wrong, Koi?”
“DON’T CALL ME THAT!!!” He roared at him in rage. “I’m *not* your Koi! How could I be with the way you let me suffer and die!?!” He shouted furiously while still giving him the death glare.
Gohan immediately let go of him and back away, stunned at what his Koi had just said. Then the memory came back to him in such a force that it nearly knocked the wind out of him. Trunks really was dead. He died at the hands of his mother-in-law in a hospital bed while being given their last kiss.
He looked back at Trunks’ furious face and was completely speechless with what he was seeing. It was true, it *was* his fault that he suffered in his own home, and it was all his fault that he died. How was he supposed to apologise for something like that?
“T-Trunks....I-I’m sorry, I--”
“Don’t give me that bullshit!” He roared out while marching up to him threateningly. “You never cared about me at all, did you!?!? If you did then you would have heard me calling out for you and you would’ve saved me!! But you didn’t!!! You let that bitch of a mother of yours KILL ME!!!”
“Trunks, please, I never wanted you to get hur--”
“SHUT UP!!” He cried out in his fury, causing Gohan to wince as tears came into his eyes. “You can’t ever do anything right, can you!?!? First you give up on the fact that I’m alive and leave me in another country with no memories of who I am!! Then you claim to love me so much and promise to never let anything happen to me, but you let your sadist mother torture me!!”
More tears were coming out of Gohans eyes at his ballistic ranting, simply because it was all true. He always promised to protect him from anything that would ever want to hurt him, but he never did keep that promise. Trunks was always getting hurt because of him. All because of him.
Trunks then angrily raised his fist as if to punch him with it, but Gohan made no move to get out of the way or even block it. He had a right to be pissed off for all the pain he’d caused him, and in his mind he felt that he deserved whatever punishment he came up with.
He tightly closed his eyes and turned his head slightly to ready himself for the blow he was about to get. He was surprised when after a minute or two, he received none. Slowly opening his eyes to see what his pissed off Koi was doing, he was slightly shocked to see him just standing there calmly. His fist was down and he was just looking up at him innocently.
“I’d never say that to you, Go-chan.” He said lovingly, while slowly raising his arms and wrapping them around Gohans chest in a tight hug. He couldn’t help but tense up a bit in confusion at the new turn of events. Three minutes ago, Trunks was getting ready to beat the shit out of him for what he did, and now he was hugging him close as if he still loved him. What was going on?
“I-I don’t understand.” He said shakily, while not wanting to waste what he thought was his last chance at holding his Koi again, and quickly hugging him back and savouring the feel of him.
“You were just having a nightmare, that’s all.” He said warmly while turning his head to softly kiss his cheek. “I love you Gohan, and no matter what, nothing that ever happened was your fault.” He said sincerely.
He could’ve cried in relief when he heard that. “I-it was just a dream?” He asked while still shaking slightly.
Trunks nodded his head. “You still are dreaming too.” He replied.
“I-I am?” He asked quickly with his eyes widening. “H-how is this possible?” He asked, still in his shocked state.
Trunks chuckled at the question. “I’m dead, remember?” He said. “And apparently the dead can communicate to the living through their dreams.”
Gohan blinked. “They can?” He asked in complete amazement.
Trunks slowly nodded his head. “Yes, but I still had to get special permission from King Yemma to do this. I just had to see you.”
Gohan lowered his head in shame. “I don’t see why you would want to.” He said sadly with a few tears clouding up his vision again. “I c-couldn’t even save you.” He choked out while squeezing him tighter.
“Gohan, you have to stop thinking that whenever something bad happens, it’s automatically your fault, because it’s not!” Trunks said harshly, while pulling away slightly to brush away the tears that came down his Koi’s face with his thumbs. He just had to make him see that his death wasn’t his fault. That was the whole point his visit.
“Don’t forget our deal, aisuru.” He said softly while planting a gentle kiss on his trembling lips. “You can’t blame yourself if I say it’s not your fault, and I have to do the same.”
Gohan let out a shaky sigh when he heard that. “I-I know, but--”
“No buts, Gohan.” Trunks said determinedly. “I said it wasn’t your fault, so it’s not your fault. Okay?”
Gohan hesitated before he answered, but he still slowly nodded his head yes. He couldn’t go back on the deal he’d made with his Koi, or else he would start blaming himself for what happened with Chi-Chi again.
Trunks smiled brightly when he agreed with him. “I win.” He chirped. Gohan couldn’t help but chuckle at him.
“So, have you seen our babies yet?” Trunks asked, to quickly change the subject.
He quickly nodded his head yes, not realising how his prince was making him forget the original topic of discussion. “Yes I have, and you’ll never believe this, but they’re paternal!” He said in a proud fatherly voice.
Trunks blinked in confusion. “Paternal? How’s that possible?” He asked in an awed tone of voice.
Once again Gohan chuckled. “Bulma said that when she created the test eggs from your DNA, she must’ve accidentally added an extra one into your system, when you were injected with the real things to get you pregnant.”
Trunks just flat out started to laugh when he heard that. He just thought it was funny. “L-leave it to the *only* time kasaan makes a mistake for us to end up with something better!” He said joyfully before he started kissing him passionately on his lips.
Gohan kissed back with just as much passion and happiness that his whole body completely ached. He was so glad that he had his Koi with him right now. If this was a dream then he never wanted to wake up from it.
Suddenly Trunks broke off the kiss, and looked down in sadness. This had Gohan *more* than a little worried considering how happy he just was. “Tru-chan? What’s the matter?” He asked with his voice so full of concern that it almost broke.
Trunlowllowly looked back up at him, and Gohan could clearly see there were tears in the brim of his eyes. “W-what’s wrong Koi?” He asked again, more determined to find out what could make his aisuru cry. Those didn’t look like tears of joy for their children, but more like tears of pain and sadness.
“I-I don’t think I can do it again, Go-chan.” He whispered with regret in his voice as his tears slipped down his cheeks.
“Do what again, Tru-chan?” He whispered to him softly, a sinking feeling he knew what his prince was talking about.
Trunks sniffled a bit. “I-I know that you want more kids, but I-I just can’t get pregnant again! I-It hurt so much a-and I was so afraid!” He cried out while burying his face in Gohans chest. He knew that his Koi wanted more children, and he did too, but he was just so afraid of the idea of getting pregnant again. What if something bad happened that would not only take his life, but the life of the child he would carry? His babies almost died, and he got an up close look at why women scream when in labour, and it scared him big time.
Gohan rubbed his back comfortingly and kissed his forehead. He understood why his Koi wouldn’t want to get pregnant again, so he wouldn’t push the subject. He would do it for him, but he couldn’t get injected with Bulma’s test eggs to get pregnant. How would he work when his stomach came out to the point where he could no longer see his feet? Only Trunks could do it, but they had just had twins, so he would have to try and make him see that he didn’t care and that two was enough.
“It’s alright, Trunks. I understand perfectly, you don’t have to worry about it.” He said to his prince soothingly. “I wouldn’t want anymore if you didn’t anyway.” He said while kissing his forehead again lovingly and running a hand through his silk hair.
“I’m sorry, Go-chan.” Trunks whispered to him softly, with regret still in his voice.
“Don’t be sorry, Koi. I wouldn’t want you to get pregnant again if it scared you anyway.” Gohan replied while still rubbing his back comfortingly.
Trunks sniffled a bit, but didn’t say anything else. They both just stood there, holding each other in a warm and loving embrace for what seemed like hours. It felt so good and right to be in each others arms like they were now. So warm and safe that the very idea of pulling away from it would just about kill them in their misery.
Unfortunately, Trunks couldn’t stay. “I have to go now, Go-Koi.” He said softly while pulling out of his Koi’s hold with regret and backing away a few steps.
Gohans tears just flowed down his face *hard* when he heard that, and he tried to walk towards him to stop him from leaving, but he unfortunately found that he couldn’t move his legs from the spot. “W-why can’t you stay!?!” He cried out miserably.
“You have to wake up now.” He explained sadly, he wanted nothing more than to just stay with him forever and never leave his warm arms, but he had to go if he would be wished back to life. “You’ve been asleep for almost two days now.”
He gasped in slight shock when he heard that. He was sleeping for two whole days? He didn’t care. That was nothing compared to this. “P-please don’t leave me again.” He begged shakily, with his tears of anguish just flowing nonstop down his face.
That did it. Trunks couldn’t take anymore of his pleas and he quickly ran back to him and threw his arms around Gohans neck and a tight grip. Gohan was quick to return the gesture as he wrapped his arms around Trunks’ slender waist, so tightly that he almost crushed the younger demi to him. Trunks didn’t care though. He may know that he has to leave but that didn’t mean he wanted to, and the pain brought on with that knowledge just killed him on the inside.
“Promise me something, Go-chan.” He whispered into his ear, his eyes squeezing shut through the pain that he felt at having to leave again.
“Anything, Tru-chan.” Gohan choked out, with his own eyes held tightly shut through the equal amount of pain that he felt.
“Promise me that you’ll be the first person I see when I get wished back?” He asked shakily, while starting to feel his body disappear into nothingness as he was being sent back to Other World.
“Yes, Koi! I promise! Just stay with me a little longer!” He begged, while his tears flowed through his tightly shut eyelids. He could feel Trunks’ form get lighter in his arms, and he didn’t want to let him got just yet.
“I’m sorry Koi, but I have to go now.” Trunks said sadly as he finally vanished into thin air.
Gohan immediately shot his eyes open as he woke up from his dream, and was surprised to find himself in a bed instead of the vast space of fog that led to nowhere, while hugging his pillow as if it were Trunks.
He remembered now. He was still onboard the ship with his tousan and Vegeta, on their way to Namek to wish his Koi back to life.
Gohan couldn’t help but bury his face into the pillow and sob with the fact that it wasn’t Trunks he was holding, and how he had to wake up from such a wonderful dream so soon. He knew that the dragon would have to bring him back to life this time since he was actually dead, but there was still the fear that he still wouldn’t do it, clawing at the back of his skull like some kind of parasite.
He was so afraid that it would be just like the last time they came to Namek, in hopes of bringing Trunks back to life, only to have those hopes shatter into a million pieces when he would say no.
He knew that this time there would be no mistakes, and that the dragon would have to grant their wish, but he still felt.......fear. That he was wasting his time with some blind hope that meant nothing in the long run of things.
The only thing he could be thankful for, while he sobbed miserably into the pillow, was that Chi-Chi was finally dead and gone.
**************************************************************
Vegeta looked out the large window that led into the darkness of space as casually as if it were an everyday thing. Most people on earth would be thrilled at having the opportunity to go into space, but when you’re a prince who’s done it a million times before, it was nothing new.
Off in the distance he could see New-Namek approaching, just another few hours and they’ll be there thanks to the heightened speeds this thing had. He couldn’t help but smirk with the fact that it was his mate who could continually improve on such a flawless machine one hundred times over and one hundred times again, allowing them to get to their destination quicker.
He then looked over at Kakkarot, who was sitting nearby with a thoughtful look on his face. He knew what it was about. He was thinking about the shrew he used to call his mate, and whether or not he should feel guilt for letting the prince take her life.
**FLASHBACK**
“Why do you need me to go with you, Vegeta?” Goku asked for the millionth time that day since they left the brats. Just like the million times before them, Vegeta just said nothing as they continued their flight.
Time was running out for them to find Goku’s former mate. They couldn’t sense her for some odd reason and she could be all the way across the planet with how long this was taking. So far it had been about two and a half hours, and still no sign of the bitch who would dare try to take the life of a saiyan prince.
Goku just sighed. He wanted to go to Capsule Corp and check on his grandchildren, but Vegeta insisted that they do this first, whatever it was.
Suddenly the sky became almost pitch black, and this surprised the both of them since it was the sign that Shen Long was being summoned. Off in the distance they could see his glowing form appear, and were both suddenly happy for their luck.
“Hey, Vegeta! We could just wish that Trunks gets all better and then go and find Chi-Chi later!” He said happily, thinking that it must’ve been a friend who summoned the dragon since no-one else has access to the dragon radar.
The saiyan prince simply smirked at him as they quickly flew to their new destination with their wish already in mind.
When they got close enough, they both saw an offending sight that made Vegeta change into a super saiyan in his rage. Chi-Chi was at the foot of the dragon, waiting for it to notice her so she could make her wish.
Goku also powered up into his super saiyan form, and flew faster to stop her from making whatever wish she was about to make, knowing that it *couldn’t* be good.
**“MAKE YOUR WISH!”** The dragon bellowed as impatiently as ever.
Just as she opened her mouth to wish that Trunks die and never be brought back to life, Goku dived in and grabbed her, quickly covering her mouth and restraining her before she could do anymore harm. She struggled in his hold with all of her strength, but no matter what she did it was almost nothing to him.
Vegeta landed just after he did, and wasted no time with announcing the wish that he wanted to be made. “I wish for you to heal my son!!” He called out loudly to the eternal dragon. Chi-Chi made rage filled screaming noises from under Goku’s hand when she heard that, but he just ignored her.
There was a pause for a moment before the dragon finally answered in his booming voice. **“IT CANNOT BE DONE!”**
Both Vegeta’s and Goku’s face’s dropped when they heard that in pure shock. Chi-Chi started to laugh.
“W-why?” The saiyan prince choked out before regaining his composure. “WHY THE FUCK NOT!?!?!” He demanded.
**“THOSE WHO ARE DEAD CANNOT BE HEALED!”** Shen Long answered simply.
Neither of them knew what to do at that point. Trunks was dead? What about their grandchildren? “Are our grandchildren alive?” Goku asked in a dead tone of voice, praying that at least they survived the attack.
**“YES!”** Was all hid fid for his answer. **“NOW MAKE YOUR WISH!”** He demanded angrily for being kept waiting like this.
Chi-Chi stopped laughing when she heard that the children had survived, but she couldn’t help her angered scream when Goku told the dragon that they had no wishes, and she watched it go back into the dragon balls she’d carefully collected and scatter across the globe again.
She then watched as the sky changed back into it’s normal bright blue colour and everything else went back to normal. She looked over at Vegeta who slowly turned to face her, with murder written in his eyes for what she did. Looking into his eyes was by far the most frightening thing she’d ever seen, but she knew to not show her fear. Goku was here and he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to her. She hoped.
“Kakkorot, put her down and come over here.” The saiyan prince demanded in his royal tone of voice.
“W-why?” He asked cautiously, afraid that he would kill her he he let her go. Not that he would blame him for it mind you.
“I would like to ask you for something.” Was all he got for an answer.
Goku looked down at his ex-wife hesitantly before placing her on the ground and going over to where Vegeta still stood. Chi-Chi made no move to follow him in the fear of being near the very *strong*, very *angry* saiyan.
“What is it, Vegeta?” Goku whispered when he made it up to him.
He just spoke in a voice that would ensure that Chi-Chi would hear him. “Did your divorce papers to that onna get through yet?” He asked.
Goku blinked in confusion. “Um, not for another month or so.” He said. “Why?”
Chi-Chi gulped in fear, wondering what the ouji was getting at.
“That means that the two of you are still mates.” Vegeta explained. “And by Vegeta-sei law, regardless of the fact that I am its prince, I must ask for your permission before I kill her.” He stated.
Both Goku and Chi-Chi gasped when he said that. “Goku you can’t let him kill me!” She cried out fearfully, hoping that he would have her spared.
Goku looked from her to Vegeta and back again, trying to figure out what was best to do at this point. She killed Trunks, tried to kill their grandchildren, poisoned the three of them with drugs in an attempt to have him raped. Controlled, manipulated, tortured and lied to him. Did she deserve to live after all of that? Did he even have a right to decide on that?
“Well? What’s your answer, Kakkarot?” The saiyajin no ouji demanded impatiently.
He looked back at Chi-Chi’s eyes, that were now full of tears with the fear of being killed, and strangely enough found almost no mercy for what she had done.
“Just make it painless, Vegeta.” He said while turning away from her, he just couldn’t stand looking at her for what she tried to justify as being right.
Vegeta made a low growling sound for having half the fun of the kill being cut out of the activity, but he didn’t say anything as he raised his arm with his index finger pointed straight at the onna and prepared to fire.
“Wait, Goku please don’t!!!!” She screamed out just before his blast soared right in between her eyes and sent her flying backwards and landing unnaturally, with a few sick sounding cracks, signalling that some of her bones had broken in the fall. Goku cringed when he knew that she had been blasted, and felt sorry that she had to die by his word.
Vegeta was not finished though. He marched right up to where her bloodied and broken body lay and readied another Ki blast in his hand. Goku noticed this and became curious as to what he was doing.
“What are you doing Vegeta?” He asked while still trying to figure out why he would want to do anything else to her now that she was already dead.
He just turned to him and sneered. “This bitch killed my brat!!!” He shouted with so much hate in his voice. “She doesn’t deserve any piece of mercy for it! I’ll see to it that she doesn’t even get a proper burial for what she did to my family today!!” He roared out in rage before blasting her with all the power that he had in his entire body.
Goku didn’t stop him. His only son was dead, and this time he could take his anger out on something, so he thought it would be best if he did it.
Vegeta just blasted that same spot for almost ten minutes in his blind rage. He just couldn’t believe that, that bitch had killed his son! And in his mind, she got off on it easy too. ‘Baka sentimental Kakkarot!’ He thought furiously as he flew into the air just to get a better aim at his shooting spot, and when he was finished all that was left was a giant smoking crater in the ground, with no sign of a body.
He just hovered there for a moment, panting in slight exhaustion from the energy he’d used up. Goku was still on his spot on the ground, feeling the older saiyans rage and pain as he could do nothing but take it out on a dead body.
**END FLASHBACK**
Vegeta looked back at where Goku still sat, and then noted how much time had passed since he’d started thinking about the dead shrew. “Kakkarot.” He called out to get his attention.
The taller saiyans head shot up to look at him when he called, but he didn’t reply.
“Perhaps you should wake that brat of yours, he’s been sleeping for days now, and we’ll be landing in less than an hour.” He told him to get him to get Gohan up.
Goku slowly nodded his head in agreement and got up from where he sat to wake up his son. The only reason why he was left alone to sleep for so long was because he felt that maybe his son just needed some time alone, and he wasn’t getting too much of that back home where everyone just wanted to be there for him to speak to him or comfort him. Sometimes what people don’t realise is that it actually *can* be good for a person in mourning to have a few minutes of silence, just to themselves to get their thoughts straight. Gohan only seemed to get that once he got onboard the ship, so Goku just left him alone.
Walking down the metallic hallway, he was almost to his son’s room when Gohan walked out and calmly headed for where he stood. “We’re about to land soon, right?” He asked in an almost saddened tone of voice.
He didn’t bother to ask why he finally decided to wake up after so long as he just nodded his head yes. He then took in how badly his oldest son looked. Despite how much he was sleeping for through this entire trip he had bags under his red eyes, with his hair more dishevelled than normal, and the rough looking black stubble under his chin suggested how much he needed a shave.
“Maybe you should have a shower--”
“I will when we get Trunks back.” He said quickly while walking past him and down the hall to the front of the ship where Vegeta was still waiting for them to return.
He was pretty surprised to see the shape that he was in, but didn’t comment on it as Gohan walked passed him and up to the large window to where Namek could now be easily seen. He placed his palm on the thick glass and just prayed. ‘I’m coming Trunks. You’ll be back with me soon and I *will* be the first person you see when we bring you back.’ He thought to himself determinedly, while staring in the direction of New-Namek longingly.
The one thing that he prayed for the most on this trip, was that Porunga would bring him back this time, and that he wouldn’t have to go for the rest of his life without his beautiful Koi in his arms.
