We Meet Again, At Last.


\" What do you mean, you didn\'t recognize him!\" Duo shouted as he paced the floor of Director Une\'s
office at Preventer\'s Earth Sphere Main branch Headquarters.
\" Look, you didn\'t see what he looked like when I found him. I doubt that even you would
have been able to recognize him.\" Zechs replied evenly. Duo opened his mouth to say
something only to find it covered by his husband\'s hand.
\" Zechs. Please continue.\" Une said quietly, shooting Duo a look that said \ep qep quiet\'.
Zechs took a deep breath and began. \" When I bought him, he had been severely abused.
H was so thin and covered with bruises that I really could not tell \' what \' he looked like.
Once the bruising went away I had gotten so use to him being Odoroki that I have never
seen him as anyone else.\"

\" Is he your slave?\" Wufei asked, speaking for the first tine since he had entered the office.
\" No. though I \' had \' originally purchased him for that purpose, ve nve never treated him as one.\"
\" Do you love him?\" Une asked, already knowing the answer.
\" Yes, I do. Very much.\"
\" I want to see him.\" Duo said, Forcing Wufei\'s hand away from his mouth.
\" I\'ll see what I can do. Though his physical wounds have healed, he is still
very fragile.\" Zechs said giving the group an apologetic smile before leaving the office.

// I do not understand why they want to meet me. //
Zechs sighed, he had been trying to tell Heero what had happened, and who he really
was for the past few days, but it seemed that the boy had some sort of mental block.
He simply could not remember his life before Jude.

\" They are friends of yours from before Jude.\" Heero made a muffled sound in the back
of his throat as his face contorted and turned red with anger.
// Never, I mean never say the name in my presence again.// he signed violently.
\" I promise. But please, it\'s just dinner. Nothing more has to come of it, okay?\"
Zechs said gently caressing Heero\'s soft cheek.Heero sighed and nodded.
// Alright, just dinner.//
Zechs kissed his beloved koi\'s cheek. Heero melted into the tender kiss wrapping his
arms around Zechs\' waist.

* * * * * * *

\" Duo, come on. We are going to be late.\" Wufei called. Duo sat in the car fingering the door
handle before pulling it, pushing the door open and stepping out onto the snow covered sidewalk.
\" I don\'t think I can do this.\" he said, fear and uncertainty lacing his voice.
\" Don\'t worry.\" Wufei said pulling his husband towards the apartment building.

Zechs had called Une earlier that week to ask the woman if she could set up a
meeting for them, it was Une\'s idea to do it at Zechs\' apartment, the relaxed setting
of a meal in their own home would hopefully keep Heero from getting too upset.
She also gave him Duo and Wufei\'s home number so he could call and invite
them personally. < ...and Duo, he has no memory of his life before the kidnapping.
Don\'t expect a miracle. >

Duo took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.

Dinner had started out a bit awkward but relaxed a bit, there was a lot Duo wanted to do
and say but with tremendous strength he kept himself in check.
So by desert and tea they were all chatting comfortably, Heero even joined in the conversation on occasion.

// Excuse me.// Heero signed, clearing away the tea service and smilpolipolitely to their
guests before disappearing into the kitchen.
It was only after Heero had left the room when all that had been bottled up inside
Duo burst forth and he ruined the comfortable atmosphere.

\" Look at him, he\'s acting like a house wife!\" Duo spat at Zech\" H\" He would not be doing any thing that he did not want to do.\" Zechs replied.
\" Oh yes he would, he was your slave, after all.\"
\" I told you, I have never treated him as a slave.\"
\" But that is what you bought him for was it not, to be your servant, your whore.
Did you fuck him in the car of did you wait \'till you got home!?\"
\" Duo! That\'s uncalled for! \" Wufei shouted.
\" Don\'t throw that at me. if any one is to blame it\'s you.\" Zechs retorted.
\" Me?!, How could this possibly be my fault?\" Duo counterd ignoring his husband\'s shouts.
\" If you had not gotten him drunk in the first place, he would have been able to fight off his attacker!\"
Wufei sat there yelling at them, trying desperately to calm the two men down.
But the inevitable happened, Duo hit Zechs square in the jaw causing the man to fall
backwards onto the couch, his casted arm colliding painfully with his knee.
\" Please! That\'s enough, both of you. You should.... Wufei stopped, his eyes fixed of another point in the room,
Heero had been standing in the doorway for who knows
how long, his face red with anger and fists balled up so tightly at his sides that his knuckles were white.

Heero walked across the lounge as Duo and Zechs continued to argue and in one
swift movement, stamped down, hard on Zechs\' foot causing the now standing
man to sit on the sofa once again.
\'\" Odoroki? Heero...I...\"
Heero shot him a look that said \' I don\'t want to hear it! \'
Then shot the now silent Duo a look, that the braided man remembered well.
The Death Glare.

\" Heero please! I\'m sorry. Let me explain. \" Zechs pleaded.
// I DON\'T WANT TO HEAR IT! // Heero signed angrily, then stomped from the room
making doubly sure to slam the door when he got to bedroom.
\" I better go talk to him.\" Zechs said quietly, but before he could even get up off
of the sofa, the bedroom door opened and Heero emerged, carrying a blanket
and a pillow. He walked over to the sofa and dumped them both on Zechs\' lap Then
returned to the bedroom, slamming the door again, to emphasize his anger.

\" Guess i\'m on the couch. \" Zechs sighed deflatedly, leaning back and closing his eyes.
\" We are leaving, now.\" Wufei said angrily, pulling Duo towards the door.
\" I\'m sorry,\" Duo said in a truly sincere voice. \" That\'s been building up for a while.
I did not intend to take it out on you.\"
\" I\'m sorry too, It\'s been so frustrating, trying to break the shell that the abuse caused
him to build. I guess I needed someone to blame as well. It\'s Jude\'s fault, not your\'es,
not mine.\"
\" Umm.., I hate to say this but I think were stranded.\" Wufei said, closing the blinds
that covered the windows.
\" What?!\" Duo said, shoving him aside to see for himself.
\" Shit were snowed in.\" Duo said turning back to Zechs, who approached the pair to
peer out the window too.

\" You can stay here tonight,\" Zechs stated, leading the young men deeper into the apartment. They passed by the door that Heero had retreated behind, angry pacing could be heard from their side of the door. Zechs stopped at a door just past his bedroom, then opened the door and flicked the light switch reveling a modest but comfortable looking room boasting a queen sized bed.
\" There are clean linens on the bed and fresh towels in the bathroom, it\'s across the hall. If you need anything...
i\'ll be on the sofa.\" They nodded their goodnight\'s and Zechs left then to get ready for bed.

\" Wu I...\"
\" Didn\'t I warn you to keep your big mouth shut, now look what you have done. Heero
is mad at all of us!\"
\" I sorry Wu, I just...\"
I don\'t want to hear it, and it\'s not me you should be apologizing to. Now be quiet and
get ready for bed.\" Wufei said as he toed off his shoes and striped down to his boxers.
\" Hurry up, we have an early day tomorrow.\" Duo nodded and prepared to join his husband.

* * * * * * * *

Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring.
\" hullo?\" Came the sleepy reply.
\" Duo, it\'s Une. We need you. Now.\"
\" Yes, I\'m on my way.\"
Duo hung up the phone, dressed quickly and rushed to the preventer\'s headquarters.
\" What is it?\" he asked breathlessly. Quatre, Trowa and Wufei were already there.
\" Duo?\" Sally began. \"Sweetie, we found him. We found Heero. I\'m so sorry, honey.
We were to late.\"
\" W...w...what?\" Duo stammered.
\" Heero\'s dead, honey.\"

* * * * * * * *
Duo shot bolt upright and scrubbed his knuckles over his eyes, sweat dripping from his chilled skin. His eyes gazed wildly about the room, refusing to focus. This was not his room, where was he. The nightmare, was old, one he
had had many times before.It had been haunting him for the last three years. The effect was the same every time.
Once his heart rate calmed, he remembered where he was. Zechs apartment.

Sighing, Duo untangled himself from the sweaty sheets, careful not to wake Wufei.
He was so thirsty, his mouth tasted like sin. He quietly walked across the room and slipped into the passage, he had planned to get a drink in the bathroom but his attention was drawn to the room Heero was in.

There was a soft glow coming from under the door and he could
hear someone taking. \' I thought Heero didn\'t talk.\' Duo thought as he approached the door. Very quietly he opened the door and peeked inside. He could see Heero perched on the foot of a king size bed, watching the television. The \' Closed Captions\' were on a scrolling along the bottom of the screen, but he did not look like he was reading them or even paying attention to the screen. Heero just sat there a dazed look on his face, fingers scratching the ears of the golden retriever that lay at his side.

Kodomo raised her head to look at Duo, wagged her tail once, jumped down off of the bed and lopped across the room, past Duo and out into the passage way.
Duo closed the door and made his way to Heero, who had yet to acknowledge his presence. Duo sat in the spot the
dog had just vacated and placed a gentle hand on Heero\'s shoulder.

Heero turned to look at the braided man for the first time and sighed. Duo was started to see tears in the japanese boy\'s eyes. Heero mouthed something and Duo gasped, reading his lip perfectly.

\" When?\" Duo asked his face still holding it\'s startled look.
\' When you and Zechs were fighting, everything just flooded back at once. It hurt.
I was angry, not at you specifically, but what you made me remember. I burred it, deep.
It was just easier to keep living that way.I suddenly remembered all that horror that I had fought so hard to push away, But I\'m glad I remember now, I remember the life I had before. I remember you. I\'m not the same person I once had been. So much has changed, you and Wufei, Zechs and I. I\'m happy with him and i\'m afraid that I might loose that. Please Duo, please help me to hold onto my happiness.
I have lost so much in my life and now i\'m getting a little of it back. I love Zechs and I love you.I am so happy and so very lucky to have that.\' Heero mouthed his prussian never leaving the tear filled violet that he had missed so much in the last three years.
\" I\'m so sorry, Heero if I hadn\'t made you drink I...\"
\' Shhh...\' Heero hissed, his fingers firmly placed over Duo\'s lips.
\' I was not your fault, He drugged me from a distance. Even if I had been completely sober he still would have kidnapped me.\'
\" Gods i\'ve missed you, so much it hurt.\"
\' I missed you too. Duo. I\'m home now, and I plan to stay.\'
\" So, you really love Zechs then?\"
\' Of course, I love him.\' Heero replied with a wistful look upon his face. Duo smiled.
\" I\'m glad Hee-Chan, every one needs love.\"
\' If I remember correctly, I told you once that if you ever called me that i\'d strangle you.\'
Duo smirked. \" Now thats the Heero I remember, it\'s great to have you back, Buddy.\"

Heero and Duo chatted for hours, not one word was said aloud. It was only when the sun began to rise did they finally stop to rest. Duo hugged his friend and went back to the guest room, giving the japanese boy time to absorb all the new information he had been given. After sitting quietly for several moments he went to the lounge and shook Zechs
awake.

\" W...what is it.? He asked when his eyes settled on the young man.
// Lets go to bed.//
And they did.
