Envy

Hello all! Welcome to my newest fic. ^_^ Dangerous Love is almost over, and I want a dark fic, so I decided to do this one. First of all, I love this idea and I love my pairing, so I hope you enjoy it too. I've got a new set of legal stuff this time.

These characters aren't mine.

I don't own Full metal Alchemist, and I never will... T_T

I get a lot of my quotes from Kodaka Kazuma's Hughes X Roy doujinshi cause I like them and they work. Again! Please don't sue me! And go read her doujinshi! They're like really really good.

Pairing: Roy X Hughes, Hughes X Roy

I hope you all enjoy this small fic. X3 I know I will... Oh! And please not that the characters might be OCC, but... I made them fit with the plot line, so please, don't get pissed off at me!

Seven Deadly Sins of Love

Sin One - Envy

By Trinity Renee

1. Envy n. -

A feeling of discontent and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with desire for the possessions or qualities of another.

Na...

The first of the seven sins...

Is it possible for one person to become a victim to all seven?

Heh... I think it is...

But I want him...

Oh god, do I want him...

The full metal runt only feeds the fire...

I want something that'll satisfy me forever.

I want Hughes.

How far will I go to get it?

"Gracia and I are getting married."

"Ne?"

"I told you nothing about having a girlfriend? I should have said it once."

"... Oh..." There was a long silence before Roy started to laugh, patting Maes hard on the back as if it was a joke. "Oh! What a belly buster! To think I actually believe you for one second! To think you actually have a girlfriend! If you had a girl, I bed she'd be a looker." Maes said nothing, watching and listening to his best friend blabber on. "I don't know what to do with a guy like you. If she was real, I'd want an intro. However, how to congratulate this person would be the problem."

"Roy..."

"I guess I should conceal your bad behavior." Roy thought aloud, touching his chin as if he were thinking. "Well, then again, you are getting married to her so I shouldn't put a sheep in wolf's clothing..."

"Roy, enough." Maes reached out, grabbing Roy's arm and forcing him to turn around. When his golden eyes met Roy's coal ones, he lowered his voice, a serious expression etched into his face. "I'm not lying to you. And about that... I thought you might not want to see her to have to give your blessing... is what I was kind of thinking."

Roy went silent, sudden rage filling him. "What's with the 'kind of'?" He clenched his hands hard, turning his head so he didn't have to look at Maes again. "Don't worry about me. I knew you were the type to like girls, even when you didn't have a girlfriend."

"Wait a second. I've been meaning to tell you properly."

"WHAT IS THERE TO SAY TO ME ABOUT THIS NOW?!" Roy turned and yelled, eyes filled with that fire the man got when he was ready to fight. "Waiting for my grand congrats to you?!"

Maes paused for a moment, noting two other officers stopped in the hallway to look at them. He gulped and rubbing the back of his head, following the retreating Lieutenant Colonel. "Hey, wait, that isn't what I came over to talk to you about."

"Go back! This talk is over. Hurry back and stop neglecting your duty!"

"But I can't go. I have a message from Central."

"DON'T COME BACK!"

"Like I was saying..." Maes started, watching the Lieutenant Colonel storm off without an explanation or an important message. "This just started as a simple miscommunication..."

Colonel Mustang sat in his office, staring at a picture of his best friend and himself after their training at boot camp. Roy himself was trying to be serious, after all this was their military profile. But Hughes screwed up the entire feel of the picture. The man was grinning from ear to ear, holding the dress cap he was told to wear so that he would look slightly different. The more he looked at the picture, the more Roy noticed how annoyed he looked.

"Hughes, you've always been a brat..." Roy muttered as he shoved the picture in the desk provided for him while he was here. He was in Central for the next couple months, being the lucky one to represent the Eastern command center when it came to important military business. Of course he wasn't trusted enough to be the only one from Eastern, but it was a nice change of scene.

Roy eventually let him mind wander, thinking of memories of his past time in Central. Most of them had Hughes in them, one way or another. "Why am I thinking about him now?" He thought aloud, leaning back to stare up at the ceiling. Was it because he missed hanging out with his best friend? Was it because he was in Central and actually had the chance to see him?

Maybe it's because you want him for yourself...

Those words slowly moved through his head as he thought back a couple years ago when Maes announced that he was getting married to his woman. The announcement not only broke his heart, but also made him angry. It still made him angry, and for Hughes' sake he didn't show it. Gracia wasn't a bad woman. She was kind, loving, and a great cook. Hughes and her were the perfect match, so why was it that he got so mad at her for marrying the man?

Well that was a simple answer; because he had Hughes first. They had met in the enlistment bureau in Central. He was 18, Maes was 19. They were both still considered kids, and that was ok, because they had a lot to talk about. He was surprised at first when Maes told him that he wasn't an alchemist. The teen said that he just didn't have the time to study. When he asked why, Maes replied with "Why spend your days locked up reading books when you can go outside and have fun?"

Hughes was always an optimist. He was always the one to bring him out of a slump during the years they had been friends. Which was probably why Roy now found himself sitting in a car in front of the Lieutenant Colonel's home. With the windows tinted, he could watch as the man in question ran around outside in the front yard, his 3 year old daughter high above his head and squealing. Gracia was sitting on the steps, smiling as she watched her husband play with her daughter.

Gracia... so that was the woman who took Hughes away from him. Roy stared at her for a moment, noting that indeed she was very pretty and having a child did nothing to her figure. But... hell, he had known Maes for nearly 10 years! Why was it that a woman who only knew him a year before they were married got to have Maes?! Oh, that's right... Gracia and Maes' relationship was normal. Because Hughes was normal, Roy tried so many times to be normal as well.

Back in the East, it was like clockwork. Roy would work at the center, get off near 11 or midnight, head to the bar, and every two weeks pick up a woman he would screw that night as a one-night stand. Then he'd document it. Not as a personal trophy, mind you, but counting just how many women he'd have to go through to find his 'one true love.' He knew by now, that he'd never have what he wanted... What he wanted was married to some goodie two shoes and was bound to her by a ring and a kid.

Years ago he didn't want to admit defeat, yet he did, to make Maes happy. Now his was regretting it. All he wanted now was Hughes to hold him, like he held Gracia. Maybe a kiss or two, it didn't matter, as long as he was wrapped in Hughes' protection. Roy looked at his pocket watch, noting that he had been sitting there for nearly an hour and a half, wallowing in self-pity. He didn't need this, he had enough self-pity after his mistakes in the war. Shaking his head, Roy started up his car and quickly drove off, intending on getting shit-faced in a bar tonight and claiming another woman.

"Congratulations Major Hughes!" Fury's voice filtered through the hall, the man in question only smiling.

"My my, this is joyous." Falman answered behind him. The two privates continued chatting away with Hughes, Fury only stopping when he spotted Lieutenant Colonel Mustang try to talk by.

"Ah! Lieutenant Colonel!" Fury smiled, calling out to the man in question as Hughes tensed, afraid to get Roy into their conversation. "Did you hear about it? The Major's getting married!"

"Yea. I knew. I've been hearing about it." Roy muttered, stopping in his step for a moment to speak to the small group of men. "He came here specifically to boast."

"You say that when you were the one who leaked the secret out." Hughes' voice held a tone of worry and slight anger as he looked at Roy, who by now turned to watch the men. But something was different with the Lieutenant Colonel.

"Not so bad there, this is an auspicious occasion. Oh, I haven't offered my congratulations yet." Roy smiled, a heart-warming smile that only Hughes knew could possibly be fake. "Major Hughes, congrats on the marriage."

Oh my god, I loved how this turned out. And I love Kazuma-san's vision of the Hughes X Roy relationship. If you don't know, the first part and the second part are taken from "Yasashii Kisu wo Shite," one of 5 books she did. ^_^ Hopefully I'll get the rest... I have 1 and 2 translated, and 3 and 4 raw. Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter. If I get the feedback I want, I'll continue it. ^_^ Trinity is over and out!
