Explosion
"Kaana?" the familiar voice called out, as Tonni stepped into the room. The guard watched the girls through the closing crack of the door, a suspicious expression on his face.
"Tonni, sorry for calling you away like this." Kaana replied, stepping from the bathroom. "I hope you weren\'t doing anything important?"
"Not really, just cleaning my tools. What do you need?" the muscular blond nurse asked, sitting herself at the table. Kaana plucked the crumpled scroll note off the bed, and handed it to her.
"I need to know what this means. I mean, I understand what it MEANS...But, why would it piss Vegeta off? It seems pretty straight forward, except for the whole being bound bit, that part lost me." Tonni eyed the paper for a moment, hesitating to even touch it.
"Where did you get that?..." she asked, poising her hand out, but not grasping quite yet.
"He left it on the floor and took off out the window." Tonni frowned, but took the paper, and read through it. Her brows rose.
"You know what, I\'m not entirely sure. I do know that the tasks are fairly basic; fight, kill, protect, judicate, ect. The only sharp nail of the lot of it is the part about women. I\'ve never lived to see a Prince\'s tests, but from what I understand, if one realm of the test is frowned upon by the council, Vegeta must chose between his Kinghood and his duty. What that exactly entails since he has an unmarried young woman bound to his bed, I don\'t know; but I suspect it means that if he doesn\'t pull everything off within the tests perfectly, he is supposed to kill you to earn his Kinghood. Whether the council follows the gods or not, I don\'t know. I\'ve never had to go before the council."
"If he has to kill me, that\'s that for that. I don\'t get why that would make him angry. I\'m only here to pay a medical debt of my father\'s. His father put me here; I would think it would be an easy way to his Kinghood."
"I know, but I can\'t answer for the prince." Tonni answered, shrugging her shoulders. "I guess my answers only brought a couple more questions. Sorry, Kaana."
"It\'s alright. I guess I\'ll have to ask him. But, what about the part about him being bound? I don\'t understand anything about that."
"Oh, you mean \'...you will be required to perform additionally required tasks pertaining to the woman in order to pass. If we deem it worthy, you will be bound by it\'?" Tonni sopke, glancing down at the scroll.
"Yes. What does that mean?" Tonni smirked.
"You don\'t know?" Kaana shook her head.
"I was a peasant; I knew nothing more of the laws in the castle short of \'don\'t kill the big guys in armor\'." Tonni giggled.
"It means that if he succeeds in making you scream out in pleasure and the council agrees it\'s been done correctly, that you two will be forced to mate for life, as ordained by the gods." A light turned on in Kaana\'s eyes.
"\'And no man seeking the crown shall bed more than one woman, save himself the wrath of the gods,\'" she quoted, remembering the words on the ancient tablets that her father used to read to her at bed time.
"Exactly. I shouldn\'t say this, but Vegeta was raised by his MOTHER more closely than his father - it would make sense if he took the laws of the gods to heart, and has been resisting sleeping with the women because he knew he\'d be stuck with her, and if it was just some stupid wench off the street, he\'d be a mockery and lose all honor because he would obey the laws of the gods and marry her. Now that his father assigned you to him to pay off that debt on your family name and you\'re bound to HIM, he felt safe to take you since you can\'t be with any other man. I wager the King did that thinking you two would drive each other crazy, and Vegeta would be the first to snap. It would in effect create the prince his mother failed to. I would watch your back, or make it look like Vegeta hates you..."
Kaana\'s brows knitted together. Now it made so much sense. Vegeta\'s honor for himself and the gods were conflicting with the demands of his father and the throne. He had to pull everything off perfectly, and the stress his father was placing on him through the council wasn\'t helping. Vegeta was being set up to fail, and when he did, he\'d have to decide; the throne, or the gods. No saijin man should ever be forced to chose between religion and duty, just as no saijin man should ever chose between his job and his woman. But, something else dawned on Kaana.
"Tonni, how do you know..." she glanced up from her thoughts, mid sentence. Tonni was gone from the room. "...so much about Vegeta..." she crossed her arms over her chest, and wandered back into the bathroom. "Oh Vegeta." she thought, plunking herself down on the edge of the toilet. It was a bit more comfortable than the chairs at the table. "Your heart is arguing with your crown, and you\'re fucked no matter which way you turn. I wish there was some way I could help you. I can\'t go after your father, I\'d never get close enough. That\'s why he\'s been watching me; I\'m not doing what he intended me to do, and he wants me to make a mistake so he can kill me." Shaking her head, Kaana hugged herself. "What am I going to--"
She stopped mid-thought. A faint rustle caught her attention from the other room. She snuck as quietly as she could towards the door between the two rooms, using the bathroom door\'s wall as a blind. Peeking her head around the edge, she spotted a servant placing a food tray on the table. Kaana inwardly sighed. She was getting a little jumpy. As the servant left, she began to enter the bed room again. Just as quickly, however, a figure slid into the room again, using the shadows. Kaana retracted again, back around the bathroom wall once again to watch. The figure made a quick beeline over to the food tray, and pulled a vial from the left pocket of the coat they wore. Her brows raised with alarm as a clear liquid was poured into the two juice mugs. Just as quickly as the person entered they left. Whoever it was certainly wasted no time.
Quickly, Kaana dashed over to the table, and inhaled the scent of the juice. "Almonds," she gasped, instantly feeling a little weak-kneed. She staggered backwards, her mind swarming with dizziness. "CYANIDE! Oh no," she gasped, her balance waning. When he was mobile, her father had used cyanide a few times on some business enemies, and she\'d received many strict lessons on it. "Fuck, I have to find Vegeta..." Taking a great risk, she charged her Ki full-on, a pink aura radiating around her figure. She regained her balance and stature, relying on the forced energy to sustain her through the mild cyanide inhalation. The sniff wouldn\'t kill her, but it would have made her pass out. She backhanded the glasses, letting the mugs clatter to the floor. One sip of it, and Vegeta would be dead within two or three hours.
Kaana blasted through the window Vegeta had left through, ignoring the pointing spectators below. She flew off quickly, and mercifully, no one had seen her long enough to make out her face. Where the prince went, she didn\'t know, but she had to find him fast, before her Ki failed her. He\'d see her coming for miles with her brilliant pink ki, and hopefully, he\'d be curious enough to come find her. She followed the direction he had fled before, praying she\'d find him before she fainted.
