My Sacrifice

YuukiSan: Ok so this is where I\'m going to apologize, I\'ve only ever seen four episodes of BeyBlade, but I\'ve heard tons from my Beta DragonBlade. So if any of the characters seem OOC that\'s why.

NinjaMouse: I know that there is a lot of dialog in this chapter, but \'s it\'s there to show the relationship that Rei has with the mother I created for him. And to show what kind of person his mother is, personally I LOVE her.

Chapter 1

Rei rolled over onto his back and let out a frustrated sigh. He looked to his right at the pink-haired female who was asleep with a content smile on her lips. The blader let out another sigh as he threw the covers of himself and stood up. He picked up his boxers from the floor and threw them on, then the neko-jin walked downstairs to make himself a cup of tea.

Once he had re-stoked the fire he turned and filled up the kettle from the water bucket. The youth walked over to the fire and placed the kettle on the grill over the fire pit. Rei walked into the kitchen and placed some tealeaves in a mug. At that moment the kettle started whistling, the neko-jin walked back to the fire and poured some water into his mug then sat down at the table to think.

It was obvious, Rei wasn’t happy. For some reason Mariah just didn’t do it for him anymore. Yeah the sex was good, but, she didn’t excite him anymore. He always hoped that the next time would be different but it never was.

Rei knew what he had to do whether he was looking forward to it or not.

At the moment the neko-jin heard someone come up behind him. Next minute he felt Mariah drape herself on his shoulders. Since she was so close he could smell her scent and his nose unconsciously wrinkled.

“Everything alright love-kitten?” Rei couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the pet name that drove him up the walls.

“Mariah, I think we need to talk,” the raven-haired male said, pulling the female’s arms off him. Mariah sat down across from him with a smile on her face. Rei looked down at the mug in his hands, “I um…I…oh how should I say this?”

“What is it love-kitten?”

“I don’t think this is going to work,” the male replied in monotone.

“What? What do you mean?”

“This, us, I don’t think it’s going to work.”

“But Rei, honey, we’re getting married…next month.”

“I know and I’m sorry, but it’s better we do this now then when it’s too late. The village doesn’t believe in divorce and I don’t think that living a lie is a good thing.”

The pink-haired female just sat there then smiled, “listen love-kitten, it’s late and you’re tired. I’m going to go to bed, why don’t you join me after you’re done your tea. You’ll see clearer in the morning, and then you’ll see that your probably feeling pre-wedding jitters. I’ll see you when you come to bed,” with that, Mariah stood and walked back to the bedroom.

Rei sighed again, feeling as if he hadn’t been heard at all. Then he came up with a plan that would definitely get through to her. He drank his tea in silence waiting until she was asleep.

With his feline grace, Rei went to the linen closet and retrieved his duffel bag. The neko-jin walked into the bedroom and started packing his clothes in silence. He walked around the entire house collecting the items he knew he would need. When Rei was all packed, he took one last look at the place he had once called home.

As he walked onto the porch the blader was met by the cool night air. He walked through the streets of his village in the direction of his mother’s house. The neko-jin knew that would be the first place Mariah would look for him, but it was also the only place he felt he could go.

Rei stepped onto the porch of the house he grew up in. He walked up to the door and opened it with ease, smiling to himself.
Just like Mom, never locks the doors the youth thought to himself.

The raven-haired male walked silently into the house determined not to wake his mother. He closed the door then turned and walked straight into a table that hadn’t been there last time he was home.
And she re-decorates every time I leave, he thought as a sharp pain shot up his leg from his toe.

Just then a light came on from upstairs, “Rei is that you?” a female voice asked.

So much for not waking up Mom, “…Yes Mama.”

He heard footsteps coming down the stairs all the lights in the living room were thrown on, “what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at home with Mariah?”

The neko-jin sighed placing his duffel bag on the floor at his feet, “Mariah and I are no longer together.”

“Oh Kitten, what happened?” Kiyoshi asked, taking her sons hands and leading him over to the low Japanese style table.

“I just wasn’t happy anymore. I don’t know why, but every thing about her that I use to love just seemed to get on nerves.”

“How was the sex?” Kiyoshi asked with a straight face.

“Mother!” Rei screamed, a slight blush on his cheeks.

“Rei, Kitten I wasn’t born yesterday. You two were living together, I’m quite sure that you were…“

“Mom!”

“…Having sex.”

“MOTHER!”

“I remember what it was like to be your age. Your father and I…”

“I don’t need to be hearing this!” Rei screamed, clasping his hands over his ears.

Kiyoshi laughed at her son, “ok I’ll stop, but you still haven’t answered my question. How was the sex?”

“Um fine,” the neko-jin answered shifting uncomfortably in his seat.

“And who was usually on top?” His mother asked, enjoying the torture she was putting the youth through.

“Um…well…it was usually-\" Rei stammered his face turning a dark shade of red.

“Rei, honey, I was joking. I don’t need to know that,” the older Kon said waving her hand to hush her son, “did both of you enjoy yourselves though?”

“Um, yeah,” the blader said, who still couldn’t believe that he was having this conversation with his mother, “well I know I did, and I’m pretty sure Mariah did.”

Kiyoshi pinched the bridge of her nose, “typical male,” she muttered.

“Hey what’s that suppose to mean?!” Rei asked looking insulted.

“Nothing dear.”

“Well actually it wasn’t fine. It wasn’t the same. That thrill, the excitement was gone. It was almost…boring.”

“Well that’s a first, a male saying sex was boring.”

“Mama, you’re not helping,” the raven-haired stated looking very unamused.

“Kitten, all I have to say is this: It has to be your call. If you weren’t happy then obviously it wasn’t meant to be. It’s as simple as that. No one can ask you to live a life that will make you unhappy.”

“Thanks Mama,” the youth said with a smile, feeling like, finally, someone got it!

“You’re welcome Kitten. Now go upstairs and get some sleep,” Kiyoshi said, patting her son on the hand.

“ ‘Night Mama,” Rei said as he stood and kissed his mother on the cheek.

“ ‘Night, and Rei, welcome home.”
