This is a story written for a prompt on the Dragon Kink meme on livejournal located here: http://dragonkink.livejournal.com
The prompt was: Marron/Marron: Hey, Marron, did you know that Krillin named his kid after you?
Because of the nature of this story, Maron spelled with one ‘r’ is Krillin’s ex-girlfriend while Marron with two ‘r’s is Krillin’s daughter. That’s how their names are spelled on the Dragon Ball wikia and hopefully this will make this story less confusing. Also, this story is a bit long and contains references to many other pairings, some of them with lots of detail, since it’s fun how the Dragon Kink meme is basically its own little fanfiction universe. But there will be smut.
The “chestnut” pun that is mentioned here only works in Japanese, where Krillin and Marron’s names are puns on this word. That's also from the wikia page.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marron flew back home to the Kame House the minute after school was over. It was finally winter break which meant she could spend some more time with her friends and maybe her parents. Even though Marron was a senior in high school, it was still fun to go shopping with them since they had plenty of money thanks to her mom constantly blackmailing Mr. Satan. Sometimes her uncle Juunanagou would go out with them, which was really entertaining because he made Marron’s dad carry all of his bags, just like Marron and her mom did. Marron’s dad was very chivalrous. Of course Marron wondered why her parents, and her uncle when he was at home living with them, insisted on living in a small house on an island when they could definitely afford a much bigger place. Not that Marron hated Kame Island; in fact she loved the beach, but her stuff, her mom’s stuff, and her uncle’s stuff was really starting to take up a lot of space. And while they had plenty of capsules, it was sad that all their nice clothes and fancy pottery and mineral collections couldn’t always be out on display. Bra definitely loved Marron’s things and while Pan was not so into fashion, even she had to admit that everyone in Marron’s family (except maybe her father) had nice taste in clothes and hey, those amethyst and smoky quartz crystals were very pretty.
Marron landed on the beach just outside of the house. She had to fly to school every day since she lived on a remote island. She had stepped up her training recently and had a really good commute time because of it. Marron was also so fast that it was hard to get a good glimpse of her, thanks to everyone in her family and even Master Roshi helping her with her martial arts training. Of course, even if someone spotted her, the odds are that they wouldn’t believe what they were seeing. After all, nearly everyone on the planet was still stupid enough to believe that Mr. Satan had defeated Cell and oblivious enough not to notice that they had all been killed by Buu and then resurrected by a magical dragon.
As Marron approached her house she jumped when she heard her mother’s angry voice scream, “I can’t believe you named our girl after that bimbo! What the hell were you thinking?”
Marron decided to drop her Ki before her parents sensed her presence. They almost never yelled at each other. In fact, when they fought, it was always tense, awkward silences where her mom gave her dad the cold shoulder until he agreed with what she wanted. When her uncle was living with them and had a fight with her dad, he would also do the exact same thing too. Marron supposed that her mom and uncle’s way of arguing was similar just because they were siblings and twins too, so they had been together since they were born and had many similar habits.
Her mom yelling at her dad actually worried her a little since that rarely happened. But she was curious about what her mom had said. Marron hadn’t known that her dad named her after someone, let alone someone who was apparently a “bimbo”.
And she knew that if she walked in on her parents fighting, that her mom would stop yelling, smile at her and ask her about her day and probably offer her a snack while glaring at her dad and refusing to speak with him for a while. And Marron would probably never learn about this mysterious person she was named after.
Marron crept closer to the house, but was sure to stay out of the view of the windows. She heard her mom yelling again.
“I mean, why would you even think to name Marron after her? You told me that she always ignored you to go flirt with other random people and only used you because you had some tournament winnings! I should have realized it was odd that you never told me your ex-girlfriend’s name.”
“But Juuhachigou, you do like our daughter’s name, right? I mean, when we were coming up with names together and I suggested it, you said that it was perfect.”
“Well, that was before I found out you named her after that woman. It’s not even a case where you’re still friends with her or you at least ended the relationship on a good note. Didn’t she dump you for someone with more money than you?”
“Actually I did break up with her first, and then she had a bunch of boyfriends, then she dumped them and went looking for me again, but I wasn’t home, so then she left and I guess she got more boyfriends or something like that.” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
“Even if you were the one who dumped her, it’s still no reason to name your only daughter after her!”
“But Juuhachigou, it’s not because I still like Maron or anything weird like that. It just makes a cool pun. You see Marron and Krillin are both puns for chestnut. So it’s cute because we’re father and daughter, but our names mean the same thing. It’s cute, right?” Krillin said in a pleading voice.
The icy look on Juuhachigou’s face made it clear that she did not find that pun cute.
“So…um…who told you about Maron anyway?”
“Bulma did. You know, I’m not mad at her about that particular incident. In fact, I never really was. But it is fun to use it to get favors out of her.”
“One of your favors was asking her where the name ‘Marron’ came from?”
“Actually she just let it slip in conversation when I went to visit her today. But Bulma did give me this other Maron’s address as a favor. You know, just in case I wanted to meet her.” Juuhachigou grinned evilly at that last part.
“Juuhachigou, wait please don’t kill her or do something else that’s incredibly horrible to her! I know she’s not a really nice person and is pretty shallow, but she doesn’t deserve to die just because you’re mad at me.”
Juuhachigou laughed at Krillin practically having a panic attack over that. “Please, don’t get your panties in a bunch. I’m not going to go harm this woman, no matter how much of a shallow bimbo she is, just because you decided to be a moron and name our girl after her without even telling me that that was the name of your ex.”
Krillin looked relieved at that.
“However, I’m still pissed off at you!” Juuhachigou glared at him. “You could have at least mentioned where that name came from, oh, I don’t know, about eighteen years ago when we were putting that name on our girl’s birth certificate!”
Just then, Marron came into the house. She had sated her curiosity about where her name had come from, but she was getting tired of listening to her parents argue. Plus, it bothered her how different this whole thing was from how they usually dealt with each other when they were fighting. Marron knew that Pan’s grandma Chi-Chi would usually yell at her husband until he was terrified enough to do what she wanted. Bra’s parents liked to have a mutual shouting match with both of them seeming to compete over who could yell the loudest, with Yamcha, who lived at Capsule Corps, sometimes joining in. He rarely won the shouting matches, probably because he didn’t have nearly as many anger issues as Bulma and Vegeta did.
On the other hand, Marron’s mom, dad, and uncle definitely weren’t the shouting types. Marron’s mom and uncle did the cold shoulder thing and the unsettling glaring when they were mad, while her dad would just calmly explain why he was upset with her mom and/or her uncle. Still, even if he wasn’t currently talking to them, he didn’t do the cold shoulder thing or the glaring thing the way Marron’s mom and uncle did. So yes, she was a little concerned about her mom yelling at her dad right now; since this was not the way they normally did things.
However, once Juuhachigou heard the door open and saw her daughter standing there, she immediately stopped yelling and smiled that one special smile that only her daughter could bring out.
“There’s my girl! Did you have a nice day? Are you excited about winter break and spending some more time with your friends? Now that you’re home for two weeks, we’ll all have to go out together; you, me, your dad and uncle Juunanagou. I talked to my brother earlier today and he’s coming to stay with us tomorrow afternoon and will be here at least until the end of January.”
“That’s great mom,”
“Yes, I get worried about him, all by himself in those woods. I know that no one’s going to hurt him or rather can hurt him; I’m just worried that he’ll be lonely. Especially when he has all of us and he should just live with his family.”
Krillin spoke up. “Well you know how his is, Juuhachigou. He is just more nomadic than the rest of us. But at least he’ll be here for a while. Maybe I can convince him to stay longer than just until the end of January.”
“Yes, I think you can if you try hard enough,” Juuhachigou said giving him an odd little smirk.
“Mom?”
“Yes, what is it?”
“I just wanted to say that I like my name and that while I definitely understand why you’d be mad at dad, you don’t have to be really mad because I don’t care if I happen to be named after some shallow crazy person. Plus, I like how dad’s name and my name are both puns for chestnut. It is kind of cute.”
Krillin beamed at Marron for saying that.
“I didn’t know you overheard that Marron; I’m sorry about that.”
“It’s fine mom. The truth is actually--and please don’t be mad when I say this—I actually got home I few minutes ago, but I may have kind of lowered my Ki so you wouldn’t notice I was here so I could overhear the rest of the conversation because I was really curious when I heard you say I was named after a bimbo since I didn’t know I was named after someone and—”
Juuhachigou interrupted her. “It’s fine, really. I’m not mad at all. I can’t blame you for being curious because we all want to know more about ourselves. And I’d be interested in finding out the origin of my name too, or even what my original name even was.” Juuhachigou had a bit of a sad look in her eyes when she said that last part.
“Mom, are you okay? I mean, I know you don’t really know a lot about your past before…” Marron trailed off. Everyone knew what ‘before’ meant when referring to her mom or uncle Juunanagou.
“Don’t worry about it. ” Juuhachigou was smiling again. “Now, why don’t you try this weird fruit that I picked up today? I was flying around today and I ran into it on one of the nearby islands and thought it would be fun to try. ”
Marron followed her mom to the dining table where there were several medium sized fruits that looked like a cross between mangos and pineapples as well as three plates. Juuhachigou tossed all of them up into the air and cut them up with Ki blasts. The pieces of fruit fell onto the three plates and each plate had an equal number of slices. Marron and Krillin clapped. While Krillin and Juunanagou prepared food the normal way, Juuhachigou preferred to chop up her fruits and vegetables with fancy Ki blasts. Marron swore that she would learn how to do that sort of thing properly. One time, she had attempted to impress Pan and Bra by imitating how her mother cut up cantaloupe and strawberries. Unfortunately, she had failed miserably and everyone got covered with fruit and the mood for the evening was ruined.
All three of them sat down at the table and began to eat. The strange fruit that looked like a cross between mangos and pineapples actually did taste like mangos and pineapples all at once.
“Juuhachigou, you find some of the best food when you go flying around.”
“Definitely,” Marron said between mouthfuls of food.
“Why thank you. I do like to just fly around and travel around the islands. I guess I am a little nomadic, just like my brother. By the way, I’m still a little mad at you Krillin. I’ve mostly forgiven you since Marron is not upset about being named after some shallow woman you briefly dated, and that’s what’s most important. But I am still upset that you didn’t tell me about this a long time ago when you should have. And when Juunanagou gets here tomorrow, all three of us are going to discuss this.”
Krillin sighed. He knew the upcoming talk tomorrow would not be fun for him. But Juunanagou would probably have a fun time teasing him about this.
“Sorry dad, but that’s the best I can do about getting mom to forgive you.”
“Thanks Marron. I’m just glad you’re not upset about who you’re named after.”
“Not at all. By the way, I want to meet this other Maron.”
“What!?”
“I’m serious dad. I’m just curious about the person I’m sort of named after and I know Bulma gave mom her address.”
“There’s nothing that interesting though. I broke up with her because she was incredibly shallow, wasn’t very smart—”
“Didn’t you say that Karin couldn’t read her mind because there wasn’t anything going on there and that one of those Saiyan Scouters malfunctioned when it tried to read her power level because there was nothing there? As in, there were no brain waves at all?”
“Yes, that is exactly what happened. So you see there’s nothing really going on with her. She is pretty—” Juuhachigou glared at him, “but nowhere near as pretty and beautiful as your mom and definitely not smart at all, unlike your mom, so it’s not like she even has looks going for her. And I only picked out that name because of the pun. You said that you liked it.”
“Yes dad, the pun is very cute. But I would still like to meet this Maron. Even if she was as shallow and dumb as you said, she could be different now. When was the last time you saw her anyway?”
“It was just before I met your mother and your uncle, so I’d say about twenty-two years ago.”
“Right, and that’s a long time. Who knows, maybe she’s a better person now. And even if she isn’t, I’d still like to introduce myself to her. And are you sure about her not having any brainwaves? That just sounds like a bad joke. I don’t think anyone is dumb enough to not have brainwaves, not even Mr. Satan.”
Juuhachigou chuckled at that part, “If you do really want to meet this woman, I’m fine with it and I’ll give you her address. Besides, you’re becoming an adult now, so it seems that I’m starting to lose my power of deciding who you associate with. And I guess that she can’t be as dumb as Mr. Satan. I do suppose I can’t knock the guy too much though, since he is incredibly easy to blackmail.”
“His best characteristic,” Krillin said. “I’m also fine with you meeting her if you really want to. Hey, why don’t you go tomorrow morning and just come back around the afternoon or evening so that Juunanagou can see you as soon as possible?”
“That sounds fine by me.”
“Marron, I have to warn you about a few things before you go over there. Whatever you do, don’t look directly at her breasts. That’s how she hypnotizes you into giving her stuff.”
Juuhachigou just started laughing and clutching her sides. “What did you just say? I can’t believe that her boobs have some hypnosis power.” She wasn’t even mad because the very idea of Krillin being stupid enough to be hypnotized by boobs was hilarious.
“I’m being serious here! That’s what she’s best at. Just don’t fall for it, okay Marron.”
“Don’t worry dad. I was only planning on bringing her a small bouquet of flowers since I am just dropping by unexpectedly and she’s doesn’t know who I am. It’s just me being polite.”
“Okay, but just make sure it’s not too elaborate. She might want more stuff if she figures out you have money.”
“Like I said, don’t worry too much.”
“Hey Krillin, do her boobs have black and while spirals on them? And then they spin around in a circle? Is that how she got you?”
Marron and Juuhachigou just laughed madly while Krillin put his head in his hands and blushed from embarrassment.
AN: The next chapters will be less fluff and more smut. Hope you enjoy!
