It took me a long time to update. This chapter is kind of short.
To Cara9001 Thank you :) Some of your questions are hard to answer but I can answer them in the context of the story :) I will say that Raditz loved Vegeta for what it was worth but his understanding of love was warped, and so was Vegeta's. Thanks again I'm glad you're liking my story!
Thank you to all who read this, hope you enjoy :)
::: Noted ::: Vegeta and Goku got a wake up call at around seven in the morning, which they ignored until, twenty minutes later, two servants came to their door, opened it (to a shocked Goku and very disgruntled Vegeta), and insisted on the two men dressing immediately. Their meeting with some officials would be strictly at nine and they could not be late. After threatening to blast the two servants, who didn't seem very nervous about their lives from Vegeta's threat, they agreed to leave but said they would be back in forty-five minutes. Goku yawned and Vegeta cussed, but both of the men headed to the shower together, groggily, and got ready for their day. "My schedule's really messed up," Goku yawned again, sleepily washing his hair. Vegeta only grunted in response, waking up more and more by the second. Goku asked, "So, I do have to go to this thing? I thought I was gonna be able to train." Annoyed, but too tired to act on it, Vegeta answered, "Yes, I forgot, you have some reward money." After getting out of the rest of their silent shower and drying off the two men spent some time finding some suitable clothes. Vegeta was dressed with fifteen minutes to spare before the men would show back up to take them where they needed to go, but Goku sat down on the bed and had on only a shirt. He complained that his stomach hurt. Vegeta didn't pay him any mind and instead said, "Idiot, you're just hungry." Goku shook his head, "I don't think so, I mean, I'm always hungry, but this doesn't feel like that." Vegeta eyed him and noticed that he was clenching onto his abdomen rather strangely, Goku added, "It's not just my stomach..." "What do you mean?" Vegeta said, more out of curiosity than concern, Goku could handle a little stomach ache, couldn't he? All of the sudden Goku doubled over, hitting the floor, shaking. "Kakarot!" Vegeta knelt by his side, "What's the matter with you?!" Goku only moaned, not being able to voice the tremors in his body which seemed to be growing by the second. Vegeta called his name again, unsure of what else to do. Goku's agony seemed to go on forever and he began to pant and shake his head, unable to answer any of the questions Vegeta was asking him. Finally he let out an agonizing yell and a tail shot forth from inside of him, twitching and swinging on it's own accord since Goku passed out from the pain. "Good gracious!" Vegeta hollered, alarmed. "Your tail! Your tail, Kakarot!" His words fell on deaf ears, however. Vegeta hesitated, not having expected such a turn of events. He nimbly reached out to grab Goku's tail and ran the length of it through his fingers in mild jealousy. His thoughts were not at all on the well-being of the other man, but instead, on the possibility of his regaining his own beloved lost appendage. Goku came to a few moments later, feeling much better. His hazy eyes looked up to see Vegeta staring at something, and he asked him what he was looking at, but Vegeta only huffed and stood up, crossing his arms as he moved away from the younger man. Goku caught a glimpse of movement out of the corner of his eye and upon turning further, delighted in seeing his tail back. He yipped and sat up, grasping it himself, his smile beaming. He began to celebrate when he noticed Vegeta had gone into the bathroom again and shut the door behind him. He knew he must be pretty upset so he left him alone. He couldn't help his own excitement! Surely Vegeta would get his tail back soon, too. After a few minutes Goku finished dressing, just in time for the two servants to come knocking at their door again. Vegeta was torn from his solitude in the bathroom and wouldn't look at Kakarot, who pouted but could do nothing about the situation so they put on some shoes and followed the two men through the mansion. One of the men explained, "Master Renji is already in the arena where the briefing will take place." Before Vegeta could stop him, Goku asked, "Is there gonna be any food?" The servant turned to him as they walked and answered coldly, "No." The other servant said, "There might be coffee and cakes," in a positive tone. Goku was hopeful. They went on quietly and quickly from there. When they came around a corner the room opened up immensely and across the way was their entrance, the two servants motioned for the man standing at the door. He said something into a communicator on his wrist, but never actually addressed them. Finally the servant said, "You will be introduced as you enter and asked to sit according to your assigned seats. Farewell, gentlemen," and with that the two servants left and the doors of the meeting were opened by two more servants from the inside, it seemed the men outside the room were there for security purposes. As they walked inside side by side Goku was taken back by how large the room was and yet how simple. There were only walls, tall and long, with a high ceiling, six long desks on the outer sides, and about fifty men and women awaiting their arrival, and they all sat at the same enormous table. He wondered how they were all going to be able to talk in here. Renjiamori stood up from the head of the desk and walked over to them immediately, greeting them with proper etiquette and introducing them to the board, Prince Vegeta first and their honorable guest, Kakarot "Goku" Son. No one said a word but they all stood and bowed as the two men found their seats. Vegeta was to sit next to Renjiamori on the right, and Goku, next to Vegeta. In front of the late joiners was a sheet of paper that read, "To speak, raise your hand to be called on and then press the blue button in front of you. Release when finished," and when they looked, they saw a speaker and a button and a computer screen built within the desk itself, so that all documents and details of their content was displayed clearly in front of them, and to learn more, whoever had the control at the moment could simply click to open a file. Goku thought it was pretty neat and found that he'd missed the first half of whatever Renjiamori was saying. Vegeta, however, was trying hard not to stare at Prince Amori while he explained, briefly, all the topics they mean to discuss during their time together today. He turned to Vegeta first and said over the speakers, "Here next to me is a man who claims to be the Prince of the lost race, the Saiyans, Prince Vegeta of Planet Vegeta, Son of King Vegeta, and I know it to be true. I will attest to that in a court of law, should these councils go ill and the need arrises. "Next to him is the only other full-blooded Saiyan, Kakarot, also known as 'Goku', a Saiyan born of Planet Vegeta, son of Bardock and brother of Commander Radditz. He was sent to Earth as a baby born under Frieza's reign, where he resides to this day. He is a truly blameless man. who's record I have found to be not only clean but commendable. His place in this council is to be honored and to be awarded with such amenities as great men earn with courageous acts." All the men in the room clapped, including Vegeta and Kakarot blushed. When Renjiamori put his hand up to signal for them to stop, he went on the say, "There is one member of this council that is not here." Just then Goku noticed the seat to the left of Renjiamori was empty. He listened on, "Jeremel Korkoth, representative of the Galactic Renegade Department of Defense (GRDD), has not responded to recent attempts to summon him, although he did say he would be here today. So, in light of this event, we will continue to try to get a hold of him, and go forth with this meeting on other matters until his expected arrival." Many of the men and women broke out into whispers at each other and seemed put off, but some were eager to get started, anyways. Finally Renjiamori said gesturing to everyone, "You have the floor." Somehow Goku knew that didn't include Vegeta or himself. Immediately a woman raised her hand, Renjiamori nodded at her and she spoke up, her face nothing but skeptical, "First we ought to tackle the easier subjects so that all of our undivided attention can be focused later on more difficult topics." Another man raised his hand, and was called on. He said, "Does anyone here doubt that this man, Goku, is the one who killed Frieza?" Another raised his hand and said, gesturing to the computer in the table in front of them, "No one can doubt it, we have documented proof." Suddenly on the screen was a picture of Goku he had never seen of himself, and another one beside it, in his Super Saiyan form. The man continued, "We here on Nartal are commended for our technological advances and this type of information is child's play to our dedicated and talented scouts. I believe him to be the Saiyan birth-named 'Kakarot,' and there is no doubt Frieza is dead." A woman raised her hand, and said, "But biologically we have no proof other than the resemblance of his face, unless he could prove his heritage, mm, perhaps by turning into a 'Super Saiyan'." Goku began to talk, saying, "What your asking for is-" but Renjiamori reminded him that he needed to ask for permission and then press the button, at which point Vegeta just pressed the button himself and replied, haughtily, "Kakarot and I can both transform if that is enough to stop this ridiculous cynicism." Goku glanced at Vegeta wearily while someone else asked to speak, "It wouldn't hurt, but I'm afraid, we will still have need for the clarifying of other subjects even after this one is laid to rest, Prince Vegeta." Vegeta frowned for a moment. He knew exactly what the man was referring to- all of his crimes from a lifetime ago. Renjiamori saw the true understanding in Vegeta's eyes, though the rest of his face was a mask, and he quickly refocused the group, "Prince Vegeta has stated that they will prove their Saiyan Legacy to you, do you accept? Only respond if you disagree." There wasn't even a murmur among the entire table as all eyes were keen on the two men. Goku whispered, "Vegeta!" but found the man to be resolute. He stood up proudly and Goku followed after him. He still whispered, "We probably shouldn't do this here." "We are just going to give them what they want, Kakarot," Vegeta's voice seemed to purr. Goku nodded in understanding, they had already talked about it. Vegeta meant to scare them, he wanted them to choke on their incredulous desires. They are all so tough with their money and the power they think it buys, but most of them know nothing about real power, the strength at the fingertips and the cunning and ferocity of a warrior. Within moments the two men were filling themselves with their energy, letting it feed off of themselves and the others before them. Honestly they didn't make that big of a show out of it, and what seemed like years really passed in seconds before the now fearful eyes of the council, who were moved back, along with the table and chairs, until it was almost pressing against the far wall, and the men and women had to move to avoid being crushed. They saw the terrible flash of light, temporarily blinding them, warming their bodies with the immense heat, yet they still found themselves shivering to the core. When they could see again the noticed immediately the cold aqua eyes and the glowing blond hair of both now more muscular and frightening men.
Even Renjiamori stood aghast staring breathlessly at the two of them. Vegeta's eyes met his for just a moment and his heart quailed.
"Is this enough?" Vegeta smirked, but in his eyes the men and women saw a burning flame that threatened to consume them, and then all agreed that they had seen enough, those who said nothing were at a loss for words in their awe. The two men dropped the form moments later and Goku offered to put the desk back in it's proper place. Although no one moved away from him fearfully as he came forward, no one dared to argue with his will, either. They gathered the chairs after the table was placed back where it was, and went back to business as normally as possible. Renjiamori began again, ever trying to progress, "Everyone now agrees that Kakarot is who he says he is, and is the man who killed Frieza. Respond if you disagree." At this Vegeta left the room at once. Conversation started all at once after he left, but Renjiamori told them all to answer the question or be quiet for a moment. Silence, again, filled the room and so Renjiamori went on, "Can we all then agree from that proof that Prince Vegeta is who he says he is?" Someone asked to speak, and only then did Kakarot notice that it was Huntre. He said, "I will vouch for this man alongside Renjiamori. I have known him for many years and will stake my reputation on the validity of his birth and right." The table began to get hasty, many people chiming in, some cutting others off with comments like, "Rights belong to lawful citizens." "Are you forgetting the basis on how the two of you know one another?" "After fighting to put him behind bars you now fight to give him inheritance?" "What about his tail?" "Quiet all of you!" Renjiamori raised his deep voice, calling out sternly, he was heard and obeyed by all, even without the use of the communication in the table. There was a hush among them that he answered with, "His crimes have already been weighed and judged in a court of the Galactic Department of Justice, we are not here to discuss his past, only his identity." One person answered, without permission, "Until Councilmen Jeremel is here we cannot put it to rest." At that moment Vegeta walked through the doors again, everyone with a strong heart watched him, those that hesitated waited in silence for some one to speak again. Vegeta eyes pierced them all through a cool determined face as he took his seat once more. A woman raised her hand and brought up her point, again, which she deemed to be highly important, "What about your tails? I thought that all Saiyans had tails." Vegeta wanted to growl at her and Kakarot started, raising his hand first, assuming he would be allowed to respond, though he did not know what he would say. Before he could get anything out Vegeta again pressed the blue button and said, "Kakarot and I both have our tails, if it makes you feel better about this already undignified rouse about me and my past." The council was stunned. Kakarot wondered at Vegeta's bluff, he's so convincing, but none were given much time to their thoughts. Renjiamori tried to stop Vegeta from speaking but the hot-headed Prince could not be swayed and he went on with, "Most of you may not wish to see me at all, much less to see me receive an inheritance, and yet I was invited to this council, while you yourselves created it. Likewise, I was born into a privilege I never experienced and am now to be given something that I did not request. I can assuredly tell you it means less to me than you know, and more to you than it ought." Renjiamori responded to this himself, "This council is not meant to measure your soul. No one alive can measure anything beyond tangible weight." The room again fell into silence, no man or woman there could argue the fact further, under the deep gaze of the two dethroned Princes and the god-like man, Kakarot, whom they revered and wondered much about. Finally a man spoke up, "Has anyone gotten in contact with Councilman Jeremel?" "No," Renjiamori answered, "I have heard of no update as of yet." Someone else said, "He is the only one with details on Prince Vegeta's case."Renjiamori suddenly frowned, "Need I remind the council that I, too, once worked for Frieza?"
The council didn't respond for a long time. Everyone seemed to have run out of things to say. It lasted until one woman finally spoke up, "Without Jeremel we cannot conclude the purpose of this meeting in definitive and official record." "Fine," Renjiamori nodded, "Let us take break, but before we leave I would like to remind you that it was Jeremel who took on the case on behalf of his client, Prince Vegeta, without his clients reckoning or presence, which you deemed rightful, correct? That case took ten years to come to a conclusion. He is obviously a busy man, a persistent man, and if he cannot come to us on the day that he declared a summons, we will have to decide if it will stop us from concluding this meeting agreeably." No one denied the sensibility of this, it was a perfect testament to his wisdom and their appraisal of him (He was very noble). Though some mostly hoped that Jeremel would just show up. Renjiamori told them they had two hours for a break and everyone was to meet back at noon sharp before dismissing them. Vegeta and Kakarot remained seated, much to Goku's dismay. Vegeta whispered to Renjiamori after everyone had left, "Who is Jeremel?" Renjiamori shook his head, "I already told you, I've never met him." Goku asked, "If you have Vegeta's money, can't you just give it to him?" "Unfortunately it's not my money to hand over. It's a business transaction, and although Vegeta has been pardoned, he still must meet Jeremel and sign paperwork on his case, and on his inheritance. But, if the members here will simply sign over their portion of the paperwork, then we can most likely rendezvous with Jeremel more easily and privately. You will have to do the same for your award. There will be a ceremony for the both of you once everything has been concluded." Goku wondered again, "Why does it have to be such a big deal?" Renjiamori gave him a strange look, "You are being given money by the public of a galaxy you've never been to..." He didn't want to insult him or his intelligence, but he couldn't understand his ignorance or lack of interest in the prize. Vegeta told Renjiamori, "Kakarot and I want for nothing, and the interests of a Saiyan generally have little to do with worldly things." "That's true," Goku added, "but that's not what I meant. I didn't mean to seem ungrateful, honestly I think it's a little ridiculous and unnecessary, although I'm sure my wife will be happy about it... But that question wasn't about me. I just wanted to know why they're hesitating to give Vegeta something that doesn't belong to them. It has nothing to do with them." "Because I'm a bad man, Kakarot," Vegeta said and then he stood up, "They want to hear the pardon of my crimes from a man they obviously trust, and although they trust Amori for all the good he has done over the years to repay for his crimes, it's harder to respect his trust of me and his biased opinion of me based on our past together." Goku's breath came in thinly, and he asked, needing to know, "What do you mean?" Renjiamori held his breath for a moment as he looked at Vegeta confused. Vegeta turned to him and answered Kakarot without glancing at his way, "Renjiamori and I used to be lovers." Kakarot felt faded for a moment, although it was something he already had a hunch about, it still burned him up inside. All he said was, "Oh," confused about so much more now. Vegeta knew Kakarot didn't completely understand, but saying that was difficult enough. He didn't tell him that he and Amori never actually broke up. He couldn't explain everything about himself to Kakarot right now, and a part of him didn't want to ever fully tell anyone the things he'd done, or the things he'd once wished for his dark life. He didn't tell Kakarot that Renjiamori knew all of those things, all of the things that Kakarot dreamed to know. Renjiamori rested his eyes on Goku's face, he looked back at him strangely. Renjiamori sighed, "I wish he would have told you sooner to make this less awkward, but he's right, I'm sure that's part of why they are so bent on having Jeremel here, although that is not the only reason. "All of those men and women have been gathered from their separate lives in distant galaxies for decades. They are all tied to this issue in one way or another, and they are all respected and well known among mazy civilizations, at least those who are wise enough to be in touch. They brought together this ouncil, which we usually refer to as The Progression, and have been working on rebuilding an equilibrium in the Universe ever since Frieza came and went. I decided to join them many years ago, repenting for my crimes against all of civility all those years ago." Goku was still a little lost. Renjiamori only shook his head and said, "You simply kill all the evil men in the universe, so you don't know what it's like to live with one, we do. We're trying to make up for the bad Frieza did, and do right by what you did for everyone, giving us hope." Just then Goku's stomach growled and Vegeta rolled his eyes, he asked Amori, "We have to eat something, where can we go?" Renjiamori laughed, "Come with me," and as he stood up to lead them, his eyes lingered on Vegeta longer than usual, and Goku didn't know what to think about it.
