Collision
Goku stepped out of the house, looking up at the sky. Fluffy white clouds drifted across a bright blue sky.
He smiled, loving the feeling of the sunshine on his face. Laughing, he stretched in delight.
Suddenly, he felt someone watching him. He turned to look.
Vegeta looked over his shoulder at the tall Saiyan. They locked eyes momentarily and smirked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Goku grunted and sat up. He had no idea what happened. He had been thinking and then suddenly he was tumbling to the ground.
He unfolded himself and sat up, holding his head. His hands felt scratchy on his face. Pulling back to look, he saw long scratches marring his hands.
He heard a gentle chuckle and tensed.
(No. Not him. Not now.)
Goku turned around to face the laughter. He hoped it wasn't the one person he didn't want to see at the moment, but he knew it was.
Vegeta walked up. "Baka. You're a mess," he said, smirking.
Vegeta opened his water bottle and poured some out onto a towel. "Here. Clean yourself up," he grunted, thrusting the towel at Goku.
"Arigato, Vegeta. I was thinking and I lost my balance, I guess."
Vegeta had been walking away from him, but stopped and turned at the comment. He scowled at the Saiyan before him.
Goku felt he had to answer the unspoken question. "I was thinking about you." He couldn’t look at Vegeta.
Vegeta gasped, shocked.
He stormed over to Goku and smacked him on the head. "Don't think about me!"
"What's wrong with me thinking about you?" Goku asked, piqued that the smaller Saiyan had hit him.
"I don't want you to! That's what's wrong with it!" Vegeta hissed and turned away once more.
"But I like to," Goku said quietly.
Vegeta stopped, but didn't turn.
"What? You like to?" he asked in disbelief.
"Yes. I think about you all the time."
Vegeta turned slightly. "Why?"
"Because I love you," Goku said seriously, a sure and hopeful look on his face.
Vegeta only glared.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vegeta slowed to a walk. After the admission from Goku, he had just walked away from him. He had continued with his plan to jog in the park. He had run and run, his thoughts fueling his speed.
He stopped walking. (Why did he say that? Is he playing with me? Does he somehow know how I feel about him?)
He wiped the sweat off his brow.
His head snapped up. Somehow, he felt Goku collapsing. Gasping, he ran back the direction he had come.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Goku staggered. He felt as if he had no strength at all. He felt weak, powerless.
Vegeta had just walked away. No screaming, no laughing like he could have dealt with. He had just walked away. It had hurt more than anything. It was as if someone had ripped out his heart and left a gaping hole in its place.
He had run after Vegeta, knowing that he had to find him, that it wasn't over yet. He'd looked everywhere, using all his energy to find the elusive Saiyajin no Ouji. Not having the strength to continue, he collapsed.
Vegeta ran up. "Kakarot!" he cried, worry coloring his voice. "Kakarot! Are you okay?" he asked stupidly, kneeling down to hold up the weak Saiyan.
Goku didn't answer.
"Kakarot! Answer me!"
Goku couldn't ignore the worry in the otherwise authoritative princely voice. "Vegeta…" he whispered, his hand reaching up to grip Vegeta's shoulder. "Why are you worried about me? Is it because you feel the same way I do?"
He paused for breath, then whispered even softer, "I know… it is… Vegeta."
Vegeta was silent. He was torn between denying all and finally telling Goku the truth.
He didn't move. He couldn't talk. His dry throat failed him.
"Say it's true, Vegeta," Goku pleaded.
Vegeta swallowed and took a breath.
"It's not true."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vegeta sat, thinking.
(I think about him all the time. His face, his hands, his innocence.)
Unknowingly, he turned to look at Goku.
(Why do I feel this way about him?)
Goku looked up, feeling Vegeta's eyes on him. "Huh?" he wondered.
Vegeta was unaware that Goku was looking back at him. He was lost in his thoughts.
(When he collapsed, it was like something clenched around my heart. I felt like it was going to bust.)
Goku's breath caught at the look on Vegeta's face. "Vegeta?"
Vegeta's eyes focused on Goku. "What is it Kakarot?" he asked softly, his emotions still raw from his thoughts. He stood up.
Suddenly Goku smiled.
Vegeta gazed at him in confusion. "You're strange, Kakarot. What's wrong with you?" he asked, back to his usual self. He didn't like the look on Goku's face.
"Nothing. Just smiling. Is it a sin to smile?" he asked.
"Saiyans do not smile. It is a useless gesture." Vegeta intoned. "I don't see why you waste your time."
"Waste my time?" Goku asked, sitting in the place Vegeta had vacated.
"There are more important things to do than smile."
"But…" Goku started but stopped, gasping. He looked at Vegeta. Vegeta merely scowled back.
"Now what's the matter?" the Ouji snapped.
"Vegeta, I…" Goku started.
Vegeta took a step toward him. "What is your problem?" he asked Goku in exasperation.
Goku had had enough. His eyes flashed. "I don't have a problem! You're the one with the problem!" he bit back.
"Bakayaro!" Vegeta hissed. His fist shot out at Goku's face, stopping just before his nose. He held the position.
Goku didn't dare move. Shyly, he asked, "Vegeta…?"
"Damn you, Kakarot! Why do you do this to me?" Vegeta ranted.
Goku frowned at him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You want to know how I feel? I’ll show you.”
Goku sat on barren ground, clothes shredded. He looked up in confusion.
Vegeta glared down at him, malice dripping from his face.
"I'll show you how I feel." He leaned down and grabbed Goku around the neck.
"I feel like ripping your head off, tearing you to pieces. I feel like beating you to a pulp…"
Goku struggled.
"…keeping you alive enough to beat you more and more, until I get bored. And then kill you."
His hands tightened.
Goku screamed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Goku bolted upright, panting. Calming himself, he sat, trying to recall the dream.
"Kakarot."
He looked up to see Vegeta watching him. Panic rose in his throat.
"You were fighting in your sleep." It wasn't a statement.
"I… I was?" he laughed nervously. "I had a… a nightmare, I guess." He laughed again,
trying to force the coldness form his chest.
"About what?" Vegeta still watched him.
Goku chocked. Those obsidian eyes compelled him to speak. "You were trying to kill me."
Vegeta's face remained unchanged. "Kakarot, I would never kill you."
Goku's face registered surprise. "What? You wouldn't?"
"No, Kakarot. I wouldn't," the dark prince stated calmly. “You're the only other Saiyan alive. To kill you would kill me." He glanced at Goku.
Goku gasped. (That look…) Something in his mind clicked.
Goku thought back to all the times Vegeta had fought with him. (He wasn’t fighting to win. He was fighting to prove himself. Does that mean…?)
Vegeta scowled at the look of disbelief on Goku’s face. “Do you think I would lie to you, Kakarot? It’s the truth!”
Goku looked up at the slightly hurt Saiyan Prince and smiled. “I know.”
Vegeta paused, confused. “Then why did you just look so upset?”
Goku decided to gamble. “I was just thinking about all the times we’ve spent together. We always fight. We never have fun.”
Vegeta turned and walked away. “I don’t have fun.”
Goku jumped up, tossing aside his blankets. He grabbed Vegeta, stopping him in his tracks.
Vegeta turned to him. “What-?”
“You have to have fun, Vegeta. How could you live otherwise?”
Vegeta scowled. “I live knowing that I protect this planet and the people on it.” An image of Goku in pain flashed across his mind’s eye. He frowned. “Keeping this planet safe is all that matters,” he stated dully, almost as if he was trying to convince himself of it.
Goku grinned. “Vegeta, you care!”
Vegeta looked back, an expressionless look on his face. His mind assailed him with countless scenes from his past. Scenes of Goku hurt, Goku bleeding, Goku suffering, and Vegeta helping. He frowned. Most of Goku’s pain had been because of him.
Goku walked back to his bed to lie down. He looked back to Vegeta to see him frowning, lost in thought again. Goku sighed. (I wish I knew what was bothering you, Ouji-sama. I’d do my best to make it go away.)
Suddenly Vegeta walked over to Goku’s bed and knelt. Slowly, he raised a hand and placed it on Goku’s chest, as if looking for a heartbeat.
At the touch, something in Vegeta snapped. His heart started racing. His head pounded. His breathing quickened. Eyes closed, his head lowered.
Goku was amazed. He couldn’t believe it. His prince, his Saiyajin no Ouji, was going to kiss him! Goku had wanted, dreamed, of it for years. And now, now it was finally happening.
He reached up a hand to pull him down, closing his eyes. A picture of Vegeta walking away pricked his thoughts. (Not this time) he thought.
“Kakarot,” Vegeta whispered, before claiming Goku’s waiting lips.
A gentle breeze blew across his body. The coolness contrasted deliciously with his sun- warmed skin. The air smelled crisp and fresh. Birds chirped in the distance. All was peaceful.
(I feel so complete) he thought.
His sleep-numbed mind barely registered a footstep.
He sighed and burrowed deeper into the blankets. He was too content to wake up yet.
His eyes opened slightly. His foggy brain saw Vegeta walking away.
His eyes snapped open and he bolted upright. “Vegeta?”
(Rest, Kakarot. You need it.)
Goku grabbed his head. He had heard that in his mind. He looked back to Vegeta and gasped. (Did we…?)
Vegeta stopped and turned slightly back to Goku. “You are mine now. Kakarot. Remember.”
(…Yours…) Goku sighed a sigh of amazement and joy. (Hai, Ouji-sama. Yours.)
Two warriors collide,
Fierce in their confrontation.
One trying to outdo the other,
The other unwilling to fight.
Slowly the feelings change.
Hatred becomes love,
And the warriors collide again,
Bodies entwined in
Passionate embraces.

Author’s notes: No, this is not the real translation of the doujinshi. Even though I can read kana somewhat, kanji is beyond me by some distance. >.< I made up the whole story by looking at the pictures. (Hey - didn’t we all do that when we were little?) Anyway, I know some parts don’t fit well and I kinda fudged over some parts, but, overall, I think it turned out pretty well. I tried to stay true to the format. Meaning, where there’s kanji, I wrote dialogue. No kanji, no dialogue. The frames where there was no kanji, though, I took a little artistic license. I did a lot of describing and thought passages. Hope you liked it. Feedback is always welcome, good or bad.
Dedication: To hinokumu, in the hope that she (I’m guessing here) will upload the doujinshi section again, even though I know my attempts are futile. ^^
