Chapter 1. It’s Been Two Years
‘Two years. It’s been two years since I’ve seen him. I wonder how he is. He gave me his number after the finaly battle between Tyson and Brooklyn, but I never called. I wonder if he’s doing alright? Maybe I should call... may I should...”
Kai was snapped out of his daze when he heard a loud crash from somewhere to his left. He glared when he saw Tyson and Daichi, arguing again. They were nose to nose, glaring daggers at one another, fists balled. Max and Ray were standing near by, laughing at their friends antics. Kenny was typing, as usual, and Hilary was hanging over him.
Kai sighed and looked back at the crinkled piece of paper in his hand, a number scribbled neatly in the folds and a small message written under that.
Kai,
Thanks for joining the team, It was like old times. Don’t forget to call.

Kai sighed. He still hadn’t called. He didn’t know why, he wasn’t afraid too. He and Tala had been friends far to long to be so cruel, but, still, he didn’t know his reason for not calling. Long ago he and Tala had been closer than anyone would expect, you’d think they were a couple.
Kai smiled. ‘A couple.’
“I won that battle and you know it,” Daichi roared.
“Like hell you did, that battle was all mine,” Tyson snarled back.
“You just can’t admit that you’ve become sloppy,” Daichi barked.
“I’ve gotten sloppy,” Tyson cried through rage. “At least I train, unlike you.”
“Come on guys stop arguing,” Max sighed.
“Not until he admits that he lost,” Tyson whined.
“You just can’t face the fact I’ve become better than you,” Daichi hissed.
“Yea right. You know I won right, Kai,” Tyson said, turning to his friend.
Kai turned at his name, looking around at the others in his dazed state. He shook his head, remembering where he was.
“Yea. Sure. Whatever you say Tyson,” Kai mumbled.
“You okay?” Ray asked, worry crossing his cat-like features.
“Uh. Yea. I’m fine,” Kai mumbled, pocketing the note.
Everyone looked at their eldest member with confusion and worry. Kai stood, not liking the looks he was getting and started walking away, his mind returning to it’s thoughts. He slid his hands into his pockets, sighing to himself and closing his deep eyes.
‘Maybe I’ll just call and ask him how he is.’
“Hey, Kai.”
Kai turned, glaring at the person who had disturbed him. Max stood in front of him, obviously uncomfortable. Kai lowered a brow, trying to seem uncaring. He crossed his arms and looked at the small blonde, his blue eyes shimmering with nervousness.
“What?” Kai growled, annoyed of the silence.
“Mr. Dickinson called this morning,” Max mumbled. “There’s going to be a team reunion in Paris, France, in about three days. He wants all the teams to be their.”
Kai froze. ‘All the teams.’
“He also wants us to be in the teams we were in for the finals two years ago so everyone’s returning home,” Max said, obviously speaking with more confidence now.
“What’s your point?” Kai asked, voice cold.
“I was just wondering if you were going back to Russia?” Max asked, voice quaky.
‘Good question,’ Kai thought. “I don’t know. Maybe.”
Max smiled and turned around to walk back to the others without another word. Kai watched him go and turned back around, pulling out the number and looking at it. He smiled and started walking again, holding it in his hand carefully.
‘Looks like I have a reason to call now,’ Kai thought.
