A/N: I had the inkling to write a K/R fic since the pair are one of my favorites. The ages in this story are much older than in the show; ranging from the youngest characters to be from 18-23 and the eldest characters (like Mr Dickinson or Voltaire) being anywhere from 43-70 years of age. Hope you enjoy and give me lots of Reviews.

Chapter 1.

My name is Raymond Kon and I am only of the age of 19. My descent is Chinese and I had to beg the village elders to allow me to leave and pursue my dreams of joining Law Enforcement. Now, hear I am, standing at the main gates of Mandarin, the largest and most prosperous Universities in all of Japan. I swallow my pride, take a step... and stop.

‘God, I’m so nervous.’

With a slow, easy breath, Ray Kon steps through the gates and into the swarm of student moving along the lawns and laughing with one another on the first day of term. Many looked to be new just like him, reading their time tables and wandering off with people they have met to look for their classes. Some ran up to others, screaming and hugging, having already met the previous year and damn well glad to see one another again.

‘Don’t be nervous, Kon,’ Ray told himself, nodding his head in vigorous approval. ‘Be easy and take deep, calming, breaths...’

He sighed and closed his eyes, sniffing in the palmy air around him. With confidence, he opened his eyes and marched forward, a smile bright across his face. He marched toward one of the many tables that littered the grounds, students piled around them waiting to be handed their schedules.

“HEY ... LOOK OUT.”

Unable to dodge immediately, Ray looked up instead and gasped, being smashed right in his nose with a flying football. He sprawled backward into the grass with a shocked dry, covering his nose and checking for blood, eyes stinging with tears. He groaned, sitting up and pinched the bridge of his nose, feeling the warm thick taste of his blood dripping against the back of his throat.

“Oh... I’m so sorry,” came a frantic and solemn voice. “Here, let me help you up.”

He took the hand without question, allowing the blurred figure to help him stand. He shook his head, ridding himself of the dizzying feeling and held up a hand to calm the voice that was continually muttering “sorry” and “are you alright” to him.

“I’m okay,” he muttered. “Not broken... I think.”

“Jeez, I’m such an idiot,” the person said, obviously male from the depth of it.

“Good job, Ty,” came a gentle and sighing response. “Here, let me have a look at it.”

Ray released his nose and opened his eyes, spotting the two people who were speaking in front of him. One, looking rather worried and quite shocked, had the most intense deep stormy eyes and navy hair he had ever seen. The other, a blonde with baby blue eyes, looked like he was someone who could lighten up the moon of any gloomy person.

“It’s okay, honest,” Ray said with a faint smile.

“Here,” the blonde said, handing him a napkin. “Don’t think you want to be walking around campus with blood on your face or clothes.”

“No, I guess not,” Ray laughed as the blonde smiled brightly. “Thank you.”

“God, what is wrong with me... are you sure your okay... do you feel dizzy? How many fingers am I holding up? What’s two plus two...?”

“TYSON,” the blonde yelled, shutting up the stormy eyed male. He turned back to Ray and smiled meekly. “Sorry about that.”

“No, it’s okay,” Ray said, more to the distraught Tyson than the blonde.

“Oh my, where are our manners,” the blonde laughed, waving his hand in the air and held it out to Ray. “Nice to meet you. My name is Max Tate.”

Ray looked at the hand before shaking it and smiled. “Raymond Kon. Just call me Ray.”

Max nodded and smiled even more brightly before turning on the navy haired male and glaring at him, though it was weak and more of a roll of the eyes to get him to say his name. Tyson just stared at the blonde for a moment before turning to Ray.

“Yes, sorry. Nice to meet you. Tyson Granger,” the stormy eyed male said sheepishly. “Listen dude, about the nose...”

“Really, it’s okay,” Ray said, holding up his hands.

“If your sure,” Tyson said with a shrug. “So, first year?”

“What...? Oh, yea, it is,” Ray said with a faint blush.

“For me and Tyson it’s our second,” Max said with a smile. “Hold on... you said your name is Kon, right?”

Ray nodded, though he could tell by the tone it was more of a statement than a question.

“Tyson, isn’t Kon the last name of our roommate?” Max asked, turning to the Navy male.

“Yea, I think it is,” Tyson said with a brisk nod and turning on Ray. “Maybe your that Kon.”

“Maybe,” Ray shrugged.

“Do you have your schedule yet?” Tyson asked.

“Actually, when you beamed me with your football I was just going to get it,” Ray said, laughing and rubbing the back of his head.

“I said I was sorry about that...” Tyson said, begging to rant as Max cut him off and moved in front of Ray.

“Come on, we’ll go get it with you and then find your classes,” he said with a smile. “Trust me, you’ll want to find your classes now before tomorrow or your going to be so lost.”

Ray nodded and looked at Tyson with an odd smirk before Max lead him away from the navy haired male and to one of the tables. He released Ray’s arm and bugged in front of a few first termers and spoke quicky to the fourth year student at the desk. The girl gave him a smile and handed him Ray’s portfolio and he moved away from her with a wink.

“Got it,” he said, handing it over. “So, what are you taking?”

“Law,” Ray said quickly, scanning over his sheet.

“I know that,” Max said with a roll of his eyes again, smiling as he did so. ‘What kind of law? Practice, children’s court, criminal law?”

“Oh... Criminal,” Ray said. “What about you?”

“Well, Tyson over their (Max gave a tilt of his head toward the ranting male that still hadn’t noticed they moved) is taking Divorce Law,” Max said. “And I’m heading into Children’s Court Law.”

“Cool,” Ray said with a smile. “Damn, these classes are so early.”

Max peered over his shoulder and gave him a sigh and shake of his head. Ray looked at him curiously just as Tyson notched they were gone and ran over to them. The stormy eyed male also looked over at Ray’s schedule and let out laugh, jumping back to stare at the male.

“What?” Ray asked finally.

“Self Defense and Proceedings, that’s what,” Max said, leaning against Tyson whos shoved him off.

“Damn, your in for a shitty year,” Tyson laughed, getting a kick to his shin.

“He’s not in for a shitty year, Tyson,” Max scolded quietly.

“Oh please, with those two classes he’ll be lucky he survives,” Tyson countered.

“He’ll be fine.”

“Like you and I were?”

“We have those classes again, you know.”

“Yea, but not with *him* again.”

“What are you talking about?” Ray yelled, snapping the two out of their semi-argument.

“Were talking about the classes your going to be indulged in,” Tyson laughed.

“What about them?” Ray asked, staring at him term schdeule.

“What he’s saying...” Max started, but was cut off.

“You’ll understand when you get to them,” Tyson said, dragging the blonde and Ray off toward the University. “Let’s go find your classes shall we.”

Ray nodded, still confused at how the pair had acted and moved with them. He was dragged through the school to all his classes. Three were in the main building. Two in the ‘Crescent Moon’ building and four in the ‘Defenses and Courts’ building. The three walked from the University and across the grass by late noon, heading toward Tyson and Max’s dorm. The three were laughing as they ascended the stairs, talking about Tyson’s last year in Policing Proceedings.

“Hey look,” Tyson said, running toward the roommates dormitory board. “Hey, Ray... you are with us.”

“Sweet,” Max cheered.

“Weird,” Ray whispered.

“Why is that so weird?” Tyson asked.

“The person who just happens to hit me in the nose is the one I’m bunking with,” Ray laughed as Tyson pouted.

“Shut up,” he grumbled.

“Awe, come on, Ty,” Max said, wrapping an arm around Tyson’s shoulder. “Don’t be so huffy.”

Ray blushed as he watched the pair laugh enthusiastically together, Tyson also wrapping an arm around Max’s shoulders. They stopped at Ray’s blush and looked at him. He smiled, blushing deeper and turned away, almost embarrassed and picked up the duffle bag he had been hauling around all day. The pair just shrugged and walked down to the end of the hall to their room. Max pulled out a key and opened the door.

What Ray had expected was nothing what he saw.

The room was spacious, a large living area straight off of the entrance hall that broke off into the kitchen and three separate rooms. He gaped in awe at the large kitchen and the three bedrooms that all lead into the living room. One large bathroom was situated just off of Tyson’s room (his name being hung over his door) and Max’s being nearest the kitchen.

“This... is your room,” Tyson said, swinging open the oak door to allow Ray entrance.

Again, he was awed. The room was large, a computer, neatly made four-poster bed and large window that watched over the large campus ground and up over the castle-sized university. He was so amazed by how large the rooms were and how much space the students were offered. Now he knew why his fees cost so much, the room itself was well worth the money and took over most of his credentials.

“Great flat, eh?” Tyson said from behind him,

“Hell yes,” Ray cheered, dive-bombing the bed. “This place is awesome.

“Glad you like,” Max said, leaning on the frame as Tyson sat straddled the computer chair. “It’s awesome when we have floor parties.”

“Are you serious?” Ray gasped.

“Oh yea,” Tyson said, leaning forward on the chair. “Over breaks, on the weekends. God, even on school days some people might decide to throw one.”

“No way,” Ray whispered.

“Yes way,” Tyson said, smirking.

“Listen guys, I got to be heading...”

“Yea, yea,” Tyson said with a wave of his hand. “Just don’t wake us up when you get back in.”

Max smiled and gave a wave to both of them as he darted out the door with a look at his watch, the front door gingerly clicking shut as he trudged down the hallway and out of earshot. Ray raised a single eyebrow, wondering what was going on and looked at Tyson who sat casually in the computer chair and was looking out the window at the setting sun.

“Where was he off to in such a hurry?” Ray asked.

“Heading to see Miguel,” Tyson said, standing from the chair and stretching his back.

“Miguel?” Ray asked.

“His boyfriend,” Tyson said casually.

Ray blushed.

“What?” Tyson asked.

“Oh.... I just... I didn’t expect...” Ray stuttered.

“You don’t mind he’s gay... do you?” Tyson asked, watching as Ray stumbled over his words.

“What... no, of course not,” Ray gasped. “I could care less if he was dating a guy. I just...”

“What?” Tyson asked, watching as Ray blushed deeper. “Do you like him?”

“Max is cool but I thought... you two... you know,” Ray said, mumbling out the words.

“You thought...” Tyson paused and started laughing.

Ray blinked.

“No... no... me and Max have been friends since we were kids,” Tyson said. “Were practically brothers. No, Max and me aren’t together.”

“Well how was I supposed to know?” Ray grumbled.

Tyson shrugged sheepishly. “Max and Miguel have been going strong for two years now,” Tyson said, smiling proudly about his blonde friend.

“Are you dating anyone?” Ray asked casually as he started to unpack and place his things in the dresser at the end of his bed.

“Why, you asking me out?” Tyson laughed.

Ray blushed again.

“Yea, I am,” Tyson said dreamily, making Ray smirk.

“And this special person who is able to make you stare off into space would be...” Ray said, staring at Tyson from the corner of his golden eyes.

“Claud,” Tyson said, blushing and staring at the ground. “Miguel introduced us.”

“You like him a lot, huh?” Ray said with a smile.

“Yea... I do,” Tyson whispered.

“Good to know,” Ray said, smiling softly at the blushing male.

“So, what do you fancy?” Tyson asked, shaking from his stupor.

“What...” Ray spluttered.

“Do you go for chicks or dicks?” Tyson asked, laughing at his own rhyme.

Ray blushed and glared at him. Hm, how many times can you make Ray Kon blush in a day?

“I... I um... well...”

“Don’t worry, you don’t have to answer,” Tyson said, patting Ray on the back. “Listen I got to be heading off too. I’ll see you in the morning okay.”

“Sure,” Ray said, waving as Tyson made his way tot he door.

“Oh, and by the way,” the navy haired male said, peaking back into the room. “Newbie’s cook breakfast.”

He ran as Ray threw a pillow at him laughing, shaking his tousled bangs and looking over the school ground as he plopped a pair of jeans into the second top drawer of his dresser. He sighed and leaned against the sill, watching as the sun dipped behind the school. What Tyson and Max had argued over before started to nag at the back of his mind and he frowned at the ground below him.

‘Wonder what they meant... I won’t survive?’ Ray wondered.

He shrugged it off and headed for his drawer, placing the last few articles into the drawer before taking out all his books and unpacking them as well. He tacked up his time table and looked at it, sighing when he read the first class and the time before going back to his unpacking.

A/N: Not a very productive first chapter but remember, it’s only the first chapter. This story will eventually have Lemon people, so be warned, I will not be responsible for you if your dumb enough to read it and think your old enough. This story will be replacing ‘When It’s Truly Forever.’ I lost my spark with that one and had to do something different. Sorry to the readers, but I just couldn’t continue.
