The first time
Duo had somehow managed to talk Trowa into taking a shower and getting dressed. Sitting down as Trowa left the room, he looked up when the front door opened and Heero walked in. He had a smile on his face but Duo could see the slight bruise forming on his jaw.
“What happened?” He asked as Heero sat down next to him.
“I pissed Quatre off; he’s going to use the range tonight. Now you need to tell me what you’re thinking.” Looking over his shoulder Duo made sure Trowa wasn’t within hearing range.
“Do you remember the first time after the war I found Quatre with a gun?” Heero’s eyes darkened, the blonde had every intention of using it on himself.
-Flashback-
“Hey Quat, what do you say we go get some-“ Duo cut himself off as he stepped into the room. Quatre was sitting behind his desk, holding a gun in between his eyes. Duo felt his body freeze but the tears didn’t, he couldn’t stop them when he heard the click of the safety being taken off.
“Please go away Duo, I don’t want you to see-“
“Are you fucking insane?? What the hell are you doing? Do you have any idea how much it would hurt us if you did something so stupid? What would Trowa-“ Duo didn’t get the thought out as the gun was turned to him and Quatre pulled the trigger. Duo was beyond lucky, he knew it…he didn’t get hit until the last bullet which barley grazed his side. Duo could hear the sickening clicks as Quatre kept trying to get more bullets out of the empty gun. Duo knew he had to find Trowa, even if it was just to let Quatre get pissed at him…he had to find him. He dropped to his knees as he watched Quatre drop the gun on the desk.
“Oh no…Duo I’m so sor-“
“Don’t you even try to apologize, I’ll find him, I don’t give a fuck if you don’t want to see him, you have to. You just SHOT AT ME for saying his name. I understand it’s hard, all of us do, but you have to start healing and the only way that’s gonna happen is if you see him.”
“I can’t se-“
“I didn’t ask if you would see him! You’re going to, I’m going to find him and until then you’re on weapon restriction.”
“What?”
“No guns, knives, swords, nothing you can harm yourself with.” Walking over and taking the gun from the desk as well as the other weapons he knew the blonde always kept there, Duo walked out of the room. He couldn’t believe that Quatre had shot at him.
-End Flashback-
“What about it?” Heero asked as the memory overtook his lover.
“He’ll shoot at people if he gets too pissed off, so we have to make sure he isn’t that pissed off, what’d you say to him?”
“I told him he needed to get laid.” Heero said smiling.
“That should be perfect… I didn’t tell Trowa that Quatre’s gonna be in the shooting range too.”
“You’re giving them both guns?” Duo nodded as he thought about it, he was sure neither would shoot the other…at least he hoped they wouldn’t.
Stepping into the living room, Trowa told them that he would be back as soon as he was done. It really was good to keep old skills sharp. Walking to the shooting range where Duo had instructed, Trowa paused at the door. Wufei must have been using it too because he could hear the bullets being fired. Walking in Trowa took everything in at once. Quatre was using the firing range and down at the other end of the range was the paper target that was made as a human…the only thing not normal was that the entire target was empty of holes except one area.
“Oh my god, little one.” Trowa just had more answers then he thought he would ever get.
