"Vegeta?" tried Goku, wanting to gain his prince's attention, as he padded over. It's not like he wanted to disturb the older saiyan but Goku had finally found Vegeta, after searching all over Orange City for him like Bulma had suggested.
But that hunt had led him no where and Goku had decided to end it and just crash at Bulma's place, until Vegeta returned.
Whom would of thought Vegeta had been in the living room the entire time, unconsciously
suppressing his ki.
Goku had guessed if he hadn't IM upstairs, prior to his search, he would of known Vegeta's whereabouts sooner but Goku justified his aloofness by the fact that if Vegeta wasn't in the gravity room chamber,
vigorously training; his prince was usually upstairs watching TV or preoccupying himself with blowing up insignificant things in his hand to pass the time.
Once, Goku had found Vegeta reading up on the back history of Earth and a few books from other world planets but whenever he asked about it, Vegeta would show his annoyance to him and remind him that he wouldn't understand because he's such a baka, whom has a low-one track attention span.
That had deeply hurt Goku but he laughed it off like he always did when Vegeta said cruel things to him.
One of the very reasons why Goku was searching for Vegeta in the first place, was so that they could have a go at their usual spar, which they haven't done for a few days now. Well
technically, Goku figured it would be their real late spar, if Vegeta complied, since he spent all day searching for the other.
See today, Goku had sort of slept in and well... he had hoped to make it up to Vegeta by taking his prince out for a night of fun afterwards, with drinks on him, of course.
But after seeing that Vegeta had left his beer untouched and his pack of cigarettes to no avail, Goku wasn't so sure. Still, maybe Vegeta would consider going somewhere with him, if he spurned on an invitation with some conniving on his part that also involved a banquet of food, to satisfy his saiyan appetite, since Goku found himself always hungry after they sparred.
In fact, Goku couldn't remember the last time his prince went out beside to spar and train in the gravity room. Maybe Goku could get Vegeta to enjoy himself for once and hopefully not make a
spectacle while out with Vegeta, which seemed to happen regardless of his good intentions for the other.
That's if he could get Vegeta to agree to go with him without being blazingly insulted for his troubles. Still, if Goku did manage to accomplish the difficult task than Goku could always use his wife's credit card to pay their bill, until he himself could pay Chi Chi back, since he was low on cash.
In the meantime, to not gain his wife's suspicion, Goku would later preoccupy Chi Chi by making love to her for a few extra hours each night to drift her mind off from the amount that would eventually come up on her credit card slip for that particular month.
Then after that blown over with his head still intact, Goku would come back here and treat Vegeta with breakfast in bed, something Chi Chi did for him to cheer him up when he was not his usual self.
Goku had it all planned out. He would make Vegeta a classic saiyan breakfast, before the unsuspecting prince woke up and without being too noticeable, Goku would
pick a day and just give Vegeta the match. That should clench it and maybe then Vegeta will start seeing him as his friend instead of his nemesis. It was wishful thinking but Goku already made up his mind on the situation. He thought they were making great progress, until he did something to upset his prince. All he did was give Vegeta a hug after their match but that was enough to set the fiery
lithe prince off.
There was also an underlining behind his offer of friendship. Like with the match he'll willingly give to Vegeta, when the day comes. Goku
really wanted to clear up a curiosity he held of his prince, since Vegeta had
ascended. He wanted to know how his prince would react when he finally won against him. For some reason, it wouldn't leave him alone.
Deep down, Goku hoped Vegeta wouldn't go all high and mighty on him and gloat but instead, smirk at his um 'victory' and say that was a great match. Goku especially hoped Vegeta wouldn't do something that involved degrading him. Like pressing his face in the dirt, saying
"You're beneath me" or make him act as his servant, since Vegeta relished in that sort of power trip.
Instead, Goku hoped Vegeta would treat him like he did in the their former matches.
By letting the win flow over him like water and maybe shake his hand in good
sportsmanship.
That would be ideal for Goku but he knew reality. That sort of behavior was beyond his prince's mentality. Vegeta would never do that, but it couldn't hurt to want that
scenario.
Approaching Vegeta, Goku stopped short of his prince. He stood behind his seated prince, waiting for the other saiyan to acknowledge his presence. When Vegeta didn't, Goku sighed in disappointment. He thought, they were at least passed this,.. but obviously they weren't.
Bending over the sofa back, Goku outstretched his arms so that it appeared he hugged it. He rested his hands, palms down on each cushioned pillow as he peeked over Vegeta's shoulder and ebony spikes.
He had wanted to try and get a idle look at what preoccupied his prince's attention from him.
Goku hadn't masked his ki when he entered the living room and in a way, it
troubled him, that Vegeta didn't take notice of his arrival, in case this had
been an attack from an enemy.
But he was unsuccessful. Vegeta's upswept hair blocked whatever held his prince's attention from him.
'Figures', thought Goku to himself.
Walking around the couch, Goku stood before his prince to the side. Vegeta still didn't know he was there.
Trying not to get upset, Goku directed his attention elsewhere. He studied the package that sat on Vegeta's lap and than at his prince's face, which was not set in its usual scowl but of interest and fondness.
Maybe if he voiced the question cropping up in his mind, Vegeta would acknowledge him at last, instead of making him stand there like some placid idiot, "What do you have there, Vegeta?" asked Goku, allowing his own curiosity to slip into his voice. He sat down beside his prince and hoped it was okay with it. Vegeta could be
temperamental at times, when you did things he didn't give his approval too.
Goku was relieved that so far Vegeta hadn't lashed out at him or asked him to leave with the colorful language he cherished. That was something his regal saiyan prince did when he was
tardy or plain on forgetful with time and missed promised engagements.
"Nothing really," came the deep gravel voice of his prince, "It's a gift basket.
It came in the mail this afternoon," Vegeta touched every curve of the weaved
object, trying to figure out what laid inside the wrapped basket. It felt like
something rectangular was underneath the plastic neon grass; a box maybe?
Vegeta turned towards Kakarrotto, half acknowledging the younger saiyan.
The baka sure had a knack at coming around when he didn't want him too, thought Vegeta, sourly.
As much as it was amusing to watch his rival fidget under his glare, Vegeta frowned outside for Kakarrotto's behalf and smirked inside, hoping he could continue to make the clown act more jittery, finding humor
in it. He divided his attention to both. Vegeta still wasn't sure if he should open the package or rid himself of it.
What if it ended up being something unpleasant?
It could very well be sent from Yamcha as a prank, since he's to sissy to face him man-to-man in a real fight. That lame excuse of a Z warrior has it in for him and it's not just for winning the girl in the end. Yamcha always seemed to be around his wife, suggesting something, like Bulma was cheating on him with that poor excuse of a human.
But Vegeta knew his wife. Bulma would never betray him. They had Trunks together.
Instead, Vegeta was certain that the gift basket held something special from some mysterious sender.
Now his problem was, whether he should share this with Kakarrotto or not. It was his choice.
"Huh,...from who," blurted out Goku without much thought to his prince's feeling, as he pushed all politeness aside and got to the point. Nice, Goku. You're sure gaining points with Vegeta, thought the earth-saiyan, berating himself with his slip of the tongue.
After realizing his mistake, Goku felt his cheeks burn. His body having shifted into auto-pilot already, revealing his guilt by making him blush madly. He had the same response when he tried to lie. He wished he could kick the habit but knew it was pointless
Inwardly, Goku knew that it was rude to ask Vegeta, whom. Especially a friend. It was personal information.
"Your friend will share it if they want." Chi Chi had told him once, explaining Earth custom's.
But ever since he got a peek at to what his prince was focusing all his attention on, Goku really wanted to know. He wondered how many friends Vegeta had on Earth, besides the z warriors and himself.
Goku wondered if maybe one of them had given it to him.
'Why else would Vegeta be looking at the wrapped package so fondly?'
So, Goku couldn't help but be curious and once again, Goku tried to convince his mind that, while his heart constricted. While he battled himself, Goku tried to wipe away the remaining pink that covered his cheeks.
Vegeta arched an ebony brow and was about to say something terse to Kakarrotto, when in a moments time, he backed down and just shrugged it off, looking away. Vegeta wasn't sure himself whom sent it, "I really don't know, Kakarroto. But it was sent to me," he said in a gruff voice.
"Oh," thought Goku out loud, 'Did he just miss something, because; why was Vegeta not yelling at him to mind his own business and get the fu*k out of his house?' "Did you win it or something?" asked Goku, taking another go at it and trying to assist his prince in discovering where the package might of came from, beside inside the mailbox.
"I don't know," replied Vegeta, equally confused. He too, didn't really know where it came from but that his name was specifically on it.
"A secret admirer maybe?" suggest Goku, than closed his mouth as quickly, biting his inside cheek to stop himself from rambling on.
"Kakarrotto," Vegeta's reply was angry, stern, annoyed. The Vegeta he knew.
Goku smiled at that familiarity, as he rubbed the back of his head, sheepishly. He even inched a bit from his prince's side and tried to clamp his mouth shut, before the next question could slip out.
'Uh oh, I bet I said something stupid. Or maybe I just annoyed him beyond his usual tolerant annoyance level. Either way, it wasn't looking good for me,' thought Goku, grimly, "Yeah Vegeta?"
Goku felt like he was treading on water now, especially since Vegeta had yet to stop sending death signals his way. It didn't help that he was sitting so close to his prince that the slightest movement on his part caused his leg to brush against Vegeta's.
"I'm married and have a child, Kakarrotto. Why in the world would I have a secret admirer. Hmmm?" Vegeta wasn't expecting an answer.
"Well, you do have the looks, Vegeta. If it was up to me, I'd say you're rather cute for someone whose face usually wears a scowl," admitted Goku and froze by his response, 'Did he just say that out loud?!' Goku was
shaken by the way he was behaving around Vegeta. 'What was up with him?'
"I'm..." Vegeta was at a lost for words. His face even paled a bit under the
admission.
Goku began to panic, 'Oh crap! I'm a Dead man!' he thought frantically, 'Maybe if I distract his attention, Vegeta'll forget.' "Um... So, wh- what are you going to do with your gift, Vegeta?"
Vegeta was still in a daze, sort of hearing the question yet not ready to
respond at the given time. Some color did regain in his skin but mostly in his cheeks. He wasn't sure if it was from incredulousness or shyness, as he considered what the baka's comment meant.
Goku fidgeted more under Vegeta's stare, making him very uncomfortable. He knew there was nothing he could do to change what was said. He always seemed to do this to himself, just when he thought they were making head way.
Bed made, Goku knew he must lay in it. Even if that meant in a tailored black
suit with flowers grasped in his hands and a funeral succession at his side made up
of a portion of his family and friends, mourning from his
unfortunate violent death.
As the minutes passed on in silence, there were minutes where Goku would dwindle his thumbs together or pick imaginary lint off his orange gi. He did this, so he wouldn't have to look directly at Vegeta, while an internal war waged out in his mind.
'Kami, what have I done and with Vegeta, no less!?' whined the shattered taller saiyan, as he
hyperventilated inwardly, 'I would say something stupid like that! I am the BAKA he keeps denouncing me as!' proclaimed Goku, going a bit overboard in his assessment.
Goku suspected the reason why he was behaving more bizarrely in his reactions was because of his past fusions with Vegeta. Ever since then, Goku found himself more
susceptible of his surroundings and of peoples thoughts if he concentrated enough, making him more sensitive and self-conscious of the things he did and said. Especially, lately.
Truth be told, being around Vegeta made his mind go all foggy and numb in a way, where he would forget the basic rule to think first before speaking.
' Saying that your friend was cute, was well...insane! He had never! Never thought or said anything like that until... until he met Vegeta and only after their joint-ment with the fusion technique... '
Right now, Goku couldn't quite get the nerve to look at his prince but Goku did manage to jerk out of his thoughts when he heard Vegeta's mellow voice filter into his hearing
range.
"Well... even though it is unknown whom sent it, Kakarrotto, I still want to see
what's inside, before I decide to incinerate it or not based on what's there but it's kind of hard to do so, when this foiled wrap is the shade of
mahogany, making it impossible to distinguish what's inside," grumbled Vegeta in a nasty scowl, "I was actually about to open it, when
you dropped in," exclaimed Vegeta in annoyance.
Vegeta wasn't quite sure how he felt about what Kakarrotto implied. 'Was it
just something humans said to each other to coddle them or did the baka mean "cute" like he was brat-cute or was it Kakarrotto was making a pass at him. Vegeta shuddered to think it was the latter, so he kept his options open behind the meaning of the word.
Either way, Vegeta was still...deciding, what to do about it if it was a hit-on-line by the other saiyan; but right after he figured out what was inside this blasted basket!
Glaring at Kakarrotto, whom was busy making knots from the drawstrings of his pants
with his fingers, Vegeta put a punishing grip on the baka's knee, jerking the
limb forward, before releasing it. Vegeta smirked evilly, gaining the desired reaction he went about achieving. He did take some satisfaction when the earth-bound saiyan
roused from his stupor, sputtering an apology. Ignoring Kakarrotto's nonsense, Vegeta went about his business.
He was going to open it.
F&%k that Kakarrotto was beside him.
Taking the flowing ribbon from one end, Vegeta pulled.
End of Chapter One
Author's Note: I hope this is readable enough for you. Basically I was going to make
this story a PWP but decided against it. I'm still trying to think where I'm
going with this one. Originally, this was going to be a Easter fic but I think I
want to play around with this story instead. Expect lemons in later chapters.
I'm sorry it took me so long to repost this, if anyone is still interested in
it. I just,...haven't been fathoming much. Life can get overbearing and well,
you know how it goes.
Don't be surprised if you see more dbz/other fics that were once posted here.
Geocities closed, so, even though I'm at another site, I'd still feel safer if I
post them here too, in case something happens.
Hope to see you again. This time, I'll try not to make you'z wait so long.
