A/N: So, this is the last chapter for now…well, I have the next one written, I just need to proofread it and see it’s going the way I want it. So you might see it soon.
Six years later…
Vegeta did not return. It left Kakarot confused, angry…and hurt. Over time, the hurt turned into agony. He was the best thing in his life…the only thing in his life…and he pushed Him away. Not being able to forgive himself, Kakarot started a quest…a quest to search for the one he drove away…the one he cared for. When more time passed, he realized that he did love Him. If only He gave him enough time to realize that, but…He probably didn’t want to face what He thought would happen…what has happened over and over in His lifetime that He just couldn’t bear to face again. It hurt Kakarot so much that he just had to find Him and tell Him that they were meant to be…that He didn’t have to face His heart breaking again. For once, His heart could be mended and never be broken again. Alas, it was too late. His heart did break and so did Kakarot’s, but it’s not too late to tell Him how he feels. So, the quest began.
Kakarot went to the only place where he knew Vegeta would be and that was where the war was taking place. However, once he arrived, he realized he wasn’t prepared. He had no idea what war was like or what it was about. The last thing he wanted to do was go and get himself killed. So, he fled. He fled to prepare himself not only for the war, but to confront the one he loved. After Vegeta left, he didn’t know what to do with himself. It was almost as if he was a different person. He didn’t feel comfortable being around others, mainly because he wasn’t sure how he’d react around them if any of them were to converse with him and more importantly, try to talk him into something. So, he kept to himself and witnessed what others did. Doing so was how he learned to survive. Sure he remembered a few things in what Vegeta taught him, but it wasn’t enough. He needed to learn more.
He decided to return to his rural home. Mainly for the money that he still had stashed away, but possibly in the hope that…He would be there. The place didn’t seem to change all that much. The village was still tiny as ever and his home was still standing surprisingly. A sense of familiarity came to him when he entered his old home, but at the same time, it felt empty. There was no one waiting for him there and there was nothing that he left behind that he really missed. It was sort of a letdown really. At any case, he went to the floor board where he stashed what was left of the money Vegeta left for him and took it out, leaving the floor board loose. He hefted it in his hand to see how much was left and realized there was still a considerable amount. He and his grandfather did what Vegeta said. They used it when they needed to and didn’t waste it on anything they didn’t need, which, at the end of his grandfather’s life, there was plenty left. He heaved the bag he was carrying off his shoulders and set it on the ground so that he could add it to the amount that Vegeta left behind when he last saw him. He even had some of his clothes, but threw out the ones that were not wearable.
Once he got what he went there to get, he left with one last look at his old home then headed towards the next town. His next destination was the war that was still waging on. He finally knew why the war started, but kept failing to remember who’s fighting who. He believed it was over a considerable amount of land, which turned into something more. The war was pushed farther south as one side tried to take over the other. As far as he knew, that’s as far as it has gotten. He decided that that’s where his next destination will be. He wasn’t sure if he was prepared enough or not, but like Vegeta said, you either prepare for the future or simply do nothing…and Kakarot wasn’t going to do nothing. He figured he was as prepared as he was going to be. After all, life was short and Vegeta could be moving further away from him the longer he waited.

When Kakarot arrived to one of the major cities in the east, not far from where the war was, he ducked into a pub and ordered a few rounds of drinks. Ever since Vegeta left, he took up drinking to numb the breaking inside him. It’s worked so far, but it doesn’t help to be drunk all the time…to his dismay. Sure he’ll catch a few women’s eyes, but they don’t catch his. Vegeta was the only thing on his mind. He didn’t care what He was anymore, he didn’t care what His purpose was, sure he was curious, but right now…all he cared about was getting Him back. After a few hours of drinking, Kakarot decided that a good night’s sleep was in order. When he left the pub, stumbling into the street, he noticed some people were hustling to leave the city. Most had all their belongings packed and were riding out of town in a hurry while others decided to stay and drink like him. It was like this when he got here. In fact, it’s like this in all the towns and cities around the war. People were afraid to be near such catastrophe while others weren’t worried about it or accepted their fate if it were to ever come their way.
However, Kakarot knew there was something wrong when he noticed a bright orange glow coming from the other side of the city. Curiosity getting the better of him, he decided to venture towards it. When he got closer, he noticed more and more people were leaving the area, some were even screaming. Thinking that something horrible was happening, he started running towards the glow and began hearing more screams and crackling. When the intense heat and smell hit him, that’s when he realized it was a fire. With the straw and wooden buildings, the fire spread so quickly that most of the people burned alive. At this rate, there would be no way to contain the fire.
Thinking that there was nothing he could do, he started running in the opposite direction of the fire with the rest of the crowd. However, he realized too soon that it wasn’t just the fire that the people were running from, there were men on horses that evaded the city and were attacking people. It wasn’t long before the whole population was running from their lives. Some defended themselves while others were killed on site. Kakarot, being in the drunken state that he was, decided to head for the hills and fight another day. However, he didn’t get the chance as several lassos shot randomly out in the crowd and wrapped around a few people, dragging them away towards the men on horses…he was one of them. He clawed at the ground, trying to get some sort of hold to keep him from getting dragged closer to the men. That’s when he remembered that he had a blade on his belt. He quickly tried to grab it, though it wasn’t as easy as he hoped, and quickly cut through the rope around him. Once that was done, he wasted no time in getting up and running for his life. However, he didn’t get far as another one wrapped around his waist and another around his neck. His arms were pinned to his sides while his air supply was being cut off. The ropes pulled around him as the men who captured him ventured closer towards their prey. He noticed the men were wearing uniforms, so they must’ve been part of the war, but why were they this far east? It didn’t make sense. From what he heard, the war was taken place more in the south. The men laughed as they watched him slowly lose consciousness then one of them pulled out a sword and came closer; probably preparing to decapitate him. Kakarot struggled to free himself as his eyes rolled up into his head from the lack of oxygen.
When all seemed lost, one of the men suddenly fell off their horse and hit the ground, although, Kakarot didn’t see why. Suddenly, several more hit the ground and the one that held the blade that was closest to him, had his head exploded causing his bloodied remains to splatter everywhere and land on him as well. Kakarot didn’t know if it was a hallucination from drinking or if this was a nightmare. Something like that just didn’t seem possible. However, his wide blurry eyes caught a silhouette coming out of the darkness and into the flames. He didn’t breathe as it came closer and the closer it got, did he recognize it. “Ve-ge-ta.” He breathed out before he lost consciousness and fell to the ground.
Vegeta calmly walked out of the flames and into the smoky air and stared at the unconscious form with a frown. The flames were quickly engulfing everything around them as the headless men were being burned while the horses fled. However, He wasn’t worried in the least except for the man below Him. “You shouldn’t have come, Kakarot. This is no place for a human.”

When Kakarot woke up, he went into a coughing fit as he tried to rid of what smoke seeped its way into his lungs. As he did so, he noticed a couple glasses of water sitting next to the bed he was laying on. He didn’t hesitate in grabbing them and draining them down. Once he did that, he noticed that he wasn’t alone in the room. He looked towards the window where a familiar someone was sitting in a chair and looking out the glass, His back facing him. “I heard you were looking for me.” He said with a dead tone. Kakarot shivered at His voice, not having heard it in so long, but kept staring at His back; hoping He’ll turn and face him. As if reading his mind, He turned in His seat. “Well, you found me.”
Kakarot cringed at the same dead note and the guarded features on the other’s face. He really hasn’t changed. “Vegeta…” He couldn’t believe He was here. After all these years in looking for Him…here He was…and he couldn’t remember what he was going to say. “I-I wanted to tell You…” It almost seemed pointless now. After all these years of looking for Him…he couldn’t tell Him. This was all ill-timed. What if the man he knew has changed? Would he still love Him if He was a different person? He wasn’t sure about that. He should’ve said it then. He should’ve explained it all to Him that day.
When Kakarot couldn’t think of what else to say, Vegeta stood. “Did you want to say the obvious to my face? Is that it? Was ripping out my heart not good enough for you? What else were you planning to say because here I am! You might as well say it while you can!” He opened His arms wide, expecting an onslaught when all He got was a confused and speechless Kakarot. When not another word was spoken, Vegeta decided to leave the room. However, Kakarot managed to find words and quickly stood from the bed. “You said You wouldn’t leave me!” Vegeta stopped. “You…You promised…that You would stay…and You didn’t. You broke Your promise. I never said I wanted You to go and yet…You left anyway.” Kakarot was fighting the emotions rising in him as he stood his ground.
Vegeta turned to him and closed the gap between them. “What was the point of staying?! You felt nothing for me! Why would I waste my time with someone that wanted nothing to do with me?!” However, Vegeta wasn’t so good at keeping His emotions in check.
This, in turn, caused Kakarot to get angry. “What makes You think I wanted nothing to do with You?! You didn’t give me enough time! I…I didn’t know…what my feelings were for You yet and when You left…I found out the hard way that…” Kakarot looked Him in the eyes with uncertainty. He knew his feelings were true, but he didn’t know how Vegeta would react.
“What? Say it.” Vegeta sneered.
Kakarot felt kind of awkward and unsure. He knew if he said it, it wouldn’t be said right and it would lose its meaning. So, he did the next best thing. He wrapped his arms around the older and pressed their lips together. Kakarot immediately moved his lips against His, while Vegeta recuperated from the shock of the action. After a moment, Vegeta began to push himself away from the other, however, Kakarot just pulled Him closer and held Him tighter. After a few moments, Vegeta gave in to the kiss and responded with much eagerness. The first thing that Kakarot noticed in the kiss was how warm Vegeta was…hot even. He was surprised that he didn’t notice this the first time they kissed. Both moaned into the gesture as Vegeta practically melded Himself to the younger while holding his head in place; wanting the kiss to last. Kakarot did the same, not ever wanting to let go. However, a minute later, Kakarot had to resurface for air. Another kiss ensued until Kakarot had to breathe again, then a few lingering kisses were given before Vegeta spoke. “What are you doing to me? First you break my heart and now you expect me to forgive you?”
They touched foreheads as Kakarot answered. “I wasn’t sure what my feelings were for You back then. I was confused and a bit afraid. I didn’t know if it was something I wanted and, at the time, I wasn’t sure it was something You wanted. You’re feelings for me weren’t quite clear either until You told me right before You left. You didn’t even give me a chance to respond. I didn’t want You to leave. Even if I didn’t love You…You were all I had.”
Vegeta gave him a lost look before responding. “I…I guess I…didn’t want to face rejection again. So, I fled before I could…even though, I felt myself falling apart anyway.”
Kakarot felt the urge to kiss Him again and connected with Him before pulling away. “That’s what I thought Your reason was. That’s why I had to find You. I couldn’t go on in life without You. Especially…when I left You with no words, knowing that I hurt You.” Both stared at each other for a minute before another kiss ensued and broke apart again. “So, do You forgive me? For not telling You sooner and leaving You hurt all this time?” He stroked the older’s flame-shaped hair.
Vegeta stared at him with uncertainty. “Well, I don’t know Kakarot. I mean…this is all…quite sudden. Not to mention…I…this is the first time anyone’s ever…”
“Loved You in return?” Kakarot finished for Him. “It’ll just take some time getting used to. Don’t worry.” He leaned forward for another kiss, but didn’t make contact since Vegeta pulled away.
“Kakarot…you saw me. You saw what I was capable of…what I did to those men…” He trailed off and looked away; not being able to see the other’s reaction. “Do you still love me? Even after seeing what power I’m capable of?”
Kakarot almost forgot about that event. It was unexplainable…impossible. “That was You?” Kakarot pulled away as well. Not really being able to comprehend such horrific power that this man possessed. Before, he thought he didn’t care what Vegeta was capable of, let alone what He was, but this was something unexpected…and it was too much.
Vegeta looked at the ground. “Yes, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. I am capable of other things…”
Kakarot stepped back when something clicked from a memory that happened so long ago. “Those muggers…” Vegeta looked back at him. “That was You?” He asked again.
The hurt began to show in Vegeta’s eyes again as He nodded. “I couldn’t get to you in time, just like yesterday. So…I did what I thought was the only way.”
“What else are you capable of?” Kakarot asked Him in total shock.
However, Vegeta put on a determined gaze and stepped forward. “Do you really want to know?”
Kakarot nodded. “Yes. I need to know.” Vegeta narrowed His eyes, then grabbed Kakarot again and flew straight out the window. Kakarot shielded his eyes from the shattered glass as his heart raced at the feeling of flying again. “Where are we going?” He asked once they were well outside.
Vegeta kept staring straight ahead. “To the battlefield. It’s about time you knew.”
Kakarot stared at Him in surprise as they sped towards the chaos ahead. He debated whether or not to voice his uncertainty in jumping straight into war, but decided to keep his mouth shut. Vegeta spent most of His time on the battlefield. If He was capable of other powers such as the one he witnessed, then perhaps the only way to see them was on the battlefield. He gulped as his throat suddenly went dry; still having second thoughts. Did he really want to find out what the man he was in love with was capable of? However, he knew what his heart was telling him and he didn’t want to turn away from this man again. In order to be truly in love with Him, he had to accept everything there was about Him.
Kakarot looked below them and noticed smoke clouds and people fighting one another. His eyes began to tear from the smoke and the dry air as they sped onward. Finally, they touched down on a hill that overlooked part of the battle taking place. Vegeta let him go and walked ahead a few feet; watching the violence before Him. “Your dreams were telling you something, Kakarot. Today, you get to find out what that is.” Without a moment of hesitation, Vegeta raised a hand and waved it over the damaged field in front of Him and the soldiers on it. Without warning, a fire suddenly appeared…like it just came out of thin air…and burned everything it touched…following Vegeta’s hand.
Kakarot became panicked at the image in front of him. He was witnessing hundreds of people screaming and running around as they were being burned alive…and he didn’t know why. His gaze went back and forth from the fire to Vegeta; somehow getting the feeling that it was Vegeta who was causing the fire, but how was that possible? He took a couple steps forward, not knowing what to do. He saw the look on Vegeta’s face and didn’t see glee, a madman, sadness, or regret. He saw a man doing it because He had to, almost as if…it were necessary. “No! Stop!” Kakarot couldn’t take it anymore as he reached forward and grabbed Vegeta’s wrist; halting Him from making any more fires. “Why?! Why are You doing this?!” He couldn’t look Him in the eyes since he hugged Him…trying to get the image of what he just saw out of his mind. “No more. Just stop.”
“You said you wanted to see what else I was capable of.” Vegeta said in a sad tone as He let Kakarot embrace Him, but not returning the gesture.
“I-I know. I just…I just can’t…” He didn’t know what he could say.
“Do you not love me anymore?” It sounded more like a statement than a question.
Kakarot shook his head; tears filled his eyes and fell. “I-I don’t know, okay?! I don’t know!” He gripped Him tighter; not wanting to let Him go, but at the same time, he couldn’t look at Him.
“Kakarot…” He said it as though He was about to ask him something, but it slipped His mind. He reached His hands up to rest them on his shoulders, but Kakarot flinched at the action; causing Vegeta to let His hands hang at His sides.
“Just…just stop hurting people. Just stop…” Kakarot wept on His shoulder.
Vegeta leaned His head against Kakarot’s in an apologetic gesture. “I can’t.”
Kakarot finally pulled away to look Him in the eyes. “Why?”
Vegeta stared back. “Because…I’m a God.”
“A…God?” Kakarot whispered as he took a couple steps back; fear appearing on his features.
Vegeta’s hard gaze stayed the same. “Yes. Of war...of battle.”
Kakarot sank to his knees. His legs no longer able to keep him standing, let alone his lungs letting him breathe. “War.” He repeated with numb fear.
Vegeta wanted to console him and tell him everything was okay, but His version of okay was different than Kakarot’s. So, He just stood there and waited for Kakarot to take it all in. Kakarot looked around them. The fire spread around the field, burning the dead and the living. The smell of what the fire was burning burned his nose and eyes, making the tears fall all the more. Chaos was around them and Vegeta brought it all. Pieces of his dream came back to him. He remembered the horrific images…images that were so similar to what he just saw and he saw Vegeta bring the flames from His body to burn everything around Him. He also remembered Vegeta bursting into flames and taking off into the night like nothing he’s ever seen before and suddenly wondered if that’s what was going to happen next. With that thought in mind, he climbed to his feet and hesitantly went towards Vegeta and embraced Him again. “Don’t leave again.” He begged as he hugged Him tighter.
Vegeta was about to embrace him in return when Kakarot mumbled his next sentence. “This isn’t You…this can’t be happening…this isn’t You.”
Vegeta tried pulling back. “Kakarot.” However, His voice went on deaf ears as Kakarot kept repeating the same thing over and over. “Kakarot!” When He successfully pulled away, He grabbed Kakarot by the shoulders and forced him to look at Him. “Kakarot, this is me. It’s what I am. Either you accept it…or lose me forever.” He looked into Kakarot’s fearful eyes, but he wasn’t looking at Him.
“No, don’t leave. It’s not You. This isn’t You. I’m dreaming again. That’s right. It’s…just the dream again…” Kakarot fidgeted nervously in his place; scaring Vegeta more than anything.
“Kakarot…!” He was about to try again, but realized that it was futile. Kakarot appeared to be on the brink of insanity…which has been known to happen to a few of His fated-to-be’s, but He would be damned if He was going to let it happen again. With this in mind, He embraced Kakarot and whispered, “I’m sorry.” He sent a jolt of His power through Kakarot, causing him to lose consciousness and held onto him so he wouldn’t hit the ground. He lifted him in his arms then took one last look at the destruction He caused before taking off into the sky.

This…kinda feels rushed to me but then again, it’s been a pretty slow moving story no? Again, this is the kind of story that involves a lot of character development so…it’s expected.
