Gohan had just defeated Cell and the Earth was at peace once again. And of course, Gohan is forced to resume his studies by his mother, Chi Chi.

Vegeta just looked at Trunks and turned away. “Whatever.”
“Vegeta!”
With his back turned, Vegeta replies, “Kick those androids’ asses.”

Trunks turns to his time machine. “Well everyone, it’s been fun to meet all of you. Take care.” As Trunks moves to get in his time machine, Gohan finds himself saying “Wait Trunks!”.

Trunks finally catches up with Gohan, who has flown to where they first met.
“Gohan! What’s the matter with you? Why did you fly away?”
Gohan was sitting down, crying. “Trunks…why you have to go?”
Trunks sits down with Gohan. “I have to go. I do not belong in this time. I have my own time to go back to.”
“But why now? First my dad and then you. Why do I have to lose so many people I love?” Gohan immediately covered his mouth after realizing he said the word love.
