Sitting here looking up at the stars burning brightly in the night sky, I feel an emptiness like I have never felt before. All the times we spent together, the memories we made together circulate within my mind and I fondly think of them whenever I am feeling this way. I guess love is something you should never take for granted otherwise it could disappear right before your very eyes.

So many times I denied the feelings I had for you, ignored my heart when it yearned for you. I had let myself believe I was imagining things and it was perhaps the worst thing I ever could have done to you, let alone myself; and then you were gone. It was too late to tell you, and from that moment on my life has been lonely and miserable. I felt like I could soar high into the blue skies above me whenever you were near, but now, I just want to be left alone in my sad and miserable existence..

I knew deep inside that I loved you and nothing could ever change that feeling, I loved you with every ounce of my being, with everything my heart had, but I could never show you. I was too afraid. I wanted you; needed you, but I was too stubborn to admit it. What a pitiful image of myself I must've painted for you, but it's too late now.

I remember the moment well, the moment I held you in my arms, frantically trying to stop the bleeding from the gaping hole in your chest as the life force drained from your body. A surprise attack by the enemy destroyed the base we were working at. As we ran for cover after escaping the collapsing chaos around us, I heard you yell for me to get out of the way and I turned to see you throwing yourself towards me, arms outstretched. You never even hesitated... and as I flew sideways out of the way all I could do was watch as a large piece of reinforced steel pierced your body.

You looked up at me with no regrets, smiled as best you could and all I could do was listen as you took your final breath, saying you loved me, and then you were gone. I sat there, my head on yours, rocking you in my arms, regretting that I never had the courage to say to you what you were able to say to me. Surprisingly, tears fell... something I hadn't even realized I was capable of.

They say you'll do crazy things when you love someone, but I can never forgive myself.

It should have been me that died on that godforsaken day... Not you Duo... then maybe, just maybe I would have had the courage to tell you the truth, tell you the words you deserved to hear.
