~~flashback~~

Vegeta’s POV

Haru stared at me for a moment, as if trying to think about it. Then his eyes became half lidded and he smiled softly. Wow. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen him smile. “Yes. Of course I do, my King.”

~~A couple years after I became King, my men and I went on a raid for more Lights. Unfortunately, I was still grieving my love’s loss and I was still young and not very wise. I was paying more attention to what my men were doing than what was going on around me. I got caught easily, shameful as it was, when those damn Lights’ goal was to capture me instead of killing my men. They took me into their ‘lab’ where they turned Shadows and bound me with their ki bands to the table or cot that was kept in the room. The Lights who brought me to that horrid place left me there to weaken and said something about telling their King, Bardock, that I was in their hands now. As I was losing my power, I panicked at the idea of becoming one of them, not at all thinking about what my love would do when he found out that I was now here as a prisoner.

Then, I heard the door to the room reopen and I again almost went into a state of hysteria. The miserable being came and stood next to the cot I lied upon and watched me writhe with panic and despair. Then, very gently, he laid a hot hand on my face when my head was turned from him and I stilled as a powerful scent slammed into my face and I almost went feral at the delicious smell of it. I was panicking even more and yet a little curious as to why he wouldn’t just grab my hair and yank my head back to drink me dry. He traced my face with that curious hand and it went to my hair and he stroked it soothingly. What if it was Kakarot? He’s the only Light I know that would treat a being such as me with such care and gentleness. Then again, he didn’t smell this lovely.

After a minute, I finally came to my senses. Why was this despicable creature touching me?! Only my Kakarot can do such a thing! Who does he think he is? If he’s not here to kill me, then what is he here for? A different kind of panic entered my being at a horrifying idea that came to mind. But if his intentions were such, then why wasn’t he doing them already?

I decided to chance it and took this strange advantage to look at the curious creature next to me. Again, that scent hit me full force and I tried not to use my instinctive breathing and remained under control. His lightly silver hair shined in the light, yet I couldn’t help but notice that it was kind of black looking. His features were sharp and handsome and his eyes were a crystal green. Though all of the Lights had green eyes, but this one’s were exceptionally beautiful. He was probably a little taller than me and a bit bigger, from this point of view anyway. Definitely not Kakarot, but stunning none-the-less.

He didn’t say anything to me for a time and I began to wonder if he was capable of speech. I knew my time was limited the longer I stayed a Shadow here in this hellish place and I had to find a way to escape soon. He finally stopped petting me and reached over to my right wrist where the golden ki band was secured and forced the ki into his being. He did the same to my other bound limbs and he said to me in a voice that was as gentle as his touches, “If I help you escape, will you turn me into a Shadow?” I looked up at him in shock at his request as I still laid on the cot.

I didn’t answer him for awhile as I thought about what he was up to. “Why?” My voice was strained. Sort of asking both to the first part of his sentence and his question. Though my curiosity was evident, I didn’t want to go ahead and answer him even though the thought of devouring this delectable being was to much for my mind to bear. Especially since all my energy is lost.

He lowered his head and his eyes were downcast, for once not staring at me…studying me. “I’m not really sure. I don’t really appreciate my life here.” As he said this, I couldn’t help but think that perhaps this is a lie.

I took another instinctive breath and immediately regretted it. The painful feeling of thirst took over my body for a moment and caused me to pounce on him, even though he didn’t move an inch. I answered desperately, “Alright, fine! Just get me out of here before they come back!”

He quickly picked me up and held me close to his body like a child and left the room. As we he ran through the halls with me in his arms, I noticed that his body was getting warmer at the exertion. I moaned at the extra warmth and the added delicious scent. Next thing I knew, we were out in the bright sun’s rays and there doesn’t seem to be a commotion. He must’ve went out a secretive exit. As his scent kept getting stronger, I couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you smell so good? It’s taking all of my will power to not drink dry you right now.”

He eyed at me carefully and smirked maliciously. It caught me off guard, considering that that was the first reaction I’ve seen from this creature yet. “It’s the way I was born. It’s why they don’t let me leave our territory. Surely you can see why I want to leave.”

I looked at him questioningly, “But to be turned?”

He smiled again. “Well, since my scent is apparently desirable, I might as well become a Shadow, but I don’t want to be drank dry then discarded. I would be more than happy to be your personal servant, my King.” he added my title seductively.

I returned one of my own malicious smirks. “I’m afraid that won’t be an option. My being belongs to someone else more promising.”

His smirk was gone. “So it’s true. You and the King. I heard rumors that you two were once lovers, but I thought that was just a rumor.”

“Apparently the rumor was right.” I didn’t want to hide the fact that me and Kakarot were once together. As far as I knew, we still were.

After awhile of running, he stopped. “Forgive our ignorance, but we don’t know where your hideout is, would you mind pointing me in the right direction?”

I thought of something else. “First give me your name, Light. I would like the name of my foolish rescuer.” I added the last part with a smirk.

He smirked back. I actually started to like it. “Haru.”

“Haru.” I closed my eyes at his name. “It suits you. Heroine.” We both smiled at that. “Just go towards the darkness and we shall be there in a few hours.” I inclined my head towards the shadows of the mountains and he was off again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few hours was too long. I hardly had any control over myself the whole time he was running towards my hideout and its probably only been thirty minutes since he asked where we were going. Of course, if we flew, then the rest of the hoard of Lights would sense his power level. His scent was strong and it was getting stronger by the minute. I didn’t think such torture existed. I couldn’t hold my breath anymore. I kept inhaling his scent like I couldn’t live without it. Many times I started to incline my head towards his fully exposed neck before I realized what I was doing. Every time I started to do so, Haru would hold me closer and that wasn’t helping me at all. Idiot. If I drank him now, then it would take us longer to get to the hideout, maybe never.
“Maybe we should rest. You do have working lungs after all. You don’t have to run the whole way without a break.” I almost lost it with the constant assault of his scent on my burning throat. I was practically gasping.
He slowed down. “Yes, I guess that would be wise. I guess I didn’t think about my scent effecting you. Is it bothering you that much?”
“You have no idea.” He stopped then and carefully set me down on the ground.
He took a few steps back to give me some air and stood patiently, trying to get his breathing under control. When he saw me struggling to stay sitting up, he walked around to sit right behind me and let me lean back into his over-heated chest, still moving quickly in and out. I wanted to protest, but realized that he’s just being polite. I let my head fall back on his shoulder and he immediately lifted his left hand to start tracing lines on my neck. I froze at the warm, tingling, gentle touches and immediately pulled myself together. “Don’t touch me!! I told you that wasn’t going to happen!” I turned my head to yell at him.
His touches quickly stopped and he pulled his hand away. His glowing expressions quickly turned gloomy and he lowered his head. “I’m sorry. I seemed to be infatuated with you.”
“Well, try keeping your hands to yourself! If you want to be one of us, then I suggest you…wait…what did you say?” In my anger, his last words didn’t seem to sink in until now.
He raised his head again to look at me. “You…are interesting. I kept on hearing talk about you and I didn’t really see what the big deal was until I decided to see you for myself, and now I see why.” he lifted his other hand to gently trace my face again as he did before and I couldn’t help but be hypnotized by his features and his words, trying to make sense of what he’s trying to tell me.
“You can’t honestly be telling me that you’re in love with me! That’s just ridiculous! You’re a bigger fool than I thought you were.” I turned my eyes away from his. “Besides, how can you feel such an emotion towards me? I should be repulsive to anyone who lay their eyes upon me. Except to Kakarot apparently.” I added the last part quietly.
He heard it anyways, “Well, maybe we’re just different that way. I know it must be strange for someone else, especially a Light, telling you something like that. But, what else is my reason to join you, my King?” his hand moved to my hair again while he talked and I just noticed that he was closer to my face.
I panicked a little and pulled back, causing his hand to leave me and me falling to the ground on my back. He didn’t make any movements in helping me back up. I grunted in irritation and started talking to the sky, “I’m not your King…yet. But if you quit your senseless bickering then the quicker I will be.” I tried my futile efforts at sitting up again. “Well, let’s get going!” I added on when he didn’t make any movements.
He studied me a little longer and still didn’t make any movements. I glared at him with irritation, “You know, it’s going to be dark soon. Then neither of us will make it back.”
With that being said, he finally made movements to stand up, but hesitated in lifting me into his arms. I grunted again, giving in, “What do you want me to say?” I didn’t look at him.
He hesitated. “I’m not sure really. Maybe I was kind of hoping you were thinking the same thing. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get over Kakarot.” He ended that with a smile, which is now starting to annoy me.
I rolled my eyes, “What, you thought maybe your scent would win me over or something? Yeah right. It’ll take more than…” I decided to keep my mouth shut there. Don’t want to give him any hope. Mainly because I’ll never get over Kakarot.
He continued smiling at me then held me closer to his body again as we took off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A couple of hours had gone by and we didn’t rest again. Haru can run for a long time, for someone who stays cooped up in their hideout. Maybe he’ll be of some use to me after all. Once I turn his ass, that is. His scent!! I couldn’t take it anymore! With all of this exertion, he was sweating all over me, causing his scent to be stuck on me for quite sometime. Also with his heart hammering in that powerful chest of his, causing his blood to pump hard throughout his body, I finally just started sucking on his neck, leaving red circles in my greedy mouth’s wake.

He didn’t protest when I did this, so I kept doing it. I bit lightly in a couple of places not drawing blood, but in some places I did. I tried to control myself somewhat and not drink too much. We were almost there. After a while, I suddenly thought of what my men’s reactions may be to my new companion. I guess I should warn him. “Haru.” he stopped as I said his name weakly.

“Do you need some of my blood?” he tried guessing what the interruption was. It seemed to be my imagination, but it felt like he shivered when I said his name. Hm.

“Just shut up and listen. I didn’t think before how my men will react to you. But know this, you are mine to drink. You understand me? I’m sure you’re more than capable of fighting off anyone who might think otherwise. Understand?” I tried to explain with some gruff to him. Just the thought of anyone drinking this delicious morsel made me growl. Of course, it’s a normal reaction for one who claims their ‘food.’

He smiled a little again. He smiles a lot. “I understand.” Then he continued his running.

After a little ways, I ordered him to stop. I struggled to get out of his grasp until he finally set me on my feet. He didn’t let go of me, however, by keeping his arm around my waist. I lead him to the entrance of our hideout and banged on the door as hard as I was able. There was a gruff and cautious voice on the other side, “Who’s there?”

I gathered as much of my voice as I could, “It’s me! Open up!”

There was a surprised sound on the other side and the door quickly opened. “Your highness? You…you made it?”
“Yeah, idiot! No thanks to any of you!” I tried to say the last sentence as loud as I could so everyone could hear it. “Now step aside!”

The moron quickly did as I asked, if not skittishly. As I entered, everyone was eyeing my new companion, who still hadn’t let go of me. I heard some growls and saw terrified expressions. “Meet the new member of the ‘family.’ No one is to turn him but me, got it?” Some nodded and others quieted their growling.

“Where to?” Haru whispered beside me.

“To my chambers. That way, I can turn you in peace.” I answered simply.

“What do you mean by that?” he asked suspiciously.

“Well, I don’t want everyone to get their fare share of you. I told you. You’re mine to drink. Everyone will go berserk once your blood is spilt.” I tried explaining without scaring him too much. “I hope you’re not having second thoughts, because it’s a little late for that now.”

“Oh no. I’m still for it. Which way?” We got to a part where five halls branched off in different directions.

“The first one on the right. Then go up the stairs and it’s the last room on the left.” I tried pointing but, that was futile.

He did as directed and we entered my darkened chambers. The last rays of the sunset were reflecting off the sky. I trudged over to the curtains and closed them. Having enough of any glimpse of light in my presence for one day.

Letting my instincts take over now, I stumbled over to my delectable companion. He embraced me in his arms and exposed his neck where my marks still lingered. I quickly dug into his warm, tender flesh without hesitation and drank greedily, wanting to get rid of the burning in my throat. I moaned at the taste while my prey moaned in agony. Oh! It was like honey! So very sweet, yet it smelled like cherries. It was rich, but it managed to sooth my thirst for him. The longer I drank, the weaker his arms were around me and the stronger I became. Eventually, I stopped until he was laying on the ground, weak and tired.

I crawled on top of his motionless body and straddled his waist. I leaned down toward his face and started to trace his features with one of my hands, like he did with me. I watched his eyes opening and closing, trying to fight death as I felt the warmth fading from him. “Are you ready, Haru?” I thought I asked menacingly.

He nodded weakly and his eyes drooped half shut. “I’m going to give you some of my blood, try not to drink all of it.” As I explained this, I took my little hand-held knife from my boot and slid it across the flesh on my forearm. I carefully slid off his body to his side and picked up his head so he could drink easier. I brought my arm to his cooling lips and he weakly brought his own arm up to keep mine from leaving his mouth. I laid his head on my lap as he greedily drank my cold blood. After a few moments, I ordered him to stop, but he kept drinking. “Stop! You’ve drank enough Haru!” I tried yanking my arm from his grasp until he finally complied. I moved back as far as the room could allow and rested my back against the wall. Haru slowly moved onto his hands and knees as he felt the effects of death take over him and another form of life take over his death.

He looked up at me from his position and said maliciously, “More.” He then started to crawl towards me and I pressed my back fully against the wall.

“You can’t have anymore of my blood. You have to drink a Light now.” I tried to keep my voice under control as he came closer.

The next moment, he was right in my face. “But I want your blood. No one else’s. Yours is delicious.” He put his hands on either side of my head and started nuzzling and licking my neck.

I tried to keep calm and think of a way out of this. Okay, some can have different effects on being turned into a Shadow. But this hasn’t happened to me before.

“No Haru, you must drink a Light. If you drink all of mine, you will kill me.” I desperately tried to explain it to him.

He stopped what he was doing. “Will I be able to drink it again?”

I froze at the question. If there was any kind of circulation in my body, I guarantee I would have been blushing. Drinking a person’s blood of the same race will cause an aphrodisiac to occur and that only happens when…when…Memories of my father came back to me and I whimpered at the horrid visions. “No! Never!” I couldn’t help but explode at his horrifying question.

“Listen to me, Haru.” I grabbed his shoulders and pushed him back a little so we could have some space. He tried to fight me, but for the moment, I’m a little stronger than him. He stopped squirming and looked at me. “In order for you to get your strength back, you’re going to have to drink Lights from now on. Drinking my blood isn’t going to help you any.”

He considered this for a moment. “Is it as good as yours?”

I was shocked at the question and yet I didn’t have an answer for him because…well, I don’t know what my blood tastes like. “I don’t know. You should go find out.” I tried to urge him on. Urge him on to leave and not kill me. I want to see my love again before I die.

He thought about it for a moment longer and finally stood up. “Where are they?”
I almost relaxed. “Downstairs. Someone wi…will point you towards them.” My voice cracked with panic and relief.

He stared at me for a moment longer and finally complied to my instructions. I sagged down the wall and put my face in my hands. Maybe I should have killed him after I drank him dry.~~

“After that, you were unable to leave my side and still are, aren’t you?” I looked at him casually as I repeated the memory to him.

He smiled at me again and looked to the side. Aw. He’s embarrassed. I smirked at the thought. It seems like he has changed somewhat since then. Though, he’s more in control of himself now and that maybe the only change. He’s still infatuated with me and his reactions are rare. Though I admit, I miss his crystal green eyes and that scent.

He looked back up at me, “I’m sorry for the way I acted when I turned. I didn’t realize it would feel so…wild and good.” He closed his eyes at the memory.

I frowned. “All is forgiven, Haru. Sometimes there are others who have different reactions to the blood.” I then thought how Kakarot would react to it and it brought an interesting image. No! It won’t be like that! Then Kakarot’s scent will be gone and so will his warmth and the chocolate pools that are his eyes.

“Though, my King.” As usual, Haru interrupted my thoughts. “I can still be yours if you like.” He said that with a sadistic smirk.

I rolled my eyes. “No thanks.”

He laughed then. I looked at him, shocked. I’ve never heard him laugh. “I wouldn’t expect you to say yes. I know you’re still in love with him.” I relaxed my expression and returned to looking out towards the horizon. Damn, it’s sunset already. Haru looked out the window as well. “Well, we better get ready for the raid. Orders, my King?”

I pondered a bit. “Alright. Let’s not strain ourselves this time. Since we don’t have very many men this time. Don’t get very many. A hundred ought to do.”

He bowed and left the room. I looked at the sunset one last time as the last of the sun’s rays were showing, then followed my loyal servant shortly after.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Look! No cliff hangers this time! Now I don’t have to deal with pissed off mobs! ^^ Sorry if it’s a little formal half way through. I was reading “Frankenstein” earlier and somehow it kind of crept into my chapter. Damn college English. Anyway, I meant to update earlier, but, once again, I couldn’t find the will to write anything. I hope it’s a more interesting read now. I noticed that people seem to like Vegeta’s POV more than Kakarot’s. Can’t say that I blame you. Also, I hope no one got the wrong idea that anything happened between Haru and Vegeta. Because, as you see, nothing really did. Though it seems Haru’s infatuation with Vegeta will never fade. Also note that Haru isn’t Vegeta’s ‘personal’ servant. He just follows him around all the time so he might as well be ‘a’ servant. Alright. I want reviews this time please. ^^ The hits tell me a lot, but so do the reviews.
