Chapter 9
Here's Chapter 9. I am trying to keep the tension between Heero and Duo, so forgive me if this upsets you. Anyway, here's the next installment. Please read and review!
The Foreign Exchange Student: Chapter 9
"We are at Master Quatre's," Manuel announced.
"Okay, Manuel, thanks," Duo chimed.
Manuel came around to open the door for them both.
"C'mon, Heero, you are coming with me," Duo told him. Duo smiled softly at him and began to climb out of the limo, followed by Heero. "This is Quatre's house."
"Wow," Heero said, looking at the size of the house. "Do they really need a house that big?"
"Quatre has 29 sisters, so they use up every room in that house," Duo giggled. "I couldn't imagine all the fights he and his sisters get into."
"I don't have any siblings, so I wouldn't know," Heero added, still in awe about standing in front of a mansion. "Do you think he will let us walk inside?"
"Yeah, the bulter always let's me in," Duo replied.
Heero followed closely behind Duo. He watched the way Duo walked, watching his ass shake. He grinned. Today was going to be a good day.
Duo knocked on Quatre's door and his butler, Rashid, answered the door.
"Why, Master Maxwell, are you here to see Master Quatre?" asked Rashid.
"Uh, why, yes I am and I brought someone for him to meet," Duo explained, motioning to Heero.
"Well, come along inside, where it's cool. You both must be very hot out there."
Duo walked inside, followed by Heero, who was still in awe. "Heero, you better get used to this. We will be living in luxury like this too," Duo mentioned.
"It's just amazing, I have never seen anything like it in all of my life. Even Emperor Akihito's palace isn't as amazing as this place," Heero informed him. "It's just all so amazing. I just have to take a while to get used to it, I guess." Heero looked around the large room that they were in. It had two large staircases leading into it. He thought that this just might be an entry room. Just as he started to glance at the staircase, someone was coming down. A blond boy, a beautiful blond boy. Heero knew that must be Quatre.
"Duo!" called Quatre, running down the stairs. He wanted to hurry. He saw Heero down and just had to be up close to see if he was really that hot or just his imagination. He was already jealous of Duo. Quatre arrived in front of the boys, pulling Duo into a hug. "Are you serious, Duo? This is guy is so hot, I don't know how you are going to control yourself once you get home," Quatre whispered in Duo's ear, soft enough to make sure Heero did not hear. Quatre released Duo from the hug and went over to Heero, to hug him. "You must be Heero, I have heard so much about you!" Quatre pulled him into a hug, squeezing him tight, feeling just how toned Heero's muscles were.
Heero knew what Quatre was trying to do, but didn't mind it, being as the blond was a very attractive man. He wondered though, he knew Duo had been ogling him, but was Quatre now doing it too, or was Quatre doing it for Duo? He was a little confused, but determined to find out. He really wanted to make a move on Duo, but didn't know of the type of reaction he would get.
"Let's Duo," Duo suggested. "We still gotta go and get Trowa and Wu Fei." The three boys took off out the door and back toward the limo. Manuel was there, by the door waiting for them.
Manuel opened the door for the boys, "It's nice to see you today, Master Winner." Manuel made sure everyone was inside and he shut the door.
"So, Quatre," Duo said, "You don't mind that we are going to KFC to eat do you?" Duo said that in a very joking manner, knowing what Quatre's new diet consisted of.
"OH, I can't wait! Let me tell you, we had tofu burgers last night. You already know my mom is not a good cook, on top of cooking tofu...ewww. I my parents are trying to make all 30 of us kids into vegetarians. I think they must have it in their minds that it will be cheaper somehow. I tell you one thing though. I will never be a vegetarian. There is one meat that I can't go without," Quatre explained, his face pulling into a kinky grin.
Duo tried not to laugh, "Your mom has still got that tofu kick?"
Quatre nodded, trying not to look sad. "I think I am going to have to keep a junk food stash in my room."
"You don't like tofu?" Heero asked, shocked. "I mean it's not the best food in the world, but it's pretty good."
"Really, you like that stuff?" Quatre replied, in shock. "Good, you can come over and eat my share!"
Heero grinned, "Actually, I was wanting to get accustomed to American foods. I had some kind of spicy, yet juicy chicken on the plane and some mashed potatoes. They were so good. I feel the need to eat more of it."
"Heero," Quatre said, "Your english is very good. How did you learn it so well?"
"Well, my father was American. He taught me mostly. It is required that we learn it in school too, but all the teachers we had were Japanese and knew nothing of how Americans really spoke. My father though, he taught me what those teachers couldn't, which was alot. I have been speaking both english and japanese since I started talking."
Duo had a very interested look on his face, "Heero, tell me about yourself, the things you didn't tell me earlier. Tell me about your life."
Heero sighed, he hated talking about himself, but he would for Duo's sake. He couldn't say no to that look in those violet eyes. "Since I was young, my mother drilled perfectionism into me. She wanted me to strive for the best. Even though I don't consider myself a perfectionist, I still tried to be the best in everything I did, until I started playing baseball. Baseball was a rather difficult sport for me at first. Me being the booknerd I was, never getting involved in a physical sport, it was hard for me to match the other boys athletic abilities. Soon, I started getting better and better. Then, every time I went up to bat I was hitting runs. Baseball, that was my fathers idea. My father died after my thirteenth birthday, leaving my mom and I alone. His brother flew in from America to take care of us. My loving Uncle Richard. He had come to take care of us and that was a big thing coming from such a young man. He was 27 at the time. He really had no interest in raising a family. He came to Japan for the street racing. Even though he had no interest in raising a family, he did make sure all the bills were paid and we had food to eat. He got all of his money from street racing. He died last year, he was shot, right in front of the house, by some loan shark he owed money to. He left his car to me. I was not old enough to get my license yet, but I always sat behind the wheel of that car, imagining I was in a drift race. I had only seen my uncle race once, but once was good enough. He was better than alot of the racers I had seen on tv." Heero looked down at his feet, not wanting to continue on with his story, but he felt Duo and Quatre's eyes on him. They were into his story, listening to his every word. "My mother became very ill after that. She had a heart attack. The grief of their deaths and the stress of her working and providing by herself caused her heart attack. At that time, I had no choice but to get a job. There weren't alot of jobs for teenagers at that time. So, I decided to go with something I knew I was good at. I set up a little mini shop in my room. I started out doing computer repairs. I made decent money off of that, considering that I wasn't certified to do it, but I did charge alot less than those who were certified. Then, I got into repairing game consoles. That was a very profitable job and soon, after months of working hard to take care of myself and my mother, she was getting alot better. She soon was back to her normal routine. Then, she told me that I was going to America to finish high school. He told me that my father had wished it and I was to go. I started saving all the money I could for when I arrived here. I didn't know where I was going to be living or anything. I found out about you while I was on the plane. My mother had stuck a note in my laptop bag. She had sent me away because she had cancer. She didn't want me to be there anymore. I know she thought I would be better off here, so now here I am, sitting with you both." Heero had ended his story. He felt instantly saddened after talking about his mother again.
"We are here at Master Barton's," Manuel called from the front.
"I will go get him," Quatre yelled and took off out of the limo.
"Heero, I'm sorry to hear about your parents and your uncle," Duo told him, moving closer to him. "If you ever need to talk, I'm here." Duo looked at Heero's face. He saw some tears in his eyes, but refused to call him on it, instead, he handed Heero a tissue. He gave Heero a hug.
"Tell me about you," Heero pleaded. "Tell me about your life."
"There's not much to tell," Duo explained, but went ahead with his story. "I grew up here in LA, I wasn't always rich like Quatre. My father had been attending college while I was a young child and we lived in a very small apartment in a very rough neighborhood. We were a very close family back then. My father graduated college and started working as a realtor for some older man who looked like he had been dead for a long time, he was that old. After working for him for a few years, the man died and left the business to my father, because he had no sons. My father expanded the business and renamed it Maxwell realty. I was ten when that happened. My mother went to college to become a realtor alongside my father. My dad always told me that I was to take over the business when I graduate from college, but I have no interest in doing so. After my father started bringing in loads of more money, my family started getting farther and farther apart. My parents started paying less and less attention to me. When I was 15, they gave me my own apartment. We got together as a family and did the family thing every Sunday. Then, it started being every other Sunday. Then, once a month, and even while we were on famly time, my parents were still on their cell phones, making deals and such. They ignored me. I have access to all the money and credit cards I need, but that doesn't make up for my parents, not by a long shot."
"I guess we both had a bad childhood," Heero said, smiling at Duo. "That doesn't mean that we gotta let the rest of our lives be like that."
Duo smiled at Heero and they shared that gaze at each other, seeming like an eternity. Their faces moving closer and closer together as if they were going to kiss, both boys hearts pounding.
Just then, the door opened, and in come Quatre and Trowa. Heero and Duo pulled away from each other quickly.
"Was I interrupting something?" Trowa asked, knowing what he interrupted. Heero and Duo were blushing.
Quatre looked over at his lover, "I missed you, Trowa." Quatre threw his arms around him and started giving him little soft kisses.
