Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing/AC, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Summary: Duo thinks he is nothing. After the life he was
forced into, it isn’t surprising. His only friends can’t help,
they think they are nothing too. They live their lives with nothing. Heero offers something, although Duo doesn’t realize it.
Can he except it? Even though he keeps up his cheery
disposition, he thinks he disserves nothing but death.
Disclaimer: No. I do not own Gundam
Wing, or its characters, or anything like that. Although… I do barrow them to
play with a bit… But I’ll return them as soon as possible! They’ll just be a
bit tired but happy!
Pairings: Now that would ruin the story! Although… It is a Heero and Duo fic so… I think you
can guess that… But the others are going to be a surprise! Don’t you like
surprises!
Warnings: CHILD ABUSE! Physical, sexual,
and the sort. I know it offends some, so here’s your warning! There are
mentions of sexual abuse, pedophilia stuff, and physical abuse. It will only
get worse in later chapters. WARNING YOU NOW! I’ll put up appropriate warnings
for each chapter. All the afore mentioned stuff is in this chapter.
Prostitution is mentioned as well.
Symbols: “speech” /thought/ ~~ scene change ~~

Falling Stars
**Chapter One: New Friends, New Job**
Duo hated his life. Everything about it made him sick. So
many times he wanted to just stop trying and die. He could never do it though, he was always too scared to. He would stare out his
window, looking up at the stars while holding his knife, and wonder what he had
done to deserve this life… This hell.
It had all started, or rather, his
good life had ended when his parents died. He had only been 8 at the time and
couldn’t believe that his parents were out of his life. Gone
forever. And he would have to go and live with someone new. Totally new,
someone he didn’t even know. He remembered the first time he had seen Dr. G. It
was at the funeral and he went home with the man, his apparent new guardian.
Things had gone down hill from there. Dr. G was a horrible
drunk and often beet Duo while intoxicated. Duo had found it hard at first, but
got used to it quick. There was nothing he could do except roll into a ball and
let the blows come. He cleaned and cooked for the man, too; often not getting
much of the food he made, but was used to that.
Unfortunately, things only got worse as Duo got older. When
Duo turned 12 Dr. G decided he need to start “earning
his keep.” Duo hadn’t stopped crying when he was raped for the first time. It
hurt like he never would have dreamed. And it hurt just as much every time it
happened. Eventually, though, he was able to zone out when it happened.
He would become someone else. Someone far away from what was
actually happening. Someone that didn’t know anything about
pain, humiliation, and sadness. Someone who had people that loved them,
cared for them. Anywhere was better then in Dr. G’s bed.
He was 14 now and silent tears rolled down his plump cheeks
as he thought about his life. The rapes were getting more intense and now Dr. G
would let his “work buddies” have their way with him. Things just seemed to be
getting worse and worse and he knew he should end it all.
He couldn’t though. As he stared up to the stars he thought
his parents were watching him. He hoped they prayed for him, prayed for things
to get better. He couldn’t do it himself; he had long since lost faith in any
sort of god.
When Duo heard the front door open he hurriedly wiped away
his tears and hid his little switchblade. He rushed down the stairs and went to
the kitchen to get Dr. G’s dinner ready. He stopped dead in his tracks when he
entered the kitchen to find his guardian looking into the soup pot.
“What the fuck is this shit?”
“It’s… It’s chicken soup… You said you were getting a cold
so… so I made you some… To… to help…” Duo only stared in fear as Dr. G walked
over to him.
He was always so afraid of this man. He thought, when first
moving in, he would be funny. Anyone with that kind of hair and nose had to be
funny. He soon lost that childhood innocence and learned what evil and pain
were. Now, he only feared this man that was supposed to take care of him. He
could barely ever speak normally, always stumbling on his words. He was always
so afraid he would say the wrong thing.
Duo could smell the alcohol on the doctor and panicked. The
fist came down on him hard and without warning. He fell to the ground and
didn’t fight as fists and feet hit him over and over again.
“DID I SAY I WANTED FUCKIN’ SOUP!?” Duo was lifted up and
thrown into the wall. His face was punched and the taste of copper filled his
mouth. “I’m not some fagoty, prissy, little bitch
like you! I don’t need goddamned soup! God, you’re fuckin’
pathetic! Useless! Get out of my SIGHT!”
Although it hurt to move Duo did as he was told. He ran to
his room, closing his door with trembling hands, and sank to the floor, leaning
against the cool wood. His whole body shook as he tried to calm his breathing.
When he finally thought he could stand, he went to his small bed. He reached
under the pillow and pulled out his knife. He held the blade too his wrist but
couldn’t slide it down his delicate skin.
Why he couldn’t end it made Duo hate himself even more. He
thought that maybe Dr. G was right. Maybe he was pathetic. A
waste. Nothing. Unwanted.
He fought hard to hold back his tears. Things always got
worse when he cried in front of Dr. G. When he heard the footsteps coming
toward his door he hid the knife again and sat on the edge of his bed. The door
opened and the grey haired monster came into his room, a glass of some dark
liquid in his hand.
“Get cleaned up and then get some fucking rest, boy. You’re
going to work tomorrow.” Before he could think, Duo spoke to Dr. G in little
more then a whisper.
“Work? What work?” The quiet words
got him a hard slap to the face and Dr. G grabbed Duo’s long hair.
“It doesn’t matter to you, you sorry piece of shit. You’re
going to start making some money so I don’t have to support you’re sorry ass as
much.” Dr. G pulled on Duo’s hair, throwing him to the ground and stormed from
the room.
As Duo made his way to the bathroom and started washing up
he wondered what kind of work a 14 year-old could do. He thought maybe, if he
was working, the rapes would lessen if not stop. Duo held onto this small hope
and went back to his room.
He pulled on his old, worn pajamas and slipped into his bed.
curling up under the thin covers he looked out his
window. He looked up to the stars and smiled.
“Mom… Dad… I think things might start getting better.”
/Maybe I’ll meet some friends…/
The stars only twinkled in response.
~~~~~
It was winter so Dou pulled his worn sweatshirt close to
him. He was wearing an old pair of jeans, a long sleeved shirt, and an
oversized sweatshirt. His old sneakers were wet from walking in the snow. He
didn’t have many clothes and certainly didn’t have anything proper for a snowy
day in the middle of winter. He didn’t mind too much, though. He was used to it
by now. Most of his free time was spent outside.
He was the one that did the grocery shopping and was used to
walking around in any kind of weather. Also, every chance he got, he made his
way down to the local library. It was a two mile walk up hill but Duo did it at
least three times a week. He needed the library. It seemed to calm him down. He
would also play around in the junk yard that was down the street from his
house.
He just wondered where they were going today. Dr. G had been
very quiet that morning. He had only spoken seven words to him, and that was
when he had woken him and told him to get ready. Duo was nervous, yes, any time
spent with Dr. G made Duo nervous. But they were walking in a direction Duo had
never been before. He was happy to be going someplace new.
He was overjoyed when Dr. G said they were going to the
city. He had never been inside the vast metropolis and was excited to see all
the people and buildings. He was careful to keep his excitement down, though.
Dr. G would not be happy if he knew how ecstatic Duo was.
He managed to get a window seat on the train and took in
everything he could. He saddened a bit when he saw a group of kids in school
uniforms. He had stopped going to school when he was 12, a week after Dr. G
started raping him. It was too hard to walk at the time, and he just felt too
ashamed to go back. He liked school, enjoyed learning and hoped one day he
could go back. Now, however, he settled on going to the library and reading
whatever he could understand.
They made their way off the train and Duo tried not to gape
at the huge city. The buildings towered above them and Duo had to bend over
backwards to see the tops of some. He wondered what was happening inside them
all, wondered if he’d ever get to see. He fallowed Dr. G as quickly as he could
but couldn’t help slowing down and just staring at some of the buildings and
people.
He stopped, however, when Dr. G pulled roughly on the collar
of his shirt. He walked silently, his head down, and fought his tears. He
remembered the group of kids he had seen. They had been his age, but they were
so different. They all laughed, smiled, played. Duo couldn’t even look at
buildings.
They walked for a long time, until Duo’s legs hurt. He
wondered if he’d have to walk like this all the time, if he ended up working in
the city. He hoped he wouldn’t. They had made so many turns,
Duo doubted his ability to find his way through the huge city.
Finally, in a rundown part of the city, they met up with
someone. The man would have made Duo laugh, if he could laugh in front of Dr.
G. He was baled but the hair he did have stuck out to the sides. He had a very
pointed goatee and wore sunglasses and a tropical shit over a few long sleeved
shirts. Duo tried listening to their whispered conversation but got distracted
by a kid his age walking up.
This kid was different from Duo, as well. Duo was a bit
intimidated by him. He looked calm enough but there was something in his black
eyes that just made Duo shiver. His shinny, black hair was kept in a tight
ponytail and made him look a bit older. He had a scowl on his face and glared
at the men until he was noticed.
“So, Howard, do I get the rest of the day off?” Duo stared
wide eyed when the kid handed the goateed man a wad of cash.
“Nah, you don’t have to work but I need you to take the new
kid to get some proper clothes.”
Duo perked when he realized they were talking about him.
/New clothes? Man! What am I gona be doin’?/ He blushed and looked at
his feet, though, when the kid glared at him. The kid opened his mouth but when
he got a warning look from Howard he just grabbed Duo’s arm and the bills
Howard held out to him. Duo started to talk but the asian-looking
kid told him to shut up, so he did. Finally, they made it around the corner and
the kid checked to make sure they weren’t fallowed.
“So… You’re the new kid?” Duo looked at him and gave him a
small nod. He wasn’t sure what his job was yet, but he didn’t have a good
feeling. “Alright, I have to take you shopping, but I’m no good at it so we’ll
get Quatre. I’m Wufei, by the way. You are?”
“Duo… Maxwell…”
Duo wanted to ask Wufei questions, but the kid looked sort
of annoyed and Duo didn’t want to make things worse. He wasn’t sure what he’d
be doing with the scowling teen, but if there was any chance of Duo making a
friend he wasn’t going to ruin it.
They walked for a long while until they got to a rundown
apartment building. Wufei had a key to the main door and they made their way
inside.
It smelled of piss and something else that Duo wasn’t too
sure of. There were a few creepy looking men sitting on a stained couch and
they stared at the two boys. Duo was nervous so he took a step closer to Wufei.
He didn’t know the kid, but Duo guessed he could defend himself if he had to…
He just had that kind of feeling about him.
They made their way up dirty stairs and went to the very top
of the building. It was only 4 stories high but Duo was panting when they got
to the top. At apartment L4 Wufei knocked loudly on the door. Duo was still
panting when the door creaked open.
A pair of gentle blue eyes greeted them. They looked scared,
but when they met Wufei’s something lit up in them.
The door was opened more and Wufei went into the apartment. Duo just stared at
the little blond kid smiling at him.
“Hi. I’m Quatre.”
“I’m… Duo…”
This kid was too nice. It unnerved Duo. He wasn’t sure how
to react to someone being so friendly to him right off the bat.
“You can come in, Duo. It’s not much, but it’s
home!”
Duo smiled slightly. /Bet it’s
better then my place…/ He took a few steps inside and Quatre closed the door.
The apartment was small, old, and worn down, but Duo could see it was kept
clean. There wasn’t any clutter and he couldn’t see any dust. It was better
then his place.
Duo took a few more steps to get a better look. Three rooms,
one bathroom, a living room and just to the side of that was the kitchen. A
table with three chairs was in the corner and a lamp hung over it, putting a
bit of orange in the room.
Wufei was leaning against the brown countertop eating
something. /Chocolate cake?!/ Duo felt his eyes widen and mouth water. He
didn’t remember the last time he had had chocolate cake. It had been his
favorite food, next to his mom’s cheeseburgers.
He stood there, watching Wufei eat, shifting from foot to
foot, and his stomach growled. The sound was amazingly loud. Duo blushed when
the two boys looked at him. He stared at his feet, hoping they would ignore
him. Instead, a plate with a large piece of cake on it was put under his nose.
Duo looked up and smiled at the blond holding the plate. He
took it and sat at the table, Quatre sitting next to him. He took a large bite
out of the cake and moaned.
“This is… amazing!”
With that he started devouring the cake. He only smiled when
Quatre laughed. All too soon, though, the cake was gone, along with every last
crumb.
“I’m glad you liked it.”
“It was great, -” /Shit... What was his name?/ “Q-man.”
The blond looked a bit surprised but then smiled warmly.
“I like that. Q-man. It’s tough.”
“Tough? You’ll never be tough, Quatre.” Duo was a bit
surprised hearing the other’s voice; he had forgotten he was there. /Quatre! I gotta remember that… Wait, what was his name? Shit!/
“Oh, Wufei, don’t spoil my fun!” Quatre laughed warmly when
the asian kid rolled his
eyes. /Wufei. Got it. Quatre and Wufei./
“Anyway. This is the new kid.”
Duo smiled but it fell slightly when he saw the look on Quatre’s face. The kid looked sad and worried at once and
Duo had no idea why.
“Quatre… What’s wrong?” Duo bit his lip as he looked at his
hopefully new friend.
“Do… Do you not know what your… new job is?”
Duo shook his head. “Dr. G didn’t tell me anything. He just
said I had to get cleaned up and to do as I’m told.” Quatre fell a bit more
with Duo’s last words.
Duo started to get a bit scared. He looked from the sad face
of Quatre to the stony expression Wufei held. Wufei looked to him and Duo could
swear he saw a bit of sadness in his black eyes. Duo’s fear only grew when the
two made no move to say anything.
“Wh-what is it? What’s wrong, you guys?” Duo could hear the
fear in his voice but he didn’t care. He didn’t think these two cared if he was
afraid.
Finally, Wufei moved. He sat in the last chair, to Duo’s
left. He leaned forward a bit and had a look of remorse on his face.
“I didn’t think we’d have to be the one’s to tell you this…”
His eyes darted to Quatre who was staring at his lap. “Duo, Quatre and I are…
well, prostitutes.” Duo stared back, not sure what to do or say. “And… You’re
supposed to be one, too…”
