Love's Recompense

AN: Last one. Lemony goodness in it. And it's the longest one. So, enjoy and thanks tons for stumblimg all the way here. Its also a kinda different from the others. It's in sections. And its got some psuedo-lemony goodness in it. You'll also be pleased to know that this is the last finished short. So thanks for reading all the way to the end. Congrats, you've given everyone in a fifty mile radius at least three cavities. ^_~

Love's Recompense
1x5

It had been a year since he'd gone into hiding. He had tried working for the Preventers, but after six months he turned in his resignation and no one had heard from him since then. He'd just left, no reason, just gone. And for the past year, Heero Yuy had pined silently away for the loss of his closest friend, Chang Wufei.

Remembrance

Wufei looked out the window of his apartment, watching the sunrise. Sighing, he ran a hand through his sleep-tousled hair. He'd let it grow out since he'd left the Preventers, and it hung in a long tail down his back. Shaking his head to clear out the cobwebs of thoughts about his past, he made his way to his bathroom to prepare for his day.

Two hours later, he was riding down the highway on his black Suzuki motorbike, heading for work. Unbidden, his mind reminded him of the first time he'd rode his bike, of the firm arms that had been locked around his waist and of the deep cerulean eyes that had held captive his own onyx orbs. Growling in frustration, he gunned the engine and increased his speed, shoving that memory away. He wasn't going to wallow in self-pity even if it was the anniversary of the last time he'd seen the beautiful face of the man who's cerulean eyes had held his own their caged slaves.

Heero shuffled the papers on his desk, watching the clock and wishing the day was over. He reorganized his reports for the umpteenth time and then he gave up on concentrating on work. From inside the left-hand top drawer, he pulled a worn Polaroid photo and smiled slightly. It was a picture, taken a year and a half ago, of himself, a black Suzuki motorbike, and his best fried and lover, Chang Wufei, sitting on said motorbike, laughing and smiling.

Heero sighed and put the picture back. It hurt to think that Wufei had disappeared without a trace. Grunting with dissatisfaction, he booted up his laptop and tried to work.

From inside the shelter of the break room, Duo slammed his coffee cup down on the counter. “Quatre, come on man, did ya find our favorite justice obsessed Dragon-boy or what?” He asked, looking over at Quatre with hope filled violet eyes.

Quatre grinned at Duo. “I went one step further. The owner of the company Wufei was working for was a friend of my Father's. Wufei's on his way into town at this very moment.” He said gleefully as he beamed a jovial grin at Duo.

“Yeah! Now that's what I call great work Quat!” Duo exclaimed hugging the taller man.

“Well, it's up to you to get Heero to come to the Party tonight though.” Quatre reminded his enthusiastic friend.

“No prob. Hee-man made me a promise last week he'd come tonight. He can't back out.” Duo gloated grinning ear to ear.

“You're positively fiendish Duo. Positively fiendish.” Quatre conceded taking a sip of his tea and allowing a smug smile of satisfaction to grace his normally docile features.

Reunion

Wufei adjusted his collar again, feeling stiff and uncomfortable in his black tuxedo. He'd been more than a little surprised when his Boss had told him he was taking a business trip for her and that he wasn't getting out of it. And that was how he'd ended up on a plane for three hours and then stuck at a boring dinner social.

He was about to find his host and take his leave, when across the ballroom, he saw him. Dark tousled hair, wide shoulders, slim waist, left ear pierced with a single onyx stud, and piercing cerulean eyes that could hold ones heart hostage for eternity. Wufei saw Heero all that distance away, and his heart fluttered. He fell in love with the 'Perfect Soldier' all over again. Averting his eyes from Heero's, he stood transfixed in one spot, trying to quell his feelings.

Heero's jaw had dropped as he had looked over the ballroom and seen the one he loved. Long, black, silky hair pulled back in a ponytail, slim, well-toned body clung to in all the right places by a midnight black tux, and onyx eyes that called to his wounded soul.

He'd almost lost himself, seeing Wufei across the ballroom. He'd fallen head over heels again in that instant. Gathering his courage, he made his way across the massive room, filled with people keeping his goal always in sight.

Wufei remained stock-still as he watched Heero make his way over to him. His heart caught in his throat and he would have run, but his feet felt as though they were cemented to the floor. He held his breath in keen anticipation as Heero reached him, his onyx orbs meeting cerulean spheres and staying locked.

Heero stood two feet from Wufei, so close he could reach out and touch the other man if he wanted. He took a deep breath and said one solitary word: “Why?”

Lowering his gaze Wufei sighed and pointed to the patio. He beckoned Heero to follow, knowing full well that Heero would. Once outside he sat down on a bench, shivering as Heero sat down beside him.

“Why Wufei?” Heero asked again, his cerulean eyes seeking their onyx counterparts.

“Relena.” Was Wufei's one word answer as he tore his eyes away from Heero's.

“What did she do to make you leave without telling me goodbye?”

“She promised me she'd kill you if I didn't leave. Your life was at stake and I didn't want you to die because…”

“Because why Wufei?”

“Because I love you.” Wufei whispered meeting Heero's gaze with trepidation.

Heero smiled at Wufei and brushed a stray lock of soft obsidian silk behind his ear. “I love you too.” He whispered back, wrapping his arms around Wufei's neck and then pressing his lips against the Chinese man's, gently kissing him.

Wufei melted into Heero's gentle touch, mouth opening in supplication as Heero's tongue asked for entrance. He moaned softly, letting himself be pushed back against the bench. He whimpered softly at the loss of Heero's lips, wishing the kiss had not needed to end so they could breathe.

Heero relaxed his arms around Wufei and stood up, taking the other with him.

Wufei sensing Heero's intentions followed and then took the lead, heading through the ballroom, out the front door and to his bike. Silently he pulled two helmets from the storage compartment and handed one to Heero. He swung one long leg over the bike and waited, hoping Heero would join him.

Snapping the helmet on, Heero climbed aboard the motorcycle, sliding his body instantly into the right position, arms wrapped tight around Wufei's waist. His heart beat rapidly as the powerful machine roared to life. He relaxed slightly and reveled in the feel of Wufei's body against his as they sped off into the night.

Reconciliations

Wufei clung to Heero's hand like a drowning man to a buoy as he led the way to his hotel room, praying all the time that if it was a dream, may he never wake.

Heero followed Wufei, his grip on the other's hand never slacking. Once they were in the room, he pushed Wufei against the locked door and kissed him, letting his body express what words could not.

Wufei squirmed against Heero, his arms wrapping tight around the other's body, pulling them tighter together. He slowly pulled his lips away from Heero's, gazing into the love-filled cerulean orbs and feeling his heart swell with pure happiness. He kissed Heero's cheek, took his hand and led the way to the bed. He sat down, pulling Heero down onto him, letting himself end up on is back, Heero above him. He sighed softly and just gazed into Heero's eyes, running his fingers through the other's unruly brown hair, and soaking in the feeling of complete rightness he felt at that moment.

Heero nuzzled Wufei's neck, nibbling on the tender flesh and reveling in the soft moans his actions drew from his love. He rolled to the side of his lover and wrapped his arms around him holding him close, his chin resting on the other's shoulder, inhaling the soft scent of vanilla and Wufei's own distinct scent. He was so content to just lay there and never move again, but he knew, that inevitably they would have to talk about what had happened.

Wufei sighed and wrapped his arms around Heero's waist, ordering his suspicious mind to quell its fearful thoughts. He pushed all thoughts and worries about Relena Peacecraft from his mind and concentrated on just enjoying the feel of Heero's warm body snuggled up next to his. He smiled and relaxed into Heero's body, letting all his fears just melt away.

Heero looked up at an angle and met Wufei's eyes. He smiled and kissed his lover's cheek, before settling in beside him and closing his eyes. He let himself slip into a comfortable position and he just held on tightly to Wufei, his arms locked tighter than steel around his love's neck, but not choking him. “Aishiteru.” He whispered softly, running his fingertips along Wufei's hairline, and pressing a soft kiss against his love's neck.

“Wo ai ni, Heero.” Wufei whispered back, kissing the top of Heero's head, and holding him even closer to his body and just forgetting that another world existed outside the world he held in his arms.

Heero smiled against Wufei's neck and let himself drift off into sleep in his lover's arms.

Wufei smiled and closed his eyes, letting himself fall into sleep, feeling truly content and happy for once in a long, long time.

Resolutions

After a few days, of hiding out in Wufei's hotel room and avoiding the real world, Heero and Wufei came to the decision that Wufei would leave his job and return to the Preventers. It was also decided that he would have his stuff shipped to Heero's and that he would move in with his love, despite his fear that Relena would wreck vengeance for his actions.

Wufei kept his arm around Heero's waist as they walked into Preventers' headquarters. He was a little taken back as the entire office broke into applause and cheered for them. He gave them a curious look and just smiled, shaking his head at their actions, as he followed Heero to his office.

Heero led Wufei into the break room, only to find Duo, Quatre, And Trowa already in there, with a huge cake that said 'Welcome Home Wufei' on it. He smiled at his gathered friends and hugged his lover.

Wufei looked at the cake and laughed. “You schemed this whole thing. I should have known that when I had to come to a dinner social in this town. You got me Quatre, but I'm glad you did.” He said wrapping his arm tighter around Heero's waist and kissing his cheek.
'
Heero blushed slightly and then grinned. Turning in Wufei's arms, he frenched his lover long and deep, before releasing his love's lips and looking at the assemblage that was clapping. His blush deepened and he just smiled.

“Alright, now that we five are all here again, let's celebrate!” Duo cried, popping a bottle of champagne and filling five classes.

“Agreed Duo. Agreed.” Wufei said, grinning at his friends and letting his happiness be known.

Heero held onto Wufei and flashed the 'V' for victory sign at Duo, grinning madly at the ex-pilot of Shinigami, and trying not to laugh as Duo choked on his champagne.

They celebrated throughout the day, just enjoying being all together, reminiscing about the old days when they were flying their Gundams, and then about the missions that had done since joining up with the Preventers.

And so it was that love regained what it had lost, and all worked out to please everyone, but one woman who ended up in the loony bin…
