Winry Rockbell sat on her work bench, construction new automail parts. She was awaiting the arrival of Edward and Alphonse Elric, her childhood friends, Ed was her obsession, since he had need of her automail to replace his lost right arm and left leg. They were coming to visit, taking a break from their journey in search of the Philosopher’s Stone. But today was gonna be a bit more special than the last times the two boys visited.

“Yeah, it’s just that we were so close, but then as always, something has to come and screw things up.” Ed responded, but he laughed it off, he wasn’t as fussy about the nature of losing a possible lead to the stone, and besides, he had felt like it was time to see Winry again.

“At least I didn’t break the arm this time, so Winry won’t have to be mad.” Ed said, holding up his automail arm and flexing it to show it’s undamaged look, though some dents could be seen.

“I was wondering, is that the only reason why you came to see her?” Al asked, with a voice that seemed to be teasing at something he didn’t have to speak. Ed’s face began to redden a little and he turned his head away.

“I told you before, it’s nothing special, I just felt like visiting, I mean, last time she got upset because we never dropped by often enough.” Ed retorted, but as he spoke of her more, he did feel a flutter in his heart, but this was a feeling he wasn’t about to reveal to his little brother. He couldn’t even really admit it to himself, he was in love with Winry. Yet every time he tried to bring himself to say something, he just kept locking up and would either talk about something else, or argue with her.

Winry sat in her room, wearing her grey work suit, but she had unzipped the top half and tied it to her petite waist.

“YOU ARE SO SHORT EVEN A STOOL STANDS TALLER ” Ed Shouted.

“YOU’RE SO TINY A MOUSE HAS TO LOOK DOWN AT YOU ” Pinako retorted, the two were about to go at the others throat when Al suddenly picked them up and held them away from one another.

“Can’t you two ever just have a nice talk without yelling at one another?” Al asked, shaking his helmet side to side at the sight of the two acting like kids.

“Al’s right, grandma, besides, don’t you have an errand you need to run?” Winry said as she walked up to them.

“Yes I do, Alphonse, would you mind coming along to help me?” Pinako asked, the youngest Elric brother nodded his head.

“Yes ma’am, I guess I’ll talk to you later Winry, and hopefully you’ll have calmed down Ed.” Al said as he and Pinako set out. Ed merely stuck his tongue out and then took his luggage into the living room.

“I’ve got a gift for you Ed.” Winry said, blushing lightly.

“Yea? Where?” Ed asked.

“Well, I’m not gonna give it to you just yet, let’s chat for a bit.” Winry said, and she entered the living room. A while after Pinako and Al left, Winry and Ed sat in the living room. Silence was all that could heard, since neither could immediately bring themselves to talk..

Winry broke the silence by asking: “So, Ed, have any interesting stories?” She blushed lightly, this was probably the first time alone with Ed in a long time.

“Not really, well actually, one time me and Al were in this town and I was asking directions when suddenly a dog came up and thought Al was a fire hydrant ” The two laughed.
