A/N
– This fic is a one shot Yuri fic, so if you can’t handle girl/girl action then
I suggest leavleave. This is my first Yuri fic AND my first fic overall, so be
patient with me.
The story takes place in
an A/U where Mr. Popo wasn’t able to find all the Earth Dragon Balls in order
to revive Goku on planet Namek (because if you remember he did die). Gohan, Bulma and Piccolo escaped on
the space Pod but Vegeta remained dead and Goku died when planet Namek blew up.
This fic is about how Chichi and Bulma feel afterwards, dealing with the death
of Goku, the knowledge they cannot bring Yamcha back to life, and how they feel
about each other.

Bulma sighed as she slowly swung
back and forth on the old wooden swing, her mind a shattered mess of grief and
loneliness. Usually going to the park helped to soothe her nerves – helped her
forget about Goku and Yamcha. Today however, seeing all the muscled men
prancing around after frisbee’s with their giggling girlfriends watching them
made Bulma feel empty and sad.
Everything happy reminded her of
all the good times she’d had with Yamcha and everything sad reminded her of
what she’d lost. It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair tGokuGoku and Yamcha had died -
they should have been alive to celebrate Frieza’s death with them, instead they
were in the other dimension with Tien, Choutzu and Krillen.
They’d probably forgotten all
about her by now.
A single, glistening tear
trickled down Bulma’s cheek and she quickly brushed it away with a shaking hand.
She missed Yamcha so much! Even though they had fought like cats and dogs at
times they had always come back to each other; they’d loved each other even if
they’d never said the words.
Yet, Bulma missed Goku even more
then she missed Yamcha. Goku had been her best friend in the entire Universe -
and now he was gone and she was all alone again.
“Poor Chichi.” Bulma mumbled to
herself as she stood up and dusted herself off.
Chichi hadn’t taken the death of
Goku well and the knowledge that he couldn’t be wished back to life with the
Earth dragon balls had crushed her spirit. She wasn’t the same person anymore.
Gone were the days when she would smile, these days Chichi was merely sad and
always seemed just a little depressed. Gohan was the only thing she had left in
her world and she was fiercely protective of him.
Bulma straightened her clothes
off and smoothed a hand over her shiny blue hair. She glanced around the park
with a dull gaze, realising with a small shock that she no longer felt serene
here. The park was too loud, too bright and far, far too real.
A small but beautiful smile
slipped over Bulma’s full red lips as she though of Chichi. With her long dark
hair, deep black eyes and her beautiful body Chichi was a woman in every sense
of the words. She was perfect. Abruptly Bulma shook her head and frowned as she
clamped down on those thoughts. She wouldn’t think things like that about her friend.
It was wrong.
With a final gaze around the park
Bulma walked away, her shoes crunching over the autumn leaves as she made up
her mind to visit Chichi.
~*~
Chichi felt her stomach flip as she
saw Bulma park her car outside and get out. The butterflies in her stomach
worsened as Bulma shook her long blue hair out of a ponytail, the strands of
hair catching the sun and glistening like strings of jewels. She swallowed and
watched furtively through the curtains as Bulma walked up the drive, her long
and shapely legs swinging.
“Okay, she’s your friend – just
your friend!” Chichi told herself shakily, trying to get rid of the nervous
feeling in her stomach that she felt whenever she saw Bulma. She hadn’t always
felt like this when she saw her blue haired friend, only since her Goku had
died. Chichi didn’t’ know if it was wrong to feel like this - she didn’t even
know where the feelings had come from, but if she was honest with herself she
had to admit that her thoughts strayed to Bulma more and more these days.
Could anyone blame her though?
Bulma was beautiful! It was impossible not to feel so strongly about someone
who was so beautiful both inside aut.
The doorbell chimed and Chichi got
up and let out a breath she didn’t know she’d been holding. On the way to the
door she glanced in the ornamental mirror that hung on the wall near the door.
She looked better - not as haggard and thin as she had during the first year
after Goku had died. Self-consciously Chichi tidied her hair, wondering why she
felt the need to look good for her friend and the need to impress her.
“Hi Bulma.” Chichi greeted Bulma
warmly as she opened the door and smiled at her friend.
“Hey Chichi!” Bulma grinned back
and spontaneously leaned forward and hugged her. They stood there awkwardly for
a second before Bulma pulled back and spoke again, a bright red flush spreading
over her cheeks. “Can I come in?” She tucked a strand of blue hair behind her
ear nervously.
“Oh, yes of course you can.” Now
it was Chichi’s turn to blush. How could she have forgotten to invite her in?
Chichi moved back from the door way and let the blue haired waif in, her dark
eyes running down Bulma’s body as she walked past her. “Would you like something
to drink?” She asked.
“I’d love something colBulmBulma
followed Chichi through to the kitchen, wondering if she’d imagined Chichi
checking her out. Gracefully Bulma sat down at the table and mulled over this
while she watched Chichi pull a can of soft drink out of the fridge. “So how
have you bee Chi?” She asked finally, deciding that she must have imagined the
look Chichi had given her.
“Coping.” Chichi laughed softly
and her eyes began to glisten with tears. “I still miss him and it still hurts and
all, but I’m coping better then I was before.” She watched Bulma open her can
of drink and sighed to herself as the pain of losing Goku ripped through her
like a knife.
“How’s Gohan doing?” Bulma took a
sip of her drink found herself wondering how Chichi’s hair could be so thick
and glossy. Her own hair was rather listless at the moment butchi’chi’s was
full and thick…
Bulma jerked herself back to
reality when she found herself wanting to run her hands through Chichi’s hair.
What was wrong with her today? Chichi was her friend!
“Gohan’s still living with his
grandpa.” Chichi admitted in a small voice. “I don’t think I’m well enough to
look after him yet, I still get depressed sometimes.” Her tears spilled over
and Chichi turned her face away so Bulma wouldn’t see her cry.
