The terror, that had held him since Rei called out, subsided, and overcome as he was with mental fatigue, sleep overtook him. In sleep his features softened and soon he could be seen to smile. A smile so sweet that few who knew him would have thought it possible – even had they noticed that he still had a hand in his lap.


Lost to another lover, Kai naturally didn’t see as Rei returned from the bathroom. Nor how he stopped on his way back from the wardrobe with clean sheets to look at the prostrate form of his sleeping captain. Nor the urgency with which he threw the sheets onto his bed before quickly returning to the bathroom, looking more flustered than would have been expected from the sultry heat alone.
